Welcome back to the Catapulting Commissions podcast with your host, Anthony Garcia. Today's guest is Robert Gonzales. Robert is the COO and Co-founder of MyBooks.Pro, which offers profitability and bookkeeping services to real estate agents, sales professionals, and investors. Before founding MyBooks.PRO, Robert was the National Sales Trainer at Trumaker and the National Sales Director at VP Marketing Solutions. He was responsible for recruiting, training, and developing Sales Representatives (Outfitters) throughout Northern California and other major markets in Denver, NYC, Seattle, & LA. He created and refined a full sales program for VP Marketing Solution in addition to onboarding Sales Reps (territory leads). During his time there, annual sales grew from $1 Million in 2013 to $4 million the next year, and again to $7 Million in 2015. Before that, Robert build is foundational knowledge of sales at Vector Marketing as a District Manager of the #1 sales team in 2009. On today's show, Anthony and Robert are going to dive in and discuss how sales professionals and entrepreneurs can keep more of the money they make. How do we become more profitable in today's climate? First, Robert talks about some of the lessons he learned early in his career that has given him lifelong practices. For Robert, sales begin by transferring enthusiasm from one person to another. Management was the same thing--transferring that enthusiasm to your team who can offer it to their clients. He also remembers trying to balance the excitement of running a business and managing a team and the reality of keeping tabs on everything that comes with being in charge of an enterprise. Robert then breaks down how he developed and wrote a sales curriculum and sales training materials for his team. He says it mostly comes from his own experience as a sales representative, but he also pulls from the feedback he got from the expertise he shares with his team and their clients. This allows him to gather a wealth of knowledge on what clients like, dislike, and their perspective. He quickly learned that a major component of building a relationship with a client is understanding how they feel. Now, Robert works as the COO of MyBooks.Pro. He is in the business of profitability coaching, which gets to the core of today's episode--how can entrepreneurs keep more of the money they make? Robert breaks it down to two categories: sell more and spend less. Selling more is certainly more fun, but Robert is in the business of helping you spend less. Robert dives into some mistakes that some entrepreneurs make in their first year of doing business that has a direct impact on their income. The first, he says, isn't actually related to sales. It's spending outside of their means. There are countless numbers of examples of people who feel like they aren't making enough money, when really, they are spending too much. Living like a broke college kid can go a long way. Entrepreneurs are the most sold to business demographics. There will always be expenses. It's important to be sure about your revenue before deciding how much to spend. It's important to prioritize what you need to spend money on as a business owner. Robert says it's important to ask “is this essential?” and then if it's a yes or maybe answer, ask “how much revenue is this generating?” It can be as small as $30 a month. That adds up! Are you getting that much value out of it? It's also important to keep track of overdraft fees. Those can haunt you when your paycheck comes. Robert and Anthony discuss in-depth becoming incorporated, self-employment taxes and separating business and personal expenses to keep more money. For decades and decades, Robert Miller had a dream he didn't pursue. Though he'd played music in his early twenties he left the industry to get his law degree and start a family. He often thought about playing in a band again but he didn't act on that until he was seriously injured by a car while riding his bike. He needed 8 hours of surgery to repair his broken neck and arm but, in a huge stroke of luck, his spinal cord was intact. For Robert that was a sign. At the age of 60 he put together a band, began playing festivals and concerts, and now, 9 albums and over 4 million video views later, he is living the life he feels was gifted to him when his world changed the day of his accident. In this episode, Robert shares his story, his perspective on his life before reuniting with music and after, and offers advice for making a dream come true. When emerging technologies collide, the effects are game changing. Those at the forefront of augmented and virtual reality have already transformed multiple industries. But what happens when you apply blockchain technology, putting both the 3D and real world on chain? It allows for unparalleled personalization of data and most importantly, profitability that anyone can build on, reaping just rewards. Robert Rice is the founder and CEO of Transmira Inc. the developer of Omniscape, an XR platform seamlessly blending AR and VR. He also happened to coin the term XR, the umbrella term for mixing the two mixed reality technologies. I was pleased to bump into Robert at an investment summit in Dubai, where he was giving a presentation on how the BSV blockchain allows him to augment smart cities in a way that is safe and secure. We sat down to record the latest episode of CoinGeek Conversations.Having started out as a comic