Well, believe it or not- so many reasons!  The story we are going to begin to embark upon today is one that ties in to, indeed deeply connects with so many other interesting, seemingly outlandish conspiracies that it beggars the imagination.  Stories we have discussed at some length in the past, including such gems as Mel’s Hole, with its Hollow Earth and D.U.M.B.S. connotations, The Maury Island Incident and indeed the entire UFO/Aliens mystery. Beyond topics of our own, we have enduring myths of an ancient, lost, global civilization that may have built many of the megalithic structures we credit today to the Egyptians, The Romans, the ancient Greeks, and more.. We are going to be willingly exposing ourselves to concepts that verge on the heretical here.  Speaking of heretical, our recent episodes on the Nag Hammadi Library, is another possible thread in this same Mud Flood Event / Global Reset Deception- with my reflections on Hidden Histories that challenge the mainstream narrative of the mental picture we are programmed with by modern society and our Public Educations- one of a largely Benevolent, Enlightened, West that, though imperfect in its implementation, nevertheless embodies all the good attributes required to cement it’s hegemony in the near and distant future, because Democracy! In the case of the Nag Hammadi Codices we found in those pages, a much different Jesus than he who is depicted in our King James Bibles- one who had to be hidden away deep in some caves, for thousands of years- if they were ever intended to be found, and shared again..  History, as they say- is written by the victors. Today in 2018, young Schoolchildren are being taught that we fought a just war against Iraq in righteous retaliation for their support of “Radical Islamic Terrorists with WMD’s, or Weapons of Mass Destruction being manufactured in the offending Dictator Saddam Hussein’s Country. 9/11 with its sobering to consider 2975 or so victims, is- to beat that particular Dead Horse a little more- is also widely repeated and reported to be “The worst act of terrorism in history”, in no way acknowledging that the US Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on August 6th and 9th, 1945 were devastation the likes of which truly had never been seen before, and were responsible for a Death Toll of up to 240,000 people, many of whom died after the explosions from the effects of acute radiation poisoning. These numbers in no way account for the health impacts on survivors, and additional exposure to toxic radioactive fallout. Debate this bombing as an “Act of War” all you want- we will have to agree to disagree on that. What’s the point of this little rant?  Just illustrating the fact that, really, outside of weirdos like yours truly and your respective “Conspiracy Theorist Uncles”, God Bless em’- nobody in our polite society is questioning that inaccurate, disingenuous, and downright reductionist version of events, or really anything else. This lack of criticism, this complete unwillingness to examine or to question a pre packaged, shiny, hollywood enshrined fabrication (How many movies glorifying American actions in the Middle East have come out just since 9/11? Black Hawk Down, Seal Team 6, The Hurt Locker, American Sniper, Babel, etc, etc, etc - is in my opinion a major problem for people today. Those movied I just rattled off by the way, were just a few that flew into my head as I sit here typing. I don’t even watch those kind of movies for the most part- though I can’t claim to be innocent of having seen any of them, because it would be almost impossible not to have. What I just described there, is a type of Societal Programming that just seeps into the consumer without them ever realizing how deeply it’s taken hold.  You don’t even have to worry about educating your kids on who the “Enemy” is, because they already know. From a very young age our children today are being taught that terrorists come from the Middle East, they wear a certain style of clothing, they are dark skinned and they are to be feared, for their religion is one of Blood and Holy Wars against all that “The Free World” stands for. Okay, enough ranting, Steve! Tell us about this Mud Flood and what it has to do with Jihadis and the Middle East! FINE, I WILL! Please note that we are just starting to look into this fascinating topic. One place where a lot of the better done research and dot connecting is happening is on the New Earth Youtube Channel, and that Channel and its primary host, Sylvie Ivanova are to be given real credit and recognition for her work and extensive curation of illustrations, documents, maps, and theories concerning this topic and many others related to Megalithic sites around the world, but with a particular focus on Europe and Russia. I can’t recommend checking out the New Earth Channel on Youtube enough.     Evidence of a mud flood event can be found all over the world.  This is most apparent when one begins to look at architecture, and buildings in virtually any larger populated city, where one begins to find building after building of a certain age, that appears to have part or all of its original ground floor story embedded below ground.  