Getting God’s word deep into our spirits allows us to remain planted when the storms of life come our way. It keeps us from being easily influenced by evil. We should be meditating on God’s word both day and night, so that we may draw closer to Him.

We begin this episode by looking outside of Psalms to the New Testament. Paul writes from prison in Colossians 3:16, encouraging new believers to grow in spiritual maturity and let the word of Christ dwell in them richly. It's in this plea, as well as multiple other passages across scripture, that we see a collective urgency to treasure the scriptures in our hearts. Studies show that Christians in North America have more access to the Bible than ever before and yet we know less about God's Word than we ever have. In this brief episode, we'll look at why it's so crucial to get God's Word into us. We'll also examine the science of our brains and offer practical steps forward. We hope you leave this episode both encouraged and challenged! Bible verses:-Deuteronomy 11:18-Psalm 119:11-Proverbs 3:1-Luke 6:45-Isaiah 26:3-Psalm 139:14

Sorry we're a week late in posting! But here's a reflection on various bible passages, exploring in particular the nature of prayer: is it getting God to do what we want? Is it beseeching a heavenly parent with a list of demands? And if not, what is it?
Getting God wrong can make a mess of things. The question we need to ask ourselves: do we have confidence in the Lord or do we want to control Him?Listen to this week's message now! Acts 19:1-20 "Theological Errors" with Pastor Todd Hessel.https://www.ankenyfree.church

Jesus tells this parable to expand our understanding of God's grace.
Mr. Kristoff Reese Grosfeld, our visiting preacher, reminds us that while we may want to give our all to get God's attention, he has already given his all for us.
Nathan Harrison teaches on October 20, 2024.
"God led the people around by the desert road." Ex 13:18 NIVThe Bible says, "When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them on the road through the Philistine country, though that was shorter. For God said, 'If they face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt. So God led the people around by the desert road" (vv. 17-18 NIV). There is a lesson here for you. God knows where you are on your spiritual journey, and He is directing you accordingly, even when it seems like a roundabout way. "The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives" (Ps 37:23 NLT). The shortest route from Egypt to the promised land was through enemy territory, and God knew His people were not ready for battle. "God said, 'If they face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt. So God led the people around by the desert road." Getting God's people out of Egypt proved to be the easy part; getting Egypt out of God's people proved to be the hard part. After forty generations of depending on Pharaoh, they needed to know God, learn His ways, and trust Him. So, He arranged their journey accordingly. Are you having a wilderness experience at the moment? Be encouraged. The fulfillment of what God promised you may be taking longer than you thought, but it's not time wasted. And God is not punishing you;He is training you for your destiny. What should you do? (1) Spend time with Him in prayer and His Word. (2) Lean less on yourself and more on God. (3) Draw on His grace and follow His guidance.Support the Show.Changing Lives | Building Strong Family | Impacting Our Community For Jesus Christ!

There is something very close to the heart of Jesus in Isaiah 58. Jesus announced his own calling with similar words, "The Spirit of God has anointed me to preach good news to the poor, to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim deliverance to the captives..." Isaiah 58 is a beautiful portrait of the "more" we are preparing for during this season of Lent. - A light in darkness--healing for wounds--God's got our backs - God's immediate presence hearing us and guiding us - Never-failing streams of water for dry souls - So watered by the overflow God that we refresh others - Being used by God to rebuild what has been destroyed We just need to get God's attention. Fasting is less about getting God's attention and more about becoming the kind of people who have His heart and get His attention!
