Welcome, dear listeners, to the finale of Season 6. Our literary journey has taken us through the works of novelists and poets, exploring the depths of Literary Fiction. And for our closing episode, we have a special guest - Chuck Rosenthal, acclaimed author of Awake For Ever in a Sweet Unrest. As we delve into the premise of his latest book, we are transported into a world of love, longing, and artistic passion. Through this enthralling conversation with Chuck, we not only unravel the complexities of his main character Beatriz but also gain insight into the lives of 19th century romantic literary giants. Get ready for an educational and fascinating finale that will leave you yearning for more. Tune in to our upcoming season, where I will recite my poetry from all of my published works. Season 7 is aptly named "Inspire Me," promising to ignite the soul and capture the imagination. Each episode will be a journey through words, painting pictures of raw emotion and thought-provoking ideas. So, sit back, relax, and let yourself be inspired by the power of language and the artistry of poetry. Awake For Ever in a Sweet Unrest. Deep within the hidden library of Los Angeles' iconic poetry venue, Beyond Baroque, all modern electronics mysteriously fail. There, 19-year-old Beatriz encounters Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin Shelley, who promises a magical adventure back to 19th-century Europe. There, Beatriz meets literary legends John Keats, Percy Bysshe Shelley, Mary Shelley, and Lord Byron, experiencing the romantic landscapes and dangerous exploits of their world. As she navigates this liminal space, Beatriz discovers the power of poetry and art, and the courage to find her own identity. Rosenthal, an acclaimed author, brings historical figures to life, offering a deeply intimate tale of passion, creativity, and self-discovery. Awake For Ever in a Sweet Unrest is perfect for anyone who has ever lost themselves in the magic of a hidden library.   Chuck Rosenthal was born in Erie, Pennsylvania. In the latest episode of On the Brink with Andi Simon, we had the pleasure of speaking with Vicki Bradley, a seasoned leadership coach and the driving force behind many successful leaders, both women and men. Vicki's work is rooted in the understanding that leadership is not just about authority or strategy—it's about connecting with people on a deeper level through effective communication and emotional intelligence. In our conversation, Vicki shared profound insights into how these elements are not just complementary but essential to effective leadership. The Secret to Become the Leader You Want to Be One of the key takeaways from our discussion with Vicki was the critical role that communication plays in leadership. She emphasized that clear, authentic communication is the cornerstone of trust-building. When leaders communicate effectively, they are able to inspire, motivate, and engage their teams. This, in turn, fosters an environment where people feel valued, understood, and committed to the shared vision. The Heart of Leadership: Conversational and Emotional Intelligence But communication alone isn't enough. Vicki argues that to truly excel as a leader, one must couple communication skills with emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence, or EQ, is the ability to recognize, understand, and manage our own emotions, as well as the emotions of others. According to Vicki, leaders who possess high EQ are better equipped to handle the complexities of human behavior in the workplace. They are more empathetic, more adaptable, and better at conflict resolution—skills that are indispensable in today's dynamic business environments. Bridging the Gender Divide in Leadership During our conversation, Vicki also touched on the unique challenges and opportunities that arise when working with both women and men to enhance their leadership skills. She noted that while the fundamental principles of good leadership—like communication and EQ—apply to everyone, the ways in which these skills are developed and expressed can differ between genders. For women, Vicki observed that societal expectations often influence how they communicate and assert themselves in the workplace. Many women are taught to be nurturing and cooperative, which can sometimes be at odds with traditional notions of leadership. Vicki's coaching helps women to leverage these qualities while also encouraging them to find their voice, assert their ideas confidently, and navigate the complexities of leadership without compromising their authenticity. On the other hand, men might face different challenges. Vicki explained that some men are conditioned to suppress emotions or view emotional intelligence as a "soft" skill that doesn't align with leadership. However, she emphasizes that when men embrace EQ, they often find that it enhances their leadership capabilities, particularly in building trust and fostering team cohesion. By helping men understand the value of EQ, Vicki guides them toward a more balanced and effective leadership style. The scammer demands money, typically in the form of gift cards, to resolve fictitious warrants or legal issues. The police emphasize that they never solicit payments over the phone for warrants, citations, or