Main idea: Warnings and laments are both necessary for us to give at times. We must not do only one or the other. We also must receive Christ's warnings and laments where needed in our lives. Jesus's Denunciation (v 29-36) Jesus's Lamentation (v 37-39) You can watch this message here.
Welcome to Day 2449 of Wisdom-Trek. Thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom Day 2449 – A Warning for Skeptics and Sinners – Daily Wisdom Putnam Church Message – 08/18/2024 Anticipation of Christ's Return – A Warning to Skeptics and Sinners- 2 Peter 3:1-7 Last week, we learned to keep your discernment high by Going to your Knees, Going to the Word, and Going to the Wise because Discernment is better caught than taught. We must stay close to those seasoned saints, the proven men and women overflowing with wisdom. Today's passage is 2 Peter 3:1-7, on page 1896 of your Pew Bibles. Because of the complexities of the subject matter, I will read it from the NLT for clarity of flow. 1 This is my second letter to you, dear friends, and in both of them I have tried to stimulate your wholesome thinking and refresh your memory. 2 I want you to remember what the holy prophets said long ago and what our Lord and Savior commanded through your apostles. 3 Most importantly, I want to remind you that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking the truth and following their own desires. 4 They will say, “What happened to the promise that Jesus is coming again? From before the times of our ancestors, everything has remained the same since the world was first created.” 5 They deliberately forget that God made the heavens long ago by the word of his command, and he brought the earth out from the water and surrounded it with water. 6 Then he used the water to destroy the ancient world with a mighty flood. 7 And by the same word, the present heavens and earth have been stored up for fire. They are being kept for the day of judgment, when ungodly people will be destroyed. As the menacing clouds begin to break and Peter's stormy condemnation of false teachers subsides, a beam of light pierces the gloominess. This great apostle decides it's now time to inject a ray of hope into his otherwise frightening portrayal of the future. Though the threat of false teachers is real and imminent, he wants us to lift our eyes beyond the immediate landscape and see the bright horizon that is yet to come. It's important to remember that between the rough period of false prophets and the coming restoration of creation, two unforgettable events intervene. Much of the evangelical teaching during the late 20th century focused on a period of Great Tribulation, by which the present world and all its wickedness will be destroyed,| and then the return of Christ, by which a new era of righteousness will begin. We must be careful not to be too dogmatic about the events preceding Christ's return to earth. The study of the ‘end times' is called escatology, and views can vary widely on what will take place. We know Christ will return to earth at some point, judge those who have rejected Him, and remake the earth into a global Eden as he finalizes the Kingdom of God. Heaven and earth will be joined at that point, our dwelling place for all eternity. This leads to Peter's finale in chapter 3. He further develops the issue of the end times,>which he mentioned several times in the first two chapters. In his final written words to the churches before...
Welcome to Day 2444 of Wisdom-Trek. Thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom Day 2444 – Disobedience Gone to Seed – Daily Wisdom Putnam Church Message – 08/11/2024 Denunciation of False Teachers – Disobedience Gone To Seed - 2 Peter 2:12-22 Last week, we observed that scripture does seem to present two sides of the same God—the attributes of justice, judgment, and wrath on the one side and the attributes of mercy, salvation, and blessing on the other. The side that we are on depends on whether we have accepted God's gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. If you miss any messages, you can watch them online on our FaceBook page or at PutnamChurch.org. Today's passage is 2 Peter 2:12-22, on page 1895 of your Pew Bibles. Because of the complexities of the subject matter, I will read it from the NLT for clarity of flow. 12 These false teachers are like unthinking animals, creatures of instinct, born to be caught and destroyed. They scoff at things they do not understand, and like animals, they will be destroyed. 13 Their destruction is their reward for the harm they have done. They love to indulge in evil pleasures in broad daylight. They are a disgrace and a stain among you. They delight in deception[e] even as they eat with you in your fellowship meals. 14 They commit adultery with their eyes, and their desire for sin is never satisfied. They lure unstable people into sin, and they are well trained in greed. They live under God's curse. 15 They have wandered off the right road and followed the footsteps of Balaam son of Beor,[f] who loved to earn money by doing wrong. 16 But Balaam was stopped from his mad course when his donkey rebuked him with a human voice. 17 These people are as useless as dried-up springs or as mist blown away by the wind. They are doomed to blackest darkness. 18 They brag about themselves with empty, foolish boasting. With an appeal to twisted sexual desires, they lure back into sin those who have barely escaped from a lifestyle of deception. 19 They promise freedom, but they themselves are slaves of sin and corruption. For you are a slave to whatever controls you. 20 And when people escape from the wickedness of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and then get tangled up and enslaved by sin again, they are worse off than before. 21 It would be better if they had never known the way to righteousness than to know it and then reject the command they were given to live a holy life. 22 They prove the truth of this proverb: “A dog returns to its vomit.”[g] And another says, “A...