Telltale signs of a “Mud Flood Affected” building is windows and partial windows visible at ground level. Sometimes these are bricked over. Other times the windows remain, and are casually described as “Daylight windows” for bringing light into a basement (that itself is only half buried below ground, often on two adjoining sides of the building but not the other two, somewhat reinforcing an impression of a flow of material past a building or area. When excavated at all during renovations, or in preparation for demolition, Mud Flood buildings reveal entire hidden entrances, many of them grander in design, than that seen above for decades.  These are the original street level doors and windows of the buildings. The deposits of material said to have been deposited in many areas exceed three meters or more. That’s 12 or more feet of mud, soil, sand, what have you. Many cities around the world with notable numbers of apparently mud flood affected buildings and towns also have giant historic fires or other natural disasters in their history, with attendant stories about entire swathes of populated areas being wiped out, utterly destroyed, or buried as a result, with the modern city being constructed literally upon the previous city’s ruins. These cities- Seattle, Boston, Oklahoma City, Syracuse, Washington DC, Moscow, Paris, Cairo, and many more- all have well known catacombs, abandoned subways, tunnels, underground cities- indeed whole lost worlds beneath our feet that we know about.  Some small remnants of them can even be toured, under close supervision and on an extremely restricted basis. Proponents of the Mud Flood Event and a deception surrounding the event place it around 150-200 years ago. It is not ruled out, I think that there have been a series of such events throughout history. Historical occurrences that have been linked to a possible Mud Flood include the Tunguska Airburst Meteor Event, and the Volcanic Eruptions at Santorini and Pompeii. I’m not sure if Krakatoa got mixed up in this or not, but it’s possible. It is not clear to me, or as far as I can tell so far, to anyone whether these events are, if real- natural disasters of a random but cataclysmic scale, something nearly as apocalyptic, but cyclical in nature (maybe such events as the reversal of the magnetic poles, solar storms? Total Steve speculation here) St Petersburg Russia (Modern day Moscow), Ancient Greece, Rome, and Italy, The Great Pyramids of Egypt, and more- are all said to have been re-discovered, and physically unearthed- by the people of the times immediately after the posited Mud flood event.  These survivors, it is theorized, determined to take advantage of and indeed credit for- the remaining structures, infrastructure, and riches left behind by what is presumed to have been this Global (Tartar?) Civilization, wiped out either BY the Mud Flood, or events that preceded or followed it, still unknown to us. Were they extincted? Did they leave Earth, or perhaps only the surface of the earth?   The Mud Flood Deception Theory also posits that the former civilization enjoyed a very modern lifestyle, with electricity (of the free Tesla Tower kind), flying machines, and other seemingly high tech conveniences in their lives. These are hinted at in the art and literature of the period.  Much of what is attributed to fancy and fantasy, or early attempts at Science Fiction, may in fact hint at the lost greatness of our former selves, those that lived before the Mud Flood Is the Mud Flood the Biblical Flood that cleansed the earth of all of wicked humanity excpet for God’s chosen family, Noah and Co? ….maaaaaybe (But you have to believe in a young earth for that, which interestingly is a BIG PART of what the supposed deception is about! Calendars are involved. This is “The Missing 1000 Years Myth”, perhaps better known as the Phantom Time Hypothesis, all dressed up by another name here in its Mud Flood Finery- and I love it. From that wiki article, just for fun: “The phantom time hypothesis is a historical conspiracy theory asserted by Heribert Illig. First published in 1991, it hypothesizes a conspiracy by the Holy Roman Emperor Otto III, Pope Sylvester II, and possibly the Byzantine Emperor Constantine VII, to fabricate the Anno Domini dating system retrospectively, in order to place them at the special year of AD 1000, and to rewrite history[1] to legitimize Otto's claim to the Holy Roman Empire. Illig believed that this was achieved through the alteration, misrepresentation and forgery of documentary and physical evidence.[2] According to this scenario, the entire Carolingian period, including the figure of Charlemagne, is a fabrication, with a "phantom time" of 297 years (AD 614–911) added to the Early Middle Ages. The proposal has been universally rejected by mainstream historians.” When researching topics like the Mud Flood, one begins to come across a number of other, equally fascinating side topics, again and again.  These include such episode length introduction worthy things as “Star Forts”, “The Cultural Layer” “Ancient Mound Building Cultures”, Giants, “Great Tartaria”, “Atlantis”, “Hyperborea”, and more.    