In Liverpool in 1889, Constance Sullivan stands accused of poisoning her husband, but William was no innocent victim and a web of deception envelopes their home and the people closest to them. Sometimes, Christians fall into the trap of self-centeredness. We make life, the church, and even the Gospel all about us. But this thinking is dangerous and contrary to Scripture. In 1 Corinthians 1:26-31, Paul attacks this sinful behavior.
Culture continually rejects Christianity and the gospel for the same reason that the church and the gospel are not about us. The gospel is all about the cross! So let us glory in and rejoice in who God is and the cross of Christ.

Does Christ have your heart? I'm asking a deeper question than simply what do you believe. I've talked to thousands of people who believe correct doctrine, but Jesus doesn't have their heart. Paul Had A gloriously gut-wrenching craving for Christ; a Christ-craving. He couldn't get away from it. Jesus dominated his thoughts, filled his heart and motivated his actions. He wanted to know Christ, gain Christ, be found in Christ and treasure Christ.Christ was his one-thing, everything else was worth-less. Can we say the same thing? More than just words, what does our life communicate? Where does Christ rank in my heart?

QUOTES FOR REFLECTION“Better to have a small role in God's story than to cast yourself as the lead in your own fiction.”~Lecrae, singer, songwriter, and producer “[T]he moment you begin to have faith, you learn that all things in you are altogether blameworthy, sinful and damnable. When you have learned this, you will know that you need Christ, who suffered and rose again for you, so that if you believe in him, you may, through faith become a new man, in so far as your sins are forgiven, and you are justified by the merits of another, namely of Christ alone.”~Martin Luther (1483-1546) in The Freedom of a Christian “…to fulfill the law means to do its work eagerly, lovingly and freely, without the constraint of the law; it means to live well and in a manner pleasing to God, as though there were no law or punishment. It is the Holy Spirit, however, who puts such eagerness of unconstrained love into the heart…. That is why faith alone makes someone just and fulfills the law; faith it is that brings the Holy Spirit through the merits of Christ. The Spirit, in turn, renders the heart glad and free, as the law demands. Then good works proceed from faith itself.” “Lord Jesus, You are my righteousness; I am Your sin. You took on You what was mine, yet set on me what was Yours. You became what You were not, that I might become what I was not.”~Martin Luther (1483-1546) from various writingsNothing either great or small—Nothing, sinner, no;Jesus did it, did it all,Long, long ago. “It is finished!” yes, indeed,Finished every jot:Sinner, this is all you need—Tell me, is it not?Till to Jesus' work you clingBy a simple faith,“Doing” is a deadly thing—“Doing” ends in death. Cast your deadly “doing” down—Down at Jesus' feet;Stand in Him, in Him alone,Gloriously complete. ~James ProctorSERMON PASSAGEGalatians 3:1-14 (ESV)Galatians 3 (ESV) 1 O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? It was before your eyes that Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified. 2 Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith? 3 Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh? 4 Did you suffer so many things in vain—if indeed it was in vain? 5 Does he who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law, or by hearing with faith— 6 just as Abraham “believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”? 7 Know then that it is those of faith who are the sons of Abraham. 8 And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “In you shall all the nations be blessed.” 9 So then, those who are of faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith. 10 For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.” 11 Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for “The righteous shall live by faith.” 12 But the law is not of faith, rather “The one who does them shall live by them.” 13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”— 14 so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith. Numbers 6 (ESV)22 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 23 “Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, Thus you shall bless the people of Israel: you shall say to them,24 The Lord bless you and keep you;25 the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;26 the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.27 “So shall they put my name upon the people of Israel, and I will bless them.” Romans 8 (NASB95) 1 Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. 3 For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
Unlike His creation even with its own impressive ancient character, God's existence is eternal-He has no beginning -and thus no end-. God is Gloriously Eternal.
God's gifts are all perfect because they are from our constantly reliable Heavenly Father. God is Gloriously Unchangeable.

