Angelique Bates broke through at twelve years old in America when she got the gig as an original cast member on the hit children's show All That. As a grown up, she's starred in productions like Strong Medicine, Boston Public and she can be seen in the posthumous Michael Jackson video for the song Love Never Felt So Good ft. Justin Timberlake. In this exclusive interview, Bates talks to Zeventine about growing up in front of the cameras and what the entertainment industry was like for her. This legendary guest is an acclaimed songwriter, entertainer, and actor. Born and raised in Ottawa, Canada, the enormous success of his first number one hit, “Diana” made him a star at the age of 15. Soon after he found himself traveling by bus with the ‘Cavalcade of Stars’ which featured the top names of the day. He honed his craft surrounded by the likes of Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly, Frankie Lymon, and Chuck Berry. And he is the youngest entertainer to ever perform at the Copacabana in New York, as well as the Sahara and Sands Hotels in Las Vegas. The best-known titles of his early career included hits like “Put Your Head On My Shoulder,” “You Are My Destiny," "Lonely Boy," and "Puppy Love," (which also was recorded by Donny Osmond). By age 18, he had five Top 5 hits to his credit. After a few hit songs, he gained confidence in his talent as a writer and wisely knew that being a songwriter meant the power was in the pen. As a result, he went on to write for Connie Francis, Leslie Gore, and Buddy Holly (including the last song Holly ever recorded, “It Doesn’t Matter Anymore”). Other hit songs include the Academy Award-nominated theme for the 1962 film in which he starred, ‘The Longest Day.’ And he notably penned the longest-running theme in television history for The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson (“Johnny’s Theme”). In the early ’60s, he became a junior associate of Sinatra and the Rat Pack. Even with the British invasion, he still had chart records. He moved to Italy and outsold the Italians, selling an astonishing 4 million records there. In the late ’60s, he wrote “My Way” for Frank Sinatra and by the ’70s, he had another string of hits like “(You’re) Having My Baby”, “Don’t Like To Sleep Alone”, and “Times Of Your Life” which confirmed his status as an icon of popular music. Additionally, he’s written with Michael Jackson (“This Is It” and “Love Never Felt So Good”) and Drake (“Don’t Matter To Me”). He’s been named the 21st most successful artist in Billboard’s history, putting him alongside music greats Elvis Presley and the Beatles. And he is the only artist in history to have a song in the Billboard Top 100 over 7 consecutive decades. And The Writer Is…Paul Anka! This episode is sponsored by BMI and ABKCO. I love music and i listen to all different genre. Some time i download songs that i never really get a chance to play in a party. So why not just put it in a mix. When i'm riding in my car i tend to have these songs on blast. lol. Screw you and don't judge me. lol. This mix is one that you can play for your kids and have them sing along instead of that nastiness that they be playing on these urban stations. Happy Friday everybody! The temp starts off warm with the Sam Smith slow-cooker “Stay With Me,” but quickly builds from there. Duke Dumont's “I Got U” get's yet another remix treatment by none other than MK, who's been doing his thing in house music since 1993. While not as well-known or famous as some of his 90's cohorts, he's most famous for his remix of the Nightcrawlers “Push the Feeling On.” He has subsequently produced tracks for Pitbull and Will Smith. Wise D & Kobe pluck the late 80's acid house classic "Sexpress" and give it an upbeat house treatment, while Block & Crown take the disco classic by Odyssey “Native New Yorker” (a personal all-time favorite) titled "New York City Girls" and stamped out a fierce filtered-disco thump, maintaining the soul of the original while dumping most of the lyrics, save the chorus. Tommy Trash updates the early millennial number one “Don't Call Me Baby” by Madison Avenue with a fresh vibe that breathes new life into this classic. Mark Knight takes on Kylie's “Can't Get You Out of My Head” with a really deep and dark groove on “Your Love.” We also see the return of Miss Patti Brooks (of TGIF fame) on “I Like the Way You Move,” a powerful house-stomper like you've never heard from her before. That song also features backing vocals by former Supreme Scherrie Payne with Joyce Vincent-Wilson and Pamela Vincent of Tony Orlando and Dawn fame from the early 70s. As promised, I dropped the Party Favorz edited version of Frankie Knuckles' final mix for Michael Jackson's “Love Never Felt So Good,” then begin to lower the temp once more with Nile Rodgers' “Do What You Wanna Do” and the major deep house hit “Waves” by Mr. Probz. I'd say that song along with “I Got U” will end up being two of the biggest house numbers of the year. You can expect the final two sets of Epic Circuit Anthems to drop this coming week. After that, I have no clue what's in the bag BUT you know it's gonna be good so make sure to follow this site for continued updates throughout the summer. That's pretty much all she wrote for now. Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend. Until the next time …ENJOY! Album : Beach House 2K14 v2 Genre : Disco, House Year : 2014 Total Time : 01:25:59 1. It's time for that funkydiscohouseshit …YEAH, BABY! Comprised of the finest disco, funk, soul and deep house of the moment, the 2K14 Beach House is on FIRE this year!!! In fact, I couldn't contain the fire and it ended up spreading into a second set, which will be dropping on Friday. Just in time for your 4th of July holiday, I'm letting loose some serious sunshine for the beach lovers and the pool-side margarita-sipping divas. No doubt when you do a quick scan of the track-list, you will notice two notable songs that may leave you scratching your head. Before you go off half-cocked and start sending me nasty messages about why I mucked-up your summertime fun with Katy Perry, I suggest you listen to it first. Her latest single Birthday was released with a gazillion remixes. Mark Picchiotti took the opportunity to throw in not one but three different mixes (house, disco, and beach), all of which are exceptional and surprisingly fit the song really well. Besides, with “beach” in the title, it was a surefire bet it would be included. The other oddity you may ask yourself is why didn't I include the Frankie Knuckles amazing remix of Michael Jackson's Love Never Felt So Good. Honestly, I have been impressed with all of the remixes for this song and DJ Kue's filtered-disco version was just too delicious to leave out. So, Frankie's take (which was his very last remix before his passing) IS included in volume 2 coming out Friday. While his version was left intact by Eric Kupper, I had no choice but to do some creative editing to reel the song in because this ain't the 90s no more. Regardless, his final offering is a fitting tribute to the King of Pop and another gold star in the legacy that Frankie leaves behind. Finally, DO NOT MISS out on the last track Jubel by Kingande. This song is an OMFG summer tune! The original version came out last year but Ultra picked up the distributing rights for the US and commissioned several remixes for the song. I fully expect Jubel to lodge itself into the most memorable summer songs of 2014. Expect to be hearing either this or the amazing Tube & Berger remix on the upcoming Hot Mess summer EDM set I've got scheduled later in July. I've got an interview with my company for a management position later this afternoon so everybody wishes me luck. After all, I need the money so I can keep feeding your rapacious appetites for all things Party Favorz [grin]. I'll be back on Friday with volume 2 of Beach House. Until then …ENJOY! HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYBODY! Okay, okay … this set was scheduled for Friday morning delivery but due to space limitations on my new host, I had to wait until today when it resets. Better late than never, cause this shit SLAMS! Party Favorz is a one-man operation that never rests! I work hard to bring you the biggest, best and most promising dance music so you don't have to. Given all the work that went on and will continue for the next few months pulling everything together on the new site, I had been a little lax in my posting. last week, I dropped Gay Days for the circuit boys and this week I'm dropping a brand-spanking new EDM set full of delicious big room beats and lots of drops. This set starts off a little slow but quickly picks up steam about halfway through. Lots of great new stuff in here and my personal fav of the moment is Matthew Koma's “Wasted.” Think of it as a modern twist on the Pet Shop Boys “You Only Love Me When You're Drunk.” Of course, I've been all over the Fedde Le Grande remix of Michael Jackson's “Love Never Felt So Good,” ever since it was announced. Despite what Lance Bass and his side-kick Giggles, Wiggles, Tickles or whatever her name is said a couple of weeks ago on Dirty Pop, Ariana Grande & Iggy Azalea's “Problem” is a massive thumper, not the two thumbs down they gave it. Frankly, if they're going to be hosting a show about pop culture, they need to get with the program and understand what the fuck they're talking about. In the same show, they gave these three rather mediocre or flat-out lame songs the thumbs up. I was practically screaming like a wild man in my car when I heard this blasphemy. Out of all the tunes included here, Daft Punk's “Derezzed” is quite possibly the most uninspired work they could possibly conjure up, including Avicii's tame remix of the song. Step in Chris Cox to punch it up and save it from drowning in its own blandness. Of course, we got Katy's latest and a new one from Ellie Goulding, who I personally think can do no wrong. I'm not sure why, but I just adore this woman even though I don't keep up with all the latest happenings in the lives of artists, stars or otherwise. I just seem to consistently feel her work whenever it comes across my conscious. You may very well want to stay close to the site and make sure to follow me in any which way you choose. There is no shortage of options to get your Party Favorz delivered in a manner that's convenient to your lifestyle. For those that have been asking for it, Party Favorz is now listed by category in iTunes. The only two missing are the Diva Hall of Fame, which will never be listed and Gay Pride, which will be fixed and listed by the end of the week. June is going to be a VERY busy month around here and I don't want anybody missing out on all the goodness heading your way. I hope everybody has a fabulous weekend and I'll be back with some more crazy-good love next week. Until then …ENJOY!
