The divine Feminine is rising and creating, expanding us into a new realm of what is possible for our lives in this reality. I am joined by Malyssa Harelson, kundalini guide, artist, and divine feminine priestess, who free riffs with me on the experiences we have had recently that point to the shift in energy that brings us further into embodying the divine feminine paradigm. We are noticing the changes in the ways we create, the energy that we allow ourselves to create from, and how we approach the sacredness of creating. We get into what it means to create sustainably, rather than out of scarcity or pressure narratives. We talk about ancient feminine practices that are becoming more and more a part of the channeled reality that many of us continue to work towards establishing in our lives, families and communities. Malyssa goes deep into the need to tend ourselves, as space holders and facilitators, to help us replenish and nourish ourselves. The focus on community and connection in this episode is palpable, and we dance and weave together in a way that honors deep love and connection. Overall, we reflect on the question of what it is that we intend to do as we make our way back into the world as embodiments of a new dream. What is the feminine rising in your life? And how does that look and feel? What does it mean to have fun while also honoring your unique essence and your soul's medicine? Join us to spark a deeper conversation on these topics, and be invited to share your own thoughts and musings with me or with other sacred space holders in your life. Be blessed as you join us for the journey of the exchange. Episode two! There are two episodes now! It’s a real podcast! To think we have lived to see such times! I have realized too late that, in discussing the character “Chaos” from “Primal Rage,” I neglected to mention that he is a giant, pinkish ape. I apologize sincerely. This will not happen again. I mean, …
I mean, what can I even say at this point? We’ve had weeks of wonderful interviews with smart and funny and wise coaches from all over the country. I get something from every conversation and then I get even more when I listen back to our conversations later. This series will be something I revisit again and again as a coach, and I hope you are able to take advantage of these interviews in the same way. Today, we’re sharing our interview with Don Crabtree, who has coached for over four decades and currently serves as President of the National Speech and Debate Association. No further explanation necessary for why Malyssa and I were so excited to speak with him. Forensics Faces is recorded and edited in Sheboygan, WI. Our theme song was written and performed by JJ Hameister. Special thanks to Steve Schappaugh and Deano Pape of the NSDA for connecting me with the folks featured in this series. Malyssa and Kirt really enjoy promoting forensics by hosting this podcast, but we know that we’re promoting the activity within our already established forensics family. Maybe we can extend our fan base to our close friends and family. Maybe. But today’s guest comes from a place where speech and debate are valued in ways that will blow your mind. Greg Stevens is a coach from...well many places, but most notably Okoboji High School in Iowa. (Sidenote: why do so many people make fun of Sheboygan when there are towns in the world named Okoboji?) We loved talking to Greg about ways to increase the visibility of our programs as well as the history and legacy of speech and debate in Iowa. This is definitely an episode that will appeal to our colleagues in the debate world. He also told us about the craziest and most profitable fundraising idea we’ve ever heard. Forensics Faces is recorded and edited in Sheboygan, WI. Our theme song was written and performed by JJ Hameister. Malyssa and Kirt revisit a topic from our Too Taboo for the Tabroom series: What place does politics have in forensics? For students? For coaches? For judges? Have we changed our minds at all since the election of Donald J. Trump? Let’s get political, forends. Special guest Antonio Trinidad helps recap the Hortonville tournament from this weekend. On this week’s episode of our Retro Forensics Faces series, we’re speaking with Trey Smith, the coach from East Mountain High School near Albuquerque, NM. Trey is also his district NSDA chair, and we asked him about his relationship with his administration. Trey’s former Principal was recognized by the NSDA for supporting the speech and debate program at his school. Malyssa and Kirt also had a really good time learning about how speech and debate in New Mexico in some ways resembles what is done in Wisconsin and in other ways is very different.
