Steve reads an abridged version of Alexandre Dumas' swashbuckling adventure set in 17th-century France. This version contains many shocking spoilers! Young and hot-headed D'Artagnan leaves his provincial home for Paris with dreams of becoming a Musketeer of the King's Guard. Shortly after arriving, he crosses paths with three legendary musketeers, the noble Athos, the boastful Porthos, and the charming Aramis, and quickly finds himself caught up in their daring exploits. Together, they navigate a world of royal intrigue, deadly duels, secret plots, and courtly rivalries involving the ambitious Cardinal Richelieu and his cunning agents. United by loyalty and the famous motto “All for one, and one for all,” the four companions embark on a series of thrilling missions that test their bravery, friendship, and honor.

March is often the time for new game announcements, and this year certainly didn't disappoint with of two new reveals, one updated classic and one upcoming reimagined game, all discussed by Jonathan and Martin in the March 2026 Pinball Industry News PINcast.Turner Pinball made a surprise reveal of their third title, Yukon Yeti, just ahead of the Texas Pinball Festival and brought two machines along for visitors to play. This follow-up by Dennis Nordman to his classic Whitewater game has striking similarities, but adds more shots, deeper rules and a novel ball climber lock mechanism.Although their machines didn't clear US customs in time to appear at the Texas show, Hexa Pinball launched their second title, The 3 Musketeers, with a reveal at an art gallery in France. Although no gameplay videos have been released yet, the game will be available to play at selected upcoming shows in the US.The newly relaunched American Pinball are hard at work producing a run of 100 re-artworked Houdini machines commemorating the 100 years since the master illusionist's death, while also developing their first in a series of Williams/Bally reimagined titles, which was announced to be Cirqus Voltaire. Find out what more they had to reveal and how the free prize draw for one of the Houdini machines ended up with two being given away. After last month launch, Stern Pinball's new Pokémon game made its way to Texas for its first show appearance in Pro and Premium forms, while the design team made a presentation about how the new title was created. While Jonathan and Martin were in Texas, they took time out to visit the factories of Barrels of Fun and Multimorphic and talk to David van Es and Gerry Stellenberg. Gerry is also the guest in the latest edition of What's Cooking? With... where he shares his favourite dish and also talks more about the pinball business and the latest developments at Multimorphic. The Texas Pinball Festival features in much of March's pinball industry news, so there are updates on Monster League Hockey, Jersey Jack Pinball's Harry Potter, Winchester Mystery House and Dune, as well as Wonderland Amusements' second title, the end of Predator sales, and a catch up on the latest developments in the Deeproot court case.Catch this and much, much more in the March 2026 edition of the Pinball Magazine and Pinball News Pinball Industry News PINcast. Going a little less further back in time, Trent debuts a new segment called "From the Archives" where we delve into the mind of 1990s Toyfare Magazine writers to see just what they were smoking. In 1969, a Picasso painting titled Portrait of a Woman and Musketeer vanished from Logan International Airport's loading dock in Boston and ended up in the home of Merrill “Bill” Rummel, a forklift operator. Unaware of its contents, Rummel took the crate home, later discovering that it contained the painting and hiding it in his closet. As the missing Picasso drew the attention of the FBI and the Winter Hill Gang, Rummel and his fiancée panicked. Could this accidental Picasso thief avoid both the mob and the FBI?What happened next was a sort of reverse heist. Stealing this painting was easy—it was actually an accident. The tricky part was devising a foolproof plan to return it without getting arrested or killed. This book, co- authored by Whit Rummel Jr. and best-selling author and art crime expert Noah Charney, tells the full story and looks at incidents of art theft in the United States, putting this quirky crime into context.ABOUT THE AUTHOR:Whit Rummel Jr. is an award-winning screenwriter and film maker. After graduating with a Master's in Film from Boston University, he began his career as a documentarian. His first project, TATOO, was a quirky 16mm film about heavily tattooed people that aired nationally on the PBS series, Independent Focus. He went on to establish WHITCOM Associates, a Boston-based production house specializing in innovative programming for corporate and commercial clients. His first screenplay, Secret Boy, was awarded the Nicholl Fellowship from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He was contracted by Disney Toon studios to script an animated feature calls Pigs Might Fly.
In our quest for human connection, we often overlook the simplest tools—from the humble back scratcher to the "infinite scroll" of modern algorithms. But today, we explore a different kind of architecture: the architecture of engagement. At Woodland Regional, the math department is staging a quiet revolution. WRHS Math Teachers Mrs. Andrea Gaetano, Dr. Jen Reda, and Mrs. Krystle Kelly recently returned from the ATOMIC conference, presenting a blueprint for the modern classroom. They aren't merely teaching equations; they are fostering dialogue through classroom podcasts and spirited mathematical debates. By utilizing innovative tools like "Snorkel" and creative "Droodles" in Desmos, they have transformed abstract concepts into tangible student art.In a world where big tech is scrutinized for designing addiction, these educators are designing inspiration. By incentivizing success—such as offering SAT milestones to bypass final exams—they create an environment where students don't just attend; they participate.Whether we are unearthing 190-year-old cannonballs or navigating the "Frozen Four," the message is clear: when we empower students with the right tools, we don't just teach—we ignite. This is the future of learning.
Is THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO a story of revenge or justice? Is Edmond Dantes's revenge on his enemies justified? What makes this revenge story bittersweet? In episode 87, The Boston Sisters ask these questions about a new adaptation of Alexandre Dumas's classic epic, THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO in a conversation with Norman Allen, senior minister of the First Parish of Portland, ME and an award-winning playwright who's no stranger to adapting the literary works of authors like Alexandre Dumas ("The three Musketeers") for the stage. The new 8-part miniseries adaptation of THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO premiers on PBS MASTERPIECE in March 2026 and features Sam Claflin (Daisy Jones and the Six) as Edmond Dantès, a nineteen-year-old sailor who, when falsely accused of treason, is imprisoned without trial in a grim island fortress off Marseille, France. After many years of captivity, Dantes finally escapes and discovers treasure, making him one of the richest men in the world. Under the identity of the Count of Monte Cristo, he plans to take revenge on those who wrongly accused U.S. !SPOILER ALERT! this podcast contains spoilers for anyone who hasn't read or watched any adaptation of Alexandre Dumas's THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO.TIMESTAMPSIntroduction to THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO (0:03)Norman Allen's Background and Theatre Adaptations (6:25)Revenge vs. Justice in THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO (12:12)The Role of Institutions and Historical Context (18:43)Forgiveness and Restorative Justice (25:31)Edmond Dantes' Character and Choices (31:16)Adapting Literary Works for the Stage (37:45)Theater and Religion: A Playwright-Minister Perspective (44:00)Potential Adaptations and Final Thoughts (50:29)SUBSCRIBE to HISTORICAL DRAMA WITH THE BOSTON SISTERS® on your favorite podcast platformENJOY past podcasts and bonus episodesSIGN UP for our mailing listSUPPORT this podcast SHOP THE PODCAST on our affiliate bookstoreBuy us a Coffee! This episode explores some controversial silliness over a bottle of wine that shows up in a classic fairy tale. We take a look at the history, and then casually address the wine Little Red Riding Hood may have actually hauled through the woods to her ailing grandma in rural 19th century Germany. We end with a crazy pairing ... all in the spirit of entertainment. Xavier played twice, but we really only want to get into one of them. The Musketeers keep being mediocre, Miami keeps being good, Doug Gottlieb keeps being bad, and we try to fix officiating all on this episode of Banter.