This theory has entire epochs of civilizations shuffled in time, with the Egyptian Pharoahs living almost contemporary with medieval times, placing them as really ruling as recently as the 1500’s. The Dark Ages?  More or less claptrap, according to the Mud Flooders- a cover story, inaccurately describing hundreds if not thousands of years of miserable mere existence of a human race that had barely crawled out of the caves they had been cowering in during the paleolithic.  These brutes would not create worthwhile art, literature, or life improving advances in technology (we are talking Bronze Age and earlier here) for literal eons. Only in the past two thousand years or so, give or take an anno domini- have all the greatest civilizations of all time been born, risen to power, empire, and one after another, in a stately procession, have in their time declined, been defeated, or otherwise wiped from the planet, only to be seen as ghosts in their far removed modern descendants today. To name some of the most well known, but by no means all, and painting with a very broad brush- The Sumerians, The Macedonians, The Egyptians. The Turks, The Ottomans, The Chinese Emperors, The Ancient Greeks and The Holy Roman Empire, that last of which which some think today lives on in the form of United Nations itself(Tangent to Crazytown, shut up Steve). ALL of these civilizations are thought by the Mud Flood theorists to be built upon the bones of a great, lost, globe (or flat motionless earth- I know, chill, you’re gonna run into some flat earthers here for sure) spanning civilization. The Lost civilization, that some believe to be Great Tartary or Grand Tartaria, long described as a large but sparsely inhabited region that never truly laid claim to nationhood let alone aspirations of “Empire”- that Tartaria and evidence of its incredible, massive importance can be seen everywhere in archaeology and history in the forms of, to name a few that I’ve seen repeated again and again.  There’s more though- like I said I’m still learning about all this: The swastika symbol, The two headed eagle symbol and variations of it, Megalithic Buildings in general, Government buildings, on every continent, that share what we would call Classic Roman Architecture- that of the Megalithic Sized Pillars, Arches, and Domed Rooftops style. Pyramids and Obelisks sometimes make this list. One of the biggest researchers into this that I’ve ran across- I don’t know if Big is the right word but this dude has been doing some clicking and some typing for sure- is a person named Korben Dallas, who is, remarkably- from Seattle (I’m in Seattle if you are new here- so yeah that makes this interesting in that who knows maybe we could even talk to this person sometime) The post that I found of his that seems to launch his whole investigation publicly is this: “Mud flood, dirt rain, and the story of the buried buildings” Let’s have a peek at the post and you can view the whole thing by checking out the link in the show notes above. (Side note: the title of this thread reminded me that this whole thing seemed to me to be potentially, just maybe related in an obscure way to the North American drought/disaster that was the Dust Bowl years in the Great Plains in the 1800’s, brought on by poor crop and field rotation practices, wasn’t it said to have been?) There are, to give you an idea of the number of people interested in this- entire subreddits populated by tens of thousands of members dedicated to this topic. R/Cultural Layer (6.2k Subs) has an absolutely epic resource thread that in itself will take me the next month or more of continuous looking into to begin to plumb the depths of.  Here’s that link as well, and we’ll als have a peek together at the list of articles etc that the OP shares in that Subreddit. https://www.reddit.com/r/CulturalLayer/comments/943n8e/best_of_culturallayer_and_resource_guide_amended/ Again, today, we are just scratching the surface of things.  I’ve got, among other things, the 171 page The Chronology of the Ancient Kingdoms, Amended by Sir Isaac Newton. Spoiler Alert- Old Sir Isaac didn’t agree at all with the dates for history that he was living with, and he went in on it in some detail in that work. There is also an absolutely fascinating, and I’m not being facetious here- report from 1903, 35 pages long, entitled “The great dust-fall of february 1903, and its origin” that actually describes a three year pattern of recurring dust falls culminating in the 1903 event that by that time garnered more attention to itself for having occurred twice before, although the latter event was said to have been the smallest, though still clearly noteworthy and non trivial in its impact on the affected region in Europe.  