Are we living in the golden age of pinball right now? In this episode, we dive into one of the biggest questions in the pinball hobby: is modern pinball better than ever, or are we just caught up in the moment? I also talk about how my own perspective might be shaped by when I entered the hobby. I got into pinball around 5–6 years ago, so the era of modern Stern, Jersey Jack Pinball, Chicago Gaming, Spooky Pinball, American Pinball, and all of these new releases has been my “normal.” But for veteran players who grew up on EMs, solid-state games, or the classic Bally/Williams era, the golden age of pinball might mean something completely different. We discuss the moving scale of nostalgia, why every generation of players may see “their era” as the best, and whether some longtime pinball fans have evolved with modern pinball — or if modern rules, deeper code, LCD screens, licensed themes, and complex modes have changed the hobby too much for some players. From classic pinball machines to today's feature-packed games, we ask the big question: are we actually in the golden age of pinball… or will we only realize it years from now? Drop a comment and let me know: what do YOU think is the true golden age of pinball? Looking to Buy a New or Used Pinball Machine? March is often the time for new game announcements, and this year certainly didn't disappoint with of two new reveals, one updated classic and one upcoming reimagined game, all discussed by Jonathan and Martin in the March 2026 Pinball Industry News PINcast.Turner Pinball made a surprise reveal of their third title, Yukon Yeti, just ahead of the Texas Pinball Festival and brought two machines along for visitors to play.  This follow-up by Dennis Nordman to his classic Whitewater game has striking similarities, but adds more shots, deeper rules and a novel ball climber lock mechanism.Although their machines didn't clear US customs in time to appear at the Texas show, Hexa Pinball launched their second title, The 3 Musketeers, with a reveal at an art gallery in France.  Although no gameplay videos have been released yet, the game will be available to play at selected upcoming shows in the US.The newly relaunched American Pinball are hard at work producing a run of 100 re-artworked Houdini machines commemorating the 100 years since the master illusionist's death, while also developing their first in a series of Williams/Bally reimagined titles, which was announced to be Cirqus Voltaire.  Find out what more they had to reveal and how the free prize draw for one of the Houdini machines ended up with two being given away. After last month launch, Stern Pinball's new Pokémon game made its way to Texas for its first show appearance in Pro and Premium forms, while the design team made a presentation about how the new title was created. While Jonathan and Martin were in Texas, they took time out to visit the factories of Barrels of Fun and Multimorphic and talk to David van Es and Gerry Stellenberg.  Gerry is also the guest in the latest edition of What's Cooking? With... where he shares his favourite dish and also talks more about the pinball business and the latest developments at Multimorphic. The Texas Pinball Festival features in much of March's pinball industry news, so there are updates on Monster League Hockey, Jersey Jack Pinball's Harry Potter, Winchester Mystery House and Dune, as well as Wonderland Amusements' second title, the end of Predator sales, and a catch up on the latest developments in the Deeproot court case.Catch this and much, much more in the March 2026 edition of the Pinball Magazine and Pinball News Pinball Industry News PINcast. Download or stream it right now from your favourite podcast supplier. You'll also find it on YouTube and YouTube Music, or you can get it direct from Spotify on the link above.  Also, don't forget you can also subscribe to the PINcast for free to guarantee you get the freshest episode delivered to you every month, the very moment it is released. There will be lots more news and interviews coming up throughout the year, so make sure you join Jonathan and Martin each month to ensure you're fully up-to-date with what's happening in the pinball world. After all, it's the podcast the pinball industry listens to.www.pinball-mahazine.comwww.pinbalnews.com

The first month of 2026 certainly brought us plenty of excitement in the pinball world, even though we didn't get any of the eagerly anticipated new game launches. So, join Jonathan from Pinball Magazine and Martin from Pinball News as they bring you all the details in the January 2026 edition of the Pinball Industry News PINcast. After many months of inactivity, American Pinball jumped into the spotlight as the business was sold by previous owners, Aimtron. The new owner has been sharing his plans for the company with an ambitious production schedule and the need to rebuild trust in the brand. Those production plans took shape a few days later when a licensing deal with Planetary Pinball saw American Pinball secure the rights to build ‘re-imagined' versions of seven classic Williams/Bally titles. Find out when we might get to see the first of those.Stern Pinball traditionally launches their first ‘cornerstone' title of the year in early January so they can promote it at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Not this year though, as the game has been pushed back until at