Daily Anglican Prayer - Tuesday Morning – 19th May 2026 Readings NRSVUE: Psalm 45; Numbers 23 13-30; 1 Corinthians 12.1-13. Led by Felicity Scott, an Anglican prayer minister in Queensland, Australia. The full prayer transcript is available by going to this episode on the Podcast website. https://dailyprayeranglicanprayerbookforaustralia.podbean.com Welcome to Tuesday morning prayer. We proclaim the Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ: GOD in his infinite mercy, forgives all sins, and through our baptism in the name of our Saviour, Jesus Christ, we are given a rebirth into new life, free from the burden of all sin. ALLELUIA With faithfulness we respond to the good news: We acknowledge Christ our Saviour and accept with gratitude, that we are forgiven for all wrong doings, past and present. To honour the gift of forgiveness, we release our burden of guilt and rise up to live in the glory of God forever more. Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Blessed be God forever. Let us Pray. 1c We will proclaim the name of the Lord Ascribe greatness to our God Glory to God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit: as in the beginning, so now, and for ever. Amen. 2 The Opening Canticle, God who is rich in mercy out of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead through our trespasses. made us alive together with Christ, and raised us up with him: and made us sit with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus that he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace: in kindness towards us in Christ Jesus. Ephesians 2.4-7 3 The Opening Prayer The night has passed and the day lies open before us; let us pray with one heart and mind. Silence may be kept. As we rejoice in the gift of this new day, so may the light of your presence, O God, set our hearts on fire with love for you; now and for ever. Amen. 4 The Psalms as appointed. A pause is observed after each. Psalm 45 5 At the end of the (last) pause there may follow Lord, our God, our Creator, Redeemer, and Sanctifier: we ask you to cleanse us from all hypocrisy, to unite us to our fellow men and women, by the bonds of peace and love, and to confirm us in holiness; now and for ever. Amen. 6 One or two Readings from the Bible as appointed. 1st Reading Numbers 23.13-30 13So Balak said to him, “Come with me to another place from which you may see them; you shall see only part of them and shall not see them all; then curse them for me from there.” 14So he took him to the field of Zophim, to the top of Pisgah. He built seven altars and offered a bull and a ram on each altar. 15Balaamsaid to Balak, “Stand here beside your burnt offerings, while I meet the LORD over there.” 16The LORD met Balaam, put a word into his mouth, and said, “Return to Balak, and this is what you shall say.” 17When he came to him, he was standing beside his burnt offerings with the officials of Moab. Balak said to him, “What has the LORD said?” 18Then Balaam uttered his oracle, saying, “Rise, Balak, and hear; listen to me, O son of Zippor: 19 God is not a human being, that he should lie, or a mortal, that he should change his mind. Has he promised, and will he not do it? Has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it? 20 See, I received a command to bless; he has blessed, and I cannot revoke it. 21 He has not beheld misfortune in Jacob, nor has he seen trouble in Israel. The LORD their God is with them, acclaimed as a king among them. 22 God, who brings them out of Egypt, is like the horns of a wild ox for them. 23Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, no divination against Israel; now it shall be said of Jacob and Israel, ‘See what God has done!' 24 Look, a people rising up like a lioness and rousing itself like a lion! It does not lie down until it has eaten the prey and drunk the blood of the slain.” 25Then Balak said to Balaam, “Do not curse them at all, and do not bless them at all.” 26But Balaam answered Balak, “Did I not speak to you, saying, ‘Whatever the LORD says, that is what I must do'?” 27 So Balak said to Balaam, “Come now, I will take you to another place; perhaps it will please God that you may curse them for me from there.” 28So Balak took Balaam to the top of Peor, which overlooks the wasteland. 29Balaam said to Balak, “Build me seven altars here, and prepare seven bulls and seven rams for me.” 30So Balak did as Balaam had said and offered a bull and a ram on each altar. Hear the word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. 2nd Reading 1 Corinthians 12.1-13. 1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be ignorant. 2You know that when you were gentiles you were enticed and led astray to idols that could not speak. 3Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking by the Spirit of God ever says “Let Jesus be cursed!” and no one can say “Jesus is Lord” except by the Holy Spirit. 4 Now there are varieties of gifts but the same Spirit, 5and there are varieties of services but the same Lord, 6and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone. 7To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 8To one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, 9to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10to another the working of powerful deeds, to another prophecy, to another the discernment of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11All these are activated by one and the same Spirit, who allots to each one individually just as the Spirit chooses. One Body with Many Members 12 For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. 