Lilian's finding lots of poignant reminders of Peggy while sorting through a box of her things. Tony doesn't understand how old shopping lists can evoke fond memories, but Lilian sees each of them as telling a story. Lilian points out that Tony's surrounded by his children and grandchildren, whereas hers are not only far away, but don't need her like Peggy did. She feels lost without her mum. When Henry arrives he's intrigued by a glass dolphin. Lilian declares he can keep it. Henry's in charge of the goats for Open Farm Sunday – he's planning on buying some leather halters for them when he gets his money. Tony asks what money he's expecting and Henry thinks it's from Peggy. Tony thinks Henry shouldn't be talking about inheritance money, but Lilian disagrees. It's only natural Henry should speculate. Besides, he's missing his great grandma as much as she is. Tony apologises for snapping at Henry; he thinks they would all benefit from a family outing. At Brookfield Rex wonders how David is after their ordeal at the abattoir. Pip maintains her dad's his usual grumpy, stoical self, unlike Rex, who proved himself strong, brave and capable. Pip's puzzled when Rex appears to defend Rochelle. He then questions what he's doing with his life, wishing it had worked out differently. Rex doesn't want to end up old and resentful, mulling over regrets. Later David surprises Pip by suggesting they need to do a major security audit at Brookfield, admitting he'd prefer it if they didn't do Open Farm Sunday at all.

Tracy's helping Susan at a car boot sale. Susan asks if she's ready for Wednesday, her ‘real' marriage day. Tracy confirms she's checked the Register Office booking so there's not much else to do. Susan reckons there'll still be a lot of organising. Who's looking after the rings? And they'll definitely need another cake. Tracy suggests a Tearoom leftover, and declares they can just wear the same clothes as last time. Susan thinks it's a shame Tracy doesn't think she deserves nice things. Susan starts to pack up her stall – she wants to help Tracy sort things out. Ruth and David are grateful for Pip's help clearing up the barn after a wedding event. Ruth goes back to the house, and David notices Pip's not herself. She snaps at him and he asks if everything's ok. He wonders if Toby's upset her, but she insists she's fine. David persists, and Pip confesses she feels bad about leading Toby on. She has feelings for someone else and used him, and now she might have messed things up with both of them. She tells her dad the other person's a woman. David can't hide his surprise but is glad she's told him. He suggests Pip lets the woman know that she's got feelings for her. Later David updates Ruth on the situation with Toby, and Ruth squeezes out the rest of the detail from him. She's glad Pip confided in him, and relieved that they know now what's troubling her. It must be someone pretty great if Pip's this mixed up about them.

1 Samuel 22 NLT read aloud by Simon MacFarlane. 1 So David left Gath and escaped to the cave of Adullam. Soon his brothers and all his other relatives joined him there. 2 Then others began coming—men who were in trouble or in debt or who were just discontented—until David was the captain of about 400 men. 3 Later David went to Mizpeh in Moab, where he asked the king, “Please allow my father and mother to live here with you until I know what God is going to do for me.” 4 So David's parents stayed in Moab with the king during the entire time David was living in his stronghold. 5 One day the prophet Gad told David, “Leave the stronghold and return to the land of Judah.” So David went to the forest of Hereth. 6 The news of his arrival in Judah soon reached Saul. At the time, the king was sitting beneath the tamarisk tree on the hill at Gibeah, holding his spear and surrounded by his officers. 7 “Listen here, you men of Benjamin!” Saul shouted to his officers when he heard the news. “Has that son of Jesse promised every one of you fields and vineyards? Has he promised to make you all generals and captains in his army? 8 Is that why you have conspired against me? For not one of you told me when my own son made a solemn pact with the son of Jesse. You're not even sorry for me. Think of it! My own son—encouraging him to kill me, as he is trying to do this very day!” 9 Then Doeg the Edomite, who was standing there with Saul's men, spoke up. “When I was at Nob,” he said, “I saw the son of Jesse talking to the priest, Ahimelech son of Ahitub. 10 Ahimelech consulted the Lord for him. Then he gave him food and the sword of Goliath the Philistine.” 11 King Saul immediately sent for Ahimelech and all his family, who served as priests at Nob. 12 When they arrived, Saul shouted at him, “Listen to me, you son of Ahitub!” “What is it, my king?” Ahimelech asked. 13 “Why have you and the son of Jesse conspired against me?” Saul demanded. “Why did you give him food and a sword? Why have you consulted God for him? Why have you encouraged him to kill me, as he is trying to do this very day?” 14 “But sir,” Ahimelech replied, “is anyone among all your servants as faithful as David, your son-in-law? Why, he is the captain of your bodyguard and a highly honored member of your household! 15 This was certainly not the first time I had consulted God for him! May the king not accuse me and my family in this matter, for I knew nothing at all of any plot against you.” 16 “You will surely die, Ahimelech, along with your entire family!” the king shouted. 17 And he ordered his bodyguards, “Kill these priests of the Lord, for they are allies and conspirators with David! They knew he was running away from me, but they didn't tell me!” But Saul's men refused to kill the Lord's priests. 18 Then the king said to Doeg, “You do it.” So Doeg the Edomite turned on them and killed them that day, eighty-five priests in all, still wearing their priestly garments. 19 Then he went to Nob, the town of the priests, and killed the priests' families—men and women, children and babies—and all the cattle, donkeys, sheep, and goats. 20 Only Abiathar, one of the sons of Ahimelech, escaped and fled to David. 21 When he told David that Saul had killed the priests of the Lord, 22 David exclaimed, “I knew it! When I saw Doeg the Edomite there that day, I knew he was sure to tell Saul. [...]

