The Growth Mindset in a Christian Context Paul challenged believers to put effort into their spiritual life. Change is a part of growth and we should desire to be more like Jesus. A Christian is filled with the Holy Spirit who is working to make us like Jesus. Change will happen. The joy is that we can embrace it and benefit from working with God instead of against Him. A growth-minded believer: Welcomes challenges as opportunities for sanctification (James 1:2–4 NKJV). Perseveres under trial, knowing endurance produces spiritual maturity (Romans 5:3–5 NKJV). Seeks feedback and correction, recognizing rebuke refines faith (Proverbs 27:17 NKJV; Proverbs 12:1 NKJV). Celebrates others' growth, rejoicing when fellow believers flourish (Romans 12:15 NKJV). 2. Discipleship and the Great Commission Jesus' charge to “make disciples” frames our growth-oriented calling: “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” —Matthew 28:19–20 (NKJV) A growth mindset fuels the “teaching” phase: we believe learners can grow in knowledge, obedience, and Christ-likeness. It also shapes our own approach, as we accept that our skills in evangelism, teaching, and mentoring improve through practice, prayer, and reliance on God. 3. Spiritual Growth is a Process Scripture depicts growth as a journey: “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” —2 Peter 3:18 (NKJV) “Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection…” —Hebrews 6:1 (NKJV) “I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” —Philippians 3:14 (NKJV) These passages underscore that maturity takes intentional effort—exactly the outworking of a growth mindset in the spiritual realm. 4. The “One Another's” and Growth Mindset Command Scripture (NKJV) Growth-Mindset Connection Love one another John 13:34–35 Encourages perseverance in relationships even when hard. Serve one another Galatians 5:13 Builds humility and stewards gifts for others' growth. Encourage one another 1 Thessalonians 5:11 Puts others first. Admonish one another Colossians 3:16; Romans 15:14 Welcomes correction for mutual sanctification. Bear one another's burdens Galatians 6:2 Cultivates perseverance and compassion. Spur one another on Hebrews 10:24 Motivates toward good deeds and spiritual progress. Pray for one another James 5:16 Invites God's transforming power in growth. Be kind and tenderhearted Ephesians 4:32 Gives mercy to those who need it, we all do! Together, these “one another's” form the relational soil in which a growth mindset flourishes—each believer both a learner and a teacher, giving and receiving grace, correction, encouragement, and accountability. 5. Practical Implications for Disciple Makers Model a growth mindset by sharing your own struggles and progress in Bible study, prayer, or ministry skills. Set incremental goals for disciples (e.g., memorizing Scripture, leading a small group), celebrating small wins to build confidence (Zechariah 4:10 NKJV). Cultivate “one another” rhythms in your church—regular accountability groups, prayer partnerships, and service teams. Teach the biblical process of growth—explain that sanctification involves trials, correction, and perseverance, rooted in passages like James 1:2–4 (NKJV) and Hebrews 12:11 (NKJV). Encourage reflection—have disciples journal progress, confess weaknesses, and plan next steps, reinforcing that effort and dependence on Christ yield transformation.   **(00:00) END PART 1** **(27:00 – 5:00) BEGIN PART 2**   The Holy Spirit reshapes how we think about challenges, our own abilities, and the process of sanctification. 1. Confess Fixed-Mindset Thinking and Renew Your Mind “I can't change,” “I can't do that.” and the like are big hinderances to spiritual growth. Lies need to be brought into the light and exchanged for truth. The question should be, “What is God doing? What does HE want me to do?” God empowers His people for His work. “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…” —Romans 12:2 (NKJV) Practice: Keep a “mindset journal.” When you catch yourself thinking “I'll never grow in this,” write it down and pray: “Lord, show me Your truth here.” Replace it with a Scriptural affirmation (“I can grow by God's grace”—Philippians 4:13). 2. Meditate on God's Word Daily A growth mindset flourishes when immersed in truth. Scripture both reveals God's power to change us and gives the roadmap. Read, Think Deeply about, and put it into practice. “…but his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night.” —Psalm 1:2 (NKJV) Practice: Start with 5–10 minutes each morning reading a short passage (e.g. one chapter of Proverbs or the Gospels). Ask: “What does this teach me about God's promise to strengthen me?” 3. Pray for Wisdom and Perseverance Growth requires divine enablement—both insight and the grit to keep going. “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally…” —James 1:5 (NKJV) “Count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.” —James 1:2–3 (NKJV) Practice: Begin each day by asking God for wisdom to see opportunities for growth and the patience to endure them. When trials come (at work, in relationships, in ministry), thank Him for the refining work He intends. 4. Engage in Christian Community Even if attendance has been spotty, intentional fellowship is vital for encouragement, accountability, and skill development. “And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another…” —Hebrews 10:24–25 (NKJV) “As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.” —Proverbs 27:17 (NKJV) Practice: Commit to attending at least one fellowship gathering (Sunday service, small group, men's/women's Bible study). Ask a mature believer to meet monthly as a “growth partner” for prayer and feedback. 5. Set Small, Measurable Goals for Spiritual Disciplines SMART goals Growth rarely happens overnight. Incremental victories build confidence that God can grow you further. “For who has despised the day of small things?…” —Zechariah 4:10 (NKJV) Practice: Choose one discipline (e.g., Scripture memory, daily prayer journaling, service) and set a tiny goal: memorize one verse a week, pray five minutes daily, serve once a month. Celebrate each completion by recording it in your journal and thanking God. 6. Welcome Correction and Feedback A growth mindset leans into rebuke, knowing it produces maturity. “The ear that hears the rebukes of life Will abide among the wise.” —Proverbs 15:31 (NKJV) “But exhort one another daily, while it is called ‘Today,' lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.” —Hebrews 3:13 (NKJV) Practice: Invite a trusted mentor or friend to give you honest feedback on your spiritual habits. When you receive correction, respond with “Thank you—help me understand how to improve.” 7. Practice Gratitude and Celebrate Others' Growth Focusing on progress—both yours and others'—reinforces a mindset that abilities can expand. “Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.” —Romans 12:15 (NKJV) “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” —1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NKJV) Practice: Keep a “gratitude list” of spiritual wins you see in yourself and others. Send a quick note or text to encourage a fellow believer when they share a breakthrough. 8. Rely on God's Strength in Weakness A growth mindset isn't self-reliance; it's dependence on Christ, who is at work in us. “…when I am weak, then I am strong.” —2 Corinthians 12:10 (NKJV) Practice: In moments of discouragement (“I failed again…”), confess your weakness and ask Christ to work through it. Memorize 2 Corinthians 12:9–10 and speak it aloud whenever you feel stuck.     **(5:00 – 1:00)** Doctrine Today Jesus and His Present Ministry The Holy Spirit's Role in Disciple Making. Dispensational Baptist view of the End Times Understanding Theology is Important The Gospel and Ongoing Disciple Making Church Role in Discerning God's Will Barriers to Disciple Making Spiritual Warfare Jesus – Incarnation God's Sovereignty God's sovereignty means that God reigns over all things with perfect wisdom, power, and love, and nothing in our lives is outside His control. 1. God's Sovereignty Brings Peace in Uncertainty When life feels chaotic or unjust, God's sovereignty assures us that nothing happens apart from His knowledge or plan. “The Lord has established His throne in heaven, And His kingdom rules over all.” —Psalm 103:19 (NKJV) “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” —Romans 8:28 (NKJV) Why it matters: Even suffering and confusion have purpose under God's rule. He's not reacting—He's reigning. 2. God's Sovereignty Fuels Evangelism and Disciple-Making Because God is sovereign over salvation, we can evangelize boldly, knowing He draws hearts to Himself. “All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.” —John 6:37 (NKJV) “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him…” —John 6:44 (NKJV) Why it matters: The results of disciple-making aren't on your shoulders. You sow and water; God gives the increase (1 Corinthians 3:6–7 NKJV). 3. God's Sovereignty Grounds Our Identity and Purpose You are not random. You are created, saved, and called intentionally. “Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them.” —Psalm 139:16 (NKJV) “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” —Ephesians 2:10 (NKJV) Why it matters: Your life, your calling, and even your challenges are part of God's good and sovereign plan. 4. God's Sovereignty Produces Worship and Humility When we recognize God is in control and we are not, we bow in awe and dependence. “Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, The power and the glory, The victory and the majesty; For all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours; Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, And You are exalted as head over all.” —1 Chronicles 29:11 (NKJV) “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. —Isaiah 55:8 (NKJV) Why it matters: Sovereignty reminds us that God is God—and we are not. 5. God's Sovereignty Guarantees His Promises Will Stand We can believe God's Word with full assurance because no power can thwart His will. “Indeed before the day was, I am He; And there is no one who can deliver out of My hand; I work, and who will reverse it?” —Isaiah 43:13 (NKJV) “The counsel of the Lord stands forever, The plans of His heart to all generations.” —Psalm 33:11 (NKJV) Why it matters: Our eternal hope is secure because it rests in God's unshakable rule.   **(1:00)** It's important for all of us to see the big picture in life. God IS working and He WILL complete His work in you. Daily remind yourself that God is drawing you to Himself and He invites you to be an active participant in your spiritual growth. Reject the lie that you can't change. See the person God wants you to be and put real effort into doing your part, trusting that God will always do His part.   – “Thank you for listening today! -If you enjoyed the show you can listen to all the past shows wherever you listen to podcasts. Well hey there and hello again to ya. Welcome back to The Burt (Not Ernie) Show.  Created for You Freebies at JanLBurt.com The Power of God's Will - 40 Days of God's Promises Devotional on Amazon Let's go ahead and get started. God's got good for you, and I am hopeful that this episode will remind you of that, no matter what kind of stuff life is throwing at you today.   You're listening to The Burt (Not Ernie) Show podcast, blessed to be part of the ministry of the Edifi app. That's EDIFI, and you can find it in your app store. And if the show blesses or encourages you, I'd like to formally invite you to subscribe. This is episode number 203. Today I am going to read a bunch of Bible verses to you and let the promises of God sink into your heart and also into your mind (because when the word of God gets into our mind, it literally  changes the way that we think and that, my friend, changes the way that we live). And I encourage you to ask the Holy Spirit to prepare you right now, before I even quote one single verse, to ready you and prepare you to believe His amazing promises to you so that you can live from here on out like they are taking place, being accomplished, in your life. Live like His promises to you are true.   Because they are! God keeps all of His promises so I want to encourage you today to live like you know He is keeping all of His promises to you. To your family. And to His people all over the world.    Okay, so let's dive into God's Word and get some encouraging news in our ears, and into our thoughts, shall we?    First let's start with some powerful and hopeful words that Jesus spoke. I am quoting the NLT for today's podcast & let's look at Mark 12:27 - Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But not with God. Everything is possible with God.”    Okay - this is where we are going to begin. It is so, so important to remember, when we are making the big bold decision to really, truly believe God's promises - to live a believing life - that we don't base our belief on anything other than the Lord. We don't search out something in addition to Him in order to increase our faith. We aren't mustering up more faith by trying to make ourselves have more faith. Rather, we are relying fully on Him. And we are simply deciding that we will believe what the Bible says to us. And so, this verse is just a great reminder that you don't have to make God's promises work out in your life, in your kid's lives, etc. Nope. The pressure isn't on you to make happen what God has promised. But so often we live as if the pressure is on us, somehow, to do what is impossible for us. Only God is God, and only He can keep the promises He makes. Now only you can live by faith, believing God. But you and I have no ability or power to make it happen. We cannot get it done. But what we can get done is choose to believe Him, to take Him at His word, and to abide in Him moment by moment, even while we are expecting to see His promises fulfilled.    