What do ancient manuscripts found in desert caves have to do with the Bible in your hands today? In this episode, Dr. Andrew Perrin—author of Lost Words and Forgotten Worlds—joins us to unpack the strange, surprising, and deeply relevant world of the Dead Sea Scrolls. We talk lost texts, wild apocalyptic imagination, messianic hopes before Jesus, and why these 2,000-year-old documents still matter for Christian faith, biblical interpretation, and how we read Scripture today. The news regarding Kim Porter's posthumous memoir, titled Kim's Lost Words, has stirred significant controversy. The memoir, which surfaced earlier this year, allegedly comprises diary entries from Porter's time with Sean "Diddy" Combs. Within its pages, Porter describes harrowing instances of emotional and physical abuse, including allegations of Diddy assaulting her with a chair and making death threats. The memoir also details accusations involving Diddy's infidelity, manipulation, and control throughout their relationship. The memoir, which has reportedly been found on a flash drive by Porter's friends, paints a dark picture of their relationship, stretching from the 1990s to the years leading up to her passing in 2018. While the memoir has not been officially authenticated, its release has drawn renewed scrutiny, especially in light of Diddy's recent legal troubles.However...Lawanda Lane, Kim Porter's longtime best friend and caregiver to her twin daughters with Sean "Diddy" Combs, has firmly denied the existence of any memoir authored by Porter. Lane, who lived with Porter for over two decades, stated that Porter never wrote such a manuscript and emphasized that, as someone who was with Porter daily, she would have been aware of any such writings. She also mentioned that after Porter's passing, she was responsible for organizing Porter's belongings and found no evidence of a memoir.Lane expressed skepticism about individuals claiming to possess Porter's writings, suggesting that these assertions are unfounded. She highlighted that Porter was an extremely private person and would not have documented her personal experiences in a memoir.to contact me:bobbycapucci!protonmail.comBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-moscow-murders-and-more--5852883/support.

This week, part three of our celebration of ‘70s rock! Our previous two episodes consisted of interviews that, for the most part, had not been heard on our show before. But we realized that there were also a number of artists that people were asking about… like Aerosmith, Heart, April Wine… and to the chagrin of Christopher and the joy of Tom… KISS!What we’re going to do is take highlights from those previous episodes and play the best parts. And we’ll tell you where you can find the original interviews. It’s a continuation of the ‘70s rock series but almost like a greatest hits package.Included in this episode is the brutal rivalry between Aersomith and KISS, which at times got pretty ugly. Plus we have Steve Miller from his heyday and Tom Petty from around the time of his breakout album, Damn The Torpedoes. Lost Words, hosted by Christopher Ward and Tom Jokic, is heard in more than 100 countries worldwide and on radio stations across Canada, including Newstalk 1010 Toronto, CJAD 800 Montreal, 580 CFRA Ottawa, AM 800 CKLW Windsor, 610 CKTB St Catharines, CFAX Victoria, AM1150 Kelowna and 91x in Belleville. We start this episode with Tom telling the story of how he almost got fired from his job – and how it almost meant the end of Famous Lost Words before it even started! Then we continue with our series on ‘70s Rock. Last week we featured Boston, The Doobie Brothers, Jethro Tull, BTO and others. This week, more from that era, including a great series of interview clips with Mick Jones and Lou Gramm of Foreigner, with the latter taking a big swing at the former's dictatorial ways. Then a very interesting interview with Journey, right from the time when they are about to take off – but haven't yet had a major hit. We also have another early career interview with ELO – and the struggle to marry classical and rock and make it work in a live setting. Plus, Dennis DeYoung from Styx explains how a Chicago disc jockey changed the fortunes of that band. Then, in a clip from the mid ‘70s, Steve Priest of Sweet tells us how they changed their image before they hit North America – and explains the story behind Ballroom Blitz. And for Canadian rock fans, we have Prism and Trooper telling us about ambitious plans, their biggest hits, and the toughest Canadian audience to play for. We've been doing this show for almost 7 years and we're finally doing series