How to Win the Season I hope this Podcast finds you pacing the sidelines with enthusiasm and/or gearing up for another rewarding season. As coaches, we're united by the relentless pursuit of excellence, both in ourselves and our teams. That pursuit is why I'm reaching out today to invite you to something special, something that could redefine your season – just as it did mine, many years ago. You might look at my record now and think it's been smooth sailing – 3 State titles, NBA-level talent developed, and an 80% winning rate over 25 years – but there's a story behind the stats that might resonate with you. Imagine taking over a program that, for 30 years, had never tasted the thrill of victory consistently. A single season in, with a 7-14 record, I sat in the locker room, shoulders hunched and spirit deflated. The echo of defeat was loud, but the voice of my mentor, Bruce Dahmen, was louder. Tears blurred my vision as I confessed, "I can't do this." But on that 2-hour bus ride home, amidst the heartache, Bruce helped me craft a blueprint that would change everything. We decided to reset the board – new strategy, new culture, new philosophy. Today, I want to share with you the frameworks that turned despair into a legacy of success. Join me for the "WIN THE SEASON" Masterclass, a complimentary session where I'll peel back the playbook on building a victorious team and program. It's the culmination of lessons learned, from that fateful bus ride to the heights of high school basketball acclaim. In this masterclass, you will discover: How to foster a winning team culture that breeds success The philosophies that guide winning decisions, on and off the court Strategies for building a program that thrives year after year Real-life stories and insights from a journey not so different from your own This isn't about theoretical success; it's about practical, actionable guidance drawn from decades in the trenches. Thanks Nachum! The days are ticking down to the 2022-2023 Winter finals and two matchups are already set. Straight ahead on the Tuesday Morning JM in the AM Sports Update, JV Hockey and JV Girls basketball are gearing up for their big games, Varsity hockey and Varsity Girls Basketball will get there tomorrow night and JV and Varsity Boys basketball will take their time as their final is almost three weeks away. All that and more, good morning, I'm Elliot Weiselberg. JV Hockey is the first boys league to have its championship matchup set. The 2023 final will feature the same teams as the 2022 final, the TABC Storm and DRS Wildcats. The Storm reached the big game by upending North Shore, 8-1. For DRS, the road was a bit more treacherous. The Wildcats took on SAR last night, following the Sting's 7-3 thrashing of Flatbush in the quarters and for most of the game looked as if they were primed for an upset. However, three goals in the final 6 minutes of the game would spell the downfall for the Sting, as Sophomore Yitzy Yudin's game winner helped DRS to a 4-2 win and another championship appearance. The championship will be Sunday March 12, location to be determined. Varsity Hockey will be next as both semifinals take place tomorrow night. TABC, the #1 seed will take on #5 SAR. The Sting advanced following a 7-1 upset over YDE, the only hosting quarterfinalist to lose. The Sting and Storm split the regular season series, with each winning on the other's home court. In the other semifinal, #2 DRS will host #3 Frisch. DRS shut out rival HAFTR 5-0 in their quarterfinal matchup and will get a shot at redemption against the Cougars who shut them out 4-0 in DRS during the regular season. Much like JV, a repeat of last year's championship is still in play, but would take victories from TABC and Frisch to set that up. In Basketball, Girls JV becomes the first to know its finalists, as SAR and Frisch both took massive wins in the semis and will meet up in a rematch of last year's semifinal contest, won by the eventual champion Cougars. Frisch has continued its dominance, winning both games over the Sting this season. In Varsity, the semifinals are set, as Frisch will host HAFTR tonight and SKA will take on Flatbush tomorrow night. Moving over to Boys, in Varsity the full set of semifinals will be determined tonight. At 7:45 West #2 SAR hosts East #3 DRS with the winner to take on East #1 North Shore, 59-49 winners over JEC. In the other side of the bracket, West #1 Frisch takes on East #4 Flatbush with Magen David waiting in the wings after drubbing TABC 59-46. Finally in Boys JV, TABC and SAR advance to the semis where they will meet this Thursday. SAR advanced with an overtime upset over DRS while TABC dominated HAFTR. Ramaz ended North Shore's bid for a repeat last night, defeating the Lions 51-46 and await the winner of last night's contest between East #1 Magen David and West #5 Frisch. Championship Sunday is drawing ever closer in all leagues and the Yeshiva Sports Network is the only place to experience the hockey and basketball finals. For the 3rd time, YSN will be streaming all four championships with myself and an all-star cast of coaches and athletes breaking down each contest. With views reaching into the 5-figures, It's a prime opportunity for you to become a sponsor, just like Yeshiva League Pass. Also in Football news the Bengals and Bills game was declared a no contest, Lions take on the Packers this week for a hopeful playoff spot and Pat McAfee gets butt hurt by The Detroit Lions PR team. In Basketball news Donovan Mitchell has himself a game, the current NBA All Star voting results have been released and UT fires their head basketball coach. Also Vince McMahon returns to WWE, Jake Paul wants all the smoke and SZA confirms her BBL. All that and more on this weeks episode of Speak Your Piece.
