E' il 3 Giugno del 2017 quando la troupe cinematografica diretta dall'esperto climber e filmaker Jimmy Chin si ritrova infatti a filmare un documentario a dir poco particolare...girando ogni scena al primo chack. Il protagonista è appunto Alex Honnold e la trama è la salita della parete Freerider, di El Capitan, in Free Solo appunto. Non esiste margine di errore, non esiste "taglia! Rifacciamo". Un passo falso qui non determinerebbe solamente la fine del documentario. Non è certo da tutti decidere di scalare una parete di grande difficoltà slegati e con delle videocamere attorno. Ce lo raccontano i testimoni e il protagonista, in una storia da Oscar.
