Receipts. Proof. Timeline. Screenshots. What fuels the flames of drama in episodes of Bravo's hugely successful “Real Housewives” franchise can also come into play off the screen when current and former reality stars duke it out in court against in each other and their former producers and employer. In our sixth episode this season, we expose the dark side of reality TV chaos. From claims of an unsafe work environment and intentional infliction of emotional distress made by cast members against producers, to sexual assault by their costars, how much of what we see is actually ... well, real? What does the future of these shows look like in light of these burgeoning legal battles and amid a call to arms by former start Bethenny Frankel to unionize in a “reality TV reckoning”? Does any accountability fall at the gilded doorstep of Bravo and Andy Cohen for the behaviors of their Bravolebrities? Tune in to find out what happens when people stop being polite and start being real. Real litigious. Special guests:Attorney Mark Geragos, who represents former “Vanderpump Rules” stars Rachel Leviss and Faith StowersBrian Moylan, author of “The Housewives: The Real Story Behind the Real Housewives”Attorneys Cesie Alvarez and Angela Angotti of “The Bravo Docket” podcastThis episode was produced by Kirk McDaniel. Danielle J Lindeman Releases The Book True Story What Reality TV Says About Us

What do we see when we watch reality television? In True Story: What Reality TV Says About Us, the sociologist and TV-lover Danielle J. Lindemann takes a long, hard look in the "funhouse mirror" of this genre. From the first episodes of The Real World to countless rose ceremonies to the White House, reality TV has not just remade our entertainment and cultural landscape (which it undeniably has). Reality TV, Lindemann argues, uniquely reflects our everyday experiences and social topography back to us. Applying scholarly research-including studies of inequality, culture, and deviance-to specific shows, Lindemann layers sharp insights with social theory, humor, pop cultural references, and anecdotes from her own life to show us who we really are. By taking reality TV seriously, True Story argues, we can better understand key institutions (like families, schools, and prisons) and broad social constructs (such as gender, race, class, and sexuality). From The Bachelor to Real Housewives to COPS and more (so much more!), reality programming unveils the major circuits of power that organize our lives-and the extent to which our own realities are, in fact, socially constructed. Whether we're watching conniving Survivor contestants or three-year-old beauty queens, these "guilty pleasures" underscore how conservative our society remains, and how steadfastly we cling to our notions about who or what counts as legitimate or "real." At once an entertaining chronicle of reality TV obsession and a pioneering work of sociology, True Story holds up a mirror to our society: the reflection may not always be pretty-but we can't look away. "[An] insightful study . . . [Lindemann] makes astute points by tracing the history of the genre all the way back to MTV's The Real World in 1992, and offering analysis of popular shows such as Survivor, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and the Real Housewives franchise . . . [True Story] takes the guilt out of a popular guilty pleasure."-Publishers Weekly "True Story is not only an amazing dissection of the true meaning of the reality TV genre, it's also an adept exploration of sociology through the accessible lens of all of our favorite shows. A must read for any true fan of the reality television arts and sciences."-Brian Moylan, author of The Housewives: The Real Story Behind the Real Housewives "Danielle Lindemann writes with deep curiosity about reality TV - both its faults and its promises - and what it says about our social world. She moves expertly between the Kardashians and Honey Boo Boo as well as social constructs like the family, class, and gender, showing how the genre poses fundamental theoretical questions about ourselves and authenticity. True Story is an important guide for both pop culture enthusiasts and readers who want to learn more about sociology. There is surprising wisdom here, and sharp insights into the reality of social life."-Ashley Mears, author of Pricing Beauty: The Making of a Fashion Model "Don't be all, like, uncool. Be sure you read True Story. Lindemann has written the definitive sociological interpretation of reality television, using a variety of shows to define major concepts and our field. After reading this book you will know how to defend your favorite 'guilty pleasure' to friends and family."- Hilary Levey Friedman, sociologist and author of Here She Is and Playing to Win