There are actually many, many things in this life that are impossible - for mankind. For humans. For wives and for moms and for employees and so on. Humanly speaking, there is gonna be stuff that is just not possible. But not with God! Aren't these words from Jesus incredible?  Think for just a moment about what our Savior is actually saying to us. But not with God. EVERYTHING is possible with God.   So bring God into everything, then! Never intentionally leave Him out of anything. You want the God who turns the impossible into the possible  - you want that God doing all the things in your life, right?    Get a sense of Jesus, today, looking at you intently and reminding you, firmly but with great love and compassion, that it isn't about mankind's ability to make this thing fly. Because  is is God and God alone who makes everything possible.    Psalm 37:23 (NLT) says this - The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.   Okay, this is a great verse! What hope it provides! What assurance! This is quite a promise! He is promising that He will direct your steps. And guess what? You can pray this verse over your loved ones, your co-workers, your spouse, your aging parents, your neighbors. And also, pray this over yourself.    Lord, please do as You have said in Your word and direct my steps. Lord, delight in every detail of my life.   Lord, direct my steps. I know my righteousness and any godliness within me is thanks to Jesus, by the power of the Holy Spirit. So Father, bless me and direct each step that I take. Stop me when I am near a misstep. Thank You for this promise of Your guidance and direction over my life, from now until my last breath.    It says that He delights in every detail of our lives. So guess what that means for us? How does that relate to us living in total belief that God's promises for us are absolutely true and are being realized on the daily? Well, take every little and every big detail of your life to God in prayer. You can do that! You should do that! He cares so much - talk to Him.Talk to Him often. Like, talk to God a lot! All of the time. And remember, and keep on remembering, He delights, not tolerates or endures or notices, but delights in every detail of your life. You are not just barely tolerable. No, to the contrary, you are one in whom God takes great delight.    Oh this is a great promise. And a great prayer verse too. Quick side note here - anybody else feel kind of like we need to ramp up our praying? Just have that sense that we need to spend more time talking to the Lord, time in prayer by ourselves and maybe with others, too.  If you feel that way too, listen to the Lord as to what He is calling you to. And keep track of, write down, memorize, put in your phone verses that you can have at the ready at any moment to pray. That's just a little tip that comes in handy, having some verses saved to a note on your phone so that you can open it and start praying those verses at any time, it can be helpful to have that at hand. And maybe open that note and pray those verses rather than scroll when you have ten minutes to spare. Just a thought!  Praying God's promises is really amazing. Like, this will leave you amazed again and again. So, that's my side note. Just keep seeking to be part of whatever He is doing, where He is moving. And hey, prayer is always always a good thing, is it not?    (And maybe take a look at what it says in Habakkuk 2:3 - that is an awesome verse to start a prayer time with. I encourage you to look it up but I will read it to you from the Amplified right now - For the vision is yet for the appointed (future) time; it hurries toward the goal (or fulfillment); it will not fail. Even though it delays, wati (patiently) for it, because it will certainly come; it will not delay.)  He is always moving, and even when it seems like there is a delay, which there is at times according to the verse I just read from Habakkuk, don't lose heart. Hang your hope on the Lord who always does as He has promised, and don't unhang your hope when the wait gets long.    Okay, so this next verse is one that I think some people might feel like they just cannot seem to fully believe for themselves. Like, this isn't going to be true for me. If you've ever thought like that, let me encourage you. I am hopeful that you and I can today believe this verse for our very own situations.   Deuteronomy 31:6 (NLT) says - So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.   A lot in that verse. First, God says to be strong and courageous and that sentence ends with an exclamation point. Now there weren't exactly punctuation marks in the original Hebrew, right? But the translation into modern English gives us the exclamation point so that we grasp God's meaning in this verse. The punctuation reminds us of the importance - it's to garner our attention, to make sure we're listening and reading what God has said in His word.  So - let's just do what He says to do! Be strong. Be courageous. Exclamation point. I am guessing you have one or more parts of your life right now, at this point in time, where you can apply this. So go ahead and apply it. Be strong. Be courageous. How? By resting in the Lord and knowing that He is going to keep His word.    Don't be afraid. Think on Jesus and the fear dissipates, really it does! Do not panic before them, it says. Well “them” of course refers to their enemies. Don't panic before your enemy.    And here is the reason why you don't need to be afraid, don't panic, but instead be strong and courageous. For the Lord your God WILL PERSONALLY go ahead of you.  This is profound to think about, and yet it is absolutely true.    When God says He WILL do something, He most assuredly will. You just be about the business of believing He will do all He has promised to do. Let Him be about the actual doing of it.    He will personally go ahead of you. How's that for a promise that can give you some big time faith?    And the verse ends with this - He will neither fail you nor abandon you. I'm going to say that once more - He will neither fail you nor abandon you.  He won't. That's that.   I've got a couple more verses to share with you today. And I am believing they are encouraging to you and will have you just believing by the end of this episode. If not, hey, you can listen again. Let that faith grow in you and believe more and more every single day - trust God more than the news, more than fear, more than anything. Right?   Revelation 21:4 (NLT)  - He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying of pain. All these things are gone forever.   This is such a wonderful verse for us. I'm not going to mention anything specific today - but we are living in a very tumultuous era. I'm going to say this about our current season in the history of the world: I believe we are living in the end times, the last days. And I say that based on what the Bible teaches us about how things will look in the end times. Now, many Christians will say that we have fifty or a hundred years until Jesus' return. I don't think that is possible, because it does not make sense based on what the Bible tells us the last days will be like. Let me explain what I mean - we know that in the last days no one will be able to buy or sell unless they take the mark of the beast, the mark on their hand and/or forehead. You've heard this before, I'm pretty sure. You can read about it in Revelation chapter 13, I think verses 16 through 18 specifically. A hundred years ago, was there a way for a mark to be put in your hand or in your forehead that would prevent you from buying or selling? Well, not really. How about fifty years ago? Not really. The answer is, no. It wasn't possible. How about even 25 years ago? Back in 2000? Getting closer, but the tech wasn't quite there.   So here's some food for thought. If fifty, a hundred, or even just twenty five years ago the tech wasn't ready for the mark of the beast to be implemented, and then if we just ponder the last five years or so, the changes in the tech world. It's astounding how much has changed in a handful of years. So, at the pace technology is changing and advancing, and I can tell you in my limited experience with just the podcast industry and social media, it changes so fast, a month ago things were different with some of the apps and things I use. It's quick change after quick change, all day long, right? So how does that work if we have fifty or a hundred years yet to go? Won't the tech outpace the end times at this rate? Like, we cannot fathom what technology will be capable of in fifty or a hundred years. But right now, we can fathom the mark of the beast for buying or selling, and the tech, it would work. We're right on the cusp of this being a possible and plausible reality. Since this is what we were forewarned of by Jesus Himself in the book of Revelation, is it wise to tell ourselves or to preach to others that we've got decades of quote/unquote safe time before it all happens as the Bible says? Or is it far wiser to say, hey, per the words of Jesus, we're just about to this point technology wise. It's coming, and it's not going to be in five or ten decades…because at that point, the tech would have outpaced the very word of God, the prophetic aspects of the end times, and that, we know, cannot and will not happen.    So today, this moment, is the time for you to consider Revelation 21 verse 4. Let me read it once more. Revelation 21:4 (NLT)  - He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying of pain. All these things are gone forever.   This verse is a balm for those who know Jesus. It's key. It's mission critical to remember there is a day coming when all the tears will stop. And that day is nearly here. No more death or sorrow or crying or pain. Gone forever. I don't even need to say more about this verse, this promise from Revelation, except that it is for those who know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. If you don't, you are welcome to email me at JanLBurt@outlook.com and I will reply. It's so important to know Him, not know of Him, not just attend church, but really know Him. Just offering Jesus and how to have Him as your best friend forever.    Last verse today - Luke 1:37 (NLT) For the word of God will never fail.   Short and sweet. Doesn't need explaining. No need for commentary. Just know that this is absolute and unchanging truth.    For the word of the Lord will never fail.   Anybody else need to know that today?   Take that thing, big and scary, and hold it up next to this verse, Luke 1:37. Does one seem bigger and one much smaller?    For the word of the Lord will - never - fail.   It won't. It just flat out will not fail. Never, no never.   Lord bless you today. I have prayed for you, all who listen to this episode, and I am going to continue to pray for you.    Live a life sold out for Jesus, believing all of His promises, and just see what God might do in and through a life lived like that.    Find me via my website JanLBurt.com and grab any one of the free items I've got on the home page-  and I have a book, a devotional, available on Amazon - The Power of God's Will - 40 Days of God's Promises - with verses that have the word “WILL” in them. Thank you. There are many people all around us who suffer in silence. They agonize alone even among families. Those who are believers in Christ are among the many and there are countless scenarios. There are young and old who have been in severe trial from childhood and others who have found themselves in painful scenarios later on in life. Their afflictions produce a heart cry to God that has a certain sound. What seems easy to the rest of Christendom is not their experience. In fact it only ostracizes them greatly. There is something different about these that distinguish those that suffer as believers. Their pain and distress locks them onto the Lord because their severities are like the "irons that entered into Joseph's soul." Job wrestled in prayer to God and with religious, "miserable comforters," who knew nothing at all but condemnation. Job said things that only those who have "gone down to the sides of the pit" can say. Thomas in a violent way said "unless he saw the prints of the nails and put his finger in them, and could thrust his hand into Jesus side, he would not believe." God not only answered Job in array of almighty splendor of His power, He magnificently and doubly restored him. Jesus appeared eight days later especially for Thomas. He stretched forth His hand to show him the scars and said to him, "reach forth thy hand." How beautiful! When you reach forth your hand in prayer, the hand of Jesus Christ will be stretched out to you. You can rely on the King of Love Jesus Christ. He WILL answer you and "shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain." 2 Samuel 23:4. "I note that some whom I greatly love and esteem, who are, in my judgment, among the very choicest of God's people, nevertheless, travel most of the way to heaven by night."~ Charles Spurgeon --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/joanie-stahl/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/joanie-stahl/support

