What does it really take to build an e-commerce business when you are starting from scratch? In this episode of High Voltage Business Builders, Neil sits down with Ganesh, an IT professional who joined Voltage Business Builders while looking for a way to build something beyond his career.Ganesh shares how he went from having little e-commerce experience to launching his first Amazon brand, Moga, a stainless steel kitchen product brand built around quality, affordability, and products he personally understands. They talk about why there are no shortcuts in business, how planning makes execution easier, and what Ganesh learned after crossing $100K in sales within his first six months on Amazon. He also breaks down the importance of product validation, using data to optimize campaigns, managing capital for growth, and building a business step by step while still working full-time.In this episode, we cover✅ Why Building Beyond Your Career Requires a Bigger VisionA stable career can provide security, but it does not always create the flexibility, ownership, or long-term growth many entrepreneurs want. This episode shows how e-commerce can become a path to building an asset outside of traditional employment.✅ The Reality of Launching on AmazonAmazon is not a set-it-and-forget-it business. Listings, images, descriptions, ads, seasons, and buyer behavior change constantly. Sellers have to pay attention to the data, test carefully, and keep adjusting based on what the market is showing them.✅ What It Takes to Cross $100K in SalesEarly growth comes from execution, not theory. Crossing $100K in sales requires product validation, aggressive learning, campaign testing, and a willingness to move through the messy launch phase before the business becomes more stable.✅ Why Business Becomes a Family Learning ExperienceBuilding a business affects more than the founder. When family is involved, the journey becomes a way to teach ownership, discipline, delayed gratification, and what it looks like to build something from the ground up.✅ Why There Are No Shortcuts to Building a Real BusinessA real business is built in phases. The foundation matters. Planning matters. Execution matters. The best path is not copying someone else's template, but learning the basics, adapting the process to your situation, and continuing to move forward.

From immigrating to the U.S. at 12 years old to representing Cape Verde at the Olympics, Ruben Sança's story is one of consistency, patience, and staying in it long after most people step away.Ruben Sança is a Cape Verdean Olympian and elite distance runner who competed in the 5,000 meters at the 2012 Olympic Games in London after previously representing Cape Verde at the 2011 World Championships. He is a former standout at UMass Lowell, earning multiple All-America honors and helping lead the program to conference championships during his collegiate career. Sança holds multiple Cape Verdean national records and has run personal bests of 1:05 in the half marathon and 2:18 in the marathon while competing internationally and across the U.S. road racing circuit. In addition to competing, he coaches athletes and works professionally in leadership roles focused on education and opportunity for students.Ruben talks about how his relationship with running has evolved over time, from thinking he was “running across the country” in middle school to building the kind of durability that allows him to train at a high level for decades. There's also a constant theme of balance. Balancing training with a career. Knowing when to push and when to back off. Building a life that supports running, not one that's consumed by it.Jon and Ruben get into:• growing up in Boston as an immigrant and finding running by accident• why he never wanted to think of himself as “gifted”• building durability and handling high mileage over time• transitioning from track to the marathon• representing Cape Verde at the 2012 Olympics• why he's going after LA 2028 at age 41• managing 100+ mile weeks with a full-time job• what sustainable excellence actually looks like• confidence, belonging, and showing up to races differently• the growth of running culture in Dorchester and Roxbury• why community matters more than paceThis is a conversation for anyone trying to figure out how to do both, pursue something meaningful while building a full life around it.Stay connected:Follow Ruben: https://www.instagram.com/rubenpsanca/This episode is supported by:Precision Fuel & Hydration - Dial your fueling in this year. If you've ever tried to build something on the side while working a full-time job, you know how quickly things can get overwhelming. In this episode, Sean “Tater” Roberson, the creator behind But Mostly Disney, shares how he's been able to grow his brand while still balancing a full-time career. We get into how he works within the limits of his schedule, how he approaches creating content consistently, and most importantly, about managing expectations. He shares his take on what growth really looks like when you're not doing this full-time, and how to keep showing up even when progress feels slow. This is a practical look at building something sustainable without burning yourself out trying to do too much.