Oves anhöriga, i synnerhet dottern Loise, känner att nånting inte står rätt till gällande Barbara. Det är hans 54åriga sambo Barbara som tillkallat hjälp, men när hjälpen väl kommer är han redan avliden. Dödsfallet, som skrivs av som en följd av sjukdom, kommer snart att ifrågasättas av Oves anhöriga, som då också börjar riktar misstankar mot Barbara; denna mystiska kvinna som dom egentligen inte vet mycket om, alls. Čím vyšší máte plat, tým viac vám z neho štát vezme. Oveľa viac stratia ľudia pracujúci počas dní pracovného pokoja, odborári odhadujú straty v stovkách eur na osobu. Živnostníci zase musia do dnešného dňa zaplatiť zvýšené odvody.Ak živnosntík bude musieť zaplatiť minimálne 425 eur štátu na odvodoch, mnohých to môže odradiť od začiatku podnikania, upozorňuje analytik Radovan Ďurana z inštitútu INESS. Podľa neho navyše deficit nebude nižší, takže rozhodne nejde o dobre investované peniaze. Navyše, tieto opatrenia posúvajú Slovensko oveľa nižšie v rebríčkoch kvality podnikateľského prostredia.Šéfka najväčšieho odborového zväzu zase upozorňuje, že štát chce takto prinútiť fiktívnych živnosntíkov, aby sa zamestnali. Problém ale je, že niekedy nemajú na výber a štát nevie efektívne kontrolovať fiktívne živnosti. 1. nedeľa po Zjavení Pána Všetci, ktorých vedie Boží Duch, sú Boží synovia. Rimanom 8,14 Matúš 3,13-17 13 Vtedy prišiel Ježiš z Galiley k Jordánu za Jánom, aby sa mu dal pokrstiť. 14 Ján mu však chcel v tom zabrániť a povedal: „Ja by som sa mal tebe dať pokrstiť, a ty prichádzaš ku mne?“ 15 Ale Ježiš mu odpovedal: „Nechaj to teraz! Patrí sa nám naplniť všetko, čo je spravodlivé.“ A tak mu Ján už nebránil. 16 Po krste Ježiš hneď vystúpil z vody. Vtom sa mu otvorili nebesia a videl Božieho Ducha, ktorý ako holubica zostupoval naňho. 17 A z nebies zaznel hlas: „Toto je môj milovaný Syn, v ktorom mám zaľúbenie.“ Aj ja som milovaný/á. Krst Pána Ježiša ostane pre nás, kresťanov, trochu záhadou. Dokonca podľa slov samotného Pána Ježiša bol Jeho krst niečím, čo sa patrilo urobiť, niečím, čo bolo slušnosťou alebo dokonca zvykom. Jánov krst bol krstom pokánia z hriechov a začiatkom nového života pri príchode Mesiáša. No všetci vieme, že Pán Ježiš bol bez hriechu. Načo Mu potom bol tento krst pokánia? Myslím, že toto nebudeme vedieť presne zodpovedať. My sme však boli pokrstení krstom Pána Ježiša Krista. Stali sme sa tak Božími deťmi, patríme Kristovi, vzťahujú sa na nás všetky dôležité Božie zasľúbenia o Božej ochrane, prítomnosti a nakoniec aj zasľúbenie večného života. No mne sa zdá, že najdôležitejšie bolo to, čo zaznelo po Ježišovom krste a opakuje sa to rovnako aj pri našich krstoch: „Toto je Môj milovaný Syn…“ Túto vetu by sme si mali pripomínať aj my. Aj keď sme boli pokrstení ako deti a nepamätáme si svoj krst. Oveľa dôležitejšie je to, čo s nami Pán Boh pri krste urobil. Pri krste koná oveľa viac Pán Boh, než my: On zo mňa, aj z teba urobil milované Božie dieťa, pretože ma prijal krstom do Svojej rodiny a dal mi Svoje meno, kresťan (= patriaci Kristovi). Modlitba: Ďakujem, Pane