‘…is that a threat?' ‘Hm…' If it was, it was at least a good one— I was scared, at first, upon seeing what I had thought to be perhaps a package robbery—but was actually just a slit through the package—a clean slice, more specifically, through the bubble wrapped [Redacted] package, however, its contents still inside; The package had been left underneath another—which didn't belong to me, and though I had been cornered by security more than once at the [Redacted] market, for putting my nutritional needs above that of my morality—or rather, thought my morlity to exclude guilt from the nessecities, especially as I often pondered upon the elite had kept the lower classes in a devolved state by controlling the price of wellness, so much so that it had become impractical for the common being. I had never even thought to swipe someone else's mail—a personal foul, and at least in turn in that matter to all respect with karma, had never had any packages stolen, either—not that I had lived indoors long enough to have warranted that I was safe from what sometimes seemed like the non-human animals, especially of New York City, who crawled about the lower realms littering and taking up precious time, space, and energy—the almost less-than-common man, but still, actually and unfortunately—common, especially in New York. The Sage sticks and palo santo I had ordered were still intact, entirely— to my surprise, and I wondered what else my package might have included, without remembering such. I had become enfuriated with [Redacted], after realizing that there had been hidden charges and unrecognizable fees, on my credit card, of all the places—the Capital One credit card, with sky high interest rates and robotic customer service drones—who I mostly would hate talking to— and it seemed as though the [Redacted] algorithm had become just as predatory as the rest of them—as uncivilized as the trash-dropping, coughing subhumans that plagued the post-pandemic world, if there was such a thing. The overcrowded mess and overall pollution of the city at whole at best made it still acceptable to wear masks in public, to which I took full advantage of doing, as needed—which was as often as possible, actually, if not to hide the curiosities, and of course, the objections to whatever it would be on the train that sparked distaste—worst yet, I might even smile, and reveal my gap-tooth, only acceptable on Hurley models and Madonna, of course—either of whom I wished I was. It was 3:16 AM, and a long lost song found its way into my head as I fettered the words into the document, multitasking a “modest” breakfast as I mulled over the day, most of which I had spent attempting peace and solitude, neither of which actually even seemed attainable in my 3rd floor “office”, being so careful not to consider anything home or a comfort, for the fear that whatever Death curse someone had thought to m destroy me with once would extend into all the years and all the realms of my presence— it was true, as I explained to my aunt, that the people around me had within the last few years turned into demonic and vampiric advocates of what seemed to be the devil itself, were I even holy enough to be considered sacred in such a way that the devil may be chasing me—and I was, in some ways, but not in others—my ability to aggrandize my judgements and flex my morality where needed, but less when wanted as it stood true that I never actually enjoyed immorality—I hated living in a world where one would be made to steal, and made to lie, in order to survive. But that, for 30 years is where I had lived; in, for the most part, an evil world, ruled by man, as he denied and tortured all things that would be thought to be God—in his thirst for whatever it was that had waged a world of war. It seemed as though someone were sending a message, and it had been years since I had felt safe or comfortable anywhere, anyway—so I thought it best not to care, knowing that all in all, that the intentional hurt and harm done to me by any man, or any entity otherwise, would prove to l invoke the karmic justice law unto itself; that whatever pain I experienced would be amplified by its giver, and reflected back—that anyone who intended to hurt or kill me—would only hurt or kill themselves in doing so. At the very least, I was inspired to continue writing the script which I had drifted from entirely—its contents and its driver too mad to be palpable, however—as sometimes this kind of magic did occur in flashes at random, with vivid visions as if I were watching—or even living inside of the scene itself, spoke volumes that it should—or would, whether I wanted it or not, be written eventually. ‘Man, fuck Jimmy Fallon.' I knew nothing of the man at all besides his name and occupation, and that something had plastered him permanently into my mind with some kind of irreparable cement I could not seem to break lose or free from—and it was going to stay that way. The entirety of the festival project and all I had been prompted to have written had become a massive headache. I have a massive headache. UGH. Perhaps it was more multidimensionally attributed to the fact that I had been fawning over affordable razorblazes—I had been almost salivating at the thought of bleeding from my wrists—a constant pressure from the lack of things I wanted and needed piling up at my doorstep, my overdue bills, and the harrowing and what seemed like *manacle. Hm. A maniacle attack on my sanity, not actually practitioned by my abuser, but probably more likely the government, masquerading as such to plot and plan around various secret expirimentation, which would of course within the century become common knowledge, but as for such time we're simply conspiracies, perhaps to hide the shameful loss which was the war being fought with technology—which the dumbing down and brainwashing of millions had left us at an extreme risk, and those were were not at risk, with extreme bias against that which they had no ability or interest to understand. Unremarkably so, I was still astonished that something did indeed seem to have happened—something that was not in my head at all, but rather, very much outside of it—and it was beginning to occur to me that perhaps others had gained an interest in what indeed seemed to be attacking me, for years, by then, with fear, humiliation, and detriment—to which I could only ever think to fight with white magic; there was a controlled chaos to what seemed like my being at a wits end, which I was, but also wasn't—for the most part, at least in public, I could take even the most outrageous offenses poignantly and tactfully, however sometimes realizing that—in Keisha having left her sunglasses behind, she had also left with them a little bit of Harlem— “Move.” The mindless drone controlled robots often stepped directly into my path, as if being driven by some force which was meant to annoy or some other way terrorize me—however, I had grown accustomed to new York's overall rudeness, and had become almost socially inept..speaking of Just—socially unacceptable. What is this?! Gross. What is this?! Papaya juice. Is this a fucking—?! No it's a v8 My G-Wagon! Nice. Got it painted. What color even is that? It's like— mauve. MOVE. FUCKING-A. Jesus Christ. I cant get no Satiafaftion— The Rolling Stones What's wrong, Saint Jimmy? Luscius? What is it. Precious would like to see you. Oh. The prince Lucius hasn't left his chamber in days—however, as his brother Percius has just returned from war, he quickly emerges from his resting place, an alter of sorts. Damn, I'm getting a headache. I almost never have headaches. It was true, and of course, as I started to write about this prince and his so said brother, Lucius and Perseus, I was reminded once more of Athens, where I had just been however briefly, in a short astral trip of sorts, wandering about in the dreamworld, looking for something or someone in place of my pillow to hold. Did you want to walk to Trader Joe's? I mean, kind of, but no. My muscles were sore and I had just spent some two hours in the gym, not on purpose but quite by accident, though only having run just under two miles, though at least uphill, and spending the rest of the time lifting—I had been bound to mostly beans and rice, and so however was bloated and gassy, quite slow and not as strong, my regular protein just out of reach… Dang. I have so much to fucking so today. I hadn't realized that somehow it was Saturday, although just a couple days before had been a Wednesday that felt like Sunday, and now again time was all out of sorts; it was a “holiday” weekend, and I was without a doubt, drowning in my own having-to-do's, and as such, weekends and days off were entirely not a thing, besides in ways that those bustled around me—and I was sure that some days had been lost, as I was planning to visit the food bank on Friday, but had somehow skipped over the end of the week entirely—somehow, that is, and I was sure sometimes that in skipping days, meditating and fasting about, however intermittently, that time itself shuffled in all the ways I had, between cross dimensions and parallels such as I—I had been hovering somewhere between the 6th and. 10th dimensions, for the most part, and none with having to understand the undoubted shifts in my own perception of time that were bound to happen, as I sprawled across the astral plains looking and searching for a sign that the tragic poverty, restlessness, and lack of peace wound end. Bound to your alter, my dear brother? Aye. So perhaps here there was another unfounded kingdom within the realm of Ascencia—Lucius, a prince, and Percius—seemingly slated the King, and yet I had unreached such a conclusion as to assimilate an entirely factionrd world, as of yet. What did you write last night? Uh…I don't know. Well, let's see Something had shaken me from my almost-sleep, laying sprawled across my bed, in the middle of the mattress, rather than to either side, which was rare; I typically preferred the left side of the mattress, anyway, but as I waited to launder my bedding, after a sweaty and sweltering almost summer day of lounging, smothered in shea butter and lasidasicly scrawling about what recordings had been buried in my phone, between the collection of books I had practically all found in the streets of New York and the rising temperatures of the tepid summer weather, my room was starting to smell funny—and without being able to burn sage anymore, for fear of being thrown back into the streets like a dog, I with every hope in the world figured that washing my thick bedding, comforter included, would restore the crisp and rigid, almost factory clean that I found satisfactory. Songs buzzed in and out of my head as if I hadn't enough already much to do—and still, I added into my growing pile of notes and mounds of work, even more songs—this time, The Rolling Stones. I can't get no Satisfaction… …but I try— —and I try— —and I try— And I try! I can't—get no—! God, I wish I could write something like that. The rock Gods had at the very least been accompanying me, and in a certain sense, so had the Gods at The Rock; I had been forced up out of my dormant state by a voice which urged me away from my near sleep—I had been up since six AM and it was something past midnight, and still the voice said— “Get up and write!” And though I had words tinkering around in my head like little coins in some sort of metal box, none of them quite made so much since that I had to get up and write—however, still the voice, though not angry, but firm, insisted. The voice, for once, sounded female— a welcome change, and though I had become quite fond of males in general, in the solemnly celibate sense, it was a difference and yet none at all— a voice of wisdom had projected itself at me, and as I dragged myself about, reaching for a notebook and flipping through the pages, finding that the notebook was practically full… ‘great, more shit to do' I held the words that had tinkered around in my mind like little whispers until I found a page to make them full formed, and the words which fell into my hand as scriptured by the pen—my favorite writing utensil, nearly out of its cherishable gel ink, danced upon the page nearly on its own, channeling the words written as such: Once prosperous to throw The stone asunder Glisten whispers of water Tears of al tears |ter| Of the altar, For follow for fello, A felon of Antigone Grace, with shield A tattered tail, So flew with feathered Phoenix ? Feared, Foreshadowed not, Agreed upon however, Was the velvet woven path of us, So honored in her fortress . Yeah, something about Rockefeller plaza. Well there were all these hooded figures in like weird, brown velvet robes— That's true, I saw that. Yeah, I was there, You WHAT, Look what I got. Fuck me, man. You know, there's a lot more to this story. I was hoping so, but however also, hoping not. Man, Jimmy fallon's wife is super hot. Gee! Yeah man, she's so cute. W0W. I like her, They're Gods. I think they're Gods. yuh. What else did I write? There was something else? What the fuck is wrong with that guy? Somethin. Yeah. The pages of the notebook were all full, something of a book of shadows and protection spells I had used in an attempt to ward off my ex husband—how of course, that they were done with, I should very well have been jotting them into with all the notes, into the documents—later to burn them, unable to afford the parchment book I wanted. For what a withered wa t would call and honor m for fortunes duty, Glorified wherein in am shadows, Cast upon reflections in redacted incantations and enchantments, foreword come, theone who waits Believing darkness be his fate Whatever, man. Fuck Jimmy Fallon. If you really feel that way! I feel a lot of ways. Well, don't. I'm so, so hungry… So, so lonely… So, so fuckin broke. Man—I learned all this dumb ass magic just to protect myself from this guy, and all this still happens! I think it's just Satan. [Satan Appears] Man— she is JACKED. Try this one. Flllow me, boy! Uh— okay. I'm staying single forever. Don't look at me. That's my girl. Don't look at me. What the fuck. Stop looking at her: Don't look at me! Men are hopeless. Fuck dude, like, the worst thing imaginable is that this Jimmy Fallon dude actually hates me so much for this— What? Uh oh. And is so fucking powerful. He is. A very, very powerful. Well, what is it! Well hey there! Hello to ya and welcome to this episode of The Burt (Not Ernie) Show, where we talk about God's promises and apply them to our lives. God's promises are all true, and they are true for you if you are a follower of Jesus. Isn't that great news?!? I'll go ahead and answer my own question: yes, it is most certainly great news. I'm speaking at the Vibrant Home Life Summit & I hope you'll join me (it's online!) You're listening to The Burt (Not Ernie) Show, part of the Spark Network, now playing in the Edifi app. Today's episode is sponsored by Mr. Pen , and I've put a link in the show notes. I love pens, journaling, and the like…and I love Mr Pen products. I also love their heart to support IJM and take a stand against human trafficking. So check them out, follow them on the gram, and be part of something more than just buying a new Bible highlighter. And one more important thing I want to share with you today - I'm honored to be speaking at the upcoming Vibrant Home Life Summit. Are you feeling overwhelmed by the secular culture that seems to surround us at every turn? Do you find yourself struggling to maintain your faith and uphold your Christian values in a world that often feels hostile to them? If so, I want you to know that you're not alone.   