----------------------Key TakeawaysYou don't need more time, you need better focusWhen your schedule is tight, clarity matters more than anything. Knowing what to prioritize makes it possible to move forward without feeling overwhelmed.Consistency beats intensity every timeYou don't have to go all-in for a week and disappear for a month. Smaller, steady efforts are what actually build momentum over time.Progress comes from showing up, not waiting for perfect conditionsThere's always going to be a reason to wait. The creators who grow are the ones who keep going anyway.Your energy matters as much as your strategyIf your process isn't sustainable, it won't last. Building something long-term requires protecting your time and avoiding burnout.A side hustle should support your life, not take it overThe goal isn't to feel constantly behind. “I'm just a regular guy who has put years and years of work in and it finally paid off… If you keep working at it, the sky is the limit. I only ran 30:50 for the 10K in college and now I'm running 2:09 for the marathon. If you like people who put their nose to the grindstone and don't quit on their dreams, then I'm probably the guy to root for.”My guest for today's episode is Turner Wiley. If you're looking for one of the most relatable stories in American marathoning right now, he might be it. Turner didn't come through the sport the traditional way. No NCAA titles, no national team buzz. He was a Division II runner at Seattle Pacific who never qualified for nationals. He was the kind of athlete most people assume fades out of the sport after college. But he didn't. He kept showing up, kept building, and kept believing that the marathon might eventually unlock something bigger.Fast forward a few years and he's now a 2:09 marathoner, the runner-up at last December's Marathon Project, and a Brooks sponsored athlete heading into Boston — all while working a full-time job at Seattle Children's Hospital and raising a newborn at home.Turner is the guy waking up at 5 a.m. to get his first run in before work. He's logging 130–140 mile weeks, mostly solo, pushing a stroller on second runs, and stacking years of consistent, unflashy training until it finally clicked. In this conversation, we talk about that slow burn of development — from blowing up in his debut marathon in Paris, grinding through the club system in Seattle, to breaking through with a 2:09 at The Marathon Project. We get into what it looks like to chase elite performance without making running your entire identity, how fatherhood has reshaped his perspective, and why he genuinely believes his best racing might still be ahead of him. This is the next episode in a series of interviews that we're doing with Brooks marathoners in the lead-up to the Boston Marathon. Stay tuned as we announce our schedule of events with Brooks out of the Hyperion House. We'll have a shakeout run on Saturday morning at 8 a.m., a live chat with Jess McClain, and more.____________Host: Chris Chavez | @chris_j_chavezGuest: Turner Wiley | @turner_wiley93Produced by: Jasmine Fehr | @jasminefehr____________SUPPORT OUR SPONSORSWAHOO: With the Wahoo KICKR RUN, you can simulate the exact Boston or London Marathon course right in your own home. Do you keep telling yourself you don't have time to start? Maybe you are working full-time and believe that building a business or starting a podcast will have to wait. It is easy to assume podcasting works for other people who have more freedom, more time, or more resources. In this episode, you will hear from my former student Heather, who started her podcast from scratch while working full-time. She began slowly and built step by step. Over time, her show grew to over 4,000 downloads, ranked in the top 5 percent globally, and helped her sign clients and build a coaching program. Her story proves that building a business does not require an all-or-nothing approach. This conversation will show you the real power of podcasting and evergreen content. When you start sooner, you begin laying the foundation for trust that leads to clients and opportunities. Heather's journey is a reminder that going slower can actually build stronger foundations and lasting growth. I pray this blesses you! Ready to Make Consistent Income From a Podcast? What does it actually look like to buy a business with zero margin for error? No safety net. No backup plan. A full-time military career, seven kids at home, and a lender who pulled out mid-deal. That's exactly where Michael Simpson found himself. In this episode, Jaryd Krause sits down with Michael Simpson - a National Guard serviceman who bought an 18-year-old e-commerce business using SBA financing, survived a near-collapse due diligence process, and came out the other side with a real, running business. But he's not here to tell you it was amazing. He's here to tell you the truth. Here's what's covered:
