Weddings, significant birthdays (30, 40, 50, etc), class reunions, special parties, beach vacations …All of us have really wanted to look our best for a certain special occasion. There's nothing wrong with this. But it doesn't have to be a special date. It might just be a totally imaginary, made-up deadline that you've put on yourself. You set a goal to lose a certain amount of weight by a certain date. However, when it comes to the big picture of losing weight and keeping it off, this might not be the most helpful approach. In today's episode, I'll explain the pros and cons to wanting certain results by a certain date. And we'll also dig into another method for losing weight that might be less stressful and more sustainable. And that date becomes like a terrible storm … lurking in the distance that just causes you stress as it creeps closer and closer.

She Breaks Free....Ditch the Diet & Change Your Relationship with Food & Fitness
Do you "fall off the wagon" when the holidays arrive? Do you give yourself permission to eat whatever you desire during life's special events? Do you "start over on Monday" after indulging in two slices of wedding cake over the weekend? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you might be adhering to a social norm that contradicts the concept of food freedom. This pattern of behavior can prevent you from achieving true liberation from food-related stress, making you feel obligated to partake simply because it's a special occasion. Life brims with special events, occasions, and foods. Rather than approaching them with trepidation, fearing a loss of control, consider preparing for these events with the proper mindset and mindfulness. If we succumb to "falling off the wagon" consistently, we'll never attain the freedom to savor life's pleasures without the subsequent guilt and shame. I'm eager to learn about your progress in this journey; feel free to reach out to me at taraj@dietditching.com.

This is a rerun of what could be called a VALENTINE'S DAY SPECIAL, and I hope you enjoy it.Last year on Hardwick's Front Porch Forum, someone called Tiana asked if there was anyone who could help her with her hair and makeup for an important date with her boyfriend. Front Porch Forum is an online, daily community forum, which is like a bulletin board at a local general store. You can find secondhand tires there. Or read complaints about the Selectboard. Every Vermont town's got a Front Porch Forum and you have to be from that town to be on it.Since Tiana's new to town, she thought she might have luck finding someone to help her get ready for her date through the Forum. And she did. Here is her original posting:Makeup for Special Occasion Tiana • Hardwick I'm looking for someone who'd be willing to do my makeup (and possibly hair?) on the 23rd of this month. Just something simple with my eyes and something to hide some red spots. Is there a way to make an illusion of a skinner face? I think thats a thing, right? I understand it's a long shot and I don't have much money. I usually don't like anything thats considered "girly". However I want to surprise my boyfriend for our first anniversary. I have a nice dress picked out with matching press on nails. The issue is I have no clue how to do makeup. YouTube tutorials have never done me any good considering I don't own any makeup and I have a very round, chubby face.Thank you for reading! Hey, Survivor! ‘Tis the season for special events. And, for narcissists, special events can evoke sabotage attempts. This could include: holiday parties, family gatherings, weddings, and more. What should be a joyous occasion can easily become a stressful or traumatic situation that compromises your health and wellbeing. When I got married 26 years ago this week, my dad almost ruined my special day. His toxic behavior included a hotel room “lockdown,” smear campaign, and threats against me and my husband. If I had known then who and what I was dealing with, I could have prepared for the chaos and drama that he created. If you, or someone you know, need help navigating narcissistic relationships around special occasions, this episode is for you. Know who you're dealing with. Know who you are.