13For in the one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and we were all made to drink of one Spirit. Hear the message of Christ. Thanks be to God. 7 The Canticle, A Song of the Blessed Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn: for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for what is right: for they shall be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful: for mercy shall be shown to them. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5.3–10 8 The belief and principle is said I believe in God, creator of heaven and earth, whose love and merciful forgiveness endures everlasting. I believe in Christ the saviour, whose example of love and compassion, taught us a restored way to live, in collaborative unity with all people. I believe in the Holy Spirit, whose divine guidance brings us together to be one with the Holy Trinity. 9 The Prayers Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy. God have mercy. 10 The Lord's Prayer Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen. Prayer of the Week following the Seventh Sunday of EASTER O God, the king of glory, You have exalted your only Son Jesus Christ, with great triumph to your kingdom in heaven: We pray you, leave us not comfortless, but send your Holy Spirit to strengthen us, and exalt us to the same place, where our Saviour Christ, has gone before. Who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one god forever and ever. Amen 11 Intercessions and Thanksgivings may be made according to local custom and need. Let us pray LORD GOD, how great your healing peace that reaches out to those in need, how great your love for all your people. What are the true marks of a Christian? In Philippians 3:3, the Apostle Paul gives three defining evidences of a life transformed by grace:• Worship by the Spirit of God• Glory in Christ Jesus• Put no confidence in the flesh Christianity is not about what you add to Christ. It is about what God has done to you. Like a surgeon who cuts in order to heal, God performs sovereign surgery on the human heart—removing what is dead and diseased and leaving behind unmistakable “scars of grace.” Has God cut to your heart?Has He removed your confidence in yourself?Has He left the marks of true conversion on your life? This sermon explores the biblical meaning of “we are the circumcision,” tracing the promise of heart transformation from Deuteronomy 30:6 and Romans 2:28–29 to its fulfillment in Christ. We'll see how true worship (John 4:23–24), spiritual discernment (1 Corinthians 2:12–14), and boasting in Christ alone define the people of God. Three marks. One Savior. No confidence in the flesh.
Luke 2:8-14Living BibleThat night some shepherds were in the fields outside the village, guarding their flocks of sheep. Suddenly an angel appeared among them, and the landscape shone bright with the glory of the Lord. They were badly frightened, but the angel reassured them.“Don't be afraid!” he said. “I bring you the most joyful news ever announced, and it is for everyone! The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born tonight in Bethlehem! How will you recognize him? You will find a baby wrapped in a blanket,[b] lying in a manger!”Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others-the armies of heaven—praising God:“Glory to God in the highest heaven,” they sang,[c] “and peace on earth for all those pleasing him.”Imagine for a moment that you're a shepherd back in the B.C. days. It's just another cold, lonely, pitch-dark night, sitting by the fire, watching the sheep. Then, suddenly, a blinding light pierces through the blackness, and you're face to face with an angel. He sees the terror in your eyes, knows you think that he has come to kill you because of your sin and low position, so then he declares, “Don't be scared. I have good news of great joy for all people.” Disbelief overwhelms reality as you think, “Why me? And why here? … Aren't there some important people somewhere to do this? After all, we're just shepherds.”Shepherds, as a stereotype, had a reputation for being low-lives, men of bad reputation. They didn't observe the ceremonial law and were not religious men. They were so known for stealing and dishonesty that their testimony would not be considered reliable enough to testify in court. Think about that… God chose first to announce He was here to these men of bad reputation. He made His birth announcement to the least of these, setting a pattern for His Son's ministry. On that night, that holy night, everything changed and the broken, rejected, lowest of society were the ones that God chose to tell first. The words of the beautiful song, Oh Holy Night, capture the essence of that encounter. As we finish our time together - let me read you the words for this beautiful song. O holy night, the stars are brightly shining, It is the night of the dear Saviour's birth; Long lay the world in sin and error pining, 'Till he appeared and the soul felt its worth. A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices, For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn; Fall on your knees, Oh hear the angel voices! O night divine! O night when Christ was born.Father, we thank you for this time of joyful waiting. May the hope and joy of this season fill our hearts and make us living signs of your love for a world that hungers for your peace. Immanuel, God with us. Amen