In the midst of the chaos and confusion of the secular world, there is a beacon of hope shining brightly: the Vibrant Home Life Summit. This transformative event, taking place from April 29 to May 3, 2024, is designed to breathe new life into your faith and equip you with the tools you need to thrive as a Christian family. I'd love to have you join me for this summit, which is an online event, and find a whole ton of encouragement. The link is right in the show notes, and I'll be sending out some emails about the summit and sharing on social media and am going to have a special bonus episode of the podcast to hit on some issues that are facing us as disciples of Jesus in this day and age, so be sure to keep an eye out for that and I'll be hitting this subject hard in that episode, number 179, because you and I are living in this exact time for such a time as this, and in order to live well we need one another, we need to be shored up and encouraged and reminded that we're not alone, far from it, in this culture war and war on our families. I'm looking forward to that episode, and to have you join me at this summit, which is so needed right now.  We're taking a look at some promises God's given us in the book of Isaiah today, and this is episode number 178. Episode mentioned for reference - Episode 38 - Isaiah 40:31 & Psalm 103:5 (A Molting Season...) | The Burt (Not Ernie) Show (podbean.com) Isaiah is a book that is packed full of warnings, prophecies, encouragement and promises. It's a book that you can, and probably should, study with a long-haul perspective. It is anything but lifeless! And it isn't something to glaze over quickly. And so, here we are taking a second look at the promises in Isaiah because it's not really a book of the Bible that can be fully addressed in one short podcast episode. Or in a dozen episodes, honestly. I cannot possibly do this book justice. I just can't. I won't even come close. But I can share several promises from Isaiah that will encourage you, no matter what your life may look like today, or what it may look like in a few months or a few years (and I do think we are entering a phase of history that will leave all of us living lives that look very different in the next several years as compared to how  they look right now… as I've said before, keep your eyes on Israel and pay close attention to what's happening there… some upcoming events are going to take place that could very well be the next steps toward the prophecy we read about in Daniel and the explanation, if you will, that Paul shared in 2 Thessalonians… and while that isn't the express focus of this episode, it is noteworthy. Because if we don't have any real idea of what's happening over there in the Middle East, in Israel specifically, that could be because our news isn't telling us some of the things taking place that pertain to the Bible being fulfilled exactly as it's written, and not all of us have our social media feeds curated so that our feeds keep us somewhat up to date of what's going on. And what's going on has to do with Iran readying to attack Israel, now per it's old school Bible name, Iran is the same as Persia. It's a wild time to be alive, for us as Christians, so let's keep loving people well, and we do that better when we know what time it is on the Kingdom calendar and realize that our priorities can easily get all out of whack when we think it's a different time than it really is. If things are heating up in Israel, which they have been the last six months, then we know it's a ramp up time. Gotta know the Bible and gotta keep our eyes on Israel and gotta love people now better than we ever have before, because that's our job as disciples, to go and tell. Let's allow the words from Isaiah to spur us on toward love and good deeds, and I don't mean platitudes and somewhere over the rainbow, but actual love that moves us to love others. Christ love compels me, wrote Paul. But what about us? Does Christ's love compel Jan? Do you find yourself compelled by Christ's love?   So it says in Isaiah chapter 8, verse 13 AMP - It is the LORD of hosts whom you are to regard as holy and awesome. He shall be your (source of) fear. He shall be your (source of) dread (not man). Verse 14a - Then He shall be a sanctuary (a sacred, indestructible shelter for those who fear and trust Him);    What you fear rules the direction of your life and the attitude of your heart.  I think you likely already know that, but it's worth the reminder. Because  we are living in uncertain times, lots going on every single day, we are in an era when the next news story doesn't even shock us because it's been so much for so long. I've seen surveys of younger people who all seem to agree that since 2020, they feel like their life has sort of been on hold, in some kind of a pause, and they feel lost and somewhat depressed and I don't think that only applies to the younger generation. It's sort of true for all of us, isn't it? So the hope we find here, to fear the Lord, to let Him be our only source of dread, that takes the fear out of everything else. But we have to be reminded about this, at least I do. Fear Him, He is to be your only source of dread. Not man. And then He will be a sanctuary and an indestructible shelter for those who fear and trust Him.   Here's a big promise, whopper sized, for us from Isaiah Chapter 30, verse 21, still in the AMP Your ears WILL hear a word behind you, “This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right or to the left.   If you need some guidance (and who among us doesn't at one point or another?) or clarity, direction, which choice do I make, which way do I go, what do I do? This verse holds the hope and the promise that we are in need of.  I say this often, although I haven't said it on the podcast in a while, but when one of God's promises says “WILL”, He means it! Let me read that aloud to you once more. Your ears WILL hear a word, or a voice, behind you saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right or to the left. WILL! He is going to give you a word of guidance when you are weighing your options, do I go right, do I go left…but here's the thing, we have to walk in it. He will say, “This is the way,” but He won't take those steps for us and He won't force us to walk in those ways. He will tell us, Go this way, take a left, not that way, this way is the way to go…and He expects us to do as He directs us to do and to walk in the way He leads us. If you will do that, not all the second guessing and the what iffing, but will just say, yup, He directed me and it's a left turn here at this junction, so I am going left, if you walk in it, then you'll be living in the fullness of this promised blessing. To be able to know that you have the guidance and direction from the voice and word of God for all the days of your life in every decision, to be able to know the way to go, the route to travel, the path to take, the turn to make…this is a huge promise. Don't miss out on this! Take full advantage of this one! And believe that God says will because He means it. He WILL do this for you. But you need to walk in the way He directs you to go.    Isaiah 40:29 AMP He gives strength to the weary, and to him who has no might He increases power.    Now this one, it's for me. It might also be for you today, but I can tell you without a doubt, it is for me right now. I am somewhat weary from health problems. In all honesty, I am super weary. I'm tired of discomfort, I'm tired of the cough that is either due to the heart failure diagnosis or due to my busted thyroid or due to both. I am weary of the pain due to a large number of uterine fibroids. I don't like the constant feeling of needing to catch my breath. I don't like coughing and people wondering if I am contagious (I'm not, it's just due to my heart). I'm tired of hypothyroidism. I'm tired of not knowing if it will be a good day or a not so good day, energy wise. I'm weary of feeling like I ought to enjoy my life more and live better. I'm tired of gained weight (again, thyroid and heart problems…like if you see me and want to know what happened, well, Google heart failure and you'll know!)  And so, a verse like this one is for me. He promises to give strength to the weary. That's me! And to him, or her, who has not might He increases power. I have no might on my own! For a fact, there is no might I muster up to do anything. If it gets done, it's all because God gave me power to do it. Now that's true for all of us, but in my case, I am just a lot more aware of it on a daily basis.    Isaiah 40 verse 29 is a verse I need, and so I opt to believe that God will keep His word, keep His promise, and I pray for that to be my reality.  Yes, I pray for healing. And I also pray for power and strength while I keep praying for healing.  I hope you do that, too, for whatever need you have, whatever your current station in life might be.    Isaiah 40:31 AMP But those who wait for the LORD (who expect, look for, and hope in Him) will gain new strength and renew their power; They will lift up their wings (and rise up close to God) like eagles (rising toward the sun}; They will run and not become weary, they will walk and not grow tired.    Ah, what a verse! We have to wait for the Lord in order for this promise to be fulfilled for us - but we wait with expectancy, we wait in hope, knowing that our hope will not be disappointed! We look for Him, watching and searching for Him to show up in our circumstances. Active waiting is a real thing, and in the Kingdom of God, it's the only way to wait well!   When He shows us, we gain new strength (I've talked about this on the podcast way back in 2019, I think it was, and it is amazing how the eagle transforms after a molting season - it is hands down one of my favorite episodes of this show and I'll add the link here in the show notes). Renewed power. New strength. All because we wait for Him expectantly and with hope.  We'll rise up close to God like an eagle rising toward the sun.  We will run and not become weary and to this I say, Yes, Lord! Do as You have said! And they will walk and not grow tired. You know, last fall I took a trip that involved a lot of walking and I began to see with a new set of eyes more clearly what my health was like, sort of how bad it had gotten, because walking several miles did some revealing of things in my health that I had kind of not really clued in to.  And I'm glad for that experience! But also, I'm praying that it will come to an end, in this life and not merely the next one, and I'll have healing and be free from the hindrances that I did not used to deal with and would like to not deal with now.  What about you? I've shared a lot about how these passages from Isaiah spur me on, emboldened me as I pray, and give me tremendous hope as I wait for God to fulfill them for me. Do they do the same for you?  Are you more free, more excited, more hopeful, after reading God's promises?  Do you rise up with new energy and strength because God, via His living word, has supernaturally done a work in your heart and mind and inner being?  I don't want to only talk about my health struggles. I want to use those as a real life example that will hopefully encourage you that God's promises are for you, remind you that He is for you, you are never alone, and all His promises to you will not fail because He will not fail.   Not only are you loved, but you are so loved. Not only are you favored, but you are highly favored. And not only are these promises for all God's people, but they are also just for you.    There are some more promises in the book of Isaiah that might encourage you, and I'm going to put together a pdf download for you that has a list of promises from the Amplified Bible. I don't know that it will be linked in this episodes show notes, but I will get it linked in the next episode for sure and will also share it on social media and on my website, which is my name, JanLBurt dot com.   God's gonna keep these promises, to me and to you. Believe Him for it! And honor Him by waiting with great hope and expectation!   Thanks so much for listening, and I'll see you back here next time. Bye bye!

If you are getting your prenatal care from a traditional practice, it is almost a guarantee that you will be offered an induction, or worse, scared into thinking you need an induction when it's not really true.  This episode will look at 3 of the most common "reasons" (read: lies) that obstetricians or medwives use to scare you into thinking you need an induction so that you can be prepared to stand up for yourself and your birth plan instead of giving in to letting them control the timing of your birth.  Remember, God put your baby in your belly and He WILL bring your baby out in HIS time.   Helpful Links:   HOW TO WORK WITH LORI:   --> Sign up HERE for the Your Birth, God's Way Online Christian Childbirth Course! Sometimes we need a word of encouragement and a reminder that even though you may not yet see the manifestation of the promise of God, He WILL do what He said.   The bible admonishes us to be patient after we have done the Will of God so that we might obtain the promise.  This program continues where the previous one left off… All we need is the memory of a past Victory to propel us to our next Victory – It Won't Be Long Now!