This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom Day 2439 – The God of Wrath and Rescue – Daily Wisdom Putnam Church Message – 08/04/2024 Denunciation of False Teachers – The God of Wrath and Rescue- 2 Peter 2:4-11 Last week, we learned to be on guard against false teachers by knowing God's Word and taking time to Stop, Look, Listen, and Think about what is being taught compared to God's Word. If you miss any messages, you can watch them online on our FaceBook page or at PutnamChurch.org. Today's passage is 2 Peter 2:4-11, on page 1895 of your Pew Bibles. Because of the complexities of the subject matter, I will read it from the NLT for clarity of flow. 4 For God did not spare even the angels who sinned. He threw them into hell,[a] in gloomy pits of darkness,[b] where they are being held until the day of judgment. 5 And God did not spare the ancient world—except for Noah and the seven others in his family. Noah warned the world of God's righteous judgment. So God protected Noah when he destroyed the world of ungodly people with a vast flood. 6 Later, God condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah and turned them into heaps of ashes. He made them an example of what will happen to ungodly people. 7 But God also rescued Lot out of Sodom because he was a righteous man who was sick of the shameful immorality of the wicked people around him. 8 Yes, Lot was a righteous man who was tormented in his soul by the wickedness he saw and heard day after day. 9 So you see, the Lord knows how to rescue godly people from their trials, even while keeping the wicked under punishment until the day of final judgment. 10 He is especially hard on those who follow their own twisted sexual desire, and who despise authority. These people are proud and arrogant, daring even to scoff at supernatural beings[c] without so much as trembling. 11 But the angels, who are far greater in power and strength, do not dare to bring from the Lord[d] a charge of blasphemy against those supernatural beings. The early church reacted quickly and decisively against heresies in the first and second centuries, but the “problem” of the two sides of God's character still puzzles believers. Like two sides of the same coin (coin), scripture does seem to present two sides of the same God—the attributes of justice, judgment, and wrath on the one side and the attributes of mercy,...
Live from Bilbao! One True Podcast presents our show live from the 20th International Hemingway Conference in Bilbao, Spain. We welcome scholars Stacey Guill and Alberto Lena to explore Hemingway's five stories of the Spanish Civil War. These obscure, under-discussed stories – including “The Denunciation,” “The Butterfly and the Tank,” and “Landscape With Figures” – become coherent and significant as our guests explore their roots in Spanish culture and history as well as Hemingway's own life.We learn about Hemingway's perspective about the war, the way the stories set the groundwork for For Whom the Bell Tolls, his focus on “dignity” in the stories, and the ambiguity of his endings. This conversation will inspire you to visit or revisit these narratives, armed with the context Guill and Lena provide.

