You might be ending the year thinking “this did not go how I hoped.” In this solo episode, I talk about the pressure that comes with the holiday countdown, the noise of everyone's highlight reels, and the moment you realize your goals didn't quite match the reality you lived. We break down why not hitting your goals doesn't mean you failed. More often, it points to the season you were in, what you had the capacity for, and whether the structure around you actually supported the things you were trying to do.I walk you through ten shifts that help you look at your year with more honesty and less self-criticism. We talk about what truly happened this season, how to make your goals fit your actual life, and how to recognize progress that doesn't show up in photos or personal records. You'll also hear why perfection can't be the expectation, why you're not starting over, and what it looks like to train like the version of yourself you're becoming instead of waiting for the perfect stretch of time to feel motivated. Are you feeling behind or discouraged as the year wraps up? This episode is a real conversation to help you step into next season with more steadiness, compassion, and self-trust. Tune in.What's Discussed:(00:55) Why end-of-year pressure and goal season hit so hard(01:25) When your goals don't match your reality and what that actually says about you(02:58) The 10 shifts that help you make progress and move forward(11:11) How support, structure, and honest guidance stop the endless “start over” cycle(12:09) The perspective you might need right nowThank You to Our Sponsors:Timeline: Get you free 3-day trial of Mitopure gummies. As we conclude our series in Acts we zoom out to look at the story in its entirety, in the context of the biblical narative. In turning our attention to the mission of God, the kingdom of God and the church we realize that the story has not ended and in fact we are invited into God's ongoing work in this world.

In this episode, I'm happy to have not just one, but two awesome guests, both with powerful stories and real connections to American military life. Today, Darwin N from the blog will be joining me as a co-host, as he's a huge fan of the works of Chris Kyle and is excited to finally be able to speak to our guest in person about some of his questions. Our guest today, Colton Kyle—son of the legendary “American Sniper,” Chris Kyle—sits down with us to talk about his dad's legacy, growing up in that shadow, and what it means to carry that name forward in his own way. Chris Kyle's story is one most of us know, likely through his books, as well as a fairly popular movie, but hearing from Colton gives it a strikingly human side. He also shares a look into the charity work connected to the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation (now TACK-F), which helps military and first responder families stay strong and connected when life gets tough. Together, the three of us dig into stories of resilience, family, and the kind of purpose that goes way beyond the range, and also take a chance to talk about the direction that the young Colton Kyle is taking his family's business, and use it as a force for good among the Veteran and 2A community. Today's episode is not only fun but also a genuine, grounded talk about carrying a legacy, helping others, and finding meaning in the hard stuff—told by a young, enterprising man whose also got a wedding just around the corner! Why Study Acts You might wonder, “Why study a whole book of the Bible, especially one this long?” Here's why: Acts meets us wherever we are in our faith journey. For the new believer: Acts shows what Christianity looks like in practice: baptism, prayer, fellowship, and witness. It makes clear that ordinary people were used by God to accomplish extraordinary things. In our culture, we often assume you need credentials, talent, or influence to be useful. Acts says the opposite: God works through ordinary people, filled with the Spirit, to accomplish His purposes. For the reconnecting believer: Acts reminds us that the church is not an institution but a Spirit-led family on mission. It shows that even those who fail—like Peter denying Jesus or John Mark abandoning Paul—are welcomed back into God's mission. We often privatize faith, thinking it's just “me and God.” In Acts, faith is never private—it's communal. Believers share meals, resources, prayers, and mission. Christianity is not just about reconnecting with God; it's about reconnecting with God's people. For the long-term believer: Acts won't let us get comfortable. It shows that the gospel is always expanding outward, and that the Spirit keeps pushing believers into new places and new challenges. We often equate success with stability, control, and efficiency. Acts turns that upside down—success in God's kingdom is Spirit-led obedience, even when it looks messy or risky. For the whole church together: Acts unites believers across generations. Everyone—new, returning, or seasoned—has a place in God's story. We like to read Scripture as if it's just about “me.” But Acts is written for a community. It's a story we are all invited into, together.

You see, whether we realize it or not, we are all living a story. I know some of you in your mind, are in your head just saying, "No, I'm not. I live in the real world.” But you see the real world is a story. The real the real world is a series of connected events and actions by significant characters that are leading to a particular end. You are living a story. The question is, which story are you living? Is it a fantasy? One that you made up in your head? One that requires you to ignore truth and be blind to the realities around you? Or is it the story that makes sense of reality as it is? Is it the story of God?

This week, I picked up where we left off with the Parable of the Prodigal Son, fusing it with another of Jesus' parables to explore what might have happened next. What if the older brother never repented, but instead followed the same path of greed and rejection as the tenants in the vineyard? What if the younger brother returned—resurrected—and forgave him anyway? This story points us straight to Jesus: rejected, crucified, risen, and offering forgiveness instead of revenge. And just like the older brother, we have a choice—resist and be crushed, or repent, be broken, and receive His grace. It's a stunning picture of love that changes everything. Let's fix our eyes on Jesus, the cornerstone, and walk in the joy and freedom He's given us.
