His leadership skills are evident by the appointments he held in his career in the banking and finance industry. Sean has been a "grassroots leader" for the past eighteen years. We like to call those guys ‘basketball lifers'! A native of Lagos, Nigeria this outstanding hooper grew up in Brooklyn, NY where he attended Paul Robeson High School! An outstanding talent and double double machine, this brother averaged 19 points and 13 rebounds a game as a senior to lead his team to a national ranking of 18th in the country! Being named Player Of The Year in the PSAL his senior season he went on to garner a full basketball scholarship to attend and play for Hofstra University! Becoming an immediate contributor to the team, he was named CAA(Colonial Athletic Association) Rookie Of The Year after averaging 14 points and 8 rebounds a game! While starring at Hofstra, he was selected All-CAA second team as a sophomore and first team as a junior! Making a tough decision, he finished his collegiate career at Hartford University where he averaged 21 points and 13 rebounds a game and was also selected to the All-CAA first team! Going undrafted in 2006, this hooper spent time with the New York Knicks summer league team as well as playing preseason games with the Seattle SuperSonics! Taking his talents international, he spent over 10 years overseas playing in Israel, Turkey, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, and Mexico to name a few! Tim DeJohn is an MiLB Coach in the Baltimore Orioles Organization. He played collegiately at Western Connecticut State University, a Division III program. He began his coaching career in 2007 as an assistant coach at his alma mater WCSU. He then coached at Plainville High School for 2008-2010 as an Assistant Coach and Southington High School from 2011-2015 as an Associate Head Coach. Next, he spent 2016-2017 as an Assistant Coach at Hartford University and 2018-2019 as an Assistant Coach at Memphis University. In the Summer of 2019 he was an assistant coach for the Milwaukee Milkmen and Independent League team in the American Association. Than on November 1st, 2019 he was hired by the Baltimore Orioles Organization as a Minor League Coach. In this podcast, we start off talking about his Father and the fact that he spent 49 years in professional baseball. We than discuss Coach DeJohn's own personal coaching journey and his time throughout the different levels. Ninth guest on Actsiders, Riza Takahashi is from Itami, a provincial town in the South of Japan. A dancer, singer and actor Riza is a gifted multifaceted artist. From an early age, she was set on one goal: Broadway. And nothing would stop her. At 16, she leaves her hometown and move to Canada to learn English. Despite the language barrier, she powers her way through highschool and enrolls at Hartford University within the musical theatre department. Since then, she has performed in a great variety of musicals from "Mamma Mia!", "Les Misérables", "King and I" to "Spamalot" - a hilarious adaptation from the 1975 film "Monty Python and the Holy Grail". As she tells me in our conversation, the journey has not also always been easy. You will hear us talk about her struggle with the language, the highly demanding training she received in Japan, the pros and cons of being a very specific type in this industry, but also her unwavering determination, and passion for coffee! As a matter of fact, Riza has become a savvy coffee drinker, she now writes for a Japanese company and has a very popular Instagram account where she relates her coffee adventures. Mohammad is Arab with an Israeli passport — a Muslim Palestinian citizen of the State of Israel. Like 20 percent of Israel's population, he is, as he puts it, a child of both identities. He brings an unexpected way of seeing inside the Middle Eastern present and future. Previously, from 2005-2013 Mohammad served as the Co-Director of the Abraham Fund Initiatives. Before that he served as the Elections Campaign Manager for the Democratic Arab Party and later the United Arab List. Mohammad holds a B.A from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, an M.A. in Public Administration from Hartford University, and an M.A. in Peace and Conflict Management from Haifa University.