any violations. They also caution residents about spoofing, where scammers manipulate caller ID to appear as if calling from the Lawrenceville Police Department. Residents are urged to verify suspicious calls by contacting the police directly at 770-962-4173 and to inform friends and family, especially the elderly, about this scam. STORY 2:  Four Lake Lanier Boaters Hospitalized After Fourth of July Incidents On July Fourth, Lake Lanier saw two boating incidents, the only ones reported statewide in Georgia. The first occurred at Buford Dam Park when two rented personal watercraft collided, resulting in injuries to three individuals who were hospitalized with lacerations, abrasions, and fractures. The operator deemed at fault fled the scene and remains at large. The second incident occurred at Burton Mill Park, involving a person jumping into shallow water from a vessel, resulting in a fractured rib and hospitalization. Additionally, DNR's Law Enforcement Division issued three boating under the influence citations in the Gainesville region, which covers Lakes Lanier and Hartwell. (FOR THE 1st three people) This episode is a replay of Week 51 from 2023, What I BelieveAround this time I start to review my year and check in with what is important to me. I'm thinking about how I have been spending my time and how I want to spend my time in the future. Asking questions helps me stay focused. Am I sharing my T.A.G.S. - Talents, Abilities, Gifts, Skills, to the best of my abilities? An important question is - have my beliefs and philosophies changed? The excerpt that I'm sharing this week from my book/ebook/audiobook, Why Struggle? Life is too short to wear tight shoes, is part of the about this book section. In this part of the book I share my life philosophies. I hope you enjoy it! About this Book It's been about 23 years since Why Struggle? The book was published. The initial book was a very important part of my personal and spiritual growth, just as this new endeavor for the e-book and audio book continues to allow me to Learn, Evolve, and Grow (LEG). My personal beliefs and life philosophies are the same, and I've added a few more since I've lived a lot more life. My beliefs and life philosophies are: • Be Loving. Love is the most powerful, healing, transformative power.  Being loving is the answer to most situations. • Be Truthful. I must find my personal truth and what brings me joyand peace. • Move forward. Everything happens for a reason. Many times I willnever know why specific things happen, I must move forwardanyway. • Be Forgiving. Learn to forgive myself and others, quickly. There areno mistakes – only learning experiences. • Be Open. I am a student and teacher in the school of life. Teachersare everywhere, and I must be an open and willing student at alltimes. Usually, when I am the “teacher” I learn way more than Icould ever teach. • Order is a natural law. Everything happens in divine order. • Be Calm. Calm and chaos are both mental choices, I can choose  differently at any time. • Be Easy. Life is about timing and FLOW  (Feeling Loving Open Willing). I am learning to get out of the way    more. • Be One. We are all interconnected because we are one. • LEG. My main purpose is to Learn, Evolve, and Grow (LEG) as much  as I can. Everything else will fall into place. • Be Still. Time in silence and having spiritual practices such as  meditation, radical forgiveness, journaling and tapping (Emotional  Freedom Technique) are essential for my overall well-being. • Trust my PGS. My Personal Guidance System (PGS) will lead, guide   and direct me when I relax and get still enough to hear its   directions. Who knew in 1999 I would be teaching meditation classes and be that lady that might say to you...“I have a message for you.” There is no way on earth I would have had that insight back then. It all started with questions and wanting answers. It all started with wanting to live a better life. It all started with simply not wanting to struggle. Struggling is a choice. Life is what you decide it will be regardless of the emotions you experience. I have learned that taking time to be still helps me get clear and make better choices. I've learned to ask important questions to help me continue to move forward in life. How do I feel right now? Am I struggling right now, if so why? If I am struggling, I remember that struggling is a choice and I ask myself if I really want to take that emotional rollercoaster ride that might be the next step. I've learned to BREATHE deeply and often in order to come back to right now. What can I do right now to feel better? Breathe. Maybe listening to a song or playlist or taking a walk can help me have a different feeling. Do I really need to call someone or can I figure things out myself? --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/barbara-faison/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/barbara-faison/support

