A new masculinist movement has gone mainstream on the right. The prominent voices in this movement yearn for an earlier time, when men were men and women were women. Sometimes that time seems to be the 1950s, like when Tucker Carlson extols a world where men go to work and women stay at home. But sometimes it goes way farther back. The pastor Doug Wilson advocates household voting, in which men vote for their wives. And Costin Vlad Alamariu, better known as Bronze Age Pervert, harks back to the Bronze Age — specifically the ancient Hittite and Mitanni Empires. Helen Lewis wrote a recent cover story for The Atlantic about this new antifeminist backlash, which she calls “the single most important force holding together the American right.” So I wanted to have her on the show to talk about these ideas, the political program of this movement and how seriously we should take it. Lewis is a staff writer at The Atlantic and the author of “Difficult Women: A History of Feminism in 11 Fights” and “The Genius Myth.” This episode contains strong language. 4-7-26 Tonight we're getting back together with Carlos Herrera, owner and Meadmaker at Texas Longhouse Meadery in Wylie, Texas. Carlos is the owner and mead maker of Texas Longhouse Meadery, where Nordic inspiration and Texas craft meet in the glass. With over two dozen awards and a passion for building community through mead, Carlos is also the President of the Texas Mead Association, working to grow the mead industry and bring more people into the Longhouse. Carlos, an Army Veteran, a Paramedic, and a Diplomatic Security Specialist, started learning how to make mead from an outgoing mentor. After learning the basics from his mentor, Carlos was injured at work and was sent home to recover. While home recovering from multiple surgeries, he set out to improve his new hobby. After many hours reading, researching, and experimenting Carlos fell in love with mead and really started to hone his craft of mead making. Fast forward several years and Carlos was really making waves in his new endeavors by entering many Mead competitions, winning awards, and giving his fellow competing mead makers quality feedback as a BJCP (Beer Judge Certification Program) Certified Mead Judge. The “Longhouse” isn't just an internet meme — it's a metaphor for a cultural shift toward safety, comfort, and control at the expense of strength, conviction, and leadership. In this episode, we explore how Longhouse dynamics shape our society, from politics to the church, and why men abandoning their God-given responsibilities has left a vacuum that's being filled in all the wrong ways. We'll unpack:What the “Longhouse” means and why it mattersHow this cultural framework weakens institutions, families, and churchesWhy recovering biblical masculinity and responsibility is essential for renewal#Longhouse #FaithAndCulture #ChristianPodcast #MasculinityCrisis #CulturalCommentary #BiblicalWorldview #ChristianMen #StandFirm #Apologetics #TruthMatters #CultureWar #BiblicalManhood

Want to reach out to us? Want to leave a comment or review? Want to give us a suggestion or berate Anthony? Send us a text by clicking this link!Is modern Catholicism failing young men? In this raw, unfiltered conversation, we tackle the controversial topic of gynocentric Catholicism and why increasing numbers of young men feel alienated from religious spaces. The catalyst for our discussion was a viral photo of Catholic influencers that sparked debate about representation, masculinity, and the "optics" of Catholic content creation. While we're careful not to attack individuals, we explore the crucial broader conversation: why do many young Catholic men feel that mainstream Catholic content doesn't speak to them?We dive fearlessly into topics often considered taboo in polite Catholic circles: the feminist influences that have seeped into Catholic messaging, the diminishment of male leadership, and the reluctance to address women's responsibilities in marriage while freely discussing men's duties. This imbalance creates a vacuum that figures like Andrew Tate exploit by offering a distorted version of masculine identity. Our guests Josiah and Mike Pantile bring powerful insights about what young men are seeking in authentic Catholic teaching. They highlight the importance of presenting Catholicism as compatible with natural masculine virtues - strength, protection, leadership - while rejecting both toxic masculinity and effeminate Christianity.Perhaps most valuably, we discuss practical solutions: how men can reclaim their role as spiritual leaders in their homes, set appropriate boundaries, mentor younger men, and present a compelling alternative to both secular culture and hyper-traditionalism.This conversation isn't about turning back the clock or diminishing women's dignity. Rather, it's about restoring balance and presenting the fullness of Catholic teaching on gender complementarity in a world desperately seeking authentic models of masculinity and femininity. If you're concerned about the future of faith among young men, this episode offers uncomfortable truths and hopeful pathways forward.Catholic FoundersThe #1 Podcast for Catholic EntreprenuersListen on: Apple Podcasts SpotifySupport the showSponsored by Recusant Cellars, an unapologetically Catholic and pro-life winery from Washington state. This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit www.public.newsPresident Donald Trump's cuts to USAID were cruel, said Democrats and the