11,3 Millionen Menschen galten nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg als „Displaced Persons“ – Überlebende der Shoah, Menschen, die verschleppt wurden, um Zwangsarbeit zu leisten, aber auch Menschen, die vor der Roten Armee flohen und Täter:innen.Diese wurden weiter unterschieden, in immer wieder unterschiedliche Kategorien, bis am Ende der Begriff des Flüchtlings als Kategorie Teil internationalen Rechts wurde. Auch die Aufnahmeländer unterschieden sie – vor allem nach Arbeitsfähigkeit und Qualifikation.Christina Wirth promoviert im Teilprojekt „Von den „Displaced Persons“ zum „Flüchtling“. Rechtlich-bürokratische Humandifferenzierung in der Nachkriegszeit“. Sie berichtet davon, was mit den Displaced Persons nach dem Krieg geschah, von Ernest Michel, der von einem Todesmarsch floh und in amerikanische Gefangenschaft geriet und wie Nachfahren von Überlebenden auf ihre Forschung reagieren. Er wurde später Journalist und berichtete von den Nürnberger Prozessen und machte es sich zur Aufgabe, als Überlebender von seiner Zeit in Auschwitz und anderen Konzentrationslagern zu berichten. Sein Zeitzeugeninterview könnt ihr beim Fritz-Bauer-Institut sehen. Ernest Michel hat auch eine Autobiografie geschrieben. In "Promises Kept. Ein Lebensweg gegen alle Wahrscheinlichkeiten" berichtet er von der NS-Zeit, den Grauen von Auschwitz, aber auch von seiner Flucht und seinem Engagement für andere Überlebende. You may see color and culture across the City of Madison, but the Public Art Program has so many layers that help bring beautiful art to life on public structures and in the community. The Percent for Art ordinance, passed in October of 2017, officially created a mechanism to increase the rate of our investment in public art. Through the Percent for Art Program one percent of the city funds committed to any capital project exceeding $5,000,000 will be designated for public art. In 2020, Madison's Percent for Art ordinance initiated its first project with the Metro Transit Maintenance Facility project on East Washington Avenue. Anthony works hand in hand with university research teams and runs a greenhouse quarantine space for Koi to study KHVD and other prominent diseases. People do not talk about this epidemic enough, maybe because they just don't want to. KHVD originated in Japan and recent outbreaks in California have many people concerned. Koi are a massive food source, so even if you do not have a pond in your backyard, it could still affect you or someone you know.
