Matt studied theatre at the University of Southern Maine and The Boston Conservatory before heading down Route 95 to NYC in 2004. In June 2009, Matt got the call to make his Broadway debut in the Tony-winning production of HAIR with Tony Award winner Diane Paulus at the helm. Matt continued with that production, “Across the Atlantic Sea,” to the West End in the role of “Woof” and then launched the first national US Tour of HAIR and was seen back on Broadway in the “Summer of Love” revival of HAIR.Following his time with the hippies, Matt launched the first national tour of Green Day's AMERICAN IDIOT as the “Representative from Jingletown”. Matt's cross-country adventures continued in 2014 with the first national tour of ONCE, where he played “Svec” and five instruments. Over the last five years, Matt has been a veteran of almost 2,000 performances.   Thankfully, Matt returned home to Broadway (again with Diane Paulus) in the hit musical WAITRESS, where he starred opposite Tony Award winner Jessie Mueller, two-time Grammy winner Jason Mraz, and seven-time Grammy nominee and the show's composer, Sara Bareilles. He then toured the country with the WAITRESS National Tour as Earl opposite his real-life wife, Christine Dwyer, as Jenna. Upon returning from the road, Matt was a part of developing the World Premiere of The Secret Life of Bees at The Atlantic Theatre Company, directed by Tony Award winner Sam Gold. He also appeared in Orpheus Descending at Theatre for a New Audience.  Matt DeAngelis also started the Janice Jam in memory of his mother, Janice, who passed from metastatic breast cancer in 2022. This annual event channels the magic of Broadway to honor those we've lost, uplift those fighting, and fund critical research. This event serves as a yearly celebration of Janice, her love for theater, and raising money for those affected by metastatic breast cancer.   On May 5, 2025, a group of Broadway all-stars will join Matt and Christine for this event. Canadian-born Jon Mikl Thor began his career in the early ‘70s as a champion body builder competing against the world’s strongest men and winning numerous awards along the way. But his love for heavy metal music compelled him to retire from body building and develop his skills as a musician and performer. Taking the mononym THOR, he quickly gained a devout following in the burgeoning metal scene thanks in part to elaborate and provocative live shows, which frequently featured Jon performing amazing feats of strength - bending steel bars with his teeth and exploding water bottles with his lungs! A performance on the Merv Griffin Show led to a record deal with RCA in late 1976 and the release of his debut Keep The Dogs Away. But it wasn’t until THOR’s follow-up album,1985’s Only The Strong, that he really began to flex his muscles.Thanks to fist-pumping anthems like “Thunder On The Tundra”and the powerful title track, Only The Strong became a landmark release and continues to be heralded as one of the finest metal albums of the ‘80s. As the music scene began to change in the decades that followed, THOR continued to be a champion for true metal, releasing numerous well-received studio and live albums. Then,in 2015, THOR teamed with indie giant Cleopatra Records for a new album, Metal Avenger, which featured special guest performances from many of THOR’s admirers including Henry Rollins, Fast Eddie Clarke of Motörhead, Cheetah Chrome of Dead Boys, Jay Jay French of Twisted Sister and more. A feature-length documentary film, “I Am Thor,” was released in 2016 followed by more studio albums that put THOR in collaboration with some fellow metal deities like W.A.S.P.'s Chris Holmes, Raven vocalist John Gallagher, Soilwork singer Björn Strid, Danko Jones, Anthrax's Neil Turbin, Ross “The Boss” Friedman and others! Kicking off 2025 with an interview with John Gallagher of Raven. They have a new EP coming out on February 14th. It features five new songs and three live tracks, all from different decades. He told me about the songs, and one he said is the heaviest song Raven has ever done. John also told me they're well into working on new music, so it sounds like they have a lot of material ready to go. We discussed their early tours, taking Metallica on the raid, the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, and the bands they influenced. As far as the NWOBHM was concerned, that era didn't last long, but it did produce some legendary bands. Virginia City Montana was the site of the first glove prize fight and lasted 26 rounds. In 1867 Con Orem fought Jimmy Dwyer in a bare knuckles fight. They fought into the night and was to resume the next morning, but Orem was unconscious. When G. Ward and John Gallagher fought a 105-round bout, it ended in tragedy. As courtiers visited the French and Italian courts in the 16th century they not only learnt new languages but new rules of behaviour too.