When food in your fridge goes bad, you know it the moment you open the door. And your life is like that. When there is something wrong inside, the people who come in contact with you often sense it. Jesus spoke some of His harshest words to Peter: ‘Get thee behind me, Satan…for thou savourest [smell] not the things that be of God, but those that be of men' (Matthew 16:23 KJV). What was Peter's sin? Pride. He openly contradicted Jesus (see Matthew 16:22). There are sins of the spirit and sins of the flesh. Peter's was a sin of the spirit, whereas David's was one of the flesh that manifested itself in adultery and murder. Later David wrote, ‘Cleanse me from secret faults. Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me' (Psalm 19:12-13 NKJV). Now, God doesn't want you to become self-absorbed and introspective to the point where you live in condemnation. But He does want you to be sensitive to sin and deal with it immediately. Scripture gives us three ways to stay clean in a spiritually polluted world. 1) Walking in the light (see 1 John 1:7). That means striving to be honest before God and man. 2) Being accountable. That can mean having someone in your life who is mature enough to deserve your confidence, gracious enough to put up with your inconsistencies, and honest enough to confront you (see Ecclesiastes 4:9). 3) Dealing with your sin right away (see Psalm 32:3-5). The moment that brings consciousness of sin should lead to confession of sin resulting in cleansing of sin. Then you must get back up and go on with God!

In the book of Samuel, we read about David as a shepherd boy. Watching over, feeding, and keeping predators away from the sheep was the responsibility of the shepherd. Although an important responsibility, it wasn't a desirable job and was usually assigned to the youngest or weakest in the family, as was the case in David's situation. He was the youngest of the eight sons of Jesse.Keeping sheep was a lonely job but David was never alone. He spent his days worshiping God, meditating on His Word, and playing music on his harp. He also had plenty of time to practice shooting stones with his slingshot. Being in the wilderness with sheep, David developed courage and strength when faced with predators that were after the sheep. Some of these predators included bears and lions and David killed both. One time a lion had snatched one of the animals in its mouth and David rescued it by striking the lion and taking the sheep from the lion's mouth. When the lion would rear up, David would grab the lion by its fur, strike it down, and kill it. Little did David know at the time that his wilderness training and skillsets would put him in a place of promotion and authority. You may be in a season where you are being responsible but you feel like you are in the wilderness. You may feel alone and are not getting any recognition or appreciation for the work you are doing. Take advantage of these times to come closer to God and experience His love for you. Meditate on God's Word and use your time to develop your skills, both internally and externally. Just because nothing exciting is happening in your life right now, do your best in the season you are in and improve or learn new skill sets and work on developing a strong mind and a closer relationship with God.  As a young boy, David wasn't even considered or remembered by his father, Jesse, when the prophet Samuel came to anoint one of his sons as the next king of Israel. David was still out watching the sheep. Finally, when all of David's brothers had been considered and refused, Samuel had to ask Jesse, “are these all the sons you have?” When David was brought to Samuel, the Lord chose him and he was anointed to be the future king of Israel. Afterward, he went back to the sheep and was not treated any differently. When the current king of Israel, Saul, had trouble with his emotions and mood, David was asked to go to the palace and play his harp before him. David was known as an excellent skilled musician.  When David played, King Saul felt much better and his depressed and oppressive mood was lifted. David was favored by King Saul who promoted him to be his armor-bearer as well. Later David slays the giant Goliath and after Saul's death, he becomes king of Israel. As a musician, David also wrote many songs including a well-known one in Psalm 23.“The Lord is my shepherd, I will not lackHe makes me lie to down in green pasturesHe leads me beside still watersHe restores my soulHe leads me in the paths of righteousnessFor His name's sakeYea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of deathI will fear no evilFor You are with meYour rod and Your staffThey comfort meYou prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemiesYou anoint my head with oilMy cup runs overSurely goodness and mercy shall follow meAll the days of my lifeAnd I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”If you are going through a wilderness experience, remember Psalm 23 and know that God is preparing you for greatness. He is your loving Shepherd who will be with you.  (Jer 29:11; John 3:16)Read the rest at www.litwithprayer.substack.com

He was the true example of a starving artist. At 50 years old, David became known around the world as a relevant artist.   He says talent is not enough -- "you have to insist" and contribute to the art world. Slowly he made his way into sculpture and it later became metal wall hangings he calls multiples and ultimately huge metal installations. Financial success came with his idea of creating playful bright colored metal cutouts or multiples. David realized he needed to be different since Israel wasn't close to the art centers of the world.  He needed to become noticed.  These multiples allowed David to have exhibitions all over the world at the same time.  He stood out from the crowded art world.  Later David created smaller multiples so everyday people had the chance to own his work.  These small multiples became his "Ambassadors" to the art world.  Packable art took the world by storm and David's popularity exploded from Singapore to Buenos Ares.  At 76 years old, David Gerstein still insists he go against the stream. Amazing Informative Links:https://davidgerstein.com/https://www.flickr.com/photos/time-to-look/47607202351https://www.artfixdaily.com/artwire/release/4998-david-gerstein-wallsculptures-at-galerie-frank-fluegelhttps://www.israel21c.org/10-eye-catching-sculptures-around-tel-aviv/ http://www.artnet.com/artists/david-gerstein/

This ark was the place where God would manifest His presence over the mercy seat. Initially, David does not fully seek the Lord as to how this should be done. There is a lot of enthusiasm, but lack of obedience. There is spirit, but not truth. This leads to disaster. Later David follows the instruction of the Lord in both spirit and truth.
