A lot has changed since Oct 7, 2023 when the Islamic group Hamas in Gaza crossed the border into Israel, executing a barbaric attack, killing about 1200 Israelis (including dozens of Americans) and kidnapping and torturing hundreds more.One might think Israel's military response in Gaza to dismantle Hamas would be widely supported but the opposite occurred. Demonstrations all over the world and alarmingly on American college campuses against Israel and in favor of Hamas and Palestine took place.While the left is almost entirely anti-Israel, many prominent influencers on the right like Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, Nick Fuentes, Marjorie Taylor Green, Megyn Kelly and many, many more have come out loudly against Israel. What is more troubling is the turning against Israel from professing biblical Christians, those who believe things like justification by grace through faith in Christ and other key doctrines. You'll see lots of these Christians on social media, such as pastor Joel Webbon posting things like this:“Israel is not America's Greatest Ally. We started off with a video clip that popped up right before the program of Joel Webbon seriously struggling to answer the question, "Does the Bible say Mary was a Jew?" Yeah, seriously. Then we moved to the Dustin Smith debate and the fact that the little Unitarian group is still working hard on spinning the debate. We played sections from the cross-examination and then dove into the text to examine his replies or his questions, depending. We went long on this one, out to 80 minutes for this edition!

After a brief reminder about upcoming debates and ministry, we listened to a brief video from Dan McClellan claiming there is no monotheism in the Bible, and then we walked through Jeremiah 10 to demonstrate that the great Bible scholar is in rather obvious error. Started to try to get back to the cross-ex in the Hansen/Heschmeyer debate, but saw a tweet about Joel Webbon that caught my eye, so we looked at that instead to finish out the program. Not sure when the next program will be, as I have the final inspection to go through on Thursday on my house project, and who knows when they will get that finished. This bonus episode was orginally an LCI Green Room livestream with Greg Baus from the Reformed Libertarian podcast to talk about how all authority comes from God, but divine, church, and civil authority aren't the same thing—and how Christian nationalism tends to blur those lines. We reacted to a Right Response Ministry video (Joel Webbon and others) that said critics misunderstand Christian nationalism and argued the state isn't religiously neutral. They used the Ten Commandments, Psalm 2 (“kiss the Son”), and Romans 13 to claim rulers should enforce not just laws about harm between neighbors, but also laws against idolatry and false worship. Greg and I pushed back hard, saying they were collapsing divine judgment into civil punishment and never gave a real principle for separating sin from crime, which leads to an unbounded “Christian nanny state.” We also critiqued their handling of Two Kingdoms theology, “general equity,” and what Romans 13 means by “evil.” After that, we listened to a chapel talk by Pastor Matt Cotta, who warned that when Christianity gets used for a political project it turns into a counterfeit faith, and that nationalism becomes an idolatrous rival. He drew a line between nations as people-groups and modern nation-states, argued nation-states enforce unity through coercion, and said the church is Christ's kingdom—pilgrims and exiles—so worship itself witnesses against giving ultimate loyalty to any earthly nation.

His stance is biblically out of bounds and should be addressed by any Bible-believing Christian, especially given his role as a local church pastor.Racism is a hot-button issue that stirs deep emotions, but we must examine it through the lens of Scripture and let God's Word shape our view of this crucial topic. Does God actually teach that marriage should be by tribe and race? Or does the Bible affirm that we are all one in Christ — one body, one man, one woman, one flesh?Let's talk about it.

I did a quick trip update at the start, including a brief discussion of how to get yourself stuck in ice when you are 54 feet long and 13.5 feet tall and weigh 24,000 pounds. But most of the program was a discussion of last night's dialogue with Dr. Yasir Qadhi at the mosque in Flower Mound, what we discussed, and, more importantly, how we approach the task of being a Christian witness to our Muslim friends and neighbors. Then I discussed the slanderous video produced by @onlythus on Instagram, and reposted by @AlexDuncanTX lying about Dr. Qadhi in a very obvious and surface level way, and how this is utterly in opposition to Christian calling and practice. Finally, at the end of the hour, I commented on Joel Webbon's lame response to Doug Wilson and his incessant use of the "victim card."

So on Christmas day Joel Webbon responded to a Christian woman by simply saying "Silence, Jew. It's Christmas." And so began another eruption of the degradation of CNism into just another "it's the Jews" group, with Joel Webbon and Eric Conn leading the parade.
