Amit ma tudunk arról, hogy a veszélyes anyagokkal dolgozó üzem folyamatosan megszegte a környezet- és munkavédelmi szabályokat, azt nagyrészt az ő állhatatos munkájának köszönhetjük. - Miért most robbant a gödi Samsung-botrány, és nem az elmúlt 8 évben? ˙(0:00)Az első cikk – 2018-ból. (02:00) - Több, mint 8,5 tonna magzatkárosító oldószer került a levegőbe. 2023-ban. (4:32 - „Óriási teherautókkal meg tartályokkal visznek el rengeteg földet” – 2021. (09:52) - Rendszerszintű probléma, hogy minden megy tovább, vagy leszóltak fentről? (17:01) - Fideszes kampány Gödön, az akkugyárról író újságíró ellen. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity. (Joel 2:12–13 NIV)

Joel 2:12–13Today, as we go forward in procession at Mass to be marked with ashes on our foreheads, we are reminded: “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you will return.” Alternatively, the minister may say, “Repent, and believe in the Gospel.” What humbling words to hear.Do you desire to be humble? From a worldly perspective, humility is rarely esteemed as a virtue. However, those who are truly humble have a radiance that emanates from their souls. Even those who are deeply worldly often recognize the beauty of authentic humility. Among all the virtues we are called to cultivate, faith, hope, and charity are the greatest. No other virtue helps us grow in these three as effectively as humility.Humility is nothing other than seeing ourselves from God's perspective and embracing that truth. It allows us to shed false personas, along with any elevated or distorted images we might have of ourselves. In humility, we come to know who we truly are and live as God created us to be. Humility is the virtue of truth and integrity—seeing ourselves as we are in the mind of God and becoming that person.Imagine being able to look at your life and fully understand it in the way God does. This is the essence of humility. Moreover, humility enables us to embrace God's will, as it opens our eyes to the wisdom of His divine plan. It frees us from the deceptive desires that promise only fleeting happiness, dispels the fears that arise from believing lies, and reorders our desires so that we want only what God wills for us.The Scripture passage from the Prophet Joel is a powerful call to make this Lent a time of humility, repentance, penance, and transformation. As we are reminded of our mortality—“you are dust, and to dust you will return”—we are invited to adopt an eternal perspective, rather than a limited earthly one. Too often, we are tempted to live for the moment, to satisfy every craving, and to enjoy all that this world offers. Humility helps us turn our gaze away from passing earthly pleasures and focus on Heaven and eternal life.Lent is a time to return to the Lord with our whole hearts, “with fasting, and weeping, and mourning.” Fasting and penance are necessary to ensure that earthly desires do not dominate our ambitions. We must weep and mourn as we confront our sins, addictions, and worldly attachments that promise only fleeting satisfaction. Yet, God is a God of infinite mercy, “slow to anger, rich in kindness, and relenting in punishment.” His justice rightly punishes those who reject His mercy, but when we shed pride, sin, and worldliness, His mercy fulfills all justice and He withholds His punishment.As we begin our Lenten journey, reflect today on the words of the Prophet Joel as if they were spoken directly to you: “Even now, says the LORD, return to me with your whole heart...” Do not let this Lent pass you by. Enter it with a wholehearted commitment. “Repent, and believe in the Gospel.” Face your soul with humility and confidence in God's mercy. Identify your sins, turn from them, do penance, pray, and seek holiness. If you do, God, in His great mercy, will transform your life in ways beyond your imagination. My merciful Lord, I repent of my sins with my whole heart and beg for the gift of humility so that I may see myself as You see me and change in the ways that You desire. I commit myself to You entirely and ask for Your abundant mercy this Lent. May I keep my eyes on Heaven and live for You alone. Lent precedes Easter as a season of preparation. We are encouraged to pray, give alms, and fast. We invite Christ more into our lives this time of year so as to bring about greater conversion before the great feast of Easter. This blogcast explores “Letting Christ Reign in Your Lent" from the Ad Infinitum blog, written by Erin Donn, and read by Meghan Abando.“Jesus, let there be more of you and less of me.”This is the short prayer I was once encouraged to pray as a penance by a wise, older priest. As we find ourselves at the start of Lent, these words once again come to mind, and I would like to offer them for your contemplation.