Tonite June 11 begins the Feast of Shavuot through June 13. This is the 6th of Sivan on the Hebrew calender -a time where God calls the Jewish people to covenant relationship with Him through the Torah in Exodus 19 and 20. It is also a time where He calls Messianic Believers and Gentile Christians to receive power from the Holy Spirit through baptism by fire in Acts 2. When God calls His people to Mt Sinai , He is saying you will be “My People” and they agree to hear and follow the Holy Ten Commandments. Exodus 20:22-23 reads, “And the LORD said unto Moses, “Thus thou shalt say unto the children of Israel, Ye have seen that I have talked with you from heaven. Ye shall not make with me gods of silver, neither shall ye make unto you gods of gold.”A covenant begins which means a type of marriage or union occurs between God and the Israelites- they become one and now the Israelites have a relationship with one who covers them in His mantle ! This same thing happens in the New Testament when Jesus tells His disciples to go to Upper room and wait for the Holy Spirit to come and fire comes forth that they receive His Holy Spirit as a seal of redemption and Yeshua becomes one with the people and again they are mantled by God in His covering! This week He is calling us to come and Be One with Him and receive our identity as His people wearing His splendor and majesty! We are called to consecrate ourselves before receiving such a blessing that will empower us to go forth and carry His word and Spirit in the earth! It is time for a fresh fire touch and a renewed commitment to Be One With Him as He Mantles Us in His covenant glory ! This is a heavy mantle as it means we must leave behind the world and its idols and vow not to have other gods before Him!Assess yourself today and let these false attachments go and receive a new identity in Him as you move forward in the Kingdom of God in the earth. Repent today and ask His forgiveness and receive a fresh touch for a new start as His Holy Son or Daughter Mantled in His glory - carrying His blessing in the earth!Feast of Shavuot or Pentecost is HERE and it's time for your Pentecost offering in accordance with Deuteronomy 16:16-18. It might have to do with the fact that it's Sarah Sundin or even WWII.  Maybe it's because we're dealing with the Blitz and yet not just England's resilience in the wake of its destruction. But I suspect I'm going to love this book because Sarah Sundin took a heartbreaking fact of WWII history that many of us don't know about and put it on the page in a different setting to showcase it. Listen in to see how and why that happens in Embers in the London Sky.   Note: links may be affiliate links that provide me with a small commission at no extra expense to you. Why This Book Promises to Be One of My 2024 Favorites! When Sarah Sundin writes WWII fiction people take up and notice. Why? Because she's been doing it longer than most. Because of her thorough research. And perhaps especially because of her attention to detail. When you pick up one of her novels, you know you're going to feel as if you're there. I won't pretend I'm glad I didn't have to live through The Blitz and that my only real experience with it will be when I read this book.  I also forgot to ask about research materials. I'm gonna need those.  Hmmm... Oh, Sarah! But Embers in the London Sky blends the heartbreak of loss of home and family with the focused destruction and attempted demoralization of England. If that's not hard enough, Sarah throws in a few murders to keep things interesting. Or something. EEEP! If that isn't a recipe for excellent fiction, I don't know what is! Embers in the London Sky by Sarah Sundin As the German army invades the Netherlands in 1940, Aleida van der Zee Martens escapes to London to wait out the Occupation. Separated from her three-year-old son, Theo, in the process, the young widow desperately searches for her little boy even as she works for an agency responsible for evacuating children to the countryside. When German bombs set London ablaze, BBC radio correspondent Hugh Collingwood reports on the Blitz, eager to boost morale while walking the fine line between truth and censorship. But the Germans are not the only ones Londoners have to fear as a series of murders flame up amid the ashes. The deaths hit close to home for Hugh, and Aleida needs his help to locate her missing son. As they work together, they grow closer and closer, both to each other and the answers they seek. But with bombs falling and continued killings, they may be running out of time. Get Embers in the London Sky at 40% off and with free shipping from BakerBookHouse.com. All the links: LINKTR.EE/Barbarafaison Week 51 - What I BelieveAround this time I start to review my year and check in with what is important to me. Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #552 is an hour of improvised visionary acoustic music recorded live every Monday at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts and features The Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, Native flute, acoustic guitar, mandolin, ukulele and harmonica, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on Native drum and congas.  Today's show, recorded in mid-November of 2023, begins with the upbeat folk workout “In The Dark Of The Night” featuring a fine, narrative vocal from Mariam and “You Are At Peace” is a gorgeous, stately, gospel-tinged song with a fine vocal and sensitive, filigreed piano work.  “Let's Be One” is a gorgeous, shaded piece, spacious and evocative, driven by Mariam's tight ukulele work against Craig's fundamental congas and braided through with sophisticated chord journeys from the piano.  