Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #639 is an inspired hour of acoustic improvised music played by The Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, Native flute, double flute, harmonica, acoustic 6- and 12-string guitars, mandolin and ukulele, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on congas and Native drum. Recorded live in late September of 2025 at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts, today's show begins with the deeply spiritual raga “Let's All Live As If We Know Who We Are”, a somber and darkly beautiful song led by Mariam's chiming 12-string Martin acoustic and Craig's fundamental heartbeat drum. “Flowing On Singing Your Songs” provides an enormous contrast to the first piece as a dancing, lighthearted folk song built around Mariam's skipping ukulele and Bob's blues piano and “It's Never Too Late To Gather” is a pretty, minor-keyed tone poem with a lovely vocal and affecting double flute from Mariam over imaginative piano and earthy Native drum. “Let's Make A Wish For Peaceful Joy” features Mariam's chiming mandolin and a fine, active vocal as well as Craig's skipping conga groove and “Surrender To Just Flowing Celebration” is a pretty folk ballad with a lovely foundation of Mariam's acoustic guitar, Craig's throbbing Native drum and Bob's relaxed, minimalist piano and we close today's show with two classic songs from Mariam, the driving, impassioned “Trust” and the wistful country rock ballad “I Was Wondering”. Eastern Lariat Special: GAEA Girls 25 years after it's release, Dylan is joined by his Wrestle Update co-host and film major, game designer, director Nello de Angelis to give his insights from a directorial standpoint. Hear the two break down the film as well as the content of it as well which focuses on the GAEA Dojo led by legendary Joshi wrestler Chigusa Nagayo which at times devolves into psychological analysis as well as a look at possibly separating the kayfabe from the real The Kim Longinotto & Jana Williams film documents the life of multiple trainees of GAEA over the course of the summer of 1999 eventually centering around rookie wrestler Saika Takeuchi and her October debut and her quest to "become someone" and her intense training with (a 19 year old) Meiko Satomura as well as Chigusa Nagayo and others including cameo appearances from Sakura Hirota, Toshie Uematsu, Sonoko Kato and even a young Thanomsak Toba!? Among others. It is a journey that sees many fall off and quit, but we discuss the capabilities of the bread truck and if Satomura could have become a J-Pop star so...it's not all bad I guess. Except for Wakabayashi. It was pretty much all bad. But we respect her and her University of Marquette shirt. Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #638 is an hour of visionary acoustic improvised music played by The Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, Native flute, ukulele, dulcimer, harmonica and double flute, Bob Sherwood on vocals and piano and Craig Harris on congas and Native drum. Today we are delighted to be joined with the very talented brothers Chris and Rob Griffin, with Rob playing fiddle and mandolin and singing and Chris singing and handling acoustic guitar duties. Recorded live at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts in mid-September of 2025, the band eases into the show with two raga-like numbers from Mariam, “Smile” and “Happy I Am”. Rich and deeply improvisatory, “Smile” is driven briskly by Mariam's energized vocal and chiming dulcimer while Rob provides color with his fiddle and Chris and Bob provide a compelling plagal cadence framework on acoustic guitar and piano. “Happy I Am” continues the “Smile” lineup, supporting Mariam's the lovely, simple lyric of this exemplary, beautiful song from Mariam. “The Ballad Of Belfast Bay” is a fantastic folk waltz from the Griffin brothers with Rob on lead vocals and fiddle and Chris on acoustic guitar and Rob harmonizing as only brothers can as Craig, Mariam and Bob provide musical support. Chris takes the lead on his original number “Way Out West With A.T. Doe”, a driving minor country rock song featuring epic fiddle work from Rob and fine contributions from the ensemble. Next up is Mariam's “Room Of Doubt”, a blues rock number that smolders with Mariam's fine vocal and powerful work from the ensemble, particularly from Rob who picks up his mandolin for the smoldering workout. “Room Of Doubt” opens into a gorgeous coda with Mariam conversing with her sweeping, evocative Native flute over affecting piano ostinatos from Bob that veer from classical to fatfinger blues and gorgeous violin runs from Rob Griffin. Chris Griffin steps back up to the mic with his beautiful, soulful “Set Her Free”, a fine 70s-soul-flavored ballad with sensitive, additive contributions from all, particularly Rob with his bittersweet violin lines. “Pele” is a powerful island song by Mariam that the band sets on fire to a degree that would impress its namesake with bottomless enthusiasm from the ensemble and “Gypsy” is another exemplary song from Mariam cast by the band as a moonlit Romani reel filled with soaring violin runs and incendiary piano. The song detonates into a powerful, driving coda as Mariam's vocal and then her eerie, midnight double flute overtones dance with Rob's violin above the racing, yet focused and emphatic ensemble. A highlight. Bob comes forward to close the show with his rock gospel number “Coming Home” delivering a powerful vocal over a hypnotic, minimalist ensemble sprinkled with compelling violin lines from Rob and affecting, lilting vocalisms and Native flute from Mariam. Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #637 is an hour of intrepid, visionary acoustic improv music played and sung by the Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, acoustic guitar, mandolin, double flutes, ukulele and Native flute, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on congas and Native drum. Recorded live in early September of 2025, today begins with a live rendition of one of Mariam's finest songs, “This Is The Way”, taken at an energized pace and featuring a fine vocal from Mariam. “Farewell To Summer” is a gorgeous, extended piece with another striking vocal from Mariam and energized, inspired work from the ensemble and “Lunalya” is a gorgeous ballad about an interstellar unicorn that begins with a fanfare from Mariam's overtone-generating double flutes before developing into a beautiful ballad underpinned with earthy heartbeat drum from Craig. “Flower Of Life” is a stately piece with inspired gospel piano from Bob and a beautiful, evocative vocal and Native flute conversation from Mariam. “Gather Together”, another of Mariam's finest songs, is presented with a spacious, wide, operatic sound stage that creates an elegant space for Mariam's high, Apollonian poetry and “Ode To Mother Earth” is a sprawling, multi-movement that begins as a sparse, mandolin-based pop song and gradually develops into a mystical, raga-like mantra with a particularly powerful spiritual presence with grooving congas and imaginative piano backing Mariam's epic vocal poetry and Native flute passages. Was bewegt Gaea Schoeters?

Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #615 is an hour of intrepid, creative, compelling live music played by the Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, Native flute, shruti box, 6- and 12-string acoustic guitars, ukulele and kalimba, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on low Native drum and congas. Recorded at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts in April of 2025, today's show begins with the hypnotic, mystical “Oh, Radiant Is Our Love”, a gorgeous ballad underpinned by Mariam's shruti box drone, hushed vocal and soaring Native flute, heartbeat drum and postmodern soul piano figurations. “It's A Bright Light” begins with hushed piano, chiming kalimba and Mariam's beautiful, minimalist melody before developing into a Beethovenesque art song and “Sailing Ever Stronger (Because We Can)” is a pretty gospel folk song with an uplifting melody, virtuosic piano, chiming ukulele and dancing, grooving congas from Craig. “Ganesha” is a prayer to the Hindustani Goddess rendered as a beautiful, reverent raga built on Mariam's suspended-chord shruti box drone. “Codes Of Light”, directed by Mariam's propulsive acoustic guitar, has a misty, 50s feel as it slowly refines into a beautiful minimalist ballad with a powerful vocal and we complete today's show with an unusual, gorgeously exotic take of Mariam's “Sing Down The Walls” from the “Gaea Star Crystal” LP, all chiming 12-string, powerful low drum and mournful, reaching piano. Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #614 is an hour of dynamic, visionary acoustic improvised music played by The Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, Native flute, acoustic guitar, 4- and 8-string ukulele and shruti box, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on congas and Native drum. Recorded live in late March of 2025 at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts, today's show begins with the beautiful, meditative “Magenta Golden Rose” a languid, rich song with fine vocals and Native flute, throbbing Native drum and imaginative piano. “The Mists Are Rising” is a fast-paced nature travelogue driven by Mariam's chiming acoustic guitar and Craig's driving congas and “Morning, Morning” is a pretty folk song with a fine vocal from Mariam above energized piano and congas. “The Last Time” begins with peaceful, dancing ukulele and Mariam's pretty melody and adds gospel, folk and rock touches as it grows into a powerful, dramatic prayer of peace and “Let's Begin Again” grows beautifully, mystically from the embers of the preceding song into a rich, powerful raga supporting a languid Native flute and vocal ballet from Mariam. “Spirit Of The Forest”, originally recorded for the “Release” album, is given a stately, unhurried reading featuring tight conga work and a soaring, affection vocal from Mariam. Today's hour closes with “Returning Back Home”, a meditative, mesmerizing raga underpinned by Mariam's shruti box drone and enriched by imaginative piano directions and Native drum accents and rolls.