Becoming BeYOUtiful YOU Part 7 - Goodness “…when the Holy Spirit controls our lives, He will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control…” Galatians 5:22,23 NLT “Every GOOD and perfect gift is from above, coming from the Father” James 1:17 NIV To Live a BeYOUtiful Life, I NEED GOD'S HELP! First, THE PROOF of the Christian life is in the Fruit If (that is the conditional part) we let Him control our lives, HE WILL (that is the promise) produce the life in us that we have been created to live. This is an EXPECTATION for followers of Jesus Christ “A healthy tree produces good fruit, and an unhealthy tree produces bad fruit. A good tree can't produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can't produce good fruit. So every tree that does not produce good fruit is chopped down and thrown into the fire. Yes, the way to identify a tree or a person is by the kind of fruit that is produced. “Not all people who sound religious are really godly. They may refer to me as ‘Lord,' but they still won't enter the Kingdom of Heaven. The decisive issue is whether they obey my Father in heaven.” Matthew 7:18-21 NLT Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins.” James 4:17 NIV THERE ARE TWO FUNDAMENTAL PROBLEMS WHENEVER WE CALL SOMEONE A “GOOD” PERSON- Here's part of the problem: We Judge Goodness By the Wrong Standard Here's the Other Part of the Problem: No one is good! “There is no one righteous…” Romans 3:10 NIV “All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags…” Isaiah 64:6 NIV “The Lord is good and does what is right” Psalm 25:8 NLT “Taste and see that the Lord is good” Psalm 34:8 NLT “For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation” Psalm 100:5 NLT We can't conclude that we just need a “little help” Luke 18:9-14 The Pharisee and the Tax Collector Jesus did not come to earth and die on a cross just to make good people better. “…I no longer count on my own goodness…but I trust God to save me” Philippians 3:9 NLT “For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.” 2 Corinthians 5:21 NLT We don't go to heaven because we are good, but because God is good. God's Good Fruit In You Matters- Because It Multiplies… “As we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” Galatians 6:10 NIV It Attracts People Toward Christ- “He was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith, and a great number of people were brought to the Lord” Acts 11:24 NIV It Overcomes Evil- “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good” Romans 12:21 NIV

I want to share something with you that I have not only learned from experience … BUT also re-learned due to disobedience: by NOT obeying the directions of God.   We are living during the Entrance of the EndTimes. More and more demonic activities are being manifested: in government, in the arts, in religion, and in media. Just look backwards for three years!   Due to the sudden shift in the spiritual climate I am directed by God to warn you to make sure you use FAITH and PRAYER in your decision making. Also, to be sure of the decisions you are making: short and long term. Do NOT open yourself to demonic activity, oppression, or the results of making a decision which could subject you to attacks on your body, mind, spirit, relationships or your finances. Stay under the Anointing of God's Spirit … follow your heart as God leads you.   In this teaching I am going to share with you several ways you can find deliverance IF you have made a BAD decision and also HOW to make the RIGHT decision by listening to God and following your heart. ________________________________________ IF YOU'RE NOT SURE … THEN DON'TKNOW FOR SURE If you're NOT sure ... then don't! Do NOT make rash decisions. This is one of the greatest lessons I have learned in life. Stay in the "peace" zone!!! When you feel pressured to do something ... if you do NOT have peace about it―WAIT―do NOT go forward. It is better to be at peace―to stay in the "peace zone" rather than to go ahead―even if it looks good! This can be a trick of the enemy to get you in bondage and mental duress. Pray about the situation. Do NOT let people, even friends, coerce you or persuade you to take action IF you do NOT have peace about the situation. I promised God one time that I would never do anything, or take action concerning anything, that I was NOT sure about. If I had a question about the situation, or if I did NOT have peace, I promised God that I would NOT go forward. The reason I made this promise to God was that I got into a very difficult, and emotionally trying situation, as a result of a FAST―or, rash―decision that I made. Lots of times people are emotionally distressed because of such uncertain behavior: going ahead of God! For help with depression, study my teaching, "Healing Mental Disease and Depression." Nothing can bind you if you will follow your heart and listen to God. I am going to tell you WHAT to do if you are bound and have lost peace―that is, you have become emotionally disturbed―as a result of “going ahead of God.” First, PROMISE God that you will NEVER do anything again unless you have peace about it. That is, you will make NO rash decisions.God loves you, my friend, and He does NOT want you bound by unwise decisions and actions. He paid the GREATEST price―the gift of His Son, Messiah Yeshua―that you could be FREE! Second, ASK God to turn the situation around and smite Satan through it, and give you a BLESSING in spite of what you have done. Ask God for mercy. Read Micah Chapter 7, verses 7 thru 10 in the Tanakh (the Hebrew Old Testament). Third, give a GIFT to God. As a result of God turning this situation around, and for His mercy and kindness in restoring you, promise God AHEAD OF TIME that you will give him a certain, specific gift ... or that you will take a certain, specific action of love and/or sacrifice as a GIFT to Him. Fourth, THANK God ahead of time―and every day―for His deliverance that He is going to show you. He WILL show Himself strong in your behalf IF YOU are sincere. I trust this teaching will help you, my friend. I learned the SECRET I have shared with you the HARD WAY. And through the years, I have seen the manifold mercies of God as a result of what He taught me―even through my RASH decisions―even decisions that looked good, or that other people thought were good, but that I did NOT have peace about when I made them. Yes, stay in “the zone” where you experience continual freedom: the “peace zone.” Once there, stay there ... don't let anyone or anything get you out of the zone. And if you need some help with direction, here are some scriptures for you: Psalm 27:11 Jeremiah 42:3 I Kings 19:9-12 Isaiah 30:21 Now in additon I want you to learn HOW to follow your heart for those times when you NEED to make a decision BUT would like more assurance from God or His Holy Wordl Follow Your Heart - Part 1 Follow Your Heart - Part 2 Follow Your Heart - Part 3 Decision Making 101 I trust this teaching will help you, my friend. TRANSCRIPT  http://peternavarro.substack.com The Republican Party must immediately unite around Donald J. Trump as its presidential candidate.  Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel must voluntarily pass the torch of leadership to a new RNC Chair capable of running a competent campaign in 2024.  Absent these two mid-course corrections, the Republican Party will squander a platinum opportunity to take back both the White House and Congress from a Democrat Party destroying everything Main Street America holds dear. Trump has an insurmountable lead in the polls and a rock-solid base no other candidate can shake.  He WILL be the nominee. As we saw last week, there is no one left on the debate stage either capable of being president or likely to be Trump's VP choice.  The Pillsbury Doughboy of Venom Chris Christie has self-immolated as spoiler hit man.  Loudmouth Ramaswamy is, at best, a Deputy Cabinet appointee.  As for Nikki Haley, yond lean and hungry Cassius has bitten the Trump hand that fed her so many times that she will have NO place in a Trump administration (other than perhaps as ambassador to Botswana).  Ron DeSanctimonious blew his VP chance not just when he swung for Trump's head.  Shrinking Ron has little national appeal to justify a place on the Trump ticket. What, then, is the purpose of continuing with a contested primary season that serves only to drain political funds from the General Election?  Why have a debate schedule that allows the Keebler Elf candidates to throw mud at Trump as they make fools of themselves?  In fact, we saw a similar movie and mud fest in 2020 with all of the usual suspects now hanging around the 2024 fringes.  These Never-Trumpers range from the Koch network's dark money and Rupert Murdoch's propagandist Fox to the Romney-McConnell-Ryan-Noonan RINO sappers and nasty PAC men like George Conway and John Bolton.  In 2020, their dark money and negative ads and attacks most certainly shaved points off the final Trump tally in what was a highly contested race.   And let's not forget the 2020 fragging of Trump from the likes of endless warmongers like George W. Bush, Mad Dog Mattis, and the late Colin Powell, and the passive-aggressive shots at Trump by Mitch McConnell in a Senate that has become nothing short of a Uniparty RINO embarrassment.  As splintered as the Democrat Party is supposed to be, their leaders and big donors wouldn't be doing anything like what the Republican Party is doing.  Now, it's either “here we go again” and the Republican Party hands over an eminently winnable election to the Democrat Party of economic mayhem, open borders, and foreign policy chaos.  Alternatively, it can unite around “The Donald” as the only clear path to victory in 2024. Even if Trump quickly becomes the presumptive nominee, there still is the matter of a Republican National Committee.  As last week's election once again demonstrated, the RNC fat cats know far better how to hold plush fundraisers at posh resorts than win down and dirty elections against a brass-knuckled, grassroots Democrat Party willing to lie, cheat, and lawfare its way to victory. Here's several obvious post-election takeaways.  First, the RNC must develop a far better ground game behind them.  It's not just about getting folks to vote early.  It's also about getting more folks to the polls.  Second, if the RNC allows the Democrat Party to turn the 2024 presidential and congressional races into a referendum on social issues, particularly abortion, Republicans will lose in RECORD numbers.  Just how many times do Republican strategists and leadership have to make this same stupid mistake?  Obama did social issued the feckless Mitt Romney in 2008 when Romney was all but a lock to win on economic issues and Communist China raid on our factories.  Obama did it again to the clueless and ever-cranky, now dear departed John McCain in 2012.  And what about that 2022 Republican tsunami that was supposed to result in a record House victory?  It never materialized for all manner of RNC-induced reasons, not the least of which was a failure to properly message on the abortion issue. Dukakis had it right with his Greek proverb that the fish rots from the head down.  The RNC is a rotten political machine sputtering on every single cylinder, and its head, Ronna McDaniel, must hold her own self accountable for last week's carnage.  So, Ronna, end the debates, endorse Trump, and then step aside so we can, in the words of the immortal Al Davis, “win, baby, win.”  I'm Peter Navarro, and thanks for listening.  Be sure and check out my substatck at peternavarro.substack. com  That's peternavarro.substack.com.  And it will help me get the word out if you write up a review of this podcast.  I'd love to know what you think. It's not just “my opinion” that playing close to the edge of occult involvement is a trap and a lure. It's my very deep conviction after having a full on and horrifying experience when we were young and first married. Steve and I had watched a James Bond 007 show earlier that evening called "Live and Let Die", with a lot of “harmless” voodoo, (incantations and curses being put on people) and "fun" spies disturbing graves, and dark evil spirits attacking them. While we were watching, I had a very quiet but persistent warning inside my heart to “stop watching the show”. I blew it off saying to myself that, “I could handle it…  It was just a show… harmless entertainment.” After we had gone to bed and had fallen asleep, I was awakened by a loud crashing sound outside of our bedroom door, which was our living room. I turned my head to look in that direction and standing in the door frame was a hunched over, very tall, long haired, naked from waist up, long armed, pig snouted with a brass ring pierced through it, hairy being. I thought I was maybe dreaming so I shook my head and rubbed my eyes to see if I was just coming out of a bad dream. Nope. The dark being was still there. My body was paralyzed in fear and I could not move to wake Steve. I spoke to the hideous creature and told it to leave in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus Christ. It just laughed at me and began to move into the room and alongside the bed, heading towards me. I said the same words again and it laughed, saying, "YOU invited me into your home tonight! I have every right to be here!" I immediately knew that I had rejected the warning of The Holy Spirit to not watch the show. I was crying in terror and said, “Jesus… Please forgive me for ignoring your warning! I repent and apologize for blowing you off!” At that point, the demonic thing stopped at the foot of the bed and was very agitated. I was no longer paralyzed with fear and then spoke to it again, telling it that I was forgiven by Jesus and that in HIS NAME, the evil being had to leave our home. It still stood there frustrated and I told it again that the power of Christ and His poured out blood on the cross for my sins cried out against this attack and that it must leave. It started to whimper and walked towards the wall and then, walked right through it, and left. Immediately, Steve woke up and asked what was the crashing sound! I told him everything that happened. He got up and went out to the living room. On the floor was a weather station type of decoration that we had firmly screwed into our wall. It had “somehow” ripped itself off the wall, jumped 8 inches and onto our record player, (yes…. we had vinyls!) sending the needle across the worship record we played often every day. Both Steve And I Knew At That Point That We Could Never Again Justify Or Blow Off The Warning From The Father About Our Entertainment Choices.   We were called to be worshippers and to not ever allow a strongman from hell into our home. Here Are Some Reasons The Scriptures Warn Against Engaging In Any Form Of The Occult: ➡ We are opening ourselves up to spirits other than God's. ➡ We are not looking to God for guidance, but to the occult. ➡ We are turning away from true faith in Jesus. ➡ We are disobeying God's word, the Bible.   The Israelites often made the same mistake and turned from God, although God clearly warned them about this. “When you enter the land The LORD your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or who consults the dead.
