Forty-one years ago, Chuck Lewis swept Cindy off her feet in a '67 Corvette coupe, igniting a lifelong love affair with these sleek machines. Today, we brought that romance to the airwaves from the bustling Corvette Chevy Expo in Galveston, Texas. Chuck shares his tale of dedication and precision that brought a 1961 beige fuely Corvette back to its former glory, complete with NCRS top flight status and Bloomington Gold certification. His story is a journey of meticulous restoration interwoven with personal memories that exemplify the profound bond between man and machine.Corvettes are more than just cars; they're canvases for creativity and badges of honor among those who cherish the roar of an engine. We uncovered the passion that drives Corvette collectors to transform classics into modern masterpieces, like a '62 Corvette revamped with an LS3 engine and a Sebring orange paint job straight out of 2019. It's about the thrill of the reveal at car shows, where the minute details, right down to the orange stitching on the seats, are a testament to the labor of love these enthusiasts pour into their prized possessions.Zooming out from the individual stories of restoration and accolade-chasing, we cast a spotlight on the vibrant car community in Houston. From the revered services of Pro Am Auto Accessories to the heartwarming mission of God's Garage, we celebrated the unsung heroes who fuel our passion for vehicles. It wasn't just about cars; it was about the people, the stories, and the shared experiences that bind us. And we're not hitting the brakes there—our In Wheel Time Car Talk Show will continue to rev up your Saturday mornings with more gripping tales from the automotive world. The Original Lupe' Tortilla Restaurants Lupe Tortilla in Katy, TexasSponsored by Gulf Coast Auto Shield Paint protection and more!Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links. Chuck and Saundra Lewis operate Sheraton Park Farms – a 70-acre regenerative farming operation nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountain of Wilkes County, NC. Starting from a single chicken tractor with 25 broiler chickens in 2018, Chuck and Saundra have grown their operation to raising meat birds, egg layers, turkeys, pigs, and cows – and earning a respectable income. In this fast-paced conversation, Josh and Chuck discuss economic, practical, and psychological barriers to getting more people involved in diverse, decentralized, small-scale regenerative ag, along with tools, tips, tricks, and ideas for overcoming those barriers. They talk about Chuck's philosophy for utilizing social media and YouTube to promote an authentic experience for Sheraton Park's customer to know their food and their farmers. They highlight challenges, weaknesses, and pitfalls, and lessons learned for bootstrapping a small farm operation and cultivating a customer base willing to pay a premium for healthy, local, clean meat from ethically raised animals. Over 200 years, Gonzaga has seen new course offerings, and clubs created to meet the needs and interests of students. As Black History Month continues, we celebrate this week, a little-known hero of Gonzaga, the African-American student who co-founded WZAG: Chuck Lewis ’77. How did Chuck’s father’s advice after a setback, inspire him? And what local TV station helped Chuck in those early days? We’ll also hear from Chuck's co-founder, Danny Costello '72, with his memories as a longtime WZAG moderator of the fun, and the challenges of those early days. Special guest, former Gonzaga faculty member, Fr. Mark Scalese,S.J., talks about his role in the evolution of WZAG in the early 90's, as it made the jump from club to class. Alums Dave Konschik '94 and John Guccion '92 add their appreciation for the Mark Scalese era. Finally, we catch up with recent graduate, Derrell Bouknight '15, who now works with CBS Sports Network. Derrell shares his WZAG memories, and experiences, and how the education at Gonzaga helped steer him into media as a career. But, the ripple effects of this "club" that evolved into a course, all started 46 years ago, with a curious Chuck Lewis '77. Chuck took his dad's advice and found an outlet for his talents and creativity. Special thanks to Dave Konschik '94 for his behind the scenes help on this Episode! While we were in San Fransisco last summer, we had the opportunity to talk with Chuck Lewis and Joanne Chadwick. Chuck is a retired pastor and night minister. Jo is also retired after a career working in the church, at the YWCA and in suicide prevention. They’ve both worked in support of peace and justice for many years to make their communities and our world a better place to live. Now, both in their 80’s, they reflect a bit on where they’ve been, where we are, and where we’re headed.
Originally from Saginaw, Michigan, vocalist Laurie Beebe Lewis (Laurie Seaman) has had a wonderful musical career & collaborated with many popular 60s groups. Laurie, with sister Jinny Seaman on bass and their band Pitche Blende, frequently toured with Bob Seger, Alice Cooper and Ted Neugent in the early 1970's. Laurie became a member of “The Buckinghams” in 1983 and they released an album entitled "A Matter of Time." She also recorded an album in 1997 with Gary Puckett entitled "Is This Love." Laurie joined “The Mamas and the Papas” in 1986 and toured with them both nationally and internationally as a replacement for her friend actress/singer, McKenzie Phillips. Later on, Spanky McFarlane reformed “Spanky and Our Gang” and featured Laurie as part of the gang along with some of the original members from the ‘60’s. Presently, Laurie writes and records in her studio with husband Chuck Lewis, and performs with her band “Queen Divas of the Universe” featuring Roni Lee & Shaaron Schuemaker. Their 2012 Rock Christmas CD “All Wrapped Up In Christmas”, produced and arranged by Laurie, is available on iTunes and various other music sites.