Estimates reported in the story are that not less than 10 million tons of dust or silt fell across several countries in western Europe. (You ask me that sounds like it might have seemed like a mini dark age itself). These documents and others, along with maps by the hundreds and older images of cities by the thousands, will have me clicking away web and youtube searching for this entire area of Alternative History for months, indeed years to come. Baked and Awake Episode 062 03 December 2018   Intro-Disclaimer-Newsbrief-DGN   Welcome once again to my weekly, self directed psychotherapy session, the Baked and Awake podcast. Today is December 3rd 2018, and this is our 62nd episode of the show.  (Thanks, Disclaimer about pot and where new listeners can find me on DGN, email, etc). Some of my more savvy podcast listeners may have taken note today of an announcement that preceded the show itself- that being a robotic voice informing you that Baked and Awake is now a proud member of the Dark Myths Collective. Please note that this in no way affects our affiliation with our friends and co creators at the Damaged Goods Network! Baked and Awake will continue to support and collaborate with talented friends from Damaged Goods the Show, Daddy Issuez, Needless To Say, and Claytime in the Basement.     Fortunately for Yours truly, my family at DGN supports what I/We do here at Baked and Awake unconditionally, and welcomes the added cache and potential collaborative horsepower that becoming involved with a small but industrious family of high test Creators like the people at Darkmyths.org.     From before I ever pressed record on the first episode of this show, I was listening to several podcasts from the Dark Myths Collective.  I found Dark Myths after about a year of podcast listening, having cut my teeth on Rogan, Carlin, Serial, and a number of other more or less mainstream podcasts. As I listened to more and more shows, and branched out, I found that there existed an entire realm of Independently produced shows that featured compelling voices weaving rich tales, and asking penetrating questions of the sort that I live for.  Here and there, and with increasing frequency- I heard a catchy intro voice. Sometimes robotic, sometimes in faintly sultry feminine tones, that “this podcast is part of the Dark Myths Collective…” and finishing with the somehow inviting, “the darkness awaits”.. Well, I can tell you, I was hooked. From absolute staples of my listening rotation such as The Eastern Border, History on Fire, The Conspirators, and The Secret Transmission Podcast- none of whom I can go without listening to every new episode of the moment they come out- to amazing newer shows like Martyr Made, a history podcast in the finest tradition of Hardcore History.  Speaking of History, there is the extremely well done History of Pirates Podcast, The Chilling and addictive Southern Grimoire, the amazing Strange Matters Podcast, and more. Honestly- I’m barely scratching the surface of a group that is diverse, uniformly excellent, and to a one- “touched by darkness”.   As such, it was my distinct honor to find a favorable response from my closest (indeed ONLY) inside man over at Dark Myths when I recently screwed up my courage to inquire as to how to apply for membership.  Fellow Podcast Builder Kristaps Andrejsons- host of the Extremely High Quality show The Eastern Border (Very entertaining Cold War History from the perspective of an Eastern European Historian), long time member of the Collective, very generously “sponsored” me, facilitating a swift introduction, and ultimately induction to the collective in just a matter of days. As you can probably tell from the time we are spending on this here, and my voice- I was stoked to say the least.  “But, what’s it all mean, Steve? You selling out already? You’re not even popular!”   Easy now! That last shot was a little below the belt don’t you think? We have hundreds, thousands of downloads even!     Here I’ll switch to a listicle format to shorten up my notes, and multiply the number of “Umms” and “ahhh’s” I’ll have to edit out later.  Great fun, that part let me tellya. So- no I’m not selling out.  I own my work and we, together decide the direction that the show will take. DGN and DMC respectively are here to support me/us in our mission, as I in turn support them in the shared goals of growing, through meaningful collaborations both on the mic and behind the scenes. What can you expect?  Also known as “how many “commercials” are you going to have now, Steve?  Ummmm, first, they’re not commercials. Promos for other shows, yes- of course.  That’s how we discover new podcasts, right? I mean, what kind of psychopath actually uses the search function in their fave podcast app for anything other than inputting the name of a podcast someone, somewhere- told you to listen to? That’s what I thought. So, yes- more of that and probably frequently- they will be members of DGN, DMC, and let’s not forget all my friends in the PBL, or Podcast Builders League (Find us on Facebook and Twitter!) As our little Podcast Cabal grows and forms, like Voltron- into a force to be recokoned with, I find myself ever critical of my podcast.  From its overall sound (background buzz, anyone?), to the length of shows, to the depth of research that we do- I’m looking to up the quality across the board.   