After a disappointing 6-11 season and a third straight year without a playoff appearance, this offseason will be one of the most consequential in recent Bengals history. Cincinnati has chosen stability at the top — head coach Zac Taylor and director of player personnel Duke Tobin will both return — meaning Tobin's roster construction decisions will be under intense scrutiny. Defensive talent acquisition will be the top priority. Tobin publicly stated the team needs a significant influx of talent on defense, especially in the pass rush, after struggling to generate pressure and close out games late in the season. He's highlighted this as a key reason the Bengals lost tight contests and failed to make the playoffs. Improving leadership on defense and overall toughness is another focus. Tobin emphasized needing players who can lead and execute consistently — something the unit lacked during the 2025 campaign — and may look for veterans in free agency and the draft to provide that. The offensive line and backup quarterback protection will likely be addressed to keep Burrow healthy; he missed time due to injury in 2025. Finally, resource allocation and scouting strategy could draw attention: Tobin said Cincinnati won't expand its historically small scouting department, which has faced criticism for its draft results, especially on defense. There wasn't reason to believe much good about Xavier as one year ticked into another. The Musketeers got obliterated by UConn and then lost to DePaul. But, there are always bright spots, at least our refs were better than those for Notre Dame, and none of our alums beclowned themselves. And, goodness, at least we aren't Marquette.

Tre Carroll went off, Wes Miller was happy, Xavier won again at the Cintas. It was a great day to be a Musketeer fan and a game that showed the best, and a little of the worst, of this team. We break it down and revel in another win on this episode of Banter.

Xavier won a couple of buy games, but that's not really what we are here to talk about this week. The Musketeers have an interesting issue building at the off guard spot and UC's Super Bowl coming up to try to address it. Should Roddie start? Is this team only six deep? What have the Bearcats been doing exactly? We get into all that and more on this episode of Banter.
Rick has Paul Fritschner on to discuss Xavier's recent 3-1 stretch where the Musketeers have taken on a strong identity and shown major improvement since the back-to-back losses to Santa Clara and Iowa.
Two good games on the trot and we're feeling good about Xavier. X has become dependent on the three pointer and it is working, except when it doesn't. The defense isn't great, the two point shooting is dreadful, and yet the Musketeers are getting better. There's reason for hope as we enter the festive season.
In our latest tribute, Janet, John, (and Pen) celebrate the life and career of the wonderful singer, actor, television heartthrob, and queer icon because of his heart-touching memoir, Shattered Love... Richard Chamberlain! Born in Beverly Hills in 1934, this American heartthrob didn't start off with an amazing childhood. In fact, even though he was a track star, earning four letters in both high school and college, he recounts his childhood as an unhappy one. Citing that he often struggled in school. Additionally, even with a 60-year-long future career in Hollywood, this actor did not orginally have acting on the brain. It wasn't until he started studying at Pumona College did he discover acting and his deep love for the craft. He, however, wasn't able to pursue this love until after his 16 month stay in Korea after he was drafted into the Army in 1956. After some minor stage experiences, he became a teen idol on the show Dr. Kildare (1961-66), playing the titular character of the same name. He went on to earn the name, "King of the Mini-Series," with his work in Centennial (1978), Shōgun (1980), and The Thorn Birds (1983). He also starred and worked in many films such as, The Three Musketeers (1973), The Four Musketeers (1974), and The Return of the Musketeers (1989), King Solomon's Mines (1985) and Lost City of Gold (1986), The Bourne Identity (1988), and The Last Wave (1977), some of these he would earn an award nomination for. He also go onto win a Golden Apple Award for Best Male Star in 1980. To learn more about this episode and others, visit the official Cinema Sounds & Secrets website!