What is the driving force that guides what we do? Our chief end must be to do all to the glory of God. If we fail to give God His rightly deserved glory, we will fail to do the will of God.
Today Frank explains what Paul meant in his letter to the Corinthians concerning the equality in the relationship of men and woman with God and how the world and other believers hearing the Gospel might judge us. Frank Spalding and the preaching team at Lincoln Hills Christian Church welcomes all those seeking to know more about the Real Jesus and how to be an active disciple.

SERIES: Epiphany MomentsWhere in the world does one find lasting glory? Conquering nations? Championships? Awards? Any glory one finds in these is fleeting and misleading. Such achievements fade and are forgotten, only to be replaced by the next conqueror, champion, or award winner. But there is a glory that endures. And, while it isn't in you, you will find that it is for you, if you know where to look.

SummaryIn this conversation, Danielle Strickland and James explore the themes of the Gospels, particularly focusing on the book of John. They discuss the unique characteristics of each Gospel, the concept of the Cosmic Christ, and the radical identification of Christ with human suffering. The dialogue delves into the significance of creation, the essence of God as love, and the importance of seeing Jesus as the ultimate revelation of God. They emphasize the need to rediscover Jesus beyond traditional interpretations and to understand the profound implications of His incarnation.Takeaways* Each Gospel has its unique style and message.* John's introduction is a poetic reflection on creation.* The concept of the Cosmic Christ connects all matter to Jesus.* Christ's incarnation signifies God's solidarity with the oppressed.* The light of Christ brings order to chaos and new beginnings.* All people are created in the image of God, challenging hierarchical views.* God's essence is love, as revealed through Jesus.* Understanding Jesus is key to understanding God.* The Bible points to Jesus as the Word of God.* Rediscovering Jesus can transform our understanding of scripture.Titles* The Gospels Unveiled: A Journey Through John* The Cosmic Christ: Light in DarknessSound Bites* "John's like an art film."* "The word became flesh."* "God is love."Chapters00:00Exploring the Gospels: A Unique Perspective03:21The Cosmic Christ: Understanding John 106:21Radical Identification: Christ and Human Suffering09:15Creation and New Beginnings: The Light of Christ12:17The Essence of God: Glory and Revelation in Christ15:08The Nature of God: Love and the Incarnation18:03Rediscovering Jesus: The Word of God21:04The Power of Poetry: Advent Reflections32:00lifestyle-intro-low-long.wav Get full access to Right Side Up: Danielle Strickland at daniellestrickland.substack.com/subscribe

Transformative Truth: The God of all grace is worthy of all glory. THE SETTING (v. 4a) THE SALUTATION (vv. 4b-8) • Grace and peace from God • Glory and praise to God The Seven-Fold Description of Christ "the faithful witness" "the firstborn of the dead" "the ruler of the kings on earth" He "loves us" "And has freed us from our sins by his blood" "and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and our Father" "He is coming with the clouds" The God of all grace is worthy of all glory.
All of life is all for Jesus. This should be the focus of every moment of our lives. How would that change the way we exist? Would we be more joyful and at peace? Paul is trying to get us to reframe the way we live our lives.1 Cor 10:31 So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
Paul has been unfolding “the gospel of God” since the opening sentence of this magisterial book. At the heart of the gospel is God Himself. The saved are not the centrality of salvation, God is. Grace is not the ultimate good, glory is. The gospel is glorious primarily because it is the only means for sinners to enjoy the God who is central and supreme. This is seen clearest in the climax of Paul's unparalleled explanation. Chapters of gospel reasoning mount to fuel a white-hot eruption of praise to God. Here revealed is a compendium of the glory of God, and it is our highest delight!

How can unity bring God glory? We often believe we bring God glory by receiving what He's giving us, by what we do for Him, or in getting His life “correct.” But does this bring Him glory? God desires our relationship over transaction; presence over performance; community over correctness: because this glorifies Him.

Pastor Caleb J. Kinney Sunday Morning 1/7/24
Luke 2:8-14Living Bible That night some shepherds were in the fields outside the village, guarding their flocks of sheep. Suddenly an angel appeared among them, and the landscape shone bright with the glory of the Lord. They were badly frightened, but the angel reassured them. “Don't be afraid!” he said. “I bring you the most joyful news ever announced, and it is for everyone! The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born tonight in Bethlehem! How will you recognize him? You will find a baby wrapped in a blanket,[b] lying in a manger!” Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others-the armies of heaven—praising God: “Glory to God in the highest heaven,” they sang,[c] “and peace on earth for all those pleasing him.” Imagine for a moment that you're a shepherd back in the B.C. After all, we're just shepherds.” Shepherds, as a stereotype, had a reputation for being low-lives, men of bad reputation. O night when Christ was born. Father, we thank you for this time of joyful waiting. May the hope and joy of this season fill our hearts and make us living signs of your love for a world that hungers for your peace. Immanuel, God with us. Amen
Some circumstances just don't seem glorious. Our health is elusive, our work is mundane, and our suffering is relentless. Pastor Lutzer describes four ways God can be glorified in every circumstance of our lives. No matter what comes each day, we can wake up focused on our chief purpose in life: the glory of God.
We've all been there. You're on one path that you feel like you've been called to do and then as you're on that path, you feel led to go down a different path. And here's where the hard part comes. What do you do in that moment when you feel led to go a different direction? It's so easy to dismiss it and say it's a distraction from the original direction God was leading you down. It's also easy to start the whole mindset drama where you're asking “Is it really God or is it the enemy or is it just what I want to do?” All of these are valid questions and definitely things you should pray about in a situation like that. But I want to encourage you to also think about an alternative. What if this is exactly where God is leading you and He wants you to go on this journey because it'll ultimately lead to Him getting the glory in a way that you can't even imagine? Today on the podcast, you'll get encouragement for how to approach it when you feel like you're wanting to pivot (again) and you're not sure what to think about it. I hope you're encouraged by this episode and that you continue shifting your mindset toward Jesus so you can do all that He is calling you to do.