book store owner, Rice was the first to use PC components in arcade games and was noted as an Internet Gaming Pioneer by Advertizing Age magazine in 1996. Flash forward to today, he explained Omniscape’s unparalleled advertizing offer to brands. “Starbucks for example can do a campaign and geolocate 3D Starbucks coffee cups all over the place.” Imagine Pokémon GO, but once you’ve found your coffee cup you can redeem it at the nearest Starbucks for an actual cup of coffee. So, what’s in it for Starbucks? By placing objects where their customers are, they are able to target audiences on an individual level, driving them straight into their stores. “Imagine watching a Superbowl and a Doritos commercial comes on TV. Well, whip out your phone because there’s probably going to be a 3D bag of Doritos that you can grab.” Triggering content from live streamed TV, Robert explained the super impressive part. “Let’s say there’s three people sitting on a couch watching the football game and the Doritos commercial comes on TV, we can deliver a different experience to each one. Maybe I’m getting the free bag of Doritos, the guy next to me is getting an offer on Dr. Pepper… now that I can deliver it that way, I’m also getting data back.” He is taking targeted advertizing to the next level by allowing for data to be broken down to each individual household member’s preferences, tracking and changing content in real time. Another industry that Robert and his team are shaking up is global digital real estate. And he’s keen to see individuals having a fun experience which allows them to profit from ownership. “For 2 or 3 Dollars, you can go onto Omniscape and buy a location somewhere. And that space is yours for 2 years, just like a Domain name.” You then have the power to trade your space for profit. And for those wanting to make a social impact, Robert is also hoping to create space. For example, by buying a piece of the ocean, Omniscape hopes to donate the profits to charities that are fighting to protect the world’s oceans. Like the data offering for advertizers, the virtual real estate platform will exist on the blockchain. And Robert is adamant that this is only possible on BSV. “There really is no choice when you compare the technical pieces: the size, speed, scale, cost; you’d have to be an idiot in my industry to do something else that’s not Bitcoin SV.” For Robert, it’s important to not only build things for the benefit of businesses and brands. But for individuals too. “I think that, if we can make it easy for anybody: business, brand, consumer, content creator to make things and monetize it quickly, I think we’ll destroy everybody else.” Check out this week’s episode of CoinGeek Conversation to learn more about what Robert is doing in the space, his predictions for game changing industries over the next couple of decades and his comic character alter ego. In this episode of Beer with Darren, I spoke to Robert Woodford from The Marketing Junction about marketing in-house vs. outsourcing and how to do effective marketing in recruitment businesses. The Marketing Junction offers outsourced marketing for recruitment businesses before this he worked at a variety of different recruitment companies over 20 years. He fell into recruitment, as many do but also fell into marketing after completing a degree in economics. He prefers the start-up life as a marketer as he terms marketing for larger businesses 'a glorified administrator' - this being exec or manager level. You often get told how things are done. Robert wears many different marketing hats and is continually doing different things through outsourcing for a variety of types of companies. As a business owner, you have no choice to become sales to some degree. For Robert, he grew from consulting on companies to have to sell to get business. What advice do you have for new freelancers? If you are doing it because you've always wanted to great. If it's out of necessity and it's not actually what you want to do or passionate about, then be careful because it's hard work. Surround yourself with your 'competitors' as you will get good advice and people are more than happy to help. What does the phrase recruitment marketing mean to you? Robert loves recruitment marketing as you have an element of both B2B and B2C. Marketing within recruitment is so unique, you have 3 autonomous parts - the clients that are people, the candidates and the recruitment consultants who are the brand. So marketing within recruitment you are balancing all of those parts. How do you define the ROI of marketing? Robert often asks the question back 'how do you define the ROI of your telephone system or CRM? Because actually, you don't define the ROI because you just know it works. Within marketing, we all do Google Analytics but ultimately some things are just impossible to track. A lot of marketing is to do with solidifying relationships so can you actually put a figure on that? Marketers add so much more to recruitment businesses than they are given credit for. They are often responsible for the culture because internal marketing is great. Again how do you measure that? Often in his reporting, he adds an anecdotal note - that could be internal views that show your importance but they aren't measurable. The challenge for anyone within recruitment marketing is that most CEO's in the companies are recruiters so they have never had to work with marketers before.