The surah makes explicit the relation between morality and the doctrine of the Hereafter effectively and impressively with woes to those who reject Muhammad and deny the judgment-day in ayaat up to 17th. In conclusion, from 29th to the 36th ayat, the believers have been consoled, and the disbelievers warned as if to say: Unbelievers mock at Muslims now but shall be laughed at in turn on the Day of Resurrection.[2] Ayat (verses) 1-6 Denunciation of those who use false weights and measures 7-9 The acts of the wicked are recorded in the book Sajjín 10-18 Woe to those who reject Muhammad and deny the judgment-day 18-21 The acts of the righteous are registered in Illiyún 22-28 The rewards of the righteous in Paradise 29-36 Unbelievers mock at The Believers now, but shall be laughed at in turn [3]

Released on Thanksgiving Day, this episode honors the rights and memories of Native Americans of the United States, Canada and South America. Jessica and Guillame McMartin discuss the significance of the holiday, the history of Native peoples in the Americas and other related topics. In 2021, the New York Times reported that thousands of Native children vanished in Canada. Guillaume reveals more of the history of this human rights abuse and that the children were taken forcibly from in many cases loving homes and raised as white Canadians. Many of these children were abused in various ways and some murdered. There were similar residential school abuses of Native American children in the United States including many deaths. In this episode we discuss: Guillaume's background as a French Canadian with some Scottish heritage who felt a calling to help Native American people and later learned he had Native roots on his father's side of the family; Guillaume's depression after living a life as a firefighter in an environment that involved bullying; What Jessica was taught in school about the history of Thanksgiving; The residential school system and the murdered children in the United States and Canada; What Guillaume learned from talking to native peoples; Guillaume's journey about being closer to nature and some of his roots;Guillaume's efforts to assist native Canadian communities in economic development and how he got in wrong in his view the first time around; Guillaume's work in real estate development in New York and why he left that life; Negative portrayals of native peoples in media; Guillaume's book and his message to the world; Guillaume's plan to go on a journey of exploration on horseback to visit native communities from Canada to Guatemala; The attempts by US and Canadian governments to remedy past abuses; How the near extermination of native populations amounts to a crime against humanity and genocide under the International Convention for the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide which did not come into legal force until later after the Holocaust; Jessica's experience of being trolled online by pro Turkish government genocide deniers trying to usurp the cause of Native Americans for their own political ends; The influence on Guillame of the book "Live In the City of Dirty Water" by Clayton Thomas-Muller a native Cree man who led the charge for environmental justice against big oil intesrests (see link below to the book); The elements of forced assimilation and forced marriage imposed upon native peoples in North America: How non-native peoples and white Americans and Canadians can remedy the harm of the past and try to forge a new path forward. The poet Michael Peterson, whose online post I'm linking to below, writes: "By Spicer's theorem, the poet was not a kind of inspired genius, but rather a "medium" for a psychic, spiritual, poetic message. The poem, in turn, was like a radio which picked up the transmission. This lecture became the stuff of poetry legend, the recording passed from person to person until it was finally made available online almost fifty years later. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. 4 They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people's shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.5 “Everything they do is done for people to see: They make their phylacteries[a] wide and the tassels on their garments long; 6 they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues; 7 they love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to be called ‘Rabbi' by others.8 “But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,' for you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers. 9 And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,' for you have one Father, and he is in heaven. 10 Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one Instructor, the Messiah. 11 The greatest among you will be your servant. 12 For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.Native American Bee Spirit Animal Bee Symbolism & MeaningWhen Bee appears in your life, the most common message it carries has to do with your levels of productivity. New Zealand continues to pledge its support for Ukraine. Kyiv remains on heightened alert as Russian forces close in on all sides. Two large explosions lit up the night sky south of the Ukrainian capital early Sunday morning local time. The action appears to have been around Vasylkiv, which has a large military airfield and multiple fuel tanks. It comes after Ukraine's outgunned forces held the capital for the third day – as battles continue across the country. Deputy Prime Minister Grant Robertson told the Weekend Collective the denunciation of Russia has been worldwide, and clear. “President Putin hasn't shown a great degree of interest in that, but I think what he's meaning in terms of the NATO alliance will certainly be shown in that the global community is rallying around the Ukraine.” LISTEN ABOVE

I. Warning. II. Repentance. III. Hell.
Mahler's Second Symphony begins with the funeral for the hero of his First Symphony. The dramatic music rages with sorrow and anger...but also hope, for life after death.

Luke 20:41-47* Is Jesus David's Son or David's Lord – Last Denunciation of the Pharisees
Fools say in their hearts, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they commit abominable acts; there is no one who does good. God looks down from heaven on humankind to see if there are any who are wise, who seek after God. They have all fallen away, they are all alike perverse; there is no one who does good, no, not one. Have they no knowledge, those evildoers, who eat up my people as they eat bread, and do not call upon God? There they shall be in great terror, in terror such as has not been. For God will scatter the bones of the ungodly; they will be put to shame, for God has rejected them. O that deliverance for Israel would come from Zion! When God restores the fortunes of his people, Jacob will rejoice; Israel will be glad. Psalms 53:1-6 NRSV
Mark 12:38-44* Jesus' Last Denunciation of the Pharisees – The Widow's Mites
Fools say in their hearts, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds; there is no one who does good. The Lord looks down from heaven on humankind to see if there are any who are wise, who seek after God. They have all gone astray, they are all alike perverse; there is no one who does good, no, not one. Have they no knowledge, all the evildoers who eat up my people as they eat bread, and do not call upon the Lord? There they shall be in great terror, for God is with the company of the righteous. You would confound the plans of the poor, but the Lord is their refuge. O that deliverance for Israel would come from Zion! When the Lord restores the fortunes of his people, Jacob will rejoice; Israel will be glad.

