She's one of Australia's iconic Drag performers….if you've been to Oxford Street, Sydney, chances are you've seen this episode's guest up on stage, dressed in something outrageously fabulous. This week we chat with Maxi Shield! For the past 25 years Maxi has become one of Australia's most recognisable Drag Queens, and one of the stars of Ru Paul's Drag Race Down Under. We've seen Maxi perform many many times. She's fun, clever and a star on stage. Spending time with Maxi, we chatted about the early days of Les Girls that led the way for today's performers, also the days of ‘Drag Magic' when transformations seemed to occur before your eyes and what it's like to express the ‘fabulous' in yourself. If you're up for a fabulously fun night on the town in Sydney, Maxi is currently performing in Oxford Street at Ginger's, also you can have brunch with Maxi on Sundays at “The Fannies”, a decadent breakfast display at The Park, Darlinghurst. Maxi will be appearing in Adelaide for the Fringe Festival and you can find more details here:https://www.itdevents.com/tours/sisters-down-under-adelaide-fringe Follow Maxi at; Instagram: @maxishield Facebook: Maxi Shield www.maxidrafqueen.com email: maxishield@hotmail.com www.youtube.com/maxishieldPlease Subscribe and rate and review us wherever you get your podcasts from.Delighted to have you on this journey with us.Mitch and Mark.Check out our socials :@mitchandmark @mitchandmarkhome @realityrenowithmitchandmark@FacebookWe also have a range of homewares to help you to transform where you live into a fabulous space.Have a look here. Christmas is nearly upon us, and for Kita and Anita, that means all the holiday gigs you can imagine! As well as unpacking the inside goss from their latest gigs - and the jokes that fell flat - this week the two discuss the shock revival of Sex and the City, a reunion for Canada's Drag Race and Harry Potter, Parliament's unanimous passing of a bill to make changing gender identity easier, and they take on the Catholic Church again! Plus, the duo is tested as Anita confronts Kita after discovering a secret about her vote for Miss Congeniality.... Are you in need of an excuse? The musical theme continues on this week's episode of Happy Hour, as Kita and Anita put their friendship to the test as they try to remember each other's lyrics - spoiler alert, one does a lot better than the other. Then they take a deep dive into the controversy over the new Drag Race Season 14 cast, and discuss politics and pride as New Zealand finds itself with a new opposition leader. If that's all too serious for you, don't worry - there's plenty of talk of bloody stool, AirBnB cons, soliciting for wine bottles and drunken Red Light celebrations. Are you in need of an excuse? This week Kita and Anita have plenty to celebrate - not only is Christmas only a few weeks away, but Auckland is leaving lockdown! The two discuss their highs and lows from the latest lockdown and what their hopes are for the new year - plus how it will allow Kita to return to her love of drinking on planes. The two also discuss the new Covid variant, political drama in New Zealand, World AIDS Day, and learning to love yourself and celebrate queer spaces - oh, and why you should cut off your legs if you don't want to go ice skating. On this week's episode, Kita and Anita discuss Adele, Taylor Swift, Britney Spears and all their pop-diva memories as they dive into new albums and newfound freedoms. And for I-Need-A Excuse, the two question what to do when it turns out your best friend is a backstabber. And their Drag Race sister Maxi Shield pops in for a cameo to discuss her new tour, sharing the stage with Madonna, and tracking down the hottest men in the club. Are you in need of an excuse? We're in for a treat this fortnight with our first of two very special Drag Race episodes. First up, superstar of RuPaul's Drag Race Down Under, Maxi Shield, regales us with her long and very personal history with... Madonna. Yes, we know, every Aural Fixation episode is essentially about Madonna, but this topic was Maxi's choice and for good reason. Our album of focus is the incomparable Immaculate Collection, but it was her brush with a diamanté banana on the Rebel Heart Tour that will prick up your ears. Want more from the boys? Visit our online home at auralfixationpodcast.com, follow us on Instagram and Twitter, or go old school and email us at auralfixationpodcast@gmail.com. You can follow Andy on @andrewdoyouthinkyouare and Drew on @with.all.drew.respect. And don't forget to check out this episode's playlist! Our big gay thanks to Anthony Garvin and the team at Forbes Street Studios in Sydney. Finally, we would like to acknowledge both the Gadigal of the Eora Nation and the Ngarigo, the traditional custodians of the lands this podcast episode was recorded on, and we pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.
