Luke discusses a recent Christian Nationalist poll that indicated a higher priority of the problem of immigration rather than the sin of abortion, and reacts to a video of Dr. Stephen Wolfe's "In Defense of the Common Good" which Luke believes is more akin to an HOA board meeting rather than a case for a Christian nation.
Send us a text!In this episode, Ben, Eric, and Dan discuss the Longhouse, which Eric discussed in his talk at the recent Right Response conference in Texas. What is the Longhouse? How does it work? We talk about the problem with HR departments, which are run by hysterical women, and how women were so influential in shaping American society. We'll also recap the Trashworld conference and panel, which we talked about at the panel with Stephen Wolfe, Thomas Achord, Joel Webbon, Andrew Isker, and Cjay Engel. There's a lot going on with the New Christian Right, which we'll discuss in this episode. 2025 New Christendom Press Conference: https://www.newchristendompress.com/2025Are you a business owner looking to strengthen your cyber security? Started off offering Christian condolences to @SavagelyAverage and @KenFiveSolas on social media, both of whom lost their wives suddenly. Talked a bit about grieving. Then moved on to the new Pope, Leo XIV, and about how an earlier Leo, the Xth, was important in the Reformation. Then we looked at some comments from Stephen Wolfe, and Joel Webbon (on very different topics, though, somewhat related).
After making a few comments about upcoming events and a statement from Northern End Stands Up, Chris Hume interacts with a few clips from a recent Stephen Wolfe video. Wolfe says that some people (midwits) are committing the “scary term fallacy” in critiquing his position. Chris affirms Wolfe's argument in principle, but contends many Christian nationalists are committing that exact fallacy in attempting to refute theonomic arguments against Wolfe's Christian nationalism.
“Time memorialize place. Embodied memory in places generates a connection between the past, present, and future. Our activity with loved ones elevates sites to place of intergenerational love such that through them we experience these places as deposits of familial affection. A trace of love remains.”– Stephen Wolfe, *The Case for Christian Nationalism*, from the chapter “Loving Your Nation.”In recovering honor for our fathers and a sense of national identity, one of the most important things will be to forge a connection to our past. We often speak of this connection in terms of knowledge, values, and history. It is something objective and measurable. But what if we are bound together to our family, our home, and our country in even deeper ways?Traducianism is a historic Christian belief that has been a minority view throughout church history, although it was held by some notable church fathers like Tertullian and Reformers like Luther. Traducianism is the belief that the souls of children are inherited from their parents, like two candles coming together to light another candle. In this view, parents give not just their genetics to their children, but pass on a unique, personal spiritual component as well. In this way, memories, affections, vitality, and other spiritual qualities are passed down through the families and time, shaping each family and nation into a distinct ethnos with its own unique spiritual properties. Even myths and archetypes that we know so well in the West live on in our deepest memories, their details lost to time but their form continually re-presented in our stories, ideas, and even dreams.Traducianism is a compelling framework that offers a Biblical and enchanted view of the world where families, homes, and history are not merely material matter, but have a spiritual connection to everything that came before and are an essential part of our hope for the future. This episode is brought to you by our premier sponsors, Armored Republic and Reece Fund, as well as our Patreon members and donors. Rich worked hard to work on the audio challenges we have had in the past and the changes made it a lot easier for me to play video clips on the program today. So, we looked at Jeff Durbin's exchange with the Jewish representative in Georgia, and responded to Joel Webbon's criticism of that exchange. Then we looked at some tweets from Stephen Wolfe on sacralism, and finished up playing a few minutes of Jay Dyer bullying a person on line and likewise arguing against the Apostle Paul.

In this second installment of our series on Christian nationalism, host Jared Luttjeboer sits down with Dr. Alan Strange, Interim President of Mid-America Reformed Seminary and Professor of Church History, to examine Doug Wilson's distinctive approach to Christian nationalism.Dr. Strange unpacks Wilson's "theocratic libertarian" vision as presented in his book Mere Christendom, contrasting it with Stephen Wolfe's natural law perspective. The conversation explores how Wilson's theonomic framework leads him to assert that "theocracy is inevitable" while advocating for the elimination of government agencies and the enforcement of biblical law in civil society. The discussion also looks into the controversial Antioch Declaration, Wilson's public stance against anti-Semitic and fascist elements within the broader Christian nationalist movement, and the resulting tensions with younger figures in the movement.