of episodes on that much maligned and much beloved genre… ‘70s rock! This week, we have classic interviews with the likes of Brad Delp, the phenomenal lead singer of Boston, who we lost far too soon. Delp talks about his humble beginnings as well as the obsessive leader of the group, Tom Scholz. We also have some great clips from the Doobie Brothers. One is from their mid-‘70s heyday, one is with Michael McDonald – and then we have Tom's 2018 conversation with guitarist Patrick Simmons. And there's a very good reason you haven't heard this interview sooner… but it's an embarrassing one (for Tom)! Also, Ian Anderson from Jethro Tull talks about the very funny origin of the band's name and the story behind their first hit And we take care of business with one of the most popular bands in Canadian history - BTO! And Christopher talks about one of the greatest musical experiences of his life – and it happened just a few weeks ago! In this episode, I discuss the book everyone is talking about. Lost Words (Journey for Justice From The Other Side). A memoir allegedly written by Kim Porter, the Mother of Sean Comb's children. While the details cannot be proven true, I give my opinion on how believable these stories are. Then, a conviction and sentencing surrounding the murder of Young Dolph results in more questions than closure. And Latto comes through for her fans once again. This time, a young lady fired for doing a challenge to one of her songs gets a video with Latto and a handful of cash. The Downfall Of Diddy | The Case Against Sean 'Puffy P Diddy' Combs
Diddy's children speak out against a so-called memoir claiming to be written by their late mother, Kim Porter. ** The book, which details shocking allegations about Porter and Diddy's relationship, was published after a man claimed he was given Porter's writings. Porter's children deny she wrote the book, calling the publication a money grab and asking for the public to let their mother rest in peace. The children's statement comes amidst legal troubles for their father, who is currently being held without bail in New York on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. Diddy's Dark Secrets: A Tell-All From Beyond The Grave The life of Sean 'Diddy' Combs has always been shrouded in controversy, but a new book, "Kim's Lost Words", alleges that the music mogul's dark side is far more sinister than previously known. The book, purportedly a collection of diaries by Diddy's late girlfriend, Kim Porter, paints a harrowing picture of abuse, sexual deviance, and alleged criminal activity. Published just days before Diddy was indicted on federal charges of racketeering and sex trafficking, "Kim's Lost Words" details a disturbing pattern of alleged violence against Porter. Porter claims that Diddy slapped her after she refused to use a strap-on during sex, and even threatened her life with a gun. The book also details alleged incidents of Diddy forcing Porter to cover up his assaults and hiding evidence of his crimes. The book's most shocking allegations center around Diddy's alleged sexual exploits. Porter claims she discovered and copied tapes of Diddy having sex with "young boys" he managed, including a then-18-year-old pop star. Porter also details alleged orgies at Diddy's homes, involving celebrities and both male and female partners. The book's publisher, Chris Todd, claims he obtained a thumb drive of Porter's writing from close friends and published it under a pseudonym. He has not offered any documentary evidence to support its authenticity, but the book is currently for sale on Amazon. While the veracity of the book's claims is yet to be established, its publication comes at a time when Diddy faces serious legal challenges. The book and Diddy's legal troubles create a compelling narrative of a man who seems to have built his empire on the backs of others. Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? Pastor Caleb Smith joins Rick and Svea on today's episode. They dig into what is perhaps one of the most debated stories Jesus ever told, The Parable of the Dishonest Manager in Luke 16.Show Notes00:00 Intro Rick's story from the gym trying a new workout and being less than shrewd03:13 Many preachers skip this parable because it can throw people off, but Caleb was excited to study and preach this passage. 