least February, with the Texas Pinball Festival in mid-March saying they will showcase the first publicly-available games. With no new Stern game to show and the company's current title, Star Wars: Fall of the Empire, not available in Europe, London's EAG Expo show needed something to lift the spirits of pinball fans. So, Jonathan and Martin sat down with Gary Stern and John Buscaglia to talk about Stern Pinball's plans, the state of the licensing business, how they plan to expand European sales, and much more, including a couple of their favourite recipes.Meanwhile, Jersey Jack Pinball have launched a new 3D Game Viewer tool to let you explore the Harry Potter Collectors Edition game close up and from every angle. You can even use Augmented Reality to see how one look in your home or gameroom. There are big changes taking place in Halifax, Nova Scotia, as Classic Playfield Reproductions downsize their business following the retirement of their President and co-founder. A month-long clearance sale has launched on their website too.To find out more, Jonathan and Martin interview co-founder and new President, Kevin Wayte, to explore the past two decades' rollercoaster ride of reproducing playfields, backglasses and plastic sets, and discover the plans for CPR's future. There's also news of new team members at Pedretti Gaming, the end of Predator sales, delivery plans for Alice Goes To Wonderland games, where you'll be able to see Hexa Pinball's new The Three Musketeers, a new tutorial video and software development kit from Multimorphic, plus details of what's going to be available at the upcoming Pinball at the Beach show in Florida.Get all this and so much more in the latest packed January 2026 edition of the Pinball Industry News PINcast.Download or stream it right now from your favourite podcast supplier. It's not often we get a series of new game launches in the summer months, but in this month's Pinball Industry News PINcast, Jonathan from Pinball Magazine and Martin from Pinball News cover three more new releases in June. Two weeks ago, they brought you a special bonus PINcast interview with Daniel Janson of Pinball Brothers, but now it's time to look back on the launch and the subsequent new details and gameplay videos for Predator pinball. The second new game came out-of-the-blue, as Pedretti revealed their Ligabue Pinball Game. Themed around the very popular Italian rock band Ligabue and aimed at the Italian market, the machine has all-new artwork but a familiar playfield design. The third new game hasn't actually been released yet, but the details known so far certainly sound intriguing. Steelbound is the latest title from For Amusement Only Games for the P3 pinball platform. With a large cast of characters and scenarios, this role-playing adventure sees our protagonist facing multiple challenges while exploring dungeons and piloting a giant robot.Last month also saw the launch of Jersey Jack Pinball's Harry Potter, since when it's been an Interesting time for the company. After visiting the UK for the game's premiere there, company founder Jack Guarnieri joins Jonathan and Martin from the JJP factory to talk about the game's reception, what's on the line now and what's coming up, how the three models have been received, what's in store for the topper, and much more.Meanwhile, Stern Pinball also have topper news as they release a lower-cost Expression Lighting topper which ties into the game's lighting and looks ripe for third-party companies to provide their own imagery. There's also news of birthdays for Gary Stern and George Gomez, how to win a Dungeons & Dragons game, and a plethora of new code releases. There's much more industry news, including Dutch Pinball Exclusive's tie-up with The Art of Pinball, American Pinball's latest special offer pricing, Spooky Pinball's game giveaway, and production updates from multiple companies.Plus, in the latest edition of the series, Pinball Profile's Jeff Teolis tells us “What's Cooking” with him.So, make sure you download or stream this brand new edition of the Pinball Industry News PINcast right now from your favourite podcast supplier. It's the battle of the big beasts this month with two mammoth new game launches and a third poised to be revealed. So, Jonathan from Pinball Magazine and Martin from Pinball News are back to bring you all the details in April's Pinball Industry News PINcast. The first beast into the arena was the Sandworm from Barrels of Fun's new Dune game. Based on the 2021 and 2024 Dune movies, the second release from the Houston-based manufacturer comes fully loaded with extensive cinematic assets as well as a new Horizon Atmospheric Lighting system, anti-reflective glass, a shaker motor and even a topper.Facing off against the Sandworm is the ‘Eighth Wonder of the World' in the form of Stern Pinball's new King Kong: Myth of Terror Island. The story of King Kong has been reimagined for Stern's latest cornerstone game which features an animated Kong being summoned by a swinging gong. Kong wreaks havoc, of course, aided by a giant spider as he blocks the balls and smashes a subway car to release the locked balls inside. The third beast is the elephant-in-the-room that is Jersey Jack Pinball's upcoming Harry Potter game. With manufacturing already underway at the company's Elk Grove Village factory, what will be the impact when we get the official