"You Might Also Like" brings us to the end of the second season. 20 episodes total for two seasons for this modern version of the Twilight Twilight Zone to establish itself. So, we guess the question is then, “did it, in fact, establish itself?” The best answer we can give is we really hope there is a third season. Let’s take the 10th episode of season two. For Robert, this episode unintentionally mirrors season one’s 10th episode. Season one’s last episode went for broke and it was awesome. Season two went for broke in the first half of the episode but then went “meh” the rest of the way...at least that's the way we saw it. Let’s still hope for a season three. The show is overall worth keeping establishing itself. Thanks for joining us!! And keep checking in monthly as we cover the classic episodes. Oh, My!! Take care everyone! The landscape painter and print-maker Norman Ackroyd meets the writer Robert Macfarlane. Norman, who celebrated his 80th birthday this year, invites Robert to his studio in Bermondsey, London. They discuss their fascination with wild landscapes and islands, and how they attempt to come to a deeper understanding of place. They also share their thoughts on their working methods: for Norman, printmaking is like writing music - trying to capture and fix light and weather. For Robert, writing is a strange and solitary process: he reflects on the rhythm of prose and reads his latest “selkie” or seal-folk song. Norman has been etching and painting for seven decades, with a focus on the British landscape - from the south of England to the most northerly parts of Scotland. His works are in the collections of leading museums and galleries around the world. Robert has written widely about the natural world: his book The Old Ways is a best-selling exploration of Britain's ancient paths. In 2017 he published The Lost Words, a collaboration with the artist Jackie Morris, in which they aimed to bring nearby nature – the animals, trees and plants from our landscapes – back into the lives and stories of Britain’s children. This episode recounts some of the stories heard at the recent Leader’s Symposium in Arizona. You’ll be encouraged too, by the amazing things God has done through the work of common people who were willing to step out and make a difference. Pro-Life Stories Don’t Happen Because Of Courageous People One of the speakers at our recent Leadership Symposium was Sue Thayer, a woman who formerly managed a Planned Parenthood abortion facility. In delivering her speech, the first line out of her mouth was something to this effect: “People often say I’m courageous, but I’m not.” It may sound like false humility but we can assure you, Sue is one of the most genuine and humble people working in the Pro-Life movement. As she shared her story in a very relatable way, it was easy to see how anyone can get involved and make a massive difference in bringing about the end of abortion in their community. Stories of Abortion Opposition Came From All Corners of the Globe One of the most beautiful things experienced at the Arizona Leadership Symposium was the eclectic nature of the people who gathered. It seemed there were people of any race you could imagine, young and old, experienced and inexperienced, all gathered for one reason - to learn how they could be more effective in their part of the battle to end abortion. It was encouraging to watch as relationships were formed and encouragement was doled out in ample supply among the participants. It was a great demonstration of the power of stories and the example of faith. It’s Not Just The 40DFL Leadership That Does The Equipping Among the bright spots at the Leadership Symposium were the many stories we heard from the most unassuming people. Many told of their participation in 40DFL campaigns and the dramatic difference they’ve seen happen as a result. Friends, it’s happening, abortion is coming to an end one faithful action at a time. Whether its people praying in front of abortion facilities or humble servants organizing full-fledged campaigns, momentum is growing. Listen to this episode to hear what people just like you are doing to end abortion in their communities. There’s Always Time For a Bit of Fun At Our Leadership Symposiums After this year’s Symposium, Steve and Robert stayed after for a bit and decided to take in a Diamondback Baseball Game. For Steve, it was a great opportunity to show his stuff on national TV as a home run ball came his way. For Robert, it was an interesting and unusual cultural experience (he’s from the UK). In this episode we give Steve a hard time about his nationally televised flub, talk about the differences between baseball and cricket, and pray for the end of abortion - at least in part - so that we’ll all have time to do more fun stuff like Steve and Robert did. Robert Beeson is an author and former music executive for Grammy nominated bands like Jars of Clay and Casting Crowns. His career brought him much success but it was within the busyness of that success that Robert will tell you his marriage crumbled away. After 13 years of marriage, Robert was left to raise his 3 young daughters on his own. He became a bit of an expert on navigating the Solo Parenting life. Which brings us to talking about his lessons of identity that he chronicles in his book, Going Solo: Hope and Healing for the Single Mom or Dad. If you’re not single parenting or divorced, don’t think this episode is not for you! Have you ever felt abandoned, frustrated with your situation, or been forced to start over in your life? I think my time with Robert and the wisdom he shares, speaks to all of us, as well as those of us who are walking the road of being a solo parent or those who have been divorced. When Robert hit rock bottom, that's when he found Jesus. Even though he always knew about God and would say he was definitely a Christian throughout most of his life, it was when everything was stripped away that he began to truly understand how his identity had very little to do with his role or title in life. For Robert, this realization began with his divorce and parenting his kids on his own. But for any of us that are walking a road of difficulty and loneliness, Robert's lesson is available for us to learn too. Another important aspect we discussed in this episode, was supporting those who are single parenting. Robert brought to light that supporting a solo parent doesn't always look like what we think it does. Being consciously aware of those in your life is an important tip in loving on others. It’s vital to the struggling single parent that they have support. And so many of us can make that effort to reach out and encourage them in the best way possible by simply saying, “I see you. You’re doing a great job. I’m here for you.” If you're a solo parent, get ready to be nodding your head In agreement with the struggle that Robert has faced as he was isolated from church, family, and friends once he was divorced. He recounts the awkwardness of divorce as everyone secretly wonders what "went wrong." And the tricky matter of who is to blame for the crumbling of a marriage. Ultimately, Robert brings us back to how he found that God loves him for how God made him and no other role will hold the same kind of worth. And, one of my favorite parts of Robert's book was an unlikely lesson he learned through N’Sync and Justin Timberlake. Let me know if you enjoyed that part too! I was amused that even Robert learned a few lessons from his own story in our time together. If you’re a solo parent, I hope you feel encouraged today! And of course we all know somebody that's walking the road of parenting solo and has struggled through the difficulty of divorce. I hope you feel more equipped to be able to help your friend! Consider grabbing Robert's book today and walking the road with a solo parent. Thorough Robert’s book, there's an abundance of opportunity to learn more about yourself and how God views you.