The crew is back once again after a long break and they've got a jammed packed show. First, as they always do they pay their respects to the many people who have passed as well as their families for their loss. Its terrible how many people have left this earth before the new year. In football news, its the big game this weekend as Michigan takes on TCU in the Fiesta Bowl and a chance at the National Championship. The guys give their preview of the game and final score predictions. Also in football news Derek Carr gets benched and the Lions could be playoff bound but will have to wait and see. In Basketball, Luka drops a career high 60 point triple double, Killian Hayes becomes a Bad Boy Pistons as the Melee at LCA took place this week and we take a look at the new NBA trophies for the season. Paul breaks down some of the latest signings int he MLB, Drake does Drake things to end the year and Hooters talks about rebranding because of a new study by millennials. All of that and more on this weeks episode of Speak Your Piece
Good Morning Nachum and Mazal Tov to you and your family. Today on the JM in the AM Sports Update, after a very eventful week in the Weiselberg household, a one-day delay only adds to our coverage. Straight ahead, SAR returns to the conversation in Varsity Hockey, Magen David and North Shore get ready for a showdown in Boys Varsity Basketball, and SAR and TABC continue their undefeated seasons in both JV sports. All that and more, straight ahead. Good morning, I'm Elliot Weiselberg. We'll start out in Varsity Basketball where North Shore finds itself in a very unfamiliar position over the last few years. Hot off of last year's JV championship the Junior-heavy squad rolls into mid-December at 8-0, despite a scare against Magen Abraham this past week, a 56-52 Overtime win for the Stars. Now, North Shore gears up to square off against the other Magen, the 8-1 Magen David Warriors, a squad full of Juniors still stinging from last year's overtime championship loss. The Warriors have a battle-tested schedule off late, taking victories over Flatbush and DRS. The two teams will meet up for the only showdown this season next Wednesday, in a battle that could either determine the Eastern Conference, with a North Shore win, or bust it wide open if Magen David is victorious. In other action Frisch moves to 8-1, knocking off Heschel, and will now gear up to play SAR tomorrow night, in a battle that could do the same for the West. Speaking of SAR, the Sting Varsity Hockey team has shrugged off their slow start and taken 5 of 6 points from top ranked opponents in the last 10 days. Following a 5-2 win over HANC and an overtime 5-4 loss to undefeated Frisch, the Sting rolled into TABC, against whom SAR suffered a 4-1 loss less than two weeks ago. However, the Sting would have their revenge as, tied late in the 3rd, Junior Asher Rudman would put home the game-winner for the 4-3 SAR victory, knocking the Storm from the ranks of the undefeated and placing the Sting 3 points behind the Storm for 2nd place in the West. In other action, Flatbush suffers a pair of close losses, taking a pair of 4-3 losses to HAFTR in overtime on Saturday night and to rival Magen David last night at home, both results come about after defeating Magen David in Magen David, last week, by the score of, you guessed it, 4-3. Onto JV where SAR and TABC control the West in both sports. In Basketball, the Storm dropped Hillel to improve to 7-0 while SAR last played two weeks ago, but currently sit at 5-0. Both teams are gearing up for battles with 5-1 Frisch, SAR tonight and TABC Saturday night. Wins by both teams would cement the two as the above-and-away favorites and set the stage for the division crown on January 26th when both teams meet in SAR for the last game of the regular season. In Hockey, SAR is 6-0, following a 2-0 shutout of Frisch, 2 points ahead of TABC at 5-0. The two teams will know who has the advantage much earlier than their basketball counterparts as the two are set to square off next Thursday in SAR as both teams next contest. However, For TABC it's the beginning of a brutal stretch, as they follow it up with DRS on New Year's Day and Frisch and SAR again on the other side of the break. With the Yeshiva League back, keeping up to date is a must, and the best place for that is Yeshiva League Pass. For all the latest scores, standings and rankings for both hockey and basketball be sure to follow Yeshiva League Pass on Instagram. And that was your JM in the AM Sports Update, I'm going to try to get some sleep. Elliot M. Weiselberg, Esq.
Hanna ‘Norman' Junker is a 2015 Raider graduate. During her time at HHS, she competed in soccer, basketball, and track and field. In Soccer, she was a 4 time letter winner, multiple time All-Conference recipient, and captain of the team. Hanna did not get to compete at the high school level during her junior year due to a MSHSL rules around club soccer. In Basketball, Hanna was a five time varsity letter winner, multiple time all-conference recipient, captain of the team, and scored over 1000 points during her career. Finally, she competed in track and field during her freshman year in the 400, 4x100, 4x400, and high jump. After high school, Hanna attended NDSU where she competed in soccer. At NDSU, Hanna played every position on the field, was named All-Summit team, played in 72 total games, and started in 69 games while racking up 9 goals. Hanna also joined the basketball team during his senior year. Hanna has great insight into the balance it requires to be a multi-sport athlete while competing at a high level.
