Jace is joined by Chris Ryall from Syzygy Publishing to chat about the just released archival art book The Mighty Marvel Calendar Book: A Visual History. It's joins the previously published Origins of Marvel Comics by Stan Lee which is also a look bak in time at a specific period in Marvel Comics history, that itself was looking back on the earliest days of the Marvel Age of comics by reprinting the first appearance of iconic characters like Spider-Man, the Hulk, The Fantatic Four and more. Chris talks about the extras contained in this collection of calendars with never before seen unaltered artwork from legendary creators like Jack Kirby. It's a really fun trip down memory lane so be sure to listen in!
Aldo spent our usual recording time at Evo, so John and Stephen were left to their own devices. So they did what any parents would do when their kid leaves town: brainstorm which Marvel characters would make for the best musicals! Featuring Chris, who is perhaps most famous (at least in our circles) for… being John's brother-in-law.
Toddy & Jasper are back and PUMPED after one of the best Dons wins in recent years. They chat about the frenetic pressure against the Saints, Nic Martin's performance & a huge Friday night against Port Adelaide.
In this episode we can finally get up to date with every event we've played in recently. And Curtis's first competitive event in almost a decade isn't as bad as he figured it would be!
Episode #476! Cool Stuff episode. This week Scott brings a few Marvel collected editions to the podcast. While not the large size Epics or the expensive hardcover Masterworks, these manga sized Mighty Marvel Masterworks editions are perfect for new readers and old. DL brings a reprint collection that many assumed would never get a collected edition. Both DC and Image have come together with a deluxe edition of Batman Spawn. This volume not only includes the '90's stories with last year's new tale but also includes pencil pages and covers. Also on this episode Scott has These Fists Break Bricks by Grady Hendrix and Chris Poggiali which focuses on the Kung Fu movie craze of the 70's. Check it out!
Show notes provided by Joe Peluso With sincerest apologies, and endless love, to STAN LEE "Well pilgrim it is time for me to once again ascend to the top of my can-tankerous crate, amidst the mindful meandering masses trodding through the town square, and seize their attention with relevant rhapsodies! Today's tantalizing topic: The Silver Age of Marvel Comics. Riotous Rich Garofalo and Joltin' Joe Peluso recapture the scintillating sixties that provided the panoramic palette birthing the bomb-bastic backdrop of Mighty Marvel! With powerful portions of palaverouspontifications, the boys retell a tale of a simpler time of satirical and serious stories that salvaged a sickly medium and created an ardent army of "merry marching" faithful followers." PHEW! How did Stan do this every month? Rich and Joe have selected some of the most memorable Marvel Masterpieces from that wonderful era of four-color fun to review in this edition of Joe's Comics Corner. If you were fortunate enough to experience these gems firsthand, brace yourself for a flood of meaningful memories. And if this is your first exposure to Silver Age Marvel, sit back--and as Stan "The Man" Lee would oft say--ENJOY! And what honest review of any comic book be without a tease? Marvelite, you will learn of the strange connection between The 59th Street Bridge and (the now defunct) Tad's Steak House. "Don't say this isn't the Marvel Age of cryptic commentary?"