In Germany some municipality, e.g. Essen, are openly asking the citizens to denounce other citizens or businesses if they do not comply with corona measurements. Independent of how you stand to „Corona“ this is very sad and dangerous and reminds me on the 1930s! Let is stop this now and remember that fear is NEVER the answer. Only love is! Matthew 23:1-12; Mark 12:38 39; Luke 20:45, 46 As our chronological study of Christ's earthly life continues with the events and sermons of Tuesday of the Passion Week, we come with this lesson and the one to follow (Lesson 129) to His eleventh recorded sermon, "The Denunciation Discourse". Before actually getting to that discourse, the Lord Jesus addressed the multitude assembled around Him, as well as His faithful disciples (scribes and Pharisees were within hearing distance). He spoke serious words of warning about the false religious leaders of His day. There is nothing more directly opposed to the true Gospel than the false teachings of prideful, self-deceived men and women who disguise themselves under the cloak of religion! It is very interesting to learn that the Lord's first public sermon and His last public sermon consist almost entirely of warnings regarding false spiritual teachers!
Matthew 23:13-39; Mark 12:40; Luke 20:47 Matthew chapter 23 contains the last words the Lord Jesus ever spoke in the confines of the Temple walls. They were the harshest words He ever spoke and, not surprisingly, they were directed at the false leaders of Israel who held themselves out to be God's servants when in reality they were deceivers, hypocrites, liars, murderers, and the children of Satan himself. The words Christ spoke in His eleventh recorder sermon are often referred to corporately as "The Denunciation Discourse" or "The Woe Discourse" - because He pronounced seven "woe judgments" on Israel's religious leadership. By way of those pronounced "woes," He was giving seven reasons for the judgment soon to fall on Israel. Her judgment came because the false Pharisaic system of Judaism led the nation to reject her long-awaited Messiah! The outline titles for Christ's "woe judgments" are as follows; He called them hypocrites for: (1) Shutting-up the Kingdom of Heaven, (2) Stealing from Widows, (3) Sending Men to Hell, (4) Swearing for Gain, (5) Straining at Gnats, (6) Scrubbing the Eternals, and (7) Slaying the Righteous.
The party makes their way up to Hlam and are tested by their deepest fears and inner demons. Only time will tell if they have learned what the old monk taught them so they can grow into their full potential. After they make it down they find respite at Renaer's where they discuss how to absolve Vaas of his crimes. However, the next morning the city watch has orders no one saw coming.
Woe to those who squander their lives in pleasure. Especially those who are given so much and do so little with their wealth. It is a great sin to trust in riches and take advantage of others to gain wealth. This sin does not get overlooked by God. He notices. He brings grave judgment on those who abuse others for the sake of personal gain.

In the immediate aftermath of the Chinese Civil War and the seizure of power by the Chinese Communist Party, Mao Zedong began a violent struggle for control of China's countryside. In a bid to develop a rural powerbase for himself and his party, Mao encouraged communities to tear themselves apart in cycles of denunciation and revenge. This lecture contains an analysis of Matthew’s Genealogy. Joshua is the name Jesus in Greek (Ιησους) and Aramaic ( יֵשׁוּעַ ). Jesus is an heir of Abraham and the son of David the king. Matthew’s genealogy firmly fixes Jesus in his heritage and prepares you to read Him as fulfillment of Israel’s hopes. Matthew’s genealogy also prepares you to recognize the way Jesus fulfilled that hope was not a way anyone expected. Matthew’s genealogy contains 14 generations from Abraham to David and from David to the Exile. God is in control and has known what He was doing from the beginning. The Greek (γενεσεως) denotes “the genesis of Jesus Christ”. Consider woman listed in the genealogy - Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, Mary, and Bathsheba. Investigate the structure according to the Five Discourses: Sermon on the Mount, Missionary Discourse, Parables of the Kingdom, Regulations for the Life of the Church, and Denunciation of the Pharisees. Compare with the Books of Moses which contain the Pentateuch of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. Matthew does not see Jesus as a competitor with Moses but presents Jesus as having more authority than Moses. Jesus comes as the one who can authoritatively interpret the Law.