Anyone who does these things is detestable to The LORD, and because of these detestable practices The LORD your God will drive out those nations before you. You must be blameless before The LORD your God.
The nations you will dispossess listen to those who practice sorcery or divination. But as for you, The LORD your God has not permitted you to do so,” Deuteronomy 18:9-14.   Saul, Israel's first king, started out well. He expelled mediums and spiritualists from the land, then violated God's word and his own conscience by consulting a medium (1 Samuel 28:3-25). His end was tragic (1 Samuel 31:1-6).   New Testament Christians turned from sorcery. We really need to let their example serve as an inspiration and a warning. “Many of those who believed now came and openly confessed their evil deeds. A number who had practiced sorcery brought their scrolls together and burned them publicly. When they calculated the value of the scrolls, the total came to fifty thousand drachmas. In this way the word of The LORD spread widely and grew in power.” Acts 19:18-20.   These verses are given to us as warnings. God wants us to learn from the examples he gives in the Bible, and to avoid making the same mistakes. He loves us and wants us to turn from anything that will get between us and the safe spiritual life that he offers. Bible verses warning about mediums and spiritualists: “Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritualists, for you will be defiled by them. I AM The LORD your God,” Leviticus 19:31. “I will set my face against the person who turns to mediums and spiritualists to prostitute himself by following them, and I will cut him off from his people,” Leviticus 20:6. “When men tell you to consult mediums and spiritualists, who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their God? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living?” Isaiah 8:19.   So these are the things, these are the scriptures that the Lord has given us, the warnings are there, and also the consequences! I can tell you that ever since then, I have been fully aware of when there's something on television or when people want to watch a movie or, there's people beginning to talk on a New Age level of intellectualism. Or, they talk about some of the things they're partaking in for “medical practices”, or, different kinds of exercise programs, my first thought is, “If it has to have something to do with the occult or if it has to have something to do with “freeing your mind” so that you can relax and so your body is at peace”. These are the lures that the enemy uses to draw us into other gods, and some Christian individuals actually say, “Oh, we're not worshiping the god, we're just doing things with the name of the Lord on it.” The Lord doesn't put his name on anything occult, and he never will, because he is The Sovereign, Ultimate Strength, THE  Sovereign Ultimate King, and he is The Voice that speaks to his people. The word talks about those that know the voice of the Lord, the sheep, they know his voice, but the voice of strangers they will not follow, SO, I encourage you that during this time in the Earth, when the occult practices are literally overwhelming schools, college campuses, exercise regimes, television, movies, videos, (the Super Bowl was packed with these for years) to not engage! Many of the performing artists that are considered “popular musicians” have sold their souls to demonic activity in order to become wealthy. This is how it works many times, you make a pact with the devil for fame fortune and greatness, but there's always a price to pay and that is that you are captive, held captive, and many times these people can't get out without a tremendous amount of threat against them.   I'm Now Going To Lead You In A Prayer. I feel in my spirit that the reason I was to put this on this podcast is that there are some of you who have been saying, “I need to know if this is really bad for me or if I'm being ridiculous, and being too stringent or too rigid”. Let me tell you something. You can never be too rigid against Satanic involvement in your life and you can never be too stringent against saying, “is there anything that I am opening the door to in my home that can affect my children's sleep, affect my health, affect the safety of our home,” because our homes are to be a place of peace for the presence of God, a sanctuary for God to reside on a more personal level. The word says, “don't you know you're a temple of the Holy Spirit?”  When Jesus comes into our spirit, when the spirit of God comes to dwell inside of us after we surrender and we say, “Take that part of my life and use it”, that part dictates from the inside out. But, if we let our mind get in there and say, “I can handle it! I can handle it! It's not that big of a deal! I feel so good! It's good entertainment.  My body feels great when I engage in meditation!” (What kind of meditation?)  Why do you need to meditate on something that is not bringing the presence of God closer to you, and you, closer to the presence of God?  Because our flesh doesn't want to be convicted. Our flesh does not like the discipline of getting still, or studying the word of God, or resting in his presence, and worshiping him. Not unless we discipline it and train it, and grow in his word so we see the gratitude of how, IT is, the voice that controls and speaks to our spirit, causing us to be at peace and to war against the things of darkness. We live in high-pressure times, and the warfare, (yes, it is warfare), it is demonic war against God‘s people, and, the number one thing is fear, anxiety, stress, worry, and then, just go ahead and escape for a little while.  Watch something on TV. The Flesh says, “Go ahead! Watch some of those movies on Netflix that have some horror scenes or a lot of heavy sex. You can handle it! The "F word" is being used a lot, and now many other words have become commonplace. But you see the thing is, WE CAN'T, handle it! Because it gets into our brains, it gets into our minds. It gets into our way of thinking, and it dulls our ability to hear the clear and clean pure words of the Lord. If you don't want to walk with Jesus, 100% and you want a lukewarm walk, then you're going to be susceptible to demonic activity in your life, and unfortunately if you have children, you're opening the door to them, and the Lord talks in that one scripture about not letting children pass through the fire.   We Are Not To Offer Our Children Up In Sacrifice To Demonic Activity, And Yet A Lot Of Parents Go Ahead And Sacrifice Their Kids To A Lot Of Occult Practices Because “It's Hard To Be Different”.   You don't have to have to be locking the doors, and turning the light bulbs out all the time for fear that the devil is coming to get you! But! I can tell you this! You do want to shut your door to occult practices and the doors that come through your iPads, your computers, and your television screens. These are the places; these are the entry points that the enemy uses. Those out there preparing programming, the majority of them in the world are all geared towards doing satanic and fearful programming and if anything, they like to do “shock value” enticing types of programs to bring stimuli and fear! That's how they get better listeners or viewers or people chatting and talking! But their goal is not to bring goodness or peace or safety. Their goal is to get you to come back and be addicted to more or “fascinated”.   This is where that word “fascination” and “magical” comes in.  We just feel like we're mesmerized and drawn in, and we kind of want to know how it works. We want to know how it ends! And then before you know it, your mind has been seared, your conscience has been compromised. Then enters the guilt and then the shame, and then the hiding, and guess who did that? When Adam and Eve engaged with the snake in the garden, he trapped them and lured them, and said, “It's not that big of a deal! You can handle it! Did God really say that to you?”But once they tasted of evil, they were forever changed. They were forever changed and lost their innocence, and forever change mankind. Imagine how much that sin nature is affecting us! Thank goodness that Jesus came to wash us clean and poured out his life, and endured a horrible sacrifice for us, so that we would have a chance to have our minds cleaned. If we are introducing our children to it, imagine the torment, and the things passing down to them.    I encourage you now to pray with me, and if it's not for you, If you don't have this problem, but you're saying, “I agree I've had experiences like this or I know what you're talking about!” If you have family members maybe you have children, if you have a spouse, if you have grandchildren that are engaging in specific kinds of occultic things, (and friends you know with a lot of the PlayStation games and different kinds of Xbox games), there's a tremendous amount of demonic looking creatures and a lot of darkness in those games and yeah, I guess, “you can handle it”, but if you're murdering and killing and having guns shooting and bloodlust all the time, eventually, is it a just a game? Has it become a conquering or have you become desensitized? SO! I ENCOURAGE YOU TO RETHINK WHERE YOUR COMMITMENT TO THE LORD IS.   Do you want to hear the voice of the Lord? Do you want to hear the Lord speaking clearly about the times about the days? Do you want to hear him protecting you, telling you to get in the car and leave now, or “don't go to the grocery store” or “don't go down “that” street”?  He WILL lead you like that and protect you!   Do you want the Lord to tell you his secrets? Did you know that he tells them to his servants? But! He tells them to those that will spend time in his presence, seeking his voice, seeking to know him more.  I encourage you to consider, "which tastes better". The presence of God, and hearing his voice, or a temporary high and excitement, or the thrill that wears off, and then you're buried in guilt, or harassed by something dark?   I'm just going to pray now. I'm going to ask you just to pray with me or agree with me in prayer for those that you know need to be free. Heavenly Father, we come to you and Father you say that you roam the Earth to and fro, with your eyes you are looking all over the Earth, searching for those who will serve you, searching for those who will obey you.  Lord you know all things, you see all things, and you hear all things. You are aware of the assignments of darkness against our families, against our children, against our grandchildren, against our spouses, against our brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles. Father, we stand before you now individually and ask you for a clean heart. We ask you to wipe the slate clean of anything that we may have engaged in. First of all we say we've sinned against you because it's the truth.  If we've done these things we have done them against you. We have put our eyes upon idols or things at the world calls, current and exciting and we think that we're just fitting in, as a part of it or maybe it seems like it's not harmless. It looks like everybody else is doing fine. Lord, l you know the condition of each man's heart, and Lord you know those that are using this as a lure, so Father, we stand before you, and we ask that you would create in us a clean heart, and renew a right spirit within us. Don't cast us away from your presence! Lord, we don't want your Holy Spirit taken from us, because we choose to listen to other evil spirits are divining spirits! Now Lord, we say to you, we ask if there's anything in our lives, anything in the lives of our families that they are engaging in or things that we have become accustomed to, that you would show us clearly and concisely, vividly, the things that we have put our hand to that are not from you. Lord, we repent, we apologize. We are ashamed that we would allow even the whisper of a demonic subtlety to enter into our home. We want to be the stewards, good stewards of what you've given us in children, in our spouses and our grandchildren. So we ask that you would put a barrier between us and the darkness, that conviction would rise up again, that we would heed your voice, and not the voice of a stranger! Lord your word says whether we turn to the left or turn to the right, there you are right behind as a voice saying, “This is the way, walk in it”. Lord, forgive us for thinking that we don't want to be different or strange in this world, that we don't want to be ridiculed. Father we are a peculiar people as you said, you made us and fashioned us to stand out in the dark world, and when we gave our lives to you, we committed that you would be Lord, Savior, King, Ruler, Master over our lives, and we apologize to you for ever touching anything that gave others mastery over us. Now Father, we just come before you, and ask you to wash us clean. Wash our children, wash our grandchildren clean, wash our families clean. Lord, we apologize and ask that now you would make the rudder of our ship turn back out to the direction where we seek you, and seek you alone. That the entertainment choices that we make in the future will be with wisdom and if there's something on television that is dark or dirty, or evil or suggestive, we turn it off, we don't just mute it. We turn it off. We will not let our eyes even watch, nor let our ears hear.  Father. We thank you that you will speak loudly, “Don't do that! Stop now!”  