We're a few episodes into this mini-series on thought leadership, which means its just about time to address the fact that a person isn't born WITH thought leadership. Thought leadership is actually created, developed, recreated, curated, and built upon over time. And one way to do that: to practice your thought leadership and strengthen it is to offer workshops and roundtables to an interested audience. When you're in front of a live audience, you'll be better able to determine what hits, what falters, and then make changes to adjust and improve your thought leadership in ways you can't do with other mediums.Today, I'm joined by Jessica Lackey, and we're going to talk all about using roundtables and workshops as a way to benefit your audience and also to create, adjust, and build upon your thought leadership. This is a must listen episode of Talk Copy to Me, and I hope you'll listen in.___________________________________________EPISODE 123.Read the show notes and view the full transcript here:https://erinollila.com/developing-thought-leadership-using-roundtables-and-workshops/______________________________________________Learn more about our guest expert, Jessica LackeyJessica Lackey is a strategy and operations advisor who blends business strategy, practical application, and a human-centric approach to create sustainable businesses. Is plagiarism a crime? You betcha. But regardless of the legal implications and ethical issues with stealing someone else's work, plagiarism in the digital age runs rampant. Business owners, course creators, and creatives of any kind often have their intellectual property stolen from them. It's often discussed, and people definitely feel strongly about this, but I don't think you really GET how awful it feels to be plagiarized until someone does it to you.And my friends, someone just did this to me. My website copy, podcast content, and likely even my course content was stolen by another online business owner for use on two (TWO!) of their business websites and their new podcast. In this episode, I'll share real-world instances of plagiarism that online businesses' face and the consequences of plagiarism in general, but especially in marketing. I'll unpack the legal and ethical implications of plagiarism, share real-world examples of intellectual property theft, and explore strategies for ways you can protect your intellectual property and make sure that you don't accidentally use someone else's IP in your own work. And yes, if you stay for the end you'll get ALLLL the deets about how another creator — an artist, if you can believe it — stole my work and what I had to do to reclaim my copy, content, and concepts. It's been a doozy of the past couple of weeks, friends. What's the best search engine around? If you said Google, you're probably right, but something else is catching up quicker than you think (and no, it's not Microsoft Bing). It's social media. My guest, Erin Ollila, an esteemed podcaster and storytelling expert with a rich background in copywriting, joins me to explore how and why social media is increasingly becoming the preferred search engine of millions. This isn't a trend to look at, it's an evolution that businesses can take advantage of to better connect and serve their online communities. Listen in and discover the seismic shift in search behavior, particularly among Gen Z, the underestimated power of repetition in marketing, and the long-term SEO game that outlasts instant social media gratification. We talk about return on investment a lot in the marketing world. But how do you know that the thousands of dollars you spent on copywriting and design really gave you any website ROI?Today I'm talking all about how to measure a website's success after it launches. Since these two episodes were recorded during one conversation we may reference the previous episode in what is discussed today. Today, you'll hear part two. I can't go for more than a few seconds on social media without seeing marketing "experts" preach about what online entrepreneurs must do in order to attract a new audience and convert leads into paying customers. And this is exactly why I invited Maggie Patterson onto the show so we could have an honest conversation about how to read between the lines of what's being said online and run a business in a way that feels good and true to who you are. ______________________________________________EPISODE 114. Today is February 29, which, if you ask me, is one of the most fun days. Ever since I was a little kid, I found it so interesting to have a day that only happens once every four years, and I knew I wanted to take advantage of this when I realized that one of my podcast episodes fell on the 29th. This is where the idea for sharing marketing predictions came in.But, as an overachiever at heart, I knew I couldn't just share one set of marketing predictions. Oh, no. I wanted to call in the big wigs to help make looking into the future of marketing into a mini series.I'm so grateful to Liz Wilcox, Lindsay Padilla, and Andréa Jones for joining me on the show to talk about email, podcasting, and social media marketing. But now the big day is here, and it's my job to pull out the crystal ball and cover all the other marketing-specific bases that we didn't talk about yet on the show. The pressure, y'all! After a moment of panic—and a ton of research—I came up with a few key things I wanted to delve into on the podcast. This episode explores the uncertainty of SEO, predictions for changes in marketing copy and content, shifts in social media advertising, the role of AI in marketing, and why we need to start paying attention to the stricter privacy regulations coming our way.______________________________________________EPISODE 111.Read the show notes and view the full transcript here: https://erinollila.com/celebrating-leap-year-with-marketing-predictions-for-the-next-four-years/______________________________________________Learn more about your host, Erin OllilaErin Ollila believes in the power of words and how a message can inform – and even transform – its intended audience. What does the future of podcasting have in store for us? Will there be growth? Stagnation? Will things evolve much more from what they are now? The truth is...I don't really know.If recent history is an indicator as to what we can expect over the next four years, listenership is going to grow and private podcasting — which is still baby in the podcast world — is going to evolve. But what else can we expect from podcasting besides just growth? I asked Lindsay Padilla, podcasting expert and the co-founder of HelloAudio, to weigh in and share her predictions for the next four years of podcasting. We'll check back in 2028...but I'm sure Lindsay's thoughts about the future of podcasting are going to ring true.______________________________________________EPISODE 109.Read the show notes and view the full transcript here: https://erinollila.com/the-future-of-podcasting-lindsay-padilla/______________________________________________Learn more about our guest, Lindsay PadillaDr. Lindsay Padilla is an ex-community college professor who accidentally started a business while on the tenure track.