There's a big misconception in real estate that you need to quit your job, go all in, and take massive risks to build real wealth. This episode proves the opposite. We sit down with Tommy Stelzer, a member of our community who had been following us for a while before finally deciding to invest in himself and join the Wealth Juice Inner Circle. This decision ultimately springboarded his journey to not only growing his real estate portfolio, but started a podcast as well. Originally from Pennsylvania and now based in Orlando, he carved out a niche in student rentals in a small college town and has since grown his portfolio to 10+ units, all while still working full-time. In this conversation, we break down what actually changed once he stopped trying to figure it out alone. Instead of bouncing between strategies, he focused on one niche, built relationships with people ahead of him, and followed a clear roadmap inside the room. The accountability, collaboration, and access to people doing deals at a higher level gave him clarity and momentum. Starting small built confidence. Choosing a lane created traction. Getting in the right environment accelerated everything. If you're someone who's been listening, learning, and waiting for the “right time” to make your move, this episode is for you. You don't need to quit your job. You don't need to have it all figured out. But you do need a plan, and the right people around you. This is what it looks like when you invest in yourself, commit to a path, and start building real momentum toward financial freedom without blowing up your stability. Stephanie Smith spent a year trying to make her health coaching business work. She had clients here and there, tried different offers, and tested different messaging. But the income never matched the effort. So she went back to her job as a pharmacist. And somehow, that was the turning point. Without the financial pressure on her business, she got laser-focused. She stopped spending weeks on Instagram reels and online courses. She started doing the things that actually moved the needle: narrowing her niche, refining her offer, getting on the phone with people who needed her. By January of this year, she earned in one month what she had made in health coaching for the entire previous year. We talk about: The counterintuitive reason her full-time job helped her coaching business grow How she found her niche inside a very specific professional community The direct outreach strategy that has never once gotten a no Why she stopped offering group programs and went all-in on high-ticket 1:1 The mindset shift that changed how she shows up every single day If your health coaching business feels like it's going nowhere, this one is for you. Because Stephanie isn't some overnight success story. She's someone who kept showing up, stayed willing to start over, and finally found what works.

In this episode of The Retreat Leaders Podcast, Shannon sits down with Amy Jaggers, a coach and retreat leader who is building a soul-led retreat business while still working full-time. Amy shares how she helps professionals step off autopilot and reconnect with balance, clarity, and purpose through meditation, mindfulness practices, retreats, and wellbeing circles. She opens up about what it really looks like to grow a retreat business alongside a demanding career — including boundaries, time management, and integrating her "soul work" into her corporate role. Together, Shannon and Amy discuss long-term vision, retreat center dreams, the power of visualization, and why retreat leaders must invest in their own development before leading others. This episode is especially powerful for retreat leaders who are still in a full-time job but feel deeply called to build something meaningful and sustainable on the side. Key Takeaways You can build a retreat business while working full-time — with structure and boundaries. Integrating wellbeing and mindfulness into your day job can strengthen both worlds. Visual planning, time blocking, and templated systems are essential for sustainability. Soul-led work doesn't require quitting your job overnight — small, consistent steps matter. Investing in your own training and leadership development is non-negotiable as a retreat host. Long-term visions (like owning a retreat center) are built through patience and intention. Familiarity with your retreat location is a key marker of responsible leadership. About Amy Jaggers Amy Jaggers is a coach and facilitator who helps professionals turn awareness into meaningful action through coaching, meditation, retreats, and facilitated circles. Her work creates intentional space for individuals to pause, reconnect, and step off autopilot, supporting greater balance, clarity, and purpose. Amy's approach is grounded in building resilience and helping people live and lead with greater intention in both their personal and professional lives.