Today we cover Galatians 3:10-14 and continue our series through the letter of Galatians. Notes//Quotes: Galatians 3:10-14 “If we allow the Bible to become fragmented, it is in danger of being absorbed into whatever other story is shaping our culture, and it will thus cease to shape our lives as it should. Idolatry has twisted the dominant cultural story of the secular Western world. If as believers we allow this story (rather than the Bible) to become the foundation of our thought and action, then our lives will manifest not the truths of Scripture, but the lies of an idolatrous culture. Hence, the unity of Scripture is no minor matter: a fragmented Bible may actually produce theologically orthodox, morally upright, warmly pious idol worshippers! - Mike Goheen “These few verses offer a theological blueprint for the redemptive history of the world.” - William Dumbrell Heb 11:8-16 The shocking fact of a crucified Messiah stands out. God's purpose was fulfilled, not in a smooth line moving inch by inch forward from Abraham, through multiple developments, into covenant renewal and gentile inclusion, but in the previously unthinkable curse-bearing death of the Lord's Anointed. Galatians 3:13 joins up with Paul's other statements about Jesus's death, in this letter and elsewhere, to form an overall picture in which the powerful divine love goes to the darkest possible depths to enable the rescue operation to take place. NT Wright Exodus “Graphic and unmistakable experience of redemption from an alien power…it involves not only the release from slavery but also the shedding of blood as a means of escape from judgement” Graham Goldsworthy In the Cross is salvation; in the Cross is life; in the Cross is protection against our enemies; in the Cross is infusion of heavenly sweetness; in the Cross is strength of mind; in the Cross is joy of spirit; in the Cross is excellence of virtue; in the Cross is perfection of holiness. There is no salvation of soul, nor hope of eternal life, save in the Cross. - Thomas A Kempis Thomas A. Kempis Picture (attached in files) When I base my Christian life on my Christian experience, I become locked in the labyrinth of my own performance. I am only as sure of God as my current emotions and obedience allow. My eyes are fixed on myself. The gospel, the good news, is the way the Holy Spirit turns our eyes away from ourselves and onto Christ. The gospel brings you into union with Christ. Christ enters your heart and gives you faith. By that faith, you receive Christ and all his fullness. Faith fixes your eyes on Christ and rests in him. - Rankin Wilbourne, Union With Christ Final screen(s) - A hymn - As many lines as can fit for a screen or two: Nothing, either great or small— Nothing, sinner, no; Jesus died and paid it all, Long, long ago. “It is finished!” yes, indeed, Finished, ev'ry jot; Sinner, this is all you need, Tell me, is it not? When He, from His lofty throne, Stooped to do and die, Ev'rything was fully done; Hearken to His cry! Weary, working, burdened one, Wherefore toil you so? Cease your doing; all was done, Long, long ago. Till to Jesus' work you cling, By a simple faith, “Doing” is a deadly thing— “Doing” ends in death. Cast your deadly “doing” down— Down at Jesus' feet; Stand in Him, in Him alone, Gloriously complete. “It is finished!” yes, indeed, Finished, ev'ry jot; Sinner, this is all you need, Tell me, is it not?
Y'all, Tyler is truly the great friend that none of us deserve! In this episode of drinks on dusty, we bring on one of the best friends anyone could ever ask for, In Tyler. We grab some Coney Island pilsners and toast to daring to fail gloriously!Tyler is an actor, director, artistic director of "Company of Fools" theatre company and much more. We met doing a Shakespeare show called "Much Ado About Nothing" and from then on its been an honor to have as great a friend as he is in my life. He is a loyal, giving, and passionate person that shows up for the people in his life, and anyone that has his friendship is lucky to have it.In this episode we talk about being afraid to fail and overcoming that fear. It's a tricky emotion to navigate and Tyler gives an insight on how he works through that fear. We also touch on his and I's love for professional wrestling, that we grew up on from when we were kids. Also, did you know that it is ILLEGAL to pump your own gas in New Jersey......ya, I found that out on this episode as well. I've been slumming it, pumping my own gas for years, while Tyler just sits in his cozy car and roles his window down a smidge lol. We talk about our connection, how we met, disagree over Wendy's , and laugh over a story on how Tyler did most of leg work and I got all the credit for it :). So grab your favorite drinks and listen to a couple of good friends toast while we let the drinks flow and the conversations grow! Cheers Y'all!