media. Indeed, they argue, the underlying cause of most of society's problems is lack of empathy. If only we were kinder and gentler with each other, they say, we would finally be able to end poverty, inequality, homelessness, war, and oppression generally. But societies have become vastly kinder and gentler over time. Levels of poverty have declined dramatically in part because we redistribute wealth from the rich to the poor. And racial and sexual minorities experience less oppression and greater freedom today than at any point in recorded history.Of course, more should still be done to enable all humans to flourish. For example, the United States is in the midst of a severe crisis of homelessness, untreated mental illness, and drug addiction. But those problems do not result from a lack of empathy or care. California, for example, has spent $24 billion on homelessness since 2019; it grew 40% in that time period. In fact, the increase in homelessness, addiction, and untreated mental illness is more the result of enabling and even subsidizing them than cracking down on them. That's because being arrested and being mandated rehab or psychiatric care is often the only way that addicts and mentally ill people are able to escape life on the streets.A similar story can be told about many other social problems. Psychologists, including Jonathan Haidt, have found that coddling children results in them being discouraged more easily when they encounter problems. Their challenges continue in schools when teachers allow children to pass classes despite not being able to read.In fact, argues author and publisher Jonathan Keeperman, who I interviewed recently for this podcast, there has been a “remarkable overcorrection of the last two generations toward social norms centering feminine needs and feminine methods for controlling, directing, and modeling behavior. Many from left, right, and center have made note of this shift. In 2010, Hanna Rosin announced ‘The End of Men.' Hillary Clinton made it a slogan of her 2016 campaign: ‘The future is female.' She was correct.”In a viral 2023 essay in First Things, “What is the Longhouse,” Keeperman used the metaphor of the indigenous Longhouse to describe female-dominated and overly feminized institutions.“The most important feature of the Longhouse, and why it makes such a resonant (and controversial) symbol of our current circumstances, is the ubiquitous rule of the Den Mother,” he writes. “As of 2022, women held 52 percent of professional-managerial roles in the U.S.… And because they are overrepresented in professions, such as human resource management (73 percent) and compliance officers (57 percent), that determine workplace behavioral norms, they have an outsized influence on professional culture, which itself has an outsized influence on American culture more generally.”The increase of women in our institutions is not the only reason for the rising power of feminine values in society. Other factors play a key role. One of them is likely the success of civilization itself in reducing violence and obviating the need for traditionally masculine norms. Another factor is the well-intended turn toward values of openness and inclusion after the horrors of the First and Second World Wars.

The pain of miscarriage and infant loss is one that often leaves mom wondering how to process her grief, and sometimes her support network isn't sure what to do or say. Our guest today, Amy Balentine, is a local mom who started the organization You Made Me Mom after the loss of her own children. This online and in person group serves mothers who have lost babies during pregnancy or infancy through one year of breathing life. Amy is passionate about authentic and vulnerable living done in community and that passion is evident in our interview with her today. Meet Amy Balentine Amy Balentine is a wife to Adam and mother to their eight children. Four children are living and four are in heaven. Out of the loss of her children, Amy created the support group called You Made Me Mom headquartered in Kansas City. The group serves mothers who have lost babies during pregnancy or infancy through one year of breathing life. The support group gathers on the third Thursday monthly. Amy is a 2005 graduate of the University of Kansas and currently resides in Kansas City, Missouri and attends Christ Community Church – Brookside Campus. Amy is a lover of hospitality, fine food and a well-organized home which all stem from her nearly ten years as a wedding and event planner before her calling to work in the home as a mom. Authentic, vulnerable living in community with one another is a great passion of Amy's. She is learning that a life lived in eucharisteo (Greek for thanksgiving) is one lived well. What We're Loving In Kansas City Electric Glow at the OP Arboretum Enjoy a low-key version of the Luminary Walk where only the electric lights are on. Rather than just being about avoiding risk, he believes the training strategy should be designed to help employees understand why compliance is critical to business success. So, what's the formula for success? His recipe includes: A one-to-three year vision for your training program Ready data to inform the training roadmap Training customized for roles, including relevant content and a media format that works for them The ability to address emerging issues A commitment to promoting retention Listen in to learn more about how to improve the effectiveness of your training initiatives.
