How do we reconcile our dysregulation after trauma when it comes to our faith? What is the connection between our physiological experience and God?It was through Lacey Jervis own experience with trauma that she began to understand the profound impact the body's physical responses can have after loss. After losing her dad to a heart attack at a young age while she was home with him, Lacey began to recognize how deeply trauma affects both the nervous system and our perception of ourselves, others, and even God. That journey eventually led her to help others navigate the complex relationship between trauma, the body, and faith.Through her work with women as a Somatic Therapist, Lacey began helping clients untangle their physiological responses from what they often assumed were spiritual failures. As she guided them toward understanding the body's reactions and equipped them with tools to restore safety and regulation, many began to realize that what they believed was a faith issue was often a physiological response rooted in trauma. In this episode, Davey and Lacey journey through her story of losing her dad and explore the lasting ways trauma impacts the body, the physiological responses that can remain long after a traumatic event and why it is so important to understand the difference between dysregulation and disobedience. If you have ever felt like your faith was weak because of the ways your body becomes dysregulated after trauma, this conversation will remind you that God is not disappointed in your dysregulation. Instead, there is an invitation to holiness through your humanity. Website: https://www.daughtershouse.co/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/laceyjervis Not living the story you expected? In this conversation, we explore the early application of functional electrical stimulation cycling after spinal cord injury, and the potentially unique benefits of delivering this modality during a critical neuroplastic window in an in-patient hospital settings. Dr. Jervis‑Rademeyer highlights how stakeholder engagement, participatory action research, and iterative design were used to identify key barriers such as workflow constraints, lack of training, and competing clinical priorities, and translate them into actionable resources for both healthcare providers and patients. The resulting toolkit provides structured guidance on patient selection, safety, dosing, setup, and session delivery, alongside accessible information for individuals with spinal cord injury and their caregivers, with the goal of enabling broader adoption without displacing existing services. We invite you to listen in as Dr. Jervis‑Rademeyer discusses the importance of early intervention and the role of local champions in driving adoption.

House of Villains Season 3 Ep 8 Recap House of Villains season 2, episode 8 brings Chappell and Jenny Autumn back to analyze another chaotic, strategy-heavy hour. Special guests from reality TV past visit the villains, stirring up drama and shaping critical gameplay moments. With cliffhangers and shifting alliances, the episode challenges the usual expectations of eliminations and exposes the wacky, unpredictable nature of this competition. Chappell and Jenny breakdown the house dynamics as former contestants and villainous friends drop in. Kandy Muse hosts the redemption challenge with Tyson, Tom Sandoval, and Christine competing alongside reality TV partners like Jervis Peterson, Tom Schwartz, and Davina. The party segment spotlights interactions between main players and their guests, with Chef Ben and Aaliyah (Drita's daughter) bringing out new sides of Kate and Drita. The strategy focus shifts as Tyson and Tom root for their alliance's survival, while Paul weighs competing advice from Josh Martinez and a possible path to victory. New York's gameplay stands out as she aligns herself with the “vanilla wafer” boys, while Christine's self-assured, low-key campaign may put her in unexpected jeopardy. Highlights include: Tyson and Jervis use their Survivor bond to dominate the redemption challenge, pressuring Paul to join their side. Kate's struggle to navigate her feelings and strategic priorities after Tom Sandoval's emotional apology and the fallout from the infamous envelope mishap. Drita's emotional recharge from her daughter Aaliyah, hinting at a possible winner's edit, or a red herring. New York's calculated alliance positioning, her playful banter with Kate, and sharp observations about Christine as a threat. Christine's passive approach as a pawn, contrasted with Tom Sandoval's aggressive campaigning, raising questions about jury perceptions and endgame possibilities. Will Kate keep Tom to break up her competitor Drita, or is Tom's bond with Tyson too risky for her long-term plans? The party rages on as strategy and social bonds get tested, setting up a pivotal elimination vote. 00:00 Villainous Hosts Return, Banter Begins 06:00 Special Guest Kandy Muse Arrives 09:06 Tyson and Jervis Dominate Challenge 13:10 Alumni Villains Throw Party 17:29 Drita’s Emotional Loved Ones Visit 22:22 Chance Brings Chaos to Party 27:31 Josh Martinez and Paul’s BB History 36:12 Josh Advises Paul Strategically 43:00 Kate Faces Tom’s Apology 47:49 New York and Kate Clash 53:40 Kandy Muse Stirs Party Drama 57:59 Tom Sandoval Scrambles for Votes 01:04:13 Final Pleas; Kate Holds Power 01:11:33 Finale Countdown and Eliminations LISTEN: Subscribe to We Know Reality TV feed to never miss an episode! You can send a text, include contact info to get a response. We have a real example of a cultural change brought about by the pressures of war.  The great weapon of war against corruption is accounting and auditing.  But first attitudes must change. We see various forms of corruption becoming less and less tolerated, as by an unconscious process every form of corruption is tainted by association with the worst of them. We've been covering the end of corruption in numerous episodes from  Shelburne to Pitt, with Burke, with Middleton's efforts in the dockyards in the Chips Anyone? episode and then Jervis's crazy attitudes in the naval episodes. Now we'll look at some of the specific mechanisms with which these forms of corruption are tackled.  There are crazy figures, for example the total value of unaudited accounts in 1807 is equal to the value of the entire national debt.I identify three kinds of corruption.  First there is the kind that can't ever go away, though controls and sunlight can reduce it greatly.  This I will name Fraud, where contracts are violated and/or payments are made without contracts at all, and where government funds are used for private purposes.  Then there is traditional corruption, of the sort when clerks accept tips to perform tasks outside their usual work.  3rd is official corruption, sinecures and emoluments wielded by government to secure votes, but also for other purposes.