it's truly fruit o'clock and therefore the gals discuss citrusy couscous, roasted strawberry brownies, and a very important panzanella. Notes:Marie discusses weddings and bars with relatives Also the time Marie was on vocal rest and we communicated only with our eyes Alissa discusses Pittsburgh and how it has too many bridges and that is all that people talk about! Bartlett house - BOTW MM - honorable mention cornmeal and cherry scone!!! Oh no, the beefy donut (barf)! BOTW donuts - jelly-filled! (strawberry - perfect chunky/goopy texture) + cinnamon twist (texturally perfect)Alissa - panzanella season is back- inspired by the country panzanella with watermelon WOTW Marie - wedding food!!! Marie really fux with a passed app - loves a bacon-wrapped scallop, deconstructed crab rangoon, and lamb chops. Surf and turf for dinner - sea bass was parfait but the meat was sooooo well done (one color brown) and that is MMs least fav meat experience. So dry and weird/bad! WOTW Alissa - everything I ate in Pittsburgh, sorry everyone! Marie's recipe: Simply Julia by Julia Turshen strikes again! Palm Springs couscous and citrus salad recipe. Perfect potluck food! @itsholly - roasted strawberry + dulce de leche brownies via her Patreon! The roasting strawberries technique is extremely important to have in your back pocket. Hot take of the week: IF YOU ARE NOT WATCHING TOP CHEF WHAT ARE YOU DOING - this is the best season ever IMO and they are just not getting the credit they deserve. What are we chewing on - the pandemic is over….are things normal now? Also chewing on - Chrissy Teigen!!! What the fuck is going on with that. BOOKS: AA: The Roommate and The Housewives: The Real Story Behind the Real HousewivesMM: Malice and The Secret Lives of Church Ladies

This episode features the fishing trip you never knew you were missing. We would literally pay to watch Sonja and Eboni in waders, screeching as they try not to get washed away by the surf. Luann might have good game with a baton, but she's got nothing on Sonja with a big rod. Big Lu gets some more education on why “angry” is a loaded word for Black women in America. Of course, Heather KNEW all about that because she KNOWS Black America...at least the excessively rich and privileged part of Black America (shut the eff UP, mama). The ladies get ready for a confusing theme party. Leah gets into it with the baroness of Yummy Tummy. And Sonja is making all kinds of sense. So, yes, the world really has turned upside down. Sarah files paperwork to ascend the throne (not in the UK, but the Bravo Clubhouse downtown). She runs into some issues as she attempted to trademark "Dame" for sole use in the cloffice, as there is more than one royal head of the Bravo community. So who better to share a crown than her fellow writer girl with a heart of gold (Satchels of Gold), Founder and President of the Real Housewives Universe, Dame Brian Moylan (New York Times bestselling author behind "The Housewives: The Real Story Behind the Real Housewives"). They discuss the similarities and differences between Ariana, Lisa Hochstein, and Larsa's roles in their relationships (and breakups), potential nuance in the upcoming season of Summer House around Carl and Lindsay's "surprise" breakups, and how Sandoval and Erika Jayne frame toxic social media when questions arise about accountability and blame. Sarah celebrates another night of Hanukkah by opening the greatest gift of all - the premiere episode of Orange County, welcoming back fellow menorah holder and  homeowner of what looks like a 750 room mega-sized Ritz Carlton in Aspen, Heather Dubrow (we are truly blessed). And who better to unpack such a porte cochère covered present, than one of Sarah's favorite people and guests - Brian Moylan, President and Founder of the Real Housewives Institute, New York Times bestselling author ("The Housewives: The Real Story Behind the Real Housewives"), contributor on the recent ABC News/Hulu doc about Jen Shah, and host of The Dipp's holiday podcast, "The Twelve Gays of Christmas." Agreeing to disagree on 107% of the topics discussed (a new goal on the pod!), they explore lessons Porsha and Kyle could learn about post-Housewives generational success by way of Nene and Bethenny's examples, what the current Renaissance period for Housewives means for its future, and what - if any - responsibility the network and its audience share for combining entertainment with unfolding criminal case storylines.