A period of mass repression and terror swept through the Soviet Union between the years of 1936-39. Following the shocking Kirov assassination and show trials of alleged factory saboteurs, paranoia gripped the nation and culminated in the execution and imprisonment of millions of Soviet citizens. The state’s and Stalin’s role in the terror cannot be understated. However, to pin the terror entirely on the state would be incorrect. In Inventing the Enemy: Denunciation and Terror in Stalin’s Russia (Cambridge University Press, 2011), Wendy Z. Goldman writes about the terror as carried out from below. While the support for mass purges came from above, its execution was often carried out by average citizens. As news of domestic enemies dominated the press, workers on factory and textile shop floors increasingly began to see their co-workers as potential enemies, wreckers, spies, and faulty communists. Suspicion, and later formal denunciation of such workers, spiraled out of control. Any slip-up was subject to interpretation as an act against the state. Workers were on their toes as their actions, and even their past, came under intense scrutiny. Despite little-to-no evidence to support suspicions of wrong doing, paranoia prevailed. Dr. Goldman’s research takes us through the historiography of the subject and into the shop floors to show the terror in action which came to dominate worker and family relations. This is a powerful and marvelous addition to Soviet scholarship sure to revolutionize the way historians interpret Soviet power. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The Politics of Denunciation Mumia Abu-Jamal [col. writ. 4/30/08] (c) '08 When was the last time that you saw a politician asked to denounce a religious leader with whom he or she was associated? For generations, we have seen a succession of presidents, from both political parties, under the wing of the Rev. Billy Graham. Historians have recently reported that Graham and his Oval Office acolytes have spoken in racist and xenophobic terms about both Blacks and Jews. The Rev. Graham recently was lionized as the personal spiritual advisor to presidents, in times of stress, pressure, war and peace. Neither he, nor his presidential prayer pals have ever been damned or denounced for profoundly racist speech in the palaces of the powerful. Now, as a Black man begins to climb the greased pole of American political power, he is asked to either defend or denounce a man whom he has known and admired for a generation. Barack Obama opted for the latter. He has all but jettisoned the Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Wright from the close circle to the cold periphery of the political realm. Whence comes this demand for denunciation? If we are honest, it arises from the specter of white fear, that demand of Black people a higher standard than that of their own. For what reason has Jeremiah Wright been jettisoned - if not for his proud, open Blackness? Rev. Wright is an advocate of Black Liberation Theology - a school of Black religious thought that sees the hand of God in the liberation of Black people from bondage. White Americans are so used to hearing Blacks speak with quiet and pacific tones, that when a man expresses himself fully, as did Rev. Wright, they are, quite frankly, frightened. (What do they fear, that Blacks will dare remember?) Through the corporate media talking heads, they demanded that Obama "distance himself" from that scary, Black (uppity?) preacher - and do it fast. Yowza, boss. The politics of denunciation is, ultimately, the politics of betrayal. It asks - no - it demands that the candidate denounce those whom the White Nation opposes. If they don't, then they are presumed to be a supporter of that person, or ideology. Meanwhile, white conservative preachers can say virtually anything, and calls for denunciation are swallowed into silence. Former presidential candidate, and Republican supporter, Rev. Pat Robertson, called for the killing of a foreign head of state! (I speak here of Venezuela's Hugo Chavez.) Did the White House denounce this prominent religious supporter? Not to my knowledge (in fact, it would be rather difficult, given the current regime's failed coup d'etat against him). But Barack, the son of a continental African, cannot be seen calling for Black Liberation; for he seeks not to become leader of the Black Nations, but the world's leading White Nation. Once again, Blacks, and their deep indigenous concerns, are pushed to the periphery. Their free expression ain't free, for there is a cost. When I saw his latest dis' of the Rev. Dr. Wright, I thought of a question posed in the Bible, in the words of Jesus of Nazareth speaking to his disciples (in Matthew 16:26): For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?... What would you do to get a job? --(c) '08 maj [Source: Holy Bible, St. Matthew (King James Version.]
