Check-in on your DACA friends, and let them know we are all here for each other. No matter what, we are better together and I trust in God that bigger and better things are coming for us. Civil rights advocate Cecilia Muñoz was an eyewitness to history as she helped shape the Obama administration's immigration reform policies, including the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program for the people many now refer to as "Dreamers."Muñoz tells Rev. Jim Wallis, "We have large numbers, 10 or 11 million undocumented people, [who] Congress has rendered deportable, but we're going to make choices about who we choose to remove. And, DACA recipients are an expression of the folks who should be the lowest priority ... We now know that legions of [Dreamers] are teachers and students and lawyers, and 29,000 of them are medical personnel on the front lines of this pandemic."
FAIR’s Matthew Tragesser, Preston Huennekens, and Spencer Raley talk about the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals policy (DACA). The Supreme Court is set to make a ruling regarding the continuation of DACA very soon and here you can find out about the policy.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement is reportedly filing new claims with the immigration courts seeking to begin deportation proceedings against several people who fall under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals or DACA, on the assumption that DACA will be allowed to expire without Congressional action. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson says something that I have been saying for a while now when he said, “Some people say it’s compassionate just to let them do anything they want to do. That’s not compassionate at all. What’s compassionate is helping people who cannot take care of themselves manage. And If we can get them into the right setting so they’re getting proper medications and counseling, many of them become quite functional at that point.” According to the mother of an Ohio mother of two, when her daughter went into a long coma following a seizure, doctors told the woman’s mother that her daughter was “brain dead” and she should “pull the plug.” But seven months after slipping into a coma, the daughter awakened, making a full recovery. Plus, we will have our first visit of 2020 by Ron Edwards. This and more as time allows, plus don't forget about the Edwards Notebook and the Veteran's Tip of the Day!

In 2012, the Obama Administration signed a memo addressing all branches of the Department of Homeland Security, which granted undocumented immigrants who migrated as minors to the United States a renewable deferral of deportation. It’s called Deferred Action For Childhood Arrivals. DACA, for short. Luis Perez Morales is one of those children. He crossed the border with his family when he was 8, and has been living in the U.S. since then. When he heard about the program, Perez Morales scheduled an appointment with an immigration attorney to apply for DACA. An encounter with Border Patrol agents, a week before his scheduled meeting with an attorney, changed everything. Life of the Law Episode 74 "UnDACAmented" was sponsored by Squarespace.
