In this episode you will learn about: Mommy moments vs rigid 5 am club rules How to reframe childhood trauma and cancer Taking away shame How to be the best leader for your home What to do in moments of chaos *TRIGGER WARNING*- Childhood Sexual Violence, Cancer and Abuse Resources: https://www.subscribepage.com/mompreneurcollective Kim’s verse: James 4:17 If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn't do it, it is sin for them. It reminds me that I am only in charge of my own sins and it helps as I'm a recovering control freak. It also releases me of my fears when I feel like I'm doing too much or being too bold. If I feel it's in God's path for me to do I lean on this verse. Kim’s Life lessons: There's so many, but 3 really stand out. As I've processed and healed from my childhood I have learned that it's because of the trauma and pain that I endured, I have to be more so I can do more. I've learned that having a child with extra needs is much more of a blessing and not just because I get to be his mom, but it's where I stepped into my power. Until you're faced advocating daily for the person you love most you don't always know the power you truly have. Lastly, entrepreneurship is not about me. I'm enneagram 3, and I love to be the spotlight, but growing a community like Mompreneur Collective consists less and less about ME and more about the mothers I get to be in community with. Kim’s Super power: Story and the power of our words. Our words, especially in the digital space, house so much power. We truly get to change lives from sharing one story. We all have stories and that's why our foundation in Mompreneur Collective is story. Until you make space to listen to your story, feel it and share it, your business is about the product. Kim’s Jesus story: I fought it for years. I didn't grow up with faith and what I did see from others was people going to church on Sunday to repeat the same negative behaviors Monday. When people would tell me Jesus died for my sins and I was God's daughter I would laugh. I didn't believe anyone or any higher power could love me and allow the abuse that happened to me throughout my childhood. As I became a mother and our truths were being challenged with our son being so ill I attempted, slightly, to listen to his word. I did believe then that it was all happening for a greater purpose, I just wasn't sure how. 5 years into motherhood and Drew is doing better. I've listened more. In March of 2020 Drew came home from school and he said, "mom, I think it's time God becomes our friend." That Sunday I took him and his brother to church and we started our journey of learning. Since, there's been so many opportunities of growth and reflection. Learning exactly how he has continued to prime me for the gifts of my life. I'm currently in the place of full gratitude for what he has done for me and our family. I value the relationship we are creating with God now. All because God gave us this precious son to raise. Guest Bio: Kim Peterson is the founder of Mompreneur Collective. A year ago Kim left her career as a mental health crisis manager to heal her body of cancer naturally and care for her 2 young boys. In the last year, Kim has worked to heal from past traumas in her life. Now she uses her story of surviving childhood sexual abuse to advocate for others. In her wellness business she empowers women to love their bodies not for the way they look, but how they feel. She shares the challenges of entrepreneurship and motherhood, including the life raising a son with autism and epilepsy. Kim is a light and believes the stories of our past and present are what make us prosper. Mompreneur Collective was created to embody the stories of mothers behind entrepreneurship in community, wellness and wealth.

We have (https://linkability.us/) . She's been a previous guest before. We're good friends. We talk all the time. We thought we would take in and put on an episode given the current environment. Kim, you work with people in the LinkedIn space. During this Coronavirus, COVID timeframe, what are you seeing out there and what should people be considering as it relates to their business and LinkedIn? I'm glad to be here, Bob. Thanks for having me. Things have shifted and since this whole thing started, we've been inundated with people, “What is it that I should be doing?” Whether you're in middle management and you're concerned about what your organization is going to be doing, maybe you need to make a pivot. “How do I do that?” That's some projects that we're working on there. It’s a corporate presence. You had a game plan and things that you were going to be doing. You are going to be going to events and doing all these wonderful things. All of a sudden that wording is no longer appropriate and you need to roll that back in, shift and change your narrative. We've been working with organizations that way. We're getting a wave of people also that have not been that active on LinkedIn and are now thinking, “I'm not going to these events. I'm not being able to get out there and get in front of people. How do I use LinkedIn to do that?” Those three things are happening in droves right now. It's a good time to get your feet under you in all of those areas, depending on which aspect is affecting you right now. You're talking to clients of various types of jobs in various businesses and so on. Some are at home, some are working remotely for the very first time. Given that environment, there have been some insights that are starting to gain. I've been encouraging people to get at least one thing done while you're at home, one accomplishment. One of the things that you can do if we don't know how long we're going to be doing this at-home gig is to take a look at what you're doing on LinkedIn. How does it look? How's it perceived? Is it useful or is it just an, “Yes, I have one?” To that end, when you look at somebody's LinkedIn site, what are you thinking when you look at them and what are you seeing now? The big thing is, are you positioned to be found? Is your profile structured in such a way that you will be found for the things that you want to be found for? That would mean that you've got to take a look at your headline. What wording are you using? What industry are you in? Are there any catchphrases that you should be using within your headline so that it's not a title and your company, but you're indicating what it is that you do or more importantly,...

Watch the episode: Listen to the podcast: Kim Peterson-Stone, CEO CommonSenseHealth.org – Helping Clients Grow Their Business And Increase Sales Using Social Media And Online Marketing We’re fortunate to have as our guest Kim Peterson-Stone. She’s the Founder and CEO of (http://www.commonsensehealth.org/) has been helping clients to establish an online presence and grow their business and increase sales using social media and online marketing. Kim has built a network of 180,000 plus highly engaged subscribers and fans for herself and hundreds of thousands more for clients. She speaks, consults, and trains on inspired leadership and how to build quality business relationships and acquire new clients through LinkedIn and social media. Kim, welcome to the show. I’m glad to be here, Bob. Thanks so much for having me. Kim, tell us a little bit about how you got started. Actually, I’ll you in the way back machine how this all started to working in social media platforms, actually, before there were social media platforms. Back in the day, I founded and ran a medical device firm which used storytelling to share what it was that we did. We had a device that uses light to relieve pain. We were relieving peoples pain, but it was a new concept at the time. It was something that needed to be explained. We did that via infomercials and be a being on the home shopping network. We also were picked up by the Denver Post and Newsweek and lots of national publications, PBS. We got a lot of good press, but the device needed to be explained. It needed to be shared. It needed people that had gotten really good results, needed to share that with other people. We needed to form a community around it. We did that pre-platform social media days. We ran that company for about eight years and it grew from a kitchen table endeavor to a $20 million enterprise, and because of the perfect storm and growing too quickly, that business eventually imploded. What I took from that experience is what I learned about human engagement and human interaction. About that time, things were starting to pick up online. On 2009, I started a platform where people who are in the health and wellness community can have a presence and share with one another the types of things that they were doing. These were innovative types of treatments that again needed to be explained and shared. That platform took off. I was not monetizing that as a business at all. It was really just a community that I had created online, but what I found from that experience was that people within those communities were not very savvy on how to market what they did. That was right about the time where Facebook and LinkedIn and a lot of different platforms we’re coming to be. CommonSenseHealth.org (http://www.commonsensehealth.org/) morphed from a community of health and wellness providers to a digital marketing agency within that space. To make a short story long, that’s how I got there. I was doing the creation of community prior to the ability to do it online. When the power of that gained momentum, I decided that that was a perfect segue in a great place to spend my time in building this new business, new enterprise. I think about the...