To that end, I’ll soon be transitioning from a usb Mixer to a Digital Audio Interface, and I hope that I can finally tune out some of the very annoying to me, so I’m sure it must be bothersome to YOU- buzz that I have the hardest time getting away from now, and that causes me to be forced at times to add even more compression or other editing wizardry to the shows than I want to. That, or be forced to constantly mask persistent background noise with music- and as much as I love having the music of our talented friend Antti Luode, (Listen to him on Spotify today!), I sometimes would just as soon sit here quietly and talk with you with nothing between us but the air.. So, that’s most of the personal updates I can think of for now.  Josh Kinkaid is busy pulling in Cannabis Industry field reports for us as we speak here in the local area, and will be venturing into the Great White North next week for a Canadian Event that looks really interesting as well, so we have that to look forward to very soon. What the heck is Push Polling?  We have all heard of political attack ads. These we are very familiar with, regardless of whether you’re of voting age or not- if you still get broadcast television in your home of any sort you will have, sometime during an election cycle like the recent Mid Terms here in the USA, seen some of those.  Radio is another medium where political ads are a big tool for campaigns to shape the opinion and sway the votes of the public. Print is no exception to this by any means and many a full page ad has been taken out in newspapers at the local, state, and even national level over the years to try to affect the outcomes of elections for offices seemingly trivial, on up to the most lofty positions of Governors, Senators, and Presidents.  Then there is Astroturfing, where organizations thought to be self organized, grassroots movements turn out to be either secretly or not so secretly supported financially by “Evil Billionaires bent of running the world”- but that’s a story for another day, and besides a lot of other podcasts cover that all the time. Well, either I had forgotten about this one, or somehow had missed the term itself when this kind of political maneuvering was going on that I somehow hadn’t been tracking on something called “push polling”.  It’s kind of like how it sounds- Someone calls you on the phone, and this may be why right here that I haven’t been watching this space. It’s hard to get me on the phone if you’re some random number, especially if my caller ID thinks you’re a telemarketer or political call, and so I haven’t been caught by a political robo call in years. Now, these Push polls pre date robo callers and automated voice systems that can ask you questions and tell you to use the keypad or your voice to reply, so this isn’t that new, as you’ll come to see. Anyway- you receive a call, and it’s a person, live or sometimes just a voice, and this person or voice wants to ask a few questions.  OK, they’ve got you now, you say- go ahead. Well, as you’ll hear in the following clip, the “questions” you are about to hear may just be more about you hearing and thinking about them, than any answer that you actually give in response to the questions. Crucial things to understand about push polling are that the answers respondents provide are of secondary or even tertiary importance to simply getting a person to sit through what amounts to a truculent “message in a survey suit”. Answers, when given are generally irrelevant, as the poll was designed to implant ideas, not gather information for some public institution. Baked and Awake October 30th 2018 Halloween Special Number Two   A Ghost story by Samuel Longthorne Clemens aka Mark Twain   Disclaimer:  Baked and Awake is a show about weed.  There will be cannabis consumed, and discussed.  Please keep this in mind when listening at work, in public spaces, or at church. What’s that?  Well, I don’t know why you’d be listening in church either- I’m just saying maybe it’s not the best idea even if mass doesn’t start for a little while and you’re bored.  Why are you there early anyway isn’t church at the same time every week? Get your shit together, people.. This Halloween season has settled upon me like a haunting of an old, recently abandoned property on the edge of town.  It’s almost impossible to resist, and at a certain point rather than struggle against it, one does well to simply lean into it, and go with the flow..   In keeping with the spooky vibe that seeped into us during last week’s episode- Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s The Rime of the Ancyent Maryner, Faithful listeners will recall that I narrated the mortifying misadventures of an Old and otherworldly Seaman who, having reaped the grisly consequences of his damnable act- the murder most foul of an innocent albatross, the mascot of his mates no less.  Consequences for the Mariner in the form of the swift demise of the entire crew of the ship upon which he served, only to suffer the eternal agony of re telling the story of his own final, benighted experiences to reluctant audiences forevermore..  For those of you who missed it and are for some crazy reason just arriving now, I say to you, GO BACK!  