Theology Thursday meets FTMonthly today: We often think of "wokeness" as a term specifically meant to explain leftist takeovers of institutions but what if there was a form of wokeness on the right? Dr. Neil Shenvi stops by to explain what the dissident right is and that, while it my eschew the label of "woke" it carries with it similar strategies and ideas about the world. Neil Shenvi is an author and speaker with PhD in Theoretical Chemistry and has written the books "Why Believe" and "Critical Dilemma" (w/ Pat Sawyer). Neil has spent decades researching, writing and speaking against Critical Theory and the ideology that undergirds it. While he focuses mainly on the critiquing the left he has noticed a troubling trend on the right... is it real? we'll discuss. note: Stephen Wolfe (author of The Case for Christian Nationalism) was invited to discuss with Neil in this episode. A picture of Christ on the cross. Two thieves, one on His left, one on His right. A moment of cosmic significance—God Himself atoning for the sins of the world. And yet, according to Rick Warren, this is also…a metaphor for political moderation? That post, now deleted, tried to argue that Jesus died “in the middle” as a sign that Christians should reject both the Left and the Right in modern politics. But that's not theology—it's a desperate attempt to baptize political fence-sitting. And it's part of a broader trend known as Evangelical Third-Wayism—a concept pushed by figures like Tim Keller and, more recently, Gavin Ortlund. The idea is simple: Christians should neither align with the Right nor the Left, but instead carve out a “distinctly biblical” third way. It sounds noble, even wise. But in practice, it functions as a convenient excuse for coddling progressives while selectively condemning the Right.Stephen Wolfe has called this out as nothing more than “sharpshooting”—strategically engaging with culture to present a morally palatable image to coastal elites while never actually challenging the underlying liberalism that dominates our institutions. He's right. If politics is war by other means, then Third-Wayism is an attempt to negotiate a ceasefire while one side keeps advancing. This episode is brought to you by our premier sponsors, Armored Republic and Reece Fund, as well as our Patreon members and donors. You can join our Patreon at patreon.com/rightresponseministries or you can donate at rightresponseministries.com/donate.At the end of the day, Third-Wayism is not simply a bad take. In this episode, Dr. Alan Strange explores Stephen Wolfe's perspective on Christian nationalism. Dr. Strange examines Wolfe's approach as outlined in his book The Case for Christian Nationalism, explaining how Wolfe draws from 16th and 17th-century theologians while decontextualizing their views for modern application. The discussion looks into the evolving understanding of church-state relations throughout Protestant history, highlighting the critical differences between historical Protestant political theory and Wolfe's modern interpretation, as well as the emerging tensions between Wolfe and other Christian nationalist voices like Doug Wilson.

Caught a few of the amazing stories coming out about how the left has used the US treasury as their own private slush fund, then moved on to a couple of tweets I forgot to cover Tuesday, one from Stephen Wolfe about a biblical theology of climate change, the other from Eric Conn about my desperation and irrelevance. Also covered some of the upcoming stops, and debates, on the next trip (which begins in about ten days).

Went for a jumbo edition today in the big studio with the big board! Commented briefly about the Roman Catholic penitential procession video that made the rounds a few days ago, then we looked at Stephen Wolfe's lengthy tweet about the term "worldview" and how we would be better off abandoning it. Hardly surprising, but I disagreed!
The addition of Catholic speaker Calvin Robinson to the line up at the the Defeating Trashworld Conference in April has stirred up a lot of controversy, and properly so. Stephen Wolfe chimed in today with a tweet about his viewpoint on issues, so we really had to take some time to consider where this is all going, and what it all means. And I got distracted by my Apple Watch a few times. Just saying!

Stephen Wolfe argues that Christians sharing the same location and culture should preserve and build their community. He is the author of The Case For Christian Nationalism, which is a fascinating read, even if you aren't a Christian.Stephen's position is that Christian nationalism is misunderstood and wrongly labelled as racist and bigoted by evangelical elites and woke media, adding that Christian nationalism is not only biblical but essential for countering secularism and strengthening communities.
You have heard it said that we need more modern day Abigails. Supposedly we are in short supply of women with the wisdom and courage to stand up to their husbands on everything from seed oils to the 19th amendment to revoice for Nazis. But if you think that the need of the hour is MORE assertive, scheming, and ultimately disobedient women then you haven't just lost the plot: you've lost the whole book, namely, the Bible. The Biblical authority of the husband in the home is under attack today perhaps more than it has ever been. And if we are going to change the tide we don't need feminism just repackaged with Bible stories: we need a wholesale embrace of God's design for the home ESPECIALLY when dealing with these issues. Started off with noting a fund raiser for Joshua Haymes' little boy (kidney transplant) hoping our audience will pull together and help them over the top. Looked at some odd Jimmy Akin comments about Mary and sinfulness, then talked a bit about Trump's promises and the real, honest mountains he will have to climb to fulfill them, and how unlikely it is Republicans have the backbone to make the hard decisions. Then we started responding to yet another Stephen Wolfe tweet calling me, or at least my views, "moronic." We demonstrate Dr. Wolfe is lacking in theological acumen (how is that for a nice way to put it?). Finished up with some words for the 4th graders who are tossing sand in the air, demanding attention and not allowing sufficient time for an adult, rational, and thorough response from Tobias Riemenschneider.

On today's episode, I respond to a recent video published by Dr. Stephen Wolfe. Wolfe, the author of The Case for Christian Nationalism, critiqued the theonomic perspective, specifically a version of it in which there is no legislative body. While I hold Dr. Wolfe in the highest respect, I wanted to offer a thorough response in defense of theonomy. As Christians, we ought to consider what it means to love our neighbor both as individual believers and as a community. My hope is that this response helps to move the conversation forward in that direction. Here is Dr. Wolfe's entire critique of theonomy: Theonomy vs. Natural LawIf you have any questions or comments, please email me at thegbgpodcast@gmail.com.You can follow also me on Facebook or Twitter, or go to http://www.ericluppold.com/And if you would like to support the show, please consider becoming a patron!

It's been quite the day today (dock workers strike, stock market, Iran attacking Israel), so I pondered a bit about the flood of information that comes at us, now instantly, and how that was not the case only a few decades ago. We talked about the need to form, and practice, a Christian worldview in these very challenging times. Then we switched over to a number of tweets by Stephen Wolfe, including one he "sub-tweeted" at me. Hopefully useful distinctions laid out.

Did an early show today (but still had a large live audience for some reason!) and mainly covered two topics: first, a blog article Phil Johnson wrote 15 years ago that Stephen Wolfe identified as "moronic," and then two LDS topics that illustrate just how much the Mormon Church has changed over the past forty years. Enjoy!
