A man after my own heart.   I had to ask…what is a “Wine Wally?” His response..”Basically, wine idiot” That made me laugh. Liam takes a unique approach to speaking on wine and is very straightforward about his goals. Teach his wine lessons live; meaning, he lets his followers in on his journey through the wine world.    I love this idea. For instance, he goes to the supermarket and buys three wines of the same grape from three different price ranges; tastes them and reports on them.  We had some good laughs but some frank conversation too.

It's said that if our Associate Producer, Liam D. O'Brien, leaves his hole and sees his shadow, it means 6 more weeks of barbeque episodes on ILWP. Liam joins Host Mike Pecci on this week's special Friday Mini-Episode to address Mike's rant about film school last week and to get Mike's perspective on something we haven't covered much on the show: crowdfunding. One of the most difficult, stressful, and important tasks an independent filmmaker must do is getting people to agree to give you money for your film. But how do you run a successful crowdfunding campaign? Mike and Liam discuss Mike's experience crowdfunding his two concept films: 12KM and Who's There and how indie filmmakers can replicate a successful campaign. Check out Liam's GoFundMe Page: https://gofund.me/d33aeab4 The GoFundMe campaign is going to continue until 03/15 so check it out before then! If you do want to donate, make a note that you heard about it through ILWP & we'll get you in on some special ILWP-only rewards! And now I have to stop talking about it before Mike kicks me off again. It's another Liam Takeover Episode, and this time we're speaking directly to the listeners who are trying to crack into the industry. The young artists looking for that internship, that first job, that big chance. Here's the thing: a year ago, Liam was sitting in a classroom freaking out about where he would be interning in the Spring. He knew he wanted to be in LA or NYC, but he was in the middle of nowhere PA with zero contacts in either city. So he did something ridiculous: he applied for a position that didn't exist working for a guy who didn't know him. And Host Mike Pecci agreed to let Liam travel across the country to work for him for free. If you're wondering how the hell to not only get an incredible opportunity to network and learn from some of the most talented professionals in the industry, but to actually get the internship of your dreams, check out how Liam pulled it off.   Liam D. Auliciems talks with me about life in Australia, teaching, teacher support and issues with edubusiness. This is episode 310 of Teaching Learning Leading K12, an audio podcast. Liam D. Auliciems is an education entrepreneur, registered teacher, postgrad Masters student and academic researcher from Australia.  After seeing first-hand the dismal state of affairs of beginning teachers across the world, Liam co-founded PRAC-E to help find a solution to the ‘teacher drought’.  PRAC-E has hosted several 'PRAC-E Symposiums' and teacher panels, and have created regular digital media to support beginning teachers. Through PRAC-E's work, Liam has been the subject of a nationwide story on the ABC News, as well as being a special guest on several Education Podcasts in Australia and the United States.  Liam's most recent goal is to aid teachers wanting to start their own media channels, professional development training program or 'edu-business'. This unregulated business world can be scary and unforgiving for teachers, as he found out during PRAC-E's growth. Liam hopes to be an agent of change in the educational sphere, and continue to challenge traditional ideas. Thanks for listening! Lots to learn! Don't forget to share and subscribe! Enjoy! Liam hopes to be an agent of change in the educational sphere, to disrupt the status quo and challenge traditional ideals of pedagogy and student care. Bio for Scott HardingScott Harding has been dubbed the ‘educational all-rounder’ due to his wealth of experience in the teaching profession. Through his 22+ years in the classroom, Scott has had first-hand experience in every type of school you could imagine, from co-ed/single sex, private/public in both his home country of England and Australia. Scott has an undying passion for mentoring beginning teachers and has begun numerous ventures to ‘send the elevator back down’. Scott has a seemingly never-ending supply of poignant anecdotes, practical advice and entertaining stories, all of which carry important lessons for beginning teachers. Scott is currently a senior teacher in one of Brisbane’s quickest moving independent schools, and teaches English and French at the Secondary level. Thanks for listening! Please share and subscribe!
