Whether we are talking about YouTube, Instagram Reels, or TikTok, showing up online increasingly relies on being on video. You can still reach people with your words via blogging, or your voice, via podcasting, but when you add video to the mix, you 10x the connection your audience feels with you, turbo-charging the process of converting casual observer into a devoted follower and potential client. So, why aren't all of us jumping on the video bandwagon? The top three obstacles are technology, bandwidth, and confidence, and I am pretty damn sure that confidence (or lack of it) is the biggest hurdle. If you are a coach, consultant or other professional service providers, I don't have to tell you how frustrating it is to be on a sales call with someone who is not a legitimate prospect and believe me, it feels bad for them too. When you are just getting started, you may choose to work with almost anyone who is able and willing to hire you, but once you are established, and find yourself in the enviable position of having a waiting list or being able to hand pick your clients, you need a system. Having a screening or application process in place allows you to focus on identifying and serving only those clients that have the motivation, expectations, and resources to benefit from working with you, who will achieve amazing outcomes, and who will happily sing your praises, all of which helps keep your pipeline full. We have all heard that you need to attract your ideal clients and repel everyone else, but how do you do this in a practical and efficient way? One of the strategies I have developed in order to make sure I am getting in front of the right people, for the right reason at the right time is my consultation process and the language I use and the questions I ask of anyone scheduling a consultation with me. I use Calendly, but you can apply the same process to Acuity, Schedule Once or any other online scheduler. In this value-packed solo episode, I walk you through my exact system and how it benefits both me and the prospective client, even if we decide not to work together. What to call it & why: consultation, interview, application, discovery call How it creates value for your ideal client & deters those who will never hire you The 5 questions you simply must ask (and what happens if you don't) Uncommon advice on your availability and appointment reminders Also mentioned in this episode: Claudia Schalkx, marketing consultant https://bridge2more.com/If you find yourself thinking “I never thought about screening my prospects like this,” I've got a lot more expert guidance to share with you. Being a solopreneur can be overwhelming and you don't have to figure it out alone. The first step is to identify which habits and behaviors are holding you back. How to Connect with Viewers Helen recommends that businesses focus their media strategy on a specific audience. Explore the platform and experiment. Any brand's job on TikTok is to provide value to your viewer. Simply making someone smile or feel better brings value too. Being Authentic Is the Key Helen and RichE make note of the value of authenticity and transparency in connecting and relating to your audience. If you are going to do a promotion, make it a TikTok video. Don't make an ad—make something authentic. Working with TikTok Trends and Tools A trend to explore on TikTok is “stitching.” This is a feature for reaction and response videos. Stitching can make it easier to start creating your own content. Recognize trends and memes, but look beyond them to create something that feels like it expresses your individual brand's identity. Use headlines on video covers for organizing your profile. Organizing Your TikTok Content According to Helen, a new post every one to three days will keep up the engagement. Try to make content worth sharing, liking, commenting, and rewatching, and you should find success. Helen Polise is the director of the production company "Muthership."She sits down with the StrixMedia team to discuss her career, as well as her lifelong passion for production. She begins the episode by taking us back to how she got started in the business, explaining that her first job was in advertising as the assistant to the creative director. One day, her boss gave her the opportunity to be the producer of a shoot. Helen was thrown right into the production world with very little experience. Looking back she realizes how this experience jumpstarted the rest of her career, as well as her skills in production. Later in the show, Helen describes how she has adapted her company "Muthership" to operate during the quarantine. She started filming her own video content for Facebook and Instagram and soon noticed that this content was an amazing way for her brand to connect with people online. Helen offers some wonderful knowledge and insight in this episode--- even if you aren't into production. Enjoy!Support the show (http://www.strixmedia.com)
