With the Winter Olympics about to kick off in Milano-Cortina, the news that Team USA will be joined by officers from the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has caused a stir. It sends a mixed message to the world, especially given that in July, the notoriously anti-immigration Trump administration will host millions of international visitors for the biggest sporting event on the planet, the FIFA World Cup. Hamish Macdonald and Kylie Morris speak to journalist Nahal Toosi about the collision of MAGA and sports, and why an "America First" World Cup is riddled with contradictions.Guest: Nahal Toosi, senior foreign affairs correspondent for POLITICOGet in touch:We'd love to hear from you! Donald Trump's border chief is working on an eventual draw-down plan of immigration agents in Minneapolis. The US President sent Tom Homan to the city after two protestors, Renee Good and Alex Pretti, were shot dead by federal officials in Minneapolis. He's told a news conference he wants to see common sense co-operation, which allows the number of ICE officers in the city to reduce. US Correspondent Richard Arnold told Mike Hosking details for the wind-down plan are scarce, but it would involve having ICE agents seek more access in jails. This would mean they're rounding up criminals, instead of people on the streets or in front of home supply stores, he says. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
In den USA regen sich gerade viele Menschen über ICE auf. Was ICE ist und was ICE genau macht, klären wir hier: Von Julia Muth.
Mary and Andrew make Minnesota the focal point this week, after the Trump administration's intensified immigration enforcement efforts in the state culminated in the tragic killing of Alex Pretti by federal agents on Saturday. The co-hosts detail several legal cases related to these efforts: one that challenges how ICE and CBP agents treat protestors and observers, another that aims to preserve evidence in Mr. Pretti's death, and a state case arguing that the federal government is violating the 10th Amendment and Minnesota's sovereignty rights by conducting “Operation Metro Surge”. Then, they turn to what Andrew calls an “extortion letter” sent by Attorney General Pam Bondi to Governor Tim Walz over the weekend, implying that compliance of three demands – including handing over Minnesota's voter rolls – could lead to a reduction of immigration forces in the state. Before wrapping up, Mary and Andrew review a memo surfaced by a whistleblower giving DHS officers authority to forcibly enter homes during immigration enforcement operations.Further reading: Here is a new piece Andrew and Ryan Goodman wrote for Just Security: The Top 10 Questions the Trump Administration Needs to Answer About Minnesota. Growing outrage in Italy after it was announced ICE agents would be in attendance at the Winter Olympics next month. The US Department of Homeland Security has confirmed that they will serve a security role, supporting the US diplomatic security service at the Games. Current and former politicians within Italy are urging Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to block the agents' presence in the wake of two fatal shootings by ICE in Minneapolis. Italy Correspondent Jo McKenna told Mike Hosking she wouldn't be surprised to see major protests over this, as people are pretty unhappy with the news. Headlines: A new take on second-amendment rights from Donald Trump, as he dramatically scales back ICE’s immigration enforcement operation in Minnesota. In this exhortation, Pastor David addresses present tensions within our city with five premises he and the pastoral team would have us hold to.
As immigration raids continue across the US - specifically in Minnesota where thousands of protesters are taking to the streets denouncing ICE following the shooting death of Renee Good - political polarization couldn't be more rampant.Earlier this week, the US Department of Justice subpoenaed at least five Minnesota officials for their alleged involvement in obstructing ICE officers from doing their jobs. It falls against the backdrop of US President Trump threatening to invoke the Insurrection Act. Host Caryn Ceolin speaks to Jeanne Meserve, journalist and international security analyst to discuss the transformation of immigration enforcement under Trump's second term, and how Americans are reacting to this deepening domestic policy crisis within their country. Hundreds are protesting in Minneapolis after and Immigrations and Customs or ICE officer shot and killed a woman. The 37-year-old was protesting against the Trump administration's crack down on immigration in the Minnesota city. The city's mayor is calling it reckless, unnecessary, and demanding ICE leave Minneapolis. But federal officials are backing the agent, claiming the woman attempted to run over the officer. US Correspondent Richard Arnold told Andrew Dickens the video footage contradicts much of what the federal officials claim. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In 1968, Judith's father, Harold Berliner, along with Deputy State Attorney General Doris Maier, wrote the finalized text for the Miranda Warnings. Using his letterpress, Harold printed small, laminated cards, so every police officer in California would have a copy of the Miranda Warnings. Now, Judith has printed similar, small, laminated cards which outline individuals' rights when approached by Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agents, known as ICE agents. Judith printed around 400 of these cards, which have been available at Grass Valley's Nevada Union High School Library since the Spring.KVMR News spoke with Judith Berliner and Brandon Dellis, library assistant at the NU library.

We dive into all that and so much more on today's show. Senator Roger Marshall, Republican from Kansas discussed his efforts to fight Joe Biden's Transgender policies. The senator also gave us an update on his effort to ban 'Kid-Friendly' drag shows. Breitbart News senior legal analysis Ken Klukowski also joined the program and broke down the major constitutional victories from gun ownership to Voter ID. Tom Homan, former acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement joined the program. Tom fired off on Biden and DHS Sec Mayorkas, who Tom says should be impeached when Republicans take back Congress over his disastrous border and immigration polices.