​The Church offers the season of Lent as an opportunity to prepare Her children well for Christ's resurrection–both at the celebration of Easter (March 31 this year) and at His Second Coming. These preparations take the form of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving; the spiritual, penitential, and charitable practices we take up and the worldly things we put down. For forty days we walk into the desert, just as Jesus did, to humbly open ourselves to temptations and more fully offer our lives to the Lord. So what does that prayer–letting there be more of Jesus and less of me–have to do with Lent? Well…everything. In the first reading at Mass on Ash Wednesday, the prophet Joel extols us: “Rend your hearts, not your garments, and return to the LORD, your God” with your whole hearts (Joel 2:12). The Lord does not want to see what we can do of our own strength or will during this season; He wants us to see what He can do through us and the transformation He can work within us. Lent certainly calls for a degree of testing the limits of our comfort zones. More than this, it is an invitation to leave behind our will and consider the offerings and changes that will help us become more like Christ. As you reflect on your Lenten practices, consider asking yourself: “What can I offer to Jesus? How can I make more room for Him in my life? What can I let go of that will help me on this journey?” Approaching Lent in this way necessitates an act of surrender. It requires us to focus less on the material outcomes and more on the spiritual. This might mean to not give up ice cream like you do every Lent and instead, or additionally, prayerfully consider what areas of your life you have been keeping the Lord out of. St. John Henry Newman speaks to this in a sermon for the First Sunday of Lent: “...fasting is only one branch of a large and momentous duty, the subdual of ourselves to Christ. We must surrender to Him all we have, all we are. We must keep nothing back.” This, admittedly, is a challenging invitation, but remember that we are not doing Lent on our own. We are doing it with Jesus. This act of surrender necessitates reliance. And this reliance requires humility; an admission of our own weakness and powerlessness compared to Christ's great strength. When you want to snooze your alarm and eschew the morning prayer time you've committed to, offer that to the Lord. When you are tempted to join in the office gossip, ask for Jesus' strength. Ordinary as these offerings may be, that does not mean they are easy. If we have chosen to subdue ourselves for Christ's sake, we can trust that He will provide the grace and strength we lack.​As Catherine Doherty writes in Season of Mercy, “Mortification and penance are a passionate response of a man to a Passionate Lover who is God.” In humbly striving to more fully do the will of the Father, we naturally make more room for Jesus. As you surrender yourself to Him this Lent, also rely on Him. This Sunday, we'll be spending our time in the small but powerful book of Joel. Though we know very little about the prophet himself, his message could not be timelier. Joel speaks to Judah in the middle of a national catastrophe, a locust invasion so severe that it collapses the economy, disrupts worship, and brings everyday life to a standstill. Rather than rushing to solutions, Joel presses a deeper question: Why is this happening? His conviction is that God often speaks through disruption, using moments we cannot ignore to reveal what we have been trusting in and what has been quietly shaping our hearts. As we walk through chapters 1 and 2, we'll see how crisis exposes spiritual complacency. Comfort, Joel shows us, can be spiritually numbing. When life is stable, prayer becomes polite, worship becomes routine, and dependence on God becomes theoretical. But when everything is shaken, illusions of control fall away, and honest self-examination becomes possible. God's call through Joel is not merely to feel bad or perform religious acts, but to return to Him with all our hearts. “Rend your hearts, not your garments,” God says. This is an invitation to genuine repentance rooted in humility and trust in His gracious and merciful character. We'll also see that Joel's message doesn't end with judgment, but with restoration and hope. God responds to repentance with mercy, promising not only physical renewal but spiritual renewal through the outpouring of His Spirit, a promise Peter declares fulfilled at Pentecost in Acts 2. Joel then lifts our eyes to the coming Day of the Lord, when God's justice and mercy will be fully revealed, and He will be a refuge for His people. My prayer is that this Sunday helps us see disruption differently, examine where comfort may have replaced dependence, practice quick and honest repentance, and learn what it truly means to live each day empowered by the Spirit of God.
