Moroni abridges the writings of Ether and the history of the Jaredites, drawn from the 24 gold plates discovered by the people of King Limhi. Moroni, by commandment from God, seals up the sacred writings and revelations received by the brother of Jared. This sealed portion of the gold plates will not be revealed until some future time when members of His church have repented and become clean before Him. Beginning at the tower of Babel, God leads Jared, his brother and their friends and families to America, the Promissed Land. Eight barges are built to carry these chosen people across the ocean to the promissed land of America. The brother of Jared, filled with incredible faith, sees the finger of the Lord and is then priviledged to see the Spirit body of Jesus Christ.  In Chapter 5, Moroni addresses himself to the future translator of the plates, Joseph Smith.

We consider how revenge and no humility led to this destruction and we consider the characters of Coriantumr and Shiz. Book of Mormon Central: The disturbing account of the death of Shiz was a source of ridicule by some early readers of the Book of Mormon. But accurately describes an attested neurological phenomenon. Both Coriantumr and his rival were exhausted (Ether 15:29-30). If Coriantumr’s blade strayed a little higher than he intended, passing through the base of the skull, at the level of the midbrain, this would have caused decerebrate rigidity. This neural reflexive action occurs when the upper brain stem is severed from the brain causing muscles in the arms and legs to contract and would have caused Shiz’s body to rise up on his hands before bleeding to death. Simultaneously, the respiratory reflexes, which are controlled by the lower brainstem would have briefly retracted and expanded as well. As blood poured into the trachea his rib cage would expand making the eerie sound of struggling for breath. This type of phenomenon was first reported in a medical journal in 1898, many years after the publication of the Book of Mormon.

The Jaredite barges are driven by the winds to the promised land—The people praise the Lord for His goodness—Orihah is appointed king over them—Jared and his brother die.

As the time of the Jaredite comes to a close, we look at the key role secret combinations played in their destruction. We also examine how the National Covenant was, once again, fulfilled in the end of the Jaredites.

After the deaths of Jared and Mahonri, the Jaredite people began a vicious cycle of righteousness and wickedness. That cycle only became worse when secret combinations were introduced to the people.