release, expected later this month? Also looming large over the industry is the effect of trade tariffs – imposed, planned or threatened. Pinball manufacturers are taking their own approaches to the price increases on buying components and shipping complete games, while others are taking a wait-and-see approach. With some cuts in production already announced or anticipated, Jonathan and Martin look at who's doing what, and what it means for the wider market. There are also current production updates, along with news of some people leaving their posts and others being appointed to new positions.Plus, there are new code updates, of course, as well as some new products and limited-time special offers you won't want to miss. Also in this month's PINcast, Jonathan and Martin swap the pinball table for the dinner table to find out What's Cooking with… legendary game designer, Steve Ritchie. Steve spills the beans on his favourite recipes, so you too can eat like a King. So, make sure you download or stream this latest Pinball Industry News PINcast right now from your favourite podcast supplier. So, Jonathan from Pinball Magazine and Martin from Pinball News are back to bring you all the exciting news from the industry throughout the month of January in their Pinball Industry News PINcast. Last month's PINcast anticipated the reveal of Stern Pinball's first new release of the year, and sure enough Dungeons & Dragons: The Tyrant's Eye duly launched, with public premieres soon after at CES in Las Vegas and EAG Expo in London. Jonathan and Martin were at EAG to play it, but they also got to sit down with Gary Stern, John Buscaglia and Doug Skor from Stern Pinball to talk about the new game, the latest news from the company as well as the state of the wider industry, while Gary also shared his cooking tips. One feature being newly integrated into one American Pinball game is the Scorbit scores and achievements tracking system. But they aren't the only ones adding Scorbit, as Pedretti Pinball announce it will also feature in the next code update to their Funhouse Remake game. It's the final show of 2024 and Jonathan from Pinball Magazine and Martin from Pinball News have a lot of exciting news to bring you from the right across the pinball world throughout November in the latest edition of their Pinball Industry News PINcast. To find out more, Jonathan and Martin call up Jersey Jack himself, Jack Guarnieri, who is in Australia for the Melbourne Pinball Expo from where he explains how Pinball XP works and what those at the company are hoping to achieve with it. November means Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and this year there were loads of exciting deals on entire games, pinball parts and company merchandise. This month's PINcast comes from the Dutch Pinball Open Expo and marks a unique moment as, for the first time ever, Jonathan from Pinball Magazine and Martin from Pinball News present their monthly Pinball Industry News PINcast while actually together at the same desk. Plus, they bring in two special guests, with David van Es from Barrels of Fun and Daniel Janson from Pinball Brothers, both of whom have some exciting news to share. However, as you'll hear, not everything went entirely to plan. October's Pinball Industry News largely revolved around the 40th anniversary Pinball Expo, the manufacturers stands, their seminar presentations and their factory tours. Dutch Pinball Exclusive, having revealed their Alice's Adventures in Wonderland title earlier in the month, premiered the now sold-out game at Pinball Expo with three machines on their stand for guests to play, and also held a seminar about the making of the game. Meanwhile, Stern Pinball, off the back of announcing their The Uncanny X-Men brought out another new title with Metallica Remastered – an updated and enhanced version of their 2013 Metallica game. They premiered this on their Pinball Expo factory tour and then brought it to their stand at the show, along with a seminar by the game's designer John Borg. There were multiple talks at Pinball Expo from the pinball makers explaining how they created their latest releases, including Avatar: The Battle for Pandora, The Uncanny X-Men, John Wick and Jaws, along with tours of Stern Pinball, Jersey Jack Pinball, American Pinball and Chicago Gaming. Naturally, Jonathan and Martin were both there to report on the excitement and bring you video recordings of the key seminars. Then, a fortnight later, they reunited in Veldhoven in the Netherlands for the 25th anniversary Dutch Pinball Open Expo from where they recorded this latest October 2024 edition of the Pinball Magazine and Pinball News PINcast – the podcast the pinball industry listens to. Unfortunately, without access to their normal recording equipment, the quality of the sound isn't up to their usual standard, but they hope you can bear with them for this one-off special recording. You can grab it right now from your favourite podcast supplier, find it on YouTube and YouTube Music, or get it direct from Spotify on the link above, and don't forget you can also subscribe to the PINcast to guarantee you get the freshest episode every month the very moment it is published. As you'll hear, there is so much happening in the pinball industry right now and coming up very soon, so make sure you join Jonathan and Martin each month to ensure you don't miss any of it.