Go back, and listen to that story first so that you can get yourself in the mood for more epic classic horror, this time brought to you by an even more well known and dearly loved Samuel than our erstwhile Coleridge.  Indeed, our story today was written by none other than Samuel Longthorne Clemens, popularly known around the world by his nom de plume, Mark Twain.   As Mr. Twain is one of the most prolific and widely read authors of his time, enjoying the sort of recognition and general acclaim in society that we often see today in the public’s adoration of Television and Movie Stars of the A list variety. Falling somewhere between a Garrison Keillor and Stephen King in terms of style, Twain's’ most famous works, the Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn are treasured and read to this day, despite what may be, through the fraught lenses of today’s readers’ at times shocking portrayals of both Black Americans themselves, and the White characters in Twain’s novels, only sometimes shown in a reflective light themselves. Personally, my memories of reading these classics has dimmed considerably over the years.  All I remember from them is an odd feeling of unease now and then at the harsh words directed at or dismissive treatment evinced towards Twain’s Black characters like the iconic runaway Slave, Jim.   Though he was on the run for his life, and a criminal in the eyes of many who must have first read the story of Huckleberry Finn, I do remember Jim being strongly humanized, probably in a way that had seldom if ever been attempted before. For that I was profoundly grateful, even as a young boy who had never at that point seriously pondered racism, and where and how I might encounter it throughout my life. I say these things not by way of apology for Mark Twain, for as I did hasten to observe just there- I believe history remembers him as an ally of the oppressed and downtrodden. Children, Runaway slaves, and all.   Today’s tale however, is not one of youthful adventures and the snubbing of authority in the midst of a recently war torn America. Rather, it is one that will in turns provide suspense, a small dose of unease slowly building into profound discomfort for the reader, and abject terror for the protagonist, finally giving way to a bit of levity before allowing us to continue on our way..   Oh.  I almost forgot.  I’ll be reading this story whilst attempting to smoke to it’s conclusion, a hefty and heavily infused “Cross Joint”, which if you have never seen one please allow me to direct you to my instagram account at @Baked_and_Awake, where you can see this creation in all its glory.  Though holy in it’s form, I fully expect and indeed hope to be personally possessed by SOMETHING by the conclusion of this little… experiment. For no one lights a lamp and puts it under a bushel, nor does he put it in a hidden place, but rather he sets it on a lampstand so that everyone who enters and leaves will see its light."   We will end our recitation of The Gospel of Thomas here for the purposes of brevity and because I believe the introduction has been made at this point. I am considering taking the audio from this episode and last, and recording the full text of the book and releasing it at some later point in time as special content, if there appears to be some interest in it.   When considering the impact of the Nag Hammadi Library, it is crucial to have some appreciation for not only how amazing it is that we even have these books at all, but also how much cultural, technological, and even political insight they provide into this incredibly important era of Human history, where and when so much of the world’s core values systems draw their roots back to. I found an erudite summary of the historical gestalt in which we find the Nag Hammadi texts on a website called CatholicIreland.net. We will read an excerpt from that summary of an in depth analysis of the texts in the form of a book called “The Gnostic Discoveries”. The section we will review is focused on Codicology at the Museum of Cairo, for some perspective on the texts physical construction..   Thoughts on the Nag Hammadi after studying for presenting this content:   Books that inspired my desire to share this topic include those listed below among many others. Things I can’t help but observe in reading the first few chapters of The Gospel of Thomas are that this Jesus was not the same in tenor as the “Turn the other cheek, render unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s” Jesus of the canonical bible.  This prophet also seems to speak, when confronted with banal or short sighted queries from his disciples- in riddles or thought puzzles, challenging the audience with his words, to set with them, make meaning out of them based on their own direct experience, before returning to the teacher with more unproductive questions. This exploration barely scratches the surface of the significance of the Nag Hammadi Library however.  Interested listeners will want to explore the incredible trove of resources that is Gnosis.org for their own self driven research into these fascinating and impactful texts.   The Davinci Code by Dan Brown What Jesus Said by H.M.S.