Ježišu, že som sa krstom mohol stať Tvojím milovaným dieťaťom. Veľa to pre mňa znamená. Daj, nech na to nezabúdam! Amen. Nový systém financovania súkromných škôl i povinná maturita z matermatiky - to sú len niektoré zmeny, ktoré poslanci schválili v rámci školskej reformy. Minister školstva Tomáš Drucker ju označil za najväčšiu za dvadsať rokov. Michal Rehúš z Centra vzdelávacích analýz, ktorý v minulosti šéfoval analytickému tímu Inštitútu vzdelávacej politiky na ministerstve školstva o tom pochybuje. „Táto reforma nemá zmysel. Finančne nedostupné školy sa stanú ešte drahšími,“ upozorňuje v rozhovore. Zmena by mala platiť od septembra 2028. Súkromné a cirkevné školy si budú môcť vybrať, či budú naďalej vyberať školné a prídu o 20 percent normatívu na žiaka, ktorý im posiela štát, alebo sa vzdajú školného, otvoria sa prijímaniu všetkých detí z obvodu a zachovajú si normatív v plnej výške. „Náš cieľ by mal byť, aby sme mali školy, ktoré nevyberajú žiadne poplatky. Ale to sa nedocieli týmto spôsobom,“ vysvetľuje Rehúš. Presne vypočítava, že spoplatnené školy by mali prísť asi o 500 eur ročne na žiaka, čomu sa skutočne drahé elitné školy bez väčších problémov prispôsobia. Finančne dostupnejšie školy s nižšími poplatkami však budú mať problém. Je tu však spôsob, ako si škola môže zachovať školné aj normatív - ak uzavrie dohodu so štátom, že bude robiť inovácie a prijímať žiakov so špeciálnymi potrebami, ktorí by mali tvoriť do 30% všetkých detí. Aj tu však budú existovať výnimky a konkrétne pravidlá. Želané výsledky v podobe vyššej matematickej gramotnosti a väčšej ochote vyberať si na štúdium technické odbory sa podľa analytika Rehúša nedostavia ani po zavedení povinnej maturity z matematiky. Sú výskumy z Nemecka, ktoré ukazujú, že viac testovania z matematiky vyústilo len do toho, že učitelia začali vyvíjať na deti väčší tlak, dávali im viac úloh a následne klesla motivácia žiakov učiť sa matematiku a mať z nej radosť. „Obávam sa, že aj povinná maturita z matematiky zabije vnútornú motiváciu detí učiť sa ju. Oveľa lepšie výsledky by sme získali, ak by štát pomohol učiteľom lepšie tento predmet učiť,“ hovorí Rehúš. Zároveň ponúka odpovede na otázky, či je prevádzkovanie súkromnej školy dobrý biznis a prečo vyššie výdavky na vzdelávanie vedú k väčšej ekonomickej prosperite krajiny. Ovog četvrtka, 30. listopada, u Perthu započinje Tjedan hrvatskih kreativnih industrija. Ova manifestacija slavi kreativnost i umjetnost hrvatske zajednice, ne samo u zapadnoj Australiji, nego diljem cijele zemlje. Od filma, vizualnih umjetnosti i dizajna, pa do rukotvorina, Tjedan hrvatskih kreativnih industrija predstavlja sve aspekte kreativnog izražavanja Hrvata u Australiji. Ove godine, manifestacija se po prvi puta održava u Perthu i traje tri dana, a završava 1. studenoga, kada se ujedno otvara izložba hrvatskih umjetnika i rukotvorina. Tjedan hrvatskih kreativnih industrija omogućava publici da se upozna s kreativnim radom Hrvata, a ujedno i daje priliku umjetnicima da predstave svoje radove široj publici.