Following various movements, “Let's Be One” settles into a powerful, hypnotic drone as a feature for Mariam's outstanding voice and flute conversations.  Today's blues “Every Day Count Your Blessings” carries a Ray Charles influence in rhythm and structure and showcases rocking, astringent blues harp and vocals from Mariam.  “Step On The Button To Change The World” comes in hushed and sweet with Craig's earth groove a perfect support for Mariam's chiming mandolin and Bob's rich, active piano.  “Thistle In The Wind” comes from Mariam's children's album and is a charming, naïve folk blues adorned with Mariam's gorgeous vocal above a soundstage of churning congas, airtight ukulele and spidery Delta blues piano.  “Flowers Of Delight” is a psychedelic, heavy-with-summer devotional song from Mariam's “Release” album, an intoxicating cloud of August dusk and “Filling My Heart With Peace” closes today's show as a driving, Dionysian apex coda to the drifting “Flowers Of Delight”. How will it sound if the seed claims, "I am a tree!" The seed has to go under the soil, sprout and the seedling has to grow up. This is why spiritual practices are performed. When the seed becomes a tree we can chain an elephant to it; but if we don't protect it in the early stages, birds will peck it."-Amma"Think Of God As Your Environment.Be One with God and nothing can harm you."-Yogananda"Jesus does not call us to do what  He did, but to be as He was: permeated with love. Then, the doing of what He did and said becomes the natural expression of who we are in God."-Dallas Willard"When the world pushes you to your knees, you're in the perfect position to pray."-Rumi"The Beloved: My son, I am the Lord; no strength like His in the hour of distress.? When things are not going well with you, come to Me. The chief hindrance to your receiving heavenly comfort is your slowness in turning to prayer; you do not come to me straightway and pray to me earnestly, but first you go seeking other things to comfort you, trying to find diversion in created things. All these things, as it happens, do little to help you; it is then that you remember that I am the deliverer of all who put their hope in me; that apart from me there is no help that can do much, no counsel that can be taken with profit, no remedy whose effects can last. But now, when the storm is over and you can breathe freely again, recruit your strength in the light of My Mercies; for I am near, I the Lord, to restore all things not only to their former perfection but to pile them high and make them overflow with added graces."-Thomas Kepis, The Imitation of Christ "Lord, whatever it is I desire, may I desire you more. whatever it is I seek, may I seek you more. whatever it is I love, may I love you more. be more to me than anything else in this world."-@Proverbs31_ministries"Divine Mother, help me to consciously receive the omnipresence Light constantly passing through me."-Yogananda "You don't need whatever you are chasing in this world. You only need Jesus."- @LivingChristian"Abiding in The Word means dwelling constantly in the realization of your oneness with God-conscious-ness. This means that you not only stop taking thought for your life, but you also stop reacting to outer conditions. If you abide continually in the realization of oneness, then outer conditions will reflect that oneness.  To help you stay alert, constantly remind yourself, "Right now as I appear to be doing such and such, I am really divine Consciousness individualized, and right now I am knowing that I am divine Consciousness individualized."-Joel GoldsmithSupport the show

The surprising history of how kale became so popular so quickly back in 2014, and how both Pizza Hut and Chick-fil-A were partially responsible––but not because they actually included kale on their menus. It's a tale of lawsuits, publicity campaigns, bloated markets, and one very big kalespiracy.Sponsors:BetterHelp, Get 10% off your first month at betterhelp.com/COOLSTUFFKolide, Got Slack? Got Macs? Have you ever wished for a fairy godmother? Someone to wave a wand and make your troubles disappear? The next best thing just might be a real godmother - a woman to see you in your distress and to offer help and encouragement. What's hard for you in this season of motherhood? Your reactions to your kids? Seeing how your kids react to one another? Maybe you need to break free from life centering around your kids.  In this mentoring episode we take a proverbial walk with author and speaker Lisa Bevere through anger, growth, idolatry, guilt and hope in the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives and sibling rivalry. Her most recent book, Godmothers: Why You Need One. How to Be One encourages women to live with and for one another and to ask for help from those who have gone before you - which she graciously does with us in this episode! Lisa and her husband John raised four boys and she has written numerous books on womanhood, identity, anger, and much more.  Connect with Lisa Bevere:  Website:  https://lisabevere.com/  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lisabevere.page  Instagram:  https://www.instagram.com/lisabevere/  Links Mentioned:    Godmothers: Why You Need One.