Maxi Shield, fan favourite from RuPaul's Drag Race Down Under, joins us on the island! We talk body image, the eggy perils of on-set catering, and the single most delicious (and lethal) jaffle recipe ever. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Maxi Shield is one of the world's most talented drag performers, she's been in the business for more than 23 years and has been officially verified as Madonna's Unapologetic Bitch. She's engimatic, beautiful, delightful and so extremely talented, that it seems like nothing can slow her down. But as we know, we're all human, and Maxi - who took lockdown as an opportunity to step into the aged care sector - shares a vulnerable side we're so grateful for.https://www.instagram.com/maxishield/?hl=enFor more calming ideas head to our website.Have you heard of BRAVE? Weil? Ja keine Ahnung, warum nicht? Viel Programm, also anschnallen und los. Viel Spaß bei The Gayze!
New York nightlife is back in full swing and we are living for it -- Mijon even took a note from Art Simone and finally danced in the club to Chromatica!! With the first season of Drag Race Down Under coming to a close, it was only right to discuss the finale with a couple of fabulous Aussie queens; and the lovely Bree Vin-Ammyl and Krystal Kleer have us covered. We deep-dive into the final episode, the drama on Drag Race España, and even talk about drag at a funeral! On the pod:Drag Race Down Under episode 8, “Down Under Grand Finale” Kita Mean takes home the first Down Under crown and we couldn't be happier! Scarlet Adams apologized for blackface but the problem goes deeper Seriously, what was Ru Paul wearing? Could Art Simone's dress have touched the floor? Did Trixie and Katya make Karen From Finance famous before she was ready? The queens' final interviews: who actually made Ru laugh Drag Race España episode 3, “Mocatriz” Unpacking ‘Mocatriz' Supremme is slaying her looks!! Inti's dramatic exit About our guests:Krystal Kleer is both your wildest dream and your worst night terror, perfectly balanced on a 6.5-inch single sole pump. Known as the Lip-Sync Assassin, this Queen will never cease to surprise, dazzle, and amaze you whether she's a magical green garden troll or an albino fairy with kaleidoscope eyes. Krystal performed for icons like Kylie Minogue, Dawn French, Baz Luhrmann, and Cher. Worked for clients like Marc Jacobs, Bundaberg Rum, Biscuit Anderson, Airbnb and Fox Sports. Other personal highlights include performing at the Sydney Opera House, being photographed atop the Sydney Harbor bridge for Sydney LGBT Mardi Gras, and being crowned Miss Dragnation 2018. Personable, witty, and dangerously funny, there is no way to explain the ethereal beauty that is Krystal Kleer. Bree Vin-Ammyl is an Aussie queen based just outside of Sydney NSW. She has been doing drag professionally for 10 years and worked in all of Sydney's iconic bars including Stonewall Hotel, Midnight Shift, and the Imperial Hotel (of Priscilla fame), and worked alongside some of Down Under's most iconic queens! Including Carlotta, Maxi Shield, Tora Hymen. Not to mention playing hostess to a number of the Ru girls while they toured Down Under. Lately, she hosts regular trivia “The Big Fact Hunt” and bingo nights in the Wollongong and greater Sydney region. When she's not entertaining, she can be found styling wigs for local theatre and queens from all over or behind the sewing machine whipping up a frock for her next gig!FOLLOW KRYSTALInstagram: @krystalkleerofficialFacebook: Krystal KleerTikTok: @krystalkleerofficialFOLLOW BREEInstagram: @thatssobreevinFacebook: Bree TaylorTikTok: @thatssobreevinFOLLOW NICK Instagram: neprobst and grow_withnickTwitter: neprobst FOLLOW MIJON Instagram:majorzu FOLLOW THE HUNTYS Instagram: whisperinghuntysFacebook: whisperinghuntysTiktok: whisperinghuntysTwitter: huntywhisperingWhispering Huntys Website Whispering Huntys is an Apocalypse Podcast Network Podcast.