Just like you did to me. Father, we ask that you would speak loud and clear, because sometimes we're dull of hearing. Lord we submit to you, we glorify your name. We thank you, that you deliver us completely and you set us free when we're captive to dark things. We call upon the name of Jesus Christ who is God, who is the Son of God, the Sovereign king, and we thank you that the Holy Spirit is there to convict us of our sins. We thank you Triune being Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, for the privilege of being called children of God. Lord, teach us to act like children of God, in our every day lives, in Jesus most holy and powerful name against darkness. Amen. I'm so glad you're here today because it could mean we are a lot alike in that we struggle with letting go of guilt and shame. It does the heart good, or at least it does my heart good to know that I'm not the only one struggling with this. I wanted to share this sweet reminder, that the Lord gave me. I love when the truth of what I know about God sinks in a little bit deeper into my heart. In this case it broke off some pride I had about forgiveness and not the forgiveness we typically think of first, that of forgiving others. This was about forgiving myself. I almost want to ask you to listen to this episode at a time when things are quiet and you're in a personal space so that you can actively respond to what a share but I know that everyone has a very busy life and therefore that's a hard request. Whether you listen now or whether you use my suggestion later to process with God, I'm hoping to create an opportunity for you to hear God's voice because I'm thinking you're like me in that you already know the truth of God's forgiveness and yet we still beat ourself up with guilt and shame. This proves there is some value in digging a little deeper, or simply lingering a little longer with focused concentration to discover freedom when it comes to forgiving ourself. Again, the quiet space is not mandatory because I was driving down the road when God spoke into my spirit. The sweetness of the Lord had me in tears. I don't want anything to happen to you should you be driving. Maybe pull over if the love of the Lord comes over you like it did me. What I have to share today will keep pointing us back to the cross, something you may feel is a bit overdone. Not overdone with the reverence we have for the cross but possibly overdone with regard to how familiar you are with the message of the cross. Stay with me please because I can't get to where I want to take us without going to the cross. And to be honest, as Christians it is always about the cross. It is the core of our faith. It's what makes our faith different. The fact that we have a relationship with the Living God. An alive, active, engaged relationship. We can know our God and hear His voice. There is the potential that some parts of what I'm going to delve into might feel a little abrasive because when God revealed my pride to me in the context of forgiving myself I hadn't thought of it as pride. Additionally, I'm well aware that when people get too close to the things that we are sensitive about it feels judgmental but when God exposes us He does it in love and He's inviting us into deeper relationship, where trust (in Him) is matured. I want this message to be done in love so that is why I'll be pointing you to God to have your conversation with Him. I want Him to reveal what He wants to set you free from. My goal is not to add condemnation to this conversation. That is satan's speciality. God convicts but He never condemns, two different things. I want this conversation to be done in the same gentle, kind way that God did it for me. He didn't call me out to embarrass me. He gently exposed my pride in order to set me free from it. It's times like that when He takes us back to the cross, not to harm us, but to heal us. I'm going to prompt you with an exercise and it's based on the times when the devil tries to drag us back to a place that reminds us of our shame, guilt and regret. I've worked through a lot of childhood trauma. I think everybody's pretty clear on the fact that our family of origin sets the pace for our adult life and so it impacts our decisions. Those experiences help craft the lens through which we see people and the world. We make a lot of assumptions because our experiences do not have a full understanding so now we're dealing with lies we believe, and it all creates the value system we live by. Because no family, no person, no relationship is perfect and sinless, this gives satan plenty of opportunity to try and take us back to painful memories or experiences. We can all find ourselves in these familiar places of thinking defeating thoughts because satan has his successful patterns that he runs on us. It will always be his goal to to steal the truth of God's word, because in truth there is freedom. Satan wants to kill our hope, faith, love, our relationships and at the very least destroy us from the inside out. In times when a situation activates one of our coping skills or in any way that we've created a self protection method, let it be an instant signal for us that God wants to engage our heart about what we're feeling. He'd love to hear your heart and be given the opportunity to speak His truth into whatever it is we're believing to be true. In moments like that, meet Him at the cross. The place where He won the full victory over all of life's failures and brokenness. The things that primarily cause us guilt and shame are structured around something that we've done, that we're responsible for. Our actions, our decisions, and our choices have brought us shame and regret. If we've repented for our sins then we can have assurance that we're forgiven (because of the cross) and yet we play the shameful memory of our actions over and over in our mind and in our heart. It's in this context of forgiven yet unable to let go that I want to create an opportunity for you to take a fresh look at the cross and reconsider something about God's heart for you. And real quick allow me to take a detour because I don't want to overlook this aspect of guilt and shame. With regard to feeling shame or guilt, I'm not referring to times when someone has violated/victimized you. If you're living with guilt and shame because you feel that what happened to you is somehow your fault, this message does not apply to your situation. I'll be talking about choices that we make and are solely responsible. If you find yourself dealing with guilt and shame over something someone did to you, there is a measure of trauma healing that needs to take place because you're not responsible for the actions of another person. In short, you can't own another person's choices. While you are not responsible for what happened to you, if there is any responsibility to be had on your part it would taking responsibility to flip the script on satan. Make every effort to find the healing you need. Make life giving decisions to get what you need and don't stop until you are free. Just so I don't drop you off cold in the middle of this episode, if you have a few minutes, disengage from your immediate To Do List and recline in the Lord, rest with Him. Just receive from Him. If you want to engage God, ask Him, Lord what step do you want me to take next so that I can process the guilt and shame I feel? Who do I need to talk to in order to find healing from these thoughts that are eating away at me on the inside. Also, I will put links in the show notes for a few past episodes and in a couple of weeks there is another one coming out on October 20th. These episodes all take a look at the various healing ministries available to believers. My guest Eileen Love and I talked about Emotion Code Healing - it was broken into 2 parts (Part 1 & Part 2). There's an episode on the Deliverance Ministry Healing with Karen King. Additionally, the episode on October 20th is on the Healing Prayer ministry with Frank Meadows. So remember to come back on or after the 20th to find that one. Coming back to our topic at hand, overcoming the guilt and shame that is based on our decisions and choices. Specifically the situation where we've repented for our sins but we are not able to forgive ourselves. Here's a suggestion, my intended exercise on how to engage the Lord: Find a place where you can be real with God. Intentionally invite him into your space, ask him to protect the conversation that you'll be having with him. He'll command His army to position themselves in the atmosphere so that you can say whatever is on your heart. God is going to protect your vulnerability. He never asks for a perfect conversation, He asks for a genuine one. Once you've intentionally invited God into your space and He has secured the atmosphere I want you to bring to the forefront of your mind the thing that taunts you with guilt and shame. Expose it by speaking it out loud to the Lord. Father, every time this thing (tell him what the thing is not because He doesn't know but He will only work on what you're willing to give Him. He will not force anything from you or on you). Father, every time this comes to mind I block it out. I feel disgusted…whatever it is you feel, think, believe etc., talk to God. Today could possibly be the first time that you've actually verbalized it. Maybe your shame and regret keeps you from talking about that thing that has left your heart battered and ragged, and exhausted. But you think about it. Your internal dialog beats you up over it when it surfaces. Maybe you've been talking with God about it but you keep returning to it, like you're still chained to it. Feeling like you have no control over it, no voice about it, no freedom from it? You just feel helpless to change it or make a difference. You did what you did or maybe you didn't do what you should have done. You said what you said or maybe you said nothing and you feel that you should have said something. Now you're left with the emotional baggage, potentially physical ailments not to mention the mental battle. The good news? All that has the potential to change if you're willing to be transparent with the Lord in the safety of the space He's protecting you in. Remember in Genesis 32 when God asked Jacob, “What is your name?” It was not that God didn't know Jacob's name but Jacob had a lot of trauma attached to his name. In Biblical times, a person's name was part of their identity. Jacob's name means deceiver and Jacob lived up to that. As a matter of fact, the reason Jacob is struggling with God in this verse is because he was getting ready to cross paths with his twin brother Esau and Jacob was responsible for not only stealing Esau's birth right but Jacob also stole the final blessing from their father that rightfully belonged to Esau. Jacob initially reaches out to Esau in an attempt to make peace with his brother. In response, he receives word that Esau is headed his way with 400 hundred of his men in tow. So now Jacob has come to God scared to death for his life and God asks Him, What is your name? It might seem like a strange question in such a desperate situation. God wasn't trying to shame Jacob. God was inviting Jacob into transparency, to be truthful with him. But why, you might ask? Because change only happens when we expose our fear, guilt, and shame. But not to just anyone but rather expose it to the One who defeated it. The One who can make a difference, the One who can turn it of your good. Guilt and shame left in the dark, bouncing off our heart and our mind, it only becomes bigger and bigger in our mind and emotions. I can't say this enough, when God calls us out of the dark places of our mind, he's not trying to expose us for the purpose of embarrassment or to beat us down reminding us who the Almighty God is. Without authentic transparency we can't connect to people. We'll have a surface relationship at best. And let me just say here, not everyone is trustworthy with our pain so you should guard you heart in this area. But the God of the Holy Bible wants real, life giving, life breathing relationship with us. We can't change what we don't acknowledge. Change only happens when we expose our fears to the origin of truth, the fountain head of truth. Nothing stands against God's truth. Because God will not push Himself on us, He was inviting Jacob into deeper relationship. He was saying, son, will you get real with me about what you're feeling/experiencing? Will you have the courage to expose your fear to me so that the thing you keep struggling with, that thing you keep running from, we can put on the table and we can talk about it and we can work through it together? And Jesus says to us, my precious daughter, will you give that thing to me? Will you trust me with your pain? Daughter, do you believe that I love you and I have good things to give you in exchange for your nightmares? When we take our pain to God and struggle well to discover His truths in the context of our deep questions He gives us the beauty of His presence and we are transformed by the revelation that accompanies His presence. Truth shows up every time God shows up and we don't have to wait for the spirit to move we can invite Him in and initiate an intimate exchange. God honors our authentic struggle because He knows that it takes courage to be transparent with Him, to step beyond our human understanding and experiences and accept His invitation into intimacy. So you've invited God into your space, and He has taken authority over the atmosphere, you've brought that thing into the Light of His presence and you're letting anxiety flow out of your mouth. As you verbally process this brings a measure of release to your mind and body. The next thing I want you to do is picture God with you. See His kind and caring manner. Maybe He's holding your hands, looking into your eyes with gentle affection. Maybe He's sitting at the table with you. I can guarantee you this, if he's sitting at the table with you He's sitting next to you and He's got His arm around you. In the safety and security of God, continue to purge your pain as long as you need to. Let Him know how you feel. What is your worst fear, your worst nightmare about that thing? Tell Him why you feel guilt and shame, or whatever emotion you