In Basketball there is a type of player that comes along once or twice in a generation that they call a Unicorn. As you might guess the Unicorn is unique, mainly because they can do a variety of things that haven't been done before. They stand out in a sport where there are a lot of talented and versatile performers. My guest today, Angela Shelton, fits the definition of a Second City Unicorn, having accomplished things that no one else in the Sixty plus years of the theater's existence has achieved. Her Second City experience started when she opened the first ever show at the Second City Detroit in 1993. After writing four shows there she moved north to the Second city Toronto where she became only the second African American performer in that theaters 20 plus year history (more on that later). Having worked at Two different theaters in two different countries is enough to Put Angela into Rare air, but she was barely half way done as she then moved to Chicago writing shows on both the ETC and Mainstage, making her the only person to open a show on Three Second city Stages. And if you are keeping score, you've figured out she's also the only person to open a resident company show on FOUR Second City stages. I am thrilled to welcome the unicorn that is Angela Shelton.

A busy mid-week episode for Peter Klein. First, he wonders why people aren't getting the real reason why the NFL expanded the post-season. Then in hockey, he goes over the Flames big win over the Panthers and what worries he still has for Calgary. Peter then explains why both sides are at fault in the Leon Draisaitl/Jim Matheson drama and which defences for both sides he hates the most. In Basketball the Lakers seem to be putting the blame in the wrong spots while there is a lot of blame to go around for the Kevin Durant injury in Brooklyn. Lastly, Peter recaps the confusing way the UFC has handled their heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou ahead of this weekend's UFC 270.Studio Sponsor: clearwatercleaningsolutions.comCall Clear Water Cleaning Solutions at 403 274 3998 and book a residential cleaning this week and go into a draw to win your cleaning on them. In Basketball, sometimes fouls are necessary, to stop the clock, to get a couple free throws added to your bid at winning the game and other reasons are out there as well, but one thing is for sure when fouls get PERSONAL then, there's a problem. We take a look this week into a situation out of Garden Grove, California that puts a new meaning to the phrase "take it on the chin."#IfICouldGoBackInTime is featured Support the show (https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/my/profile)

Guess who's back, back again? It's us, back from a knock to the noggin! The Red Sox are struggling, falling behind the Yankees as the Bronx Bombers continue to surge in their post-deadline boom. Can they be stopped, or will their revamped lineup be able to sustain their subpar pitching? The Blue Jays made a splash at the deadline and had an amazing first homestand back in Toronto, but it all seems for not after a less than stellar series in Seattle, can they pull it together or is this a lost season? The NL West is a dogfight, with the Dodgers and Padres doing all they can to chase down the Giants. With both Wild Cards looking to come out of the division, it's shaping up to be a fun finish. In BASKETBALL (we know!) content, is Kyle Lowry the Greatest Raptor of all Time? It's the return of our classic segment Fucking Vote! With the 44th Canadian General Election underway, we remind our Canadian listeners to get out there and vote, no matter for who! Also, The Suicide Squad and What If? are fun as heck! Be sure to catch my shows LIVE on YouTube on my channel - www.youtube.com/c/captainjackrackemlevy ... Love your listening on my 'cast, but it'd be GREAT to interact LIVE with my audience! Thursdays... Sundays... and every other Tuesday in the football OFF SEASON... with more shows during Football Season. So the Hockey and Basketball playoffs are in FULL TILT. The Stanley Cup Champion Lightning made it to the next round following a tough battle with intrastate rivals the Panthers from Miami. The Islanders dispatched the Penguins, so I KNOW we'll hear from Jared and Jimmy soon. Boston threw the Crapitals (SIC) out of the rounds, so it'll be BOSTON VS the ISLES... and VGK and the Wild will go to SEVEN GAMES!!In Basketball, the Sixers are up 2-0... the Lakers under LeBum (SIC) tied up their series with the Suns... THE Mavs and Nets are also up 2-0 in their series. It's looking to me (so far) like a SIxers/Nets tilt in the East... am I wrong? A few of our guests actually TALKED about Basketball, with Xavier from Boston stating the Celts would WIN IN 6... Jesse AND Kurtz stated LAKERS IN 5!! Brass balls!! Gotta Love it!!In Baseball, the NL East is TIGHT AF, with First to Last place only a 3.5 game spread. While we're talking the East - but in the Junior Circuit, the RAYS have the BEST RECORD IN THE AL... with the surprising (well NOT really surprising) Padres having the BEST RECORD IN BASEBALL out in the NL West, with the Giants and Dodgers both a game back. Did I forget any sports? Hmmmmmmmmmm... LOL... YES WE'LL TALK FOOTBALL OF COURSE... Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh!!