We are so excited to bring you our recap of Episode 3 of RuPaul's DragRace Down Under and this time, WE BROUGHT FRIENDS. Escaping Reality fam, you know and love Stacey, and she's HERE to chat (finally!!). We are also so excited to welcome Agie and Stacey's friend from college Jessie! She's an AVID DragRace fan and joined us to share her feelings about this new season of DragRace. Episode 3 is all about the SONG CHALLENGE and we're looking back on past DragRace songs and breaking down the beautiful episode this week where the queens wrote verses for and performed "Queens Down Under." We're loving on Maxi Shield and fighting with the judges about their critique of Elektra Shock. We're also giving an ode to "old school drag" and discussing the differences between DragRace seasons of the past and now. We also loved, loved, loved the revelation about Elektra Shock's life (and her dance studio) and the support she got from the other queens. There's a lot to unpack in this episode, and having four of us on the pod def made the episode long. ENJOY. We've got all that PLUS "Toot or Boot the Looks," #RuPaulNeedsaVibeCheck, Queens of the Week, and Rapid Fire! Make sure you listen to the end to hear a CRAZY story about Stacey's prom. Trust me, you'll want to hear this one. As always, just a reminder that these opinions are solely ours as fans of RuPaul's DragRace. We are not drag professionals and are incredibly grateful to watch and share our of this show with y'all! If you're looking for a specific segment, here's a break down: Intro + Introducing our Guests (0:00-14:06) Previous Episode Context (14:06-15:54) New Episode Recap Part 1 (15:54-51:34) Toot or Boot the Runway Looks (51:34-1:05:32) New Episode Recap Part 2 (1:05:32-1:19:03) RuPaul/Judges Need a Vibe Check (1:19-03-1:22:02) Queens of the Week (1:22:02-1:24:35) Rapid Fire (1:24-35-end) Be sure to give us a follow as well on Instagram @EscapingRealityPod and on Twitter @EscRealityPod -- If you enjoyed this episode, please leave us a rating/review on Apple Podcasts and/or follow us on Spotify! OMG! You've just found a mysterious note in the werkroom, and it says this: "Welcome to Tuck Me Dead, a Maxi Shield stan podcast! This week Sian and Seán get excited for the Queens... Down Under! on this week's Girl Group Challenge! They fail to say the words 'Outback Fake-hoes' a bunch of times, bitch about Ellen DeGeneres, normalise getting railed in the bush and Yeah Nah / Nah Yeah the week's runway lewks." Wow, wonder if Art Simone wrote this. #DragRaceDownUnder
Snatch Game? In Folge 2??
G'day Escaping Reality Fam! Are you so excited to join us on a new journey in conjunction with Survivor? I hope so because we are so excited to be able to watch a show in real time with you and discuss. And, you guessed it, we're starting with RuPaul's DragRace Down Under, airing on Wow Presents+ starting on May 1st! In our first episode, we're looking at the trailers, the Q&As with the queens, and their published promo looks to bring you our thoughts on these 10 exciting new queens. We're giving you a peek into our background with DragRace, our favorite queens/winners of the past (our DragRace 'herstory' if you will) as well before we dive into the "episode". Nick and Agie are taking the reins and they're giving you a vibe for each queen PLUS they're tooting and/or booting all the promo looks. We're also loving on Maxi Shield, Art Simone, and Etcetera, Etcetera (the roach look? GAGGED). We also give ourselves drag names and aesthetics in Rapid Fire. Can't wait to hear your thoughts and talk DragRace with you all! Since this is a new type of episode we tried to keep our format with a few adjustments. But, we wanted to have clear segments. If you're looking for a specific segment, here's a break down: Intro (0:20-2:28) Our DragRace “Herstory” (2:28-21:18) “Episode” Recap (21:18-32:34) Toot or Boot the Looks (32:34-43:35) Queen of the Week (43:35-45:21) Rapid Fire (45:21-end) Be sure to give us a follow as well on Instagram @EscapingRealityPod and on Twitter @EscRealityPod -- If you enjoyed this episode, please leave us a rating/review on Apple Podcasts and/or follow us on Spotify! Make sure to tell your friends about the pod and have them join you (and us) on our journey through reality television competition series. Survivor episodes drop on Wednesdays and RuPaul's DragRace Down Under episodes drop on Fridays! As always, thanks for listening & thanks for Escaping Reality with us!