feel. If you want, ask Him to show you where He was when this or that happened? He's never left you so He was present. He's not afraid of anything you share. You won't scare Him off. He won't reject you. This space of transparency and pain all tangled together in what can feel like a terrifying mess, this is His speciality and I'll tell you why. He doesn't extravagantly attend to us knowing that He WILL heal us, He's drawing us into the healing He's ALREADY provided. When we expose our fear and pain to him, healing and restoration begins not because a spontaneous healing happened in that He's decided to now alleviate your guilt in that moment. But because you pursued Him in this context, it was engaged and therefore applied in that moment. It was already purchased on the cross you just hadn't made it personal yet. Whatever you admit, confess or reveal, all the emotion, regret, shame, it doesn't have to be pretty, or nice or even godly. Real pain, deep pain is messy. After you've poured it all out and you've come to the end of yourself, I want you to hear your Father God's voice. He's calm, soft spoken, loving. He's saying, my precious precious daughter, I'll take that, and I'll take that, and that too and give me that one. Give it all to me. Let it go. I've already settled these things. Let me show you. Let Jesus lead you to the cross. Envision Christ scooping up all the emotion that you've been willing to expose and I want you to watch him lay your actions, choices, sins, onto His heart and then willingly lay on the wooden beams fashioned into a cross. Bear with me, this is the familiar part that may feel a little overdone. But this time, make it personal by seeing it through the eyes of knowing Jesus is taking your place. See the roman soldiers drive an iron peg through his left hand, and an iron peg his right hand, then another iron peg through his feet. Watch as they hoist the pole into the air and drop the foot of the cross down into the hole in the ground. It hits hard and the iron pegs tear His flesh. They'll pierce his side with a spear and the final drops of His atoning blood along with water, the living water of life, will spill onto the ground. I'm not reminding you of this historical account because I want you to feel sorry for Him. This is not about pity. Jesus was not victimized in the manner of the Romans taking his life, He willingly laid down His life. I'm not telling you this to compound any guilt or shame because the truth is, we have no authority, no input, and no point of reference with regard to God's plan on what the payment for sin will be and Jesus' agreement on how it will be settled. I'm reminding you of the cross because it's always about the cross. It's the intersection where God's truth and provision meets man's sin and human will. This question may still be be lingering in the air, How do we move from the knowledge of forgiveness to embracing this as truth in our life? How do we make this our core belief and understanding so that we operate and do life from the place of being forgiven? How do we make the leap from knowing in our head that we're forgiven to actually forgiving ourselves? Maybe our inability to forgive ourselves is twisted up with the cross. And it's the reason why we won't let ourselves off the hook. Because the truth is, it should have been me. It should have been you. Paying for what we've done. That was our debt. Our burden, our guilt, our shame, our choices, our actions. When it comes to realistically applying forgiveness, there is a portion of the process when we apply God's truth every time guilt and shame comes up in our mind. We interrupt the thought with truth, not allowing our mind to start running wild. While that can seem robotic, God's truth overwhelms every lie and is very effective. The point of forgiveness that I'm trying to examine are the times where we're checking all the Christian boxes of what makes a good Christian so that our good outweighs our bad. We're doing all the right things. We're praying, we're fasting, we're in church every Sunday all with the hope that we'll get God's approval and then He will supernaturally change the way we feel. I don't want to deny the practical part of applying God's word to our life, but what I want to dig down into is the pride part. Could it be that we've put ourself on the cross? Let's say we have. And yet we're STILL struggling to extend forgiveness to ourselves. On the one hand, we can't deny the truth of our guilt and on the other hand, somewhere down to the core of our DNA we also acknowledge that we are grossly under qualified (and that is putting it lightly) to carry the weight of the cross. Whatever the reason is, I do know that pride can blind us. It did me. If we don't humble our hearts we will find ourselves on the hamster wheel of guilt, shame, forgiveness, guilt, shame, forgiveness. It feels like a rat race but that's simply the world's value system. In God's value system, it's the intersection where God's truth and provision meets man's sin and human will. I'm reminded of a story that's been around as long as I can remember, I feel sure you've heard it. It's about the man who worked at a bridge with railroad tracks. He was responsible for opening and shutting the bridge for both the boats and the train. He'd taken his little boy to work one day and the youngster was playing on the tracks. To the father's surprise a train was approaching faster than he could get to his son but if he closed the bridge lowering the train track his son would be crushed. Not sure if it's a true story or not but it goes on to say that the man made the excruciatingly heart shattering decision to save all the people and their families that were on the train and he lowered the tracks crushing his little boy. The people on that train would go on living their life, never knowing what the father sacrificed nor what the precious son had afforded them. I often overlay that onto God's Fatherly heart because some believers will never grasp the fullness of freedom that has been paid for them. Surely God's heart must have broken because in the sin payment transaction God turned His face away from His beloved Son. Full payment for sin, the kind that saves us, translates to God the Father, being separated from His Son, Jesus. Some believers will go on living their life, entangled in shame, regret, never embracing what God ordained and what the blood of the Son afforded them. They'll maintain a distance between their head knowledge that God had a plan to pay their debt of sin and yet never embrace it in their heart what the precious son afforded them with His blood. This whole message, this episode started when I was in my car, driving down the road, talking with God, the image of Christ on the cross making the just and final payment for my sin came to my mind. I've seen this picture countless times in books, and all kinds of preaching material but this time, my heart responded to the immense sacrifice, I made it personal. I saw the intimacy of what Jesus was doing for me and it softened my heart in a different way. The kindness of Jesus overwhelmed me. Kindness can seem like such a weak word in the scale of this particular context. Romans 2:4 says, Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God's kindness is intended to lead you to repentance? What had me weeping was being overwhelmed with the goodness and kindness of God even though I was in a place of pride, despising the riches of His kindness, forbearance and patience. I wasn't letting the work of the cross, His Son's blood be enough. I was making it about me. I would not have made a direct connection with that way of thinking, none-the-less, it was playing out in my life, in my thought life. And when I saw how precious the Lord is to me even though I looked upon the cross with contempt/pride my heart become overwhelmed. If Jesus' blood satisfied my sovereign, holy God, why was I being prideful still making it about me? God hasn't abandoned us at Friday on the Cross. He gave us the Sunday resurrection. Our God is alive. Jesus is alive. Living breathing, fresh perspectives, new beginnings, the God of do overs. That's the power of the blood. I've said a lot to bring us to this one point. It's time to change our vision of the cross, our self imposed definition of what pays our debt. If you're still in a strangle hold by your past I want to know, when you look up at the cross do you see Jesus on it or is it empty? Do you see Jesus' work finished or unfinished? If we haven't allowed the blood to pay our debt we're as good as a dead (wo)man. We're physically alive but we're mentally/emotionally 6 feet under. And we'll stay stuck in that type of mental grave until we soften our hearts, humbly admit that we're not capable of paying our debt. Not now, not at our last breath, not at any time in between. Let's take ourself off the cross. It's not about us. Face it, we cannot pay for what we've have done or not done. We cannot fix what we said or did not say. If you agree with the atoning blood of Jesus and His finished work on the cross, you have been acquitted. The final words of Christ on the cross apply to us. It. Is. Finished. Tell your mind, YOU'RE FREE! Tell your heart, YOU'RE FREE! Tell your body, YOU'RE FREE! We don't have to wait for heaven to live in peace, joy, and freedom. Give God, give Jesus, your praise and gratitude. Take a moment to let Him embrace you with His presence. Soften your heart toward His love, make Him personal in your heart and mind. And then do Him the best honor of all, let the world see God in you! Get out there and... Live Loved and Thrive! Get Rid of Guilt and Shame: Invite God into a conversation. Ask Him to take control of the atmosphere. Bring to the forefront of your mind the thing that still causes you guilt and shame. Talk with God about how you feel. Give him all of your pain and questions - Purge all your beliefs that surround the pain. Picture God with you, listening in a loving way. Ask Him, who do you want to be for me in this? What do you want me to know about You in this context of my guilt and shame? Trust God with your pain. Tell God you do not despise His Son Jesus and the work of the cross. Lay your guilt and shame at the foot of the cross. Break any agreement you have made with the lies you have believed about your guilt and shame. Give God your praise and thanksgiving. It can be in tears, laughter, songs of worship, outright words of praise etc. in whatever way you want to worship Him and give Him His due honor. Have you been waiting for something God has promised you? HOW have you been waiting? God has made promises in Scripture, and we can trust that He STILL makes promises and delivers His promises today. Abraham waited 25 years for God's promise to be fulfilled to him, and along the way, he lost his trust and even tried to do it himself. Even though Abraham messed up, God still confirmed and reconfirmed His promises to Abraham and that He WILL deliver on those promises. We also can wait on God in spirit, rather than wait on "it" in flesh.     Monologue: Autumn recounts an unbelievable experience with a women's prison worship event. Message: After the break, Autumn relays two different ways of waiting and the two different means of waiting. Are you waiting on that “thing” promised to you, or are you waiting on God to deliver on His promises to you? And, are you waiting in the flesh or in the Spirit?  Question: “What do you do when a friend from the past comes back into your life and you aren't the same person as before?"  Praise Report: A listener shares how they no longer suffer from nightmares due to childhood traumas and substance abuse because of how God intervened in their life for six years and counting.    Bible References: Psalm 27:14, 130:5-6, 33:20-22, 37:34, 62:5, 37:7, 46:10, 130:5 Isaiah 40:31, 30:18, 64:4, 55:10-11, 61:7-8 Lamentations 3:25 Exodus 14:14 Proverbs 20:22 Genesis 49:18, 15:1-6, 17:1-8 Ezekiel 3:19 Galatians 5:17-23 Romans 4:16-24 Links from the show BOOKS: www.autumnmiles.com/resources SPEAKING: www.autumnmiles.com/speaking MERCH: autumnmiles.square.site   If you have a question for Autumn, testimony to share, or other inquiry for the Autumn Miles Ministries, click here and fill out the form, or send us an email at hello@autumnmiles.com    Join us on social media! What have you stopped believing for? What word from the Lord has exhausted all your faith because it just doesn't seem to be happening? Do you think you are too old, too far gone, that you're too broken, or that the thing has already passed you by? If you believe God has forgotten about you, THAT IS NOT THE CASE! He WILL do what he said, just the same as He provided Sarah and the Shunammite woman their dreams and tested them for theirs. It WILL be well.   Monologue: Autumn recalls a sweet, teary-eyed moment between her daughters. Message: After the break, Autumn points out the resemblance between Sarah from Genesis and the Shunammite woman in 2 Kings 4 and their story of God's provision for dreams they thought too far gone from them. Question: “It's really hard for me to focus and understand the Bible a lot of the time. Do you have any suggestions for how to read the Bible better?"  Praise Report: A listener shares how God had told her that her dead marriage will be alive and well, and she is joyful to report that today it is alive and well and God continues to grow them everyday.   Bible References: 2 Kings 4:8-17 Genesis 18:1-14, 21:1-2, 22:1-14 *All verses are from the NASB1995 Bible translation.   Links from the show BOOKS: www.autumnmiles.com/resources SPEAKING: www.autumnmiles.com/speaking MERCH: autumnmiles.square.site   If you have a question for Autumn, testimony to share, or other inquiry for the Autumn Miles Ministries, click here and fill out the form, or send us an email at hello@autumnmiles.com    Join us on social media!