05:03 Discussion of reading the Bible through the original, intended audience's perspective07:40 There is some cutting room floor content that didn't make it into the sermon, as follows: Some of the cultural aspects of the characters: >The rich man was likely known throughout the region as having many ties in the community. >The manager was "not going to dig", because that was almost as lowly as being a beggar.10:55 We don't have to identify ourselves with any of the characters in this parable. The point Jesus was trying to drive home wasn't to be like either of the main characters. Western readers tend to read parables as ethical behavior examples. 11:46 We tend to focus on behavior modification as the most important thing. Jesus emphasizes our value modifications.14:15 This parable is interesting because it is directed at the disciples rather than the pharisees like in the preceding three parables.14:56 If dishonest people focus on relationships, then how much more should believers focus on relationships?17:04 We need to put our mental energy to work to strategically focus on building relationships.19:15 Two people can do the exact same things in relationships but have very different intentions, one being loving and the other not. Manipulators want from, not for.21:18 Caleb is wearing yellow socks that are "actually orange and white for University of Tennessee".22:05 Moments of crisis often reveal what we value most and what gives us security. We should establish our values and security before these crises come.28:10 "Jesus was firing his disciples from a job he never gave them in the first place," meaning that our security in Jesus doesn't make it our responsibility to keep God safe from unrighteousness or imperfection. What jobs would Jesus fire us from that he never gave us in the first place?32:13 Recommendation for Poet and Peasant by Kenneth Bailey and articles from the Bible Project on this parable in Luke 16.32:50 Rick admonishes people to not wait to develop friendship until you need it. You can't wait to build friendships in a crisis moment. Our church is committed to support building friendships in what we do.34:43 The next series coming up is Sunday School for Grown-Ups. We hope to bring new insights into these "kids stories".
Today's TopicRick and Svea discuss one of Jesus' most famous stories, The Prodigal Son found in Luke 15:11-32.Topics Discussed in this Episode00:00 Intro - Rick's late caffeine morning.01:39 Talking about the word, "Lost."04:21 Love requires we be sensitive about the language we use, especially around those who have not yet come to faith in Jesus. We shouldn't be motivated by proclaiming, we should be motivated by people hearing - and hearing our intent.08:48 The crowd who heard this story by Jesus and with whom they may have identified.11:59 Focusing on the older brother.13:02 Practicing the Way classes this week tackling sin and our view of a Father who would make a fool of himself by running to us to shower us with love and forgiveness when we repent.14:57 "Riffing" on God the Father and the father in the parable.19:52 Tim Keller and The Prodigal Son. If you live this you'll be misunderstood and people won't think you take sin or doctrine seriously.23:44 The difference between doing and becoming.29:36 The song "Stained Glass Masquerade" Ricked used in the message. Being a safe place to be real with each other about our struggles and our sin. Knowing we have "spiritual friends" who have our back.
Rick and Svea reverse roles today. He puts Svea in the "hot seat" as they discuss the genius of the stories in Luke 15:1-10. In these parables, Jesus simultaneously speaks to, and shows compassion toward, two groups of people who viewed themselves as being at opposite ends of the spectrum.Topics Discussed in this Episode00:00 Intro01:14 Mother's Day is this weekend. Svea has a lot of "mom labels."04:29 Getting into the Lost Words of Jesus series - parables of lost things. Jesus really knew his audience. How did Svea get into studying the text?06:07 How was Jesus' audience of sinners, religious leaders, and tax collectors both valued, loved, honored, but also lost? What was that audience like? How did Jesus connect with them all?08:45 Jesus was showing his heart and compassion for his audience. 09:46 Do we view these parables from the lens of a Pharisee, a lost sheep, or a Shepherd? How did different groups in Jesus's original audience approach his stories?15:08 How did these parables affect people at that time? What possibly were Jesus and Luke's intentions in telling and recording these stories?17:04 Application points: How do we avoid isolation within Christian communities and build relationships with those who are different from us?22:57 Should we maintain relationships even if the other person is never going to follow Jesus How do we approach relationships with nonbelievers as a Church and as individuals? What role does God play in these relationships?27:54 Close in Prayer.
