John's abandoned vehicle is soon discovered near the Memphis & Arkansas Bridge and there is fear that he took his own life by jumping into the Mississippi River. Months later, a drifter matching John's description is seen at a truck stop in Virginia, leading to speculation that he may be suffering from amnesia and forgotten who he was, but all attempts to find him are unsuccessful. April 19, 1991. Punta Chivato, Mexico. While on vacation from California, 34-year old Gordon Collins sets out in a fishing boat alongside his girlfriend, Anastasia Seals, and another couple, Wayne Shwatz and Arlean Burlington. A storm soon hits the area and the overturned boat, as well as Anastasia and Wayne's bodies, are found floating in the Sea of Cortez the following day. Gordon and Arlean's bodies cannot be found, but reports start circulating about a disoriented white male matching Gordon's description wandering through Mexico. This leads Gordon's family to believe that he survived the boating accident and is suffering from amnesia, but they are unable to track him down. On this week's episode of “The Trail Went Cold”, we explore two unsolved missing persons cases in which each victim was believed to have lost their memory before they became a transient. 200th Anniversary of Gladstone's Christian bookshop in Liverpool. Tony Roberts popped into the Flame studio and talked with John Cheek and others about Christian bookshops and the ways in which they can reach out into the community. The Tree of Life bookshop in Slater Street, Liverpool ONE, is far more than just a bookshop. It has seen 200 years of changes in Liverpool social needs and has been, and still is a central point for Christian outreach, staffed by volunteers from a wide range of local churches. Steve and Liz Smith are just beginners but are now regularly establishing an Easter "pop up shop" in the Liscard shopping centre on Wirral as a Christian witness. In addition the Birkenhead Christian Bookshop in the Grange Precinct has a long established reputation.

She has established herself in her own right, in the context of her late father being Bishop Michael Scott-Joynt - and being related, by marriage, to a well-known BBC Radio 2 drivetime presenter! In interview with John Cheek, Hannah also refreshingly speaks honestly about the difficult times in her life, how she has learnt from past mistakes and how such times have strengthened her faith. She places great importance on hearing the stories of others and describes some of the remarkable stories she has encountered in her professional career - including that of one of the children rescued by the Kindertransport from the Nazi death-camp of Auschwitz.

SAFE FAMILIES for Children is a movement of the church to care for some of the most vulnerable members of our society - children whose parents are really 'up against it'. Host Families take children into their loving homes for a brief while, giving the parents much-needed space to deal with a pressing issue - such as bereavement. At the same time, other volunteers may befriend and mentor the parents, whilst generous supporters may donate useful items such as children's clothes, a cot, or help with cooking or gardening. Martin is interviewed by John Cheek about this national church initiative, as well as his life and faith, which has featured some times of challenge; not least in terms of health.