EPISODE 27: Seren and Rey return for the start of their Spider-Woman discussion from GROUND ZERO, where it all began - MARVEL SPOTLIGHT VOL. 1 #32 Released November 9th 1976 Writer(s) Archie Goodwin Penciler(s) Sal Buscema Inker(s) Jim Mooney Colorist(s) Janice Cohen Letterer(s) Irving Watanabe Editor(s) Archie Goodwin This heralds the start of our look back at the classic issues of Jess...now one of TWO episodes to drop per month! Our other episode later in the month will tackle Spider-Woman in other media, or in comics of the modern age... It's a fun trip down a bygone time, and both Spider-Babies recommend any serious Spider-Woman fan to go check it out! Seren - 4.5/5, Rey - 4.5/5 Remember - To Know Her Is To Fear Her! Enjoy! SYNOPSIS (courtesty of Wiki): With Nick Fury stationed at a S.H.I.E.L.D. base on the Riviera, Hydra (led by Otto Vermis) sends a squad to attack, with their newest super-agent, their "spider-woman" whom they have code-named Arachne. Sent to assassinate Fury, Arachne thinks back to the events that led her to become a member of Hydra: how she was a girl in a small European village and was considered a witch because of her fantastic powers. However, she was found and taken in by Otto Vermis and made a member of Hydra. There she and fellow Hydra agent Jared became lovers. However, Jared would soon be captured by S.H.I.E.L.D., and Vermis would send Arachne to assassinate Fury in revenge. When Arachne accidentally kills Jared trying to get at him, Fury realizes that Arachne is unaware that Hydra is a terrorist organization and shows her video footage of Jared threatening innocent lives. Convinced that Hydra has played her for a fool, the angry Arachne goes back to get revenge against Vermis and his Hydra unit. Confronted before he can escape, Vermis reveals the truth about her origins: that she is really one of the High Evolutionary's New Men, a highly evolved spider, who did not fit in with her fellow New Men and fled to a nearby town where she was recruited by Hydra. Vermis breaks free from Arachne and tries to make his escape in a Hydra shuttle. Arachne follows his ship, damaging it enough to make it crash and killing Vermis. As S.H.I.E.L.D. secures the Hydra base, Arachne flees and wanders off into the wildness to wonder what she will do with herself now. VENOM BLASTS (things to look out for in episode)!! Seren's take on the 'Madam Web' casting and tin foil hat on what it'll be about! Rey forgets what's on Jess' forehead! Jess' 2nd-6th appearance in comics... And you run, you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking…well, before it sets, Paul and Arlo have a few MCU movies they need to discuss. Due to that pesky pandemic, we've gotten behind on the Marvel Cinematic Universe here at Gobbledygeek, but fear not! In this special, super-sized episode, Paul and Arlo discuss three mighty Marvel movies: Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which brings Chinese mythology to the MCU; Eternals, which brings a race of immortal god-beings to the MCU; and Spider-Man: No Way Home, which brings a whole bunch of Spider-Men to the MCU. The boys rave about Tony Leung, have a friendly (?) debate about the merits of Eternals, can't get enough of Andrew Garfield, and so very much more. Comics, movies, TV, merchandise, we've got you covered with news, views and reviews. In this episode, your hosts Paul Shearman and Darrell Taylor are rejoined by professional pub-goer Colin Coughtrey, to delve into more Marvel goodness. Get involved by doing the homework and joining in the conversation. We also fancast Arnold Schwarzenegger as Death's Head himself, and somewhere down the line we end up retconning Obi-Wan Kenobi as the heartless bad guy in the Star Wars saga. How did this happen? Listen in... And as a tease for the next Six Issue Segment, we will be reading Paul's pick - West Coast Avengers issues 42 - 47 from 1988. Yes, we're off on a Vision Quest...! Then, our main event - Hawkeye Spoiler Chat! There's two episodes to review, so we get stuck into them and, as you'd expect, there is a selection of differing opinions from us... Welcome True Believers, this is the Mighty Marvel Mix, a Podcast brought to you by the Taylor Network of Podcasts. This is a podcast for fans of all things Marvel! Comics, movies, TV, merchandise, we've got you covered with news, views and reviews. In this episode, your hosts Paul Shearman and Darrell Taylor have given a swift karate chop to Colin Coughtrey, so in his absence we have a chat about all the latest Marvel happenings. We start with Shang Chi & The Legend Of The Ten Rings. In these pandemic times, we are all watching movies in a different manner, so Paul was able to have the theatrical big screen experience for this latest entry in the MCU, while Darrell will be waiting for the home release on Disney Plus in a few weeks time. So Paul gives us a non-spoiler review of the movie - and we do promise it is non-spoiler, so listen with confidence. We also talk about the latest comics, so listen in for some spoiler-y chat on Daredevil 33, Spider-Man 72, Sinister War 4, X-Men 2 and Moon Knight 2. We also take a deeper dive into the Spiders Shadow conclusion, which is Chip Zdarsky's limited series in the revived What If..? comic book series. And speaking of What If..?, we talk about the first 4 episodes of the animated series streaming now on Disney Plus. It's a busy show, hope you enjoy. As well as this podcast, you can also check out the Marvel Mix Bulletin, which is extra bonus content that features the latest and most up to date news from Marvel.