You can send me a text if you have a comment or questionWe cover resistance to the French invasion of Catalonia in 1808.  What can a lone frigate do?  And then the battle of the Basque Roads (in Western France near Roquefort) where very unorthodox fireship tactics were used, French loses were high, but it could have been an annihilation victory except for…well, are we looking at the very worst traits of the Royal Navy?Captain Thomas Cochrane has the perfect set of adventures to illustrate this whole issue and what an active Royal Navy frigate could do to help local Spanish, though they might prefer to be called Catalonians, resist the French.Cochrane we have met before (he is Jack Aubrey, but real), as a young master and commander, he and the crew of his 14 gun brig, Speedy, took the 32 gun Spanish xebec frigate the El Gamo.  Boarded her, defeated the 6 times larger crew and captured her, bringing her back to port as a prize.  What should have been a beautiful relationship between the young captain and the senior admiral Jervis, turned bitter and sour as the Admiral's actions were properly correct procedurally rather than warm and generous, as might be expected to reward a once in a millennium level of accomplishment.

The new French and Spanish alliance is ascendant in the Mediterranean.   The strategic move the Spanish make is more dictated by the royal revenue requirements and political strategy rather than naval strategy.  The outcome is the Battle of Cape St Vincent, where Nelson makes an enduring reputation.  We then cover the remarkable career of Admiral Jervis, he is a hero of reform and an irresponsible villain who leaves France unprepared and vulnerable to Napoleon's planned invasion of 1804.and we finish with a discussion of resentment, of Thomas Cochrane's heroism, idiocy and lifelong resentment of Jervis.  Was it deserved?

The shocking true-crime story of a U.S. Border Patrol agent turned serial killer, the four sex workers whom he mercilessly killed, and the upended border town of Laredo where his heinous crimes occurred.Twelve days is all it took.Melissa Ramirez, Claudine Anne Luera, Guiselda Hernandez, and Janelle Ortiz were four marginalized women striving to make ends meet as sex workers. They looked out for one another. But they would soon share a connection that none of them could have imagined. When Melissa was found dead, the other three women were on edge but assumed they were safe. Twelve days later, they too were dead and police had detained an unlikely suspect—Juan David Ortiz, a ten-year veteran of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, where he carried a badge, a service revolver, and was entrusted to protect the community in which he eventually killed. From September 3 through September 15, 2018, Ortiz, a husband and doting father to three children, lured his victims into his white Dodge truck and drove them to the outskirts of town where he violently executed them, leaving them dead or dying on the sides of dark, rural roads. In this fast-paced, electrifying tick-tock, Pulitzer Prize–winning USA TODAYjournalist Rick Jervis tells the gripping story of the four murders that shook the small border town of Laredo, and the quest to unmask a cold, calculated killer who was hiding in plain sight. The Devil Behind the Badge is also a deeply human portrait of the four lives lost and an attempt to uncover what motivated Ortiz's descent into darkness. Along the way, it raises serious questions about the border crisis, the abuse of law enforcement, and the challenges of a federal agency to police its own ranks.