Click here: http://bit.ly/mtgprotutor-ep71 First Set Odyssey Favorite Set Darksteel Favorite Card Woolly Thoctar What makes Magic: The Gathering fun for you? Robert enjoys how he can play Magic with his friends without having to resort to drinking for entertainment. But most of all he loves drafting and taking on the challenge of sitting down with 7 people while trying his best to beat them. For Robert, it’s all about drafting the best he can and reading his opponent’s signals while trying not to give his own away. Early Challenge The fundamental rules of Magic tripped Robert up at first. He never had a rule book that showed him the steps of a turn and how to play. Small rules can make for deep plays that go over new player’s heads. Robert also stuck to big creatures when he first started, which made it easy for tempo spells to take him down. Playing with friends proficient in these spells helped show him how to balance his deck and move on from his full on beat down decks. Level Up Moment During Innistrad block Robert attended a GP in Nashville at the Grand Ole Opry, which is an amazing venue for an event: think of a city housed in the pterodactyl cage from Jurassic Park 3. Being unemployed at the time let him play a lot of Magic leading up to the event, and he managed to Day 2 for the first time. At the end of the GP he managed to rank higher than Jon Finkel, who was in his first Draft Pod, which helped Robert realize he could step up and progress in the competitive scene. Proudest Magic Moment While many players point to a personal achievement as their proudest moment, Robert instead points to the amazing Magic community he is a part of. One of his long time Magic friends sadly took the community by surprise when he committed suicide years back. Robert’s community held several great memorial events which helped donate money to their friend’s family. For Robert, the feeling of helping and maintaining this tight knit community has been the best feeling to come out of Magic for him, even more so than making Top 8 at GP Mexico. Heaviest Magic Moment One year when Robert went to Gen Con, he left his backpack in the care of his friend and it ended up getting stolen. He lost entire collections of cards and it was incredibly hurtful; those decks and collections were a reflection of him. He thought about quitting Magic then and there, but his friends and community helped keep him in the game by lending him cards they knew he was fond of. Robert emphasizes that, while it may be awkward, you should really find out who out of your friends can be trusted to look after 5 thousand dollars worth of cards. He also recommends not bringing your entire collection to an event. Biggest Mistake Players Make Robert finds that many players find it hard to slow down and focus on their plays and outs. While you don’t want to be annoying by slowing down to a crawl, taking a few extra moments to consider your outs and how your cards can be played is tremendously beneficial. Robert sees players plateauing when it comes to thinking outside the box. Many players will play a card exactly how it’s meant to be played, but they don’t take the time to consider what other lines of play a card can open for them. Sealed & Draft Tips Sealed: Looking at your best cards and knowing what your best colors are some of Robert’s guidelines for Sealed. He finds that removal spells are key in most limited formats, as you are undoubtedly going to have to deal with sizable threats. Draft: For Robert, success in Drafting comes down to card evaluation. Doing research to know what creatures are in a specific format and what spells you need to kill them are crucial. You need to be mindful of what cards you pass on as well, as that sends signals to everyone else as to what color you are playing to and what your weaknesses are. For A New Draft Player: Robert's basic outline for a deck consists of 15 creatures, 8 non creatures spells and 17 lands. "I don't let my business run me, I run my business." "If you have the determination to start and run your own business, then you can have the determination to run it the way you want to run it."- Robert Sofia About: Robert Sofia- Co-Founder of Platinum Advisory Strategies Overview: Robert shares details about his company, Platinum Advisory Strategies- and offers helpful advice for those thinking about breaking into the entrepreneurial world. Highlights: Background: Robert is a long-time public speaker, and hard worker who skipped undergraduate school and worked his way up in the business world where he eventually settled into the marketing/branding scene. In his twenties, he worked for Ford Motor Company where he actually developed a program for them to help build brand loyalty. It was promoted heavily at the Ford dealership where he was working, and then Ford adopted that for their entire company. The experience he gained at Ford leveraged him