As we work through the Book of Isaiah, we are increasingly seeing Christ's kingdom come into focus. Today, we look at Isaiah 7, we're going to study a spectacular prophecy that we usually talk about the miraculous birth of Jesus and how we know that, indeed, Jesus is the long-awaited King of the Jews.  DISCUSSION AND STUDY QUESTIONS: 1.    Verse 1 mentions King Ahaz? What was he and what kind of king was he? 2.    In verses 1 & 2, what was the setting that was troubling Ahaz? What was Ahaz's response in verse 2?  3.    What was the gist of the Lord's words for Ahaz in verse 4-9? Why do you think the Lord would have this message for Ahaz?  4.    If the Lord were to give such a practical promise to you, what would be your response? From your study of the next few verses, what was Ahaz's response (specifically verse 12)? This seems like it might be a righteous response, why wasn't it? What in his character produced this kind of response?  5.    What reply does the Lord give to Ahaz in verses 13 to 16? What was the gist of this prophecy? Who was the near fulfillment of this promise? Who is the ultimate fulfilment? How was He a fulfillment of these prophecies? 6.    Read over the rest of this passage, what kinds of things does the Lord promise to Ahaz? Would these be fulfilled in Ahaz's days? According to the podcast, when would they be fulfilled?  7.    The podcast mentions that Isaiah's son Shear-jashub means “the remnant shall return”. What might be the significance of Isaiah bringing Shear-jashub to this meeting with Ahaz and then giving these prophecies?  8.    When you think of the desolation that Judah was going to experience, what kind of hope would these promises give to those people in the exile? Why Easter Matters   1. Humanity's Condition: -All people are sinful (Romans 3:23) and separated from a holy God. -God's justice requires a penalty for sin—spiritual and physical death (Romans 6:23). -Without a solution, humanity is destined for judgment and hell.   2. Jesus' Mission and Sacrifice: -Jesus, though sinless, became sin for us (2 Corinthians 5:21). -His death was not just physical; it involved deep spiritual suffering and separation from God (Mark 15:34). - He bore the full penalty of sin so we wouldn't have to. -He went to hell on our behalf, satisfying God's justice (Matthew 12:40; Acts 2:27).   3. God's Plan of Redemption: -Jesus' death was part of God's foreknown plan (Acts 2:23). -Prophesied in Isaiah 53 and fulfilled in the Gospels. -His spiritual resurrection (rebirth) in hell and physical resurrection confirmed victory over sin and death.   4. The Result for Us: -Jesus' resurrection guarantees our new, glorified bodies (1 Corinthians 15). -Through faith in Him, we receive forgiveness, reconciliation, and eternal life (John 3:16, Romans 10:9-10).   Seven Spiritual Truths About Jesus' Sacrifice 1. Spiritual suffering is greater than Physical suffering – He faced abandonment by God for our sins. 2. His death was God's will – Planned for our salvation, predicted by Jesus Himself. 3. He became our sin – Though pure, He stood in for all humanity's guilt. 4. He died spiritually – Experienced complete separation from God. 5. He went to hell for us – Fully bore the consequence of sin. 6. Raised from spiritual death – Became the first spiritually reborn person. 7. Given a glorified body – Paved the way for our own eternal resurrection.   Action Steps: Do you believe Jesus took your place? Have you accepted His sacrifice personally? Are you born again and living in the light of His resurrection?

THERE IS PROPHECY in Isaiah 14, the chapter with the famous verse, “How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning.”While most read it as either a condemnation of the king of Babylon or “Lucifer,” it is also a prophecy of the future destruction of the rebellious “sons of God” from Genesis 6:1–4. The entity called “Lucifer,” Enlil (AKA El, Molech, Dagon, Assur, Kronos, Saturn, Shemihazah, and many other names) and the “slaughter [of] his sons” (Isa. 14:21) is linked to Isaiah 26:13–14, which declares that in the Resurrection, “they are [Rephaim], they will not arise,” and the prophesied destruction of the Watchers—not “cities”—in Isaiah 14:21 and Numbers 24:19.We also find a fascinating difference between our English Bibles and the Septuagint translation of Isaiah 14:20, where this entity is told, “You will certainly not remain into eternity, evil seed!”