Twenty-five years ago, a landmark paper warned that the world's coral reefs could vanish by 2050. Now, halfway to that projected date (and amid ever more frequent coral bleaching events), that grim prediction feels increasingly close to reality. What is the current state of Earth's coral reefs, and what would happen to our planetary home without them?  In this episode, Nate is joined by Ove Hoegh-Guldberg, the marine biologist who made this landmark prediction, for an update on the health of coral reefs and the primary ecological stressors driving their decline. Drawing on decades of research, he explains the mechanisms of coral bleaching, the critical biodiversity hotspots that reefs create, and the implications for human populations that depend on these ecosystems. Ove also touches on the emotional impact of witnessing the loss of reefs for the scientists who have dedicated their lives to studying them. How are human actions increasingly putting pressure on the very ecosystems that support more than one billion people? What would happen to the broader health of the oceans if reefs were to disappear entirely? And most of all, what changes can both individuals and institutions make today to support the health of these vital ecosystems – and in-turn, the well-being of the entire Earth? Over the past 10 years, he was also the Founding Director of the Global Change Institute. In addition to this work, Ove conceived and led the scientific XL-Catlin Seaview Survey which has surveyed over 1000 km of coral reefs across 25 countries and captured and analysed over 1 million survey images of coral reefs.  Ove's research focuses on the impacts of global change on marine ecosystems, and he is one of the most cited authors on climate change. BUFFALO, NY - September 24, 2025 – A new #research paper was #published in Volume 16 of Oncotarget on September 22, 2025, titled “Loss of Trp53 results in a hypoactive T cell phenotype accompanied by reduced pro-inflammatory signaling in a syngeneic orthotopic mouse model of ovarian high-grade serous carcinoma.” In this study, led by first author Jacob Haagsma and corresponding author Trevor G. Shepherd from the Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre and Western University, Canada, researchers investigated how the loss of Trp53 – a critical tumor suppressor gene – affects immune responses in ovarian cancer. The team found that deleting Trp53 led to more aggressive tumor growth and a weaker immune response. These findings help explain why some ovarian tumors may be resistant to immunotherapy and point to new ways to improve treatment. High-grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSC) is a deadly cancer that is often diagnosed at a late stage. Immunotherapy, which enhances the body's immune system to fight cancer, has shown limited effectiveness in treating this type of cancer. To better understand why, the researchers developed a mouse model that closely mimics human HGSC. They injected ovarian epithelial cells, with and without Trp53, into the fallopian tubes, the origin site of most ovarian cancers. “In this study, we developed a syngeneic model reflecting both the site of origin and the genotype of early HGSC disease by deleting Trp53 in mouse oviductal epithelial (OVE) cells.” Mice injected with cells lacking Trp53 developed faster-growing and more invasive tumors, reflecting how the disease typically progresses in humans. These tumors also had fewer active T cells, which are immune cells responsible for attacking cancer. Moreover, the T cells that were present appeared less capable of responding to the tumor, creating an immune environment that allowed cancer to grow uncontrolled. Further analysis revealed that tumor cells without Trp53 had reduced activity in genes related to inflammation. When the researchers collected tumor cells from the abdominal fluid of the mice—a condition that simulates advanced-stage disease—they observed even lower immune signaling than before. This suggests that as the tumor spreads, it becomes better at evading the immune system. This study highlights how early genetic mutations can shape the interaction between tumors and the immune system. In particular, the loss of Trp53 appears to trigger a chain of events that weakens immune surveillance and accelerates tumor progression. These findings emphasize the need to consider both genetic mutations and the tumor environment when designing immunotherapies for ovarian cancer. Understanding how genes like Trp53 influence immune behavior may lead to more effective treatments and help identify which patients are most likely to benefit from immunotherapy. Ce recours, autrefois exceptionnel, devient un symbole de la précarité grandissante dans le monde étudiant.Selon la dernière étude de l'Observatoire de la vie étudiante (OVE), environ 20 % des étudiants en France vivent aujourd'hui sous le seuil de pauvreté. Ce chiffre, déjà alarmant, éclaire les raisons pour lesquelles certains jeunes n'ont d'autre choix que de solliciter l'aide de leurs proches ou d'inconnus via des plateformes de financement participatif.La première cause de ces cagnottes est le coût de la vie étudiante. Entre le logement, les frais d'inscription, le matériel pédagogique, le transport et l'alimentation, le budget explose rapidement. L'OVE rappelle que le logement représente souvent plus de la moitié des dépenses mensuelles. Dans les grandes villes universitaires comme Paris, Lyon ou Bordeaux, les loyers sont devenus quasiment impossibles à assumer sans aide parentale conséquente ou sans un emploi salarié.Deuxième explication : les ressources limitées. À travers ces appels à la solidarité, les étudiants racontent des histoires personnelles : financer un semestre à l'étranger, payer un loyer en retard, acheter du matériel informatique indispensable, ou encore couvrir des frais médicaux. Les réseaux sociaux amplifient la portée de ces messages, transformant parfois une initiative individuelle en mobilisation collective.Derrière ces démarches se joue un enjeu plus large : celui de l'égalité des chances. Quand un étudiant doit passer par une cagnotte pour poursuivre ses études, cela illustre un système qui peine à garantir à chacun les mêmes conditions d'accès à l'enseignement supérieur. Les associations étudiantes et syndicats pointent régulièrement ce problème, appelant à une revalorisation des bourses et à une politique de logement plus ambitieuse.En conclusion, les cagnottes étudiantes sont le symptôme visible d'une réalité invisible : la pauvreté étudiante. Ove godine prvi put se organizira dvodnevni STEM summit u Canberri, koji će se održati 18. i 19. listopada.