for more opportunities throughout the years up until he decided to start his own companies. About Platinum Advisory Strategies: Platinum is a company that helps small businesses market like larger companies. Platinum Advisory Strategies takes all of their efforts and focuses on one niche market, and then they strive to understand the industry, the audience, and the people they're working for to merge that into the right branding message. They offer a unique program where they only work with a select group of advisors that fit their profile and that do not work directly with their competition. These advisors actually pay a monthly fee to Platinum to be their marketing partner. As a client at Platinum Advisory Strategies, you are given a consultant specifically assigned to your account and that consultant becomes your guide, your coach, who builds a personal plan for you. They assess what you're weaknesses and strengths are and build an action plan. Then, they help you along the way and answer any questions you may have. Behind that consultant you have an entire team who works on the back end of things like your website, videos, social media, etc. Biggest Challenge: Helping potential clients seeing that they need the help and it's worth the price. Key For Growth and Success: Platinum Advisory Strategies started in 2009. Robert shares that the key that has helped grow was hiring the right team. Robert has many roles he has to juggle and it's very important that he has the perfect team he can trust to help manage things- especially while he is traveling. Speaking Schedule: Robert could be gone every week if he wanted to, but he chooses only to travel 1-2 times a month. He limits himself to the engagements he wants to do to keep the work-life balance. Goals: Over the last 3 years, their company has grown over 1,700 percent in revenue. They have continued to cut costs and grow profit successfully. Because the business is growing quickly, they are always looking for more employees. Robert's goal is to make the company better tomorrow than it was today. For the company, he prefers to take his goals daily, weekly, and monthly- in small increments- to make sure that things that need to be done are not overlooked by the long term goals. For Robert, he wants to live the life that he desires- he's not particularly motivated by the desire to have more things or money. He wants to help his company and his employees. Robert's drive is to have balance in life, he's not concerned about what the world sees as wealthy. Characteristics of a Successful Entrepreneur: First off, being an entrepreneur requires commitment. You have to understand that it's not going to come easy right away- there is a lot of work involved. If you give up too easily, you will not be successful. Have a modest recognition of your own limitations. If you are going to build anything where you'll have employees, you need have good leadership ability. It's also important that you have good business sense. Family support, or support in general is another great tool that will help you do well in whatever you do. Take Away: Robert reminds us not to buy into the hype of entrepreneurship. Understand that you might fail, and make sure you're comfortable with that. You won't always succeed. If you can, try to leverage your existing relationships or career into a business opportunity. Retinopathy can destroy your vision. Robert’s virtual blindness is due to diabetic retinopathy. On the all important subject of the damage to one's vision due to diabetes. Robert Wolk was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the tender age of 8, at 21 he lost 95% of his vision and at age 28 his type 1 diabetes was cured as a result of a double transplant. He was very fortunate to have a kidney as well as a new pancreas. His type1 diabetes was the thing of the past. He was cured of his diabetes. Thus proving that nothing is impossible. Unfortunately for Robert, his eyesight remained at 5% vision leaving him virtually blind. For Robert, compromised vision was no obstacle. He worked hard and achieved all his goals. He ran New York Marathon last year as well as walking 600 miles to pay homage to a sacred place. At present, he is writing two books, he is a coach people to success and busy creating products to sell. He very kindly shared his story with me on the subject of eyesight and what diabetics can do to help themselves to prevent and to pre-empt damage and loss to their vision. In the interview, Robert talked at length about the mistakes that he made by not taking action at the right time. In this longer than usual episode, Robert offers advise, tips and recommendations to help all those who are at risk of developing diabetes. I hope Robert's story serves to inspire people with diabetes, at risk of developing diabetes or even those affected by retinopathy to take action and to help themselves.
