Send me a messageA topic and issue I've been grappling with is artificial intelligence. It's a space that has dominated so much in 2024 - news, investment, executive wish lists, fears, hopes, fantasies. Personally, I've just been overwhelmed and it's a topic that's allowed me to find compassion and empathy for all the folks out there that aren't consumed and living the issues of environmental protection, human rights and sustainability more broadly - this stuff is technical, expansive and has a lexicon all of its own. Artificial intelligence is something I want to explore more in 2025, but to begin today's guest is Lee Schofield.Lee is an unusual character in the realm of AI - and not just because she's a woman, but she's a trained economist, and her professional career has spanned investment, sales, marketing, product management and strategy. I first came across Lee at a conference in 2023 where she spoke about AI, responsible technology, and the shift from the attention economy to that of the intimacy attention. She spoke like a normal person - not an acolyte of a general purpose technology that has arrived to reshape every element and aspect of our lives for the better. She wasn't banging a big drum proclaiming that AI was the messiah to the climate crisis, the plastic crisis, the inequality crisis, the cancer crisis, the loneliness crisis.That take as a regular person was important for me to better understand, because if a non tech bro who was interested in AI as a tool for calendar optimisation or sales closing uplift could learn about, build an understanding of and then communicate about the overwhelming and often confronting world of AI, it helped me realise I had somewhere closer to home that was more than a listening or viewing experience. So this episode is one where I have basically no idea about the content - which hopefully is unusual. Its intent is to help me and hopefully you as well begin to learn about this big and broad and strange and bombastic and daunting and auspicious technology.OK Lee - she offers the value of curiosity, of taking time, the necessity for the beginner's mind, and the potential learning and growth that comes with a healthy dose of humility. I certainly need it so I remain more firmly in the realm of learning and scepticism as opposed to cynicism and sarcasm.A heads up that this is the last interview format of the pod for 2024. Portal to Mirror Dimension Discovered.

This week we watched the very reflective finale of Heavy Object! We also get the log awaited appearance of the maid squad!

Barry becomes convinced Mirror Iris is not his wife. With a skeptical Cecile, he finds a copy of Kamilla's photo of Mirror Iris. However, his equipment is switched by Eva and instead shows Barry as the fake, so he is locked up, though Cecile later frees him. The duplicates of Iris, Kamilla and Singh approach Bloodwork for a drop of his blood in exchange for freeing him. Mirror Kamilla sacrifices herself for this, but Bloodwork chooses to remain imprisoned for his own plans, giving Mirror Iris his blood after she admits she wants to live. In the mirror world, Iris discovers Eva's treachery but is captured. Mirror Iris gives Eva the blood and wounds a weakened Barry. Watching the battle, Iris taunts Eva that she still loves Carver, just like how Iris and Barry love each other. This sends Eva into a mental downward spiral and thus; impairing Mirror Iris. Barry convinces Mirror Iris to be her own person, but Mirror Iris apologizes to Barry and encourages him to seek Iris while Eva shatters her and walks free. Eva sees no point in killing a powerless Flash and reveals she also duplicated Kamilla and Singh and departs to kill her husband and "liberate" the whole world. Barry heals and he and Iris separately promise never to give up on each other with Iris plana to search the Mirror Dimension for Kamilla and Singh. Meanwhile, Cisco and Ralph find Caitlin still struggling to heal from her battle with Sunshine, with Frost's immune response sending her human half's body into a severe hypothermic reaction. When that is countered, Caitlin decides to talk to her mother.

Barry has to ask himself why "Grodd Friended Me". Barry's been struggling to adapt to a post-Crisis world. It becomes frustrating when old friends have become enemies, your team is off doing their own thing, and you have to rely on Gideon to help you feel better. But when Chester P. Runk tries to help, Barry's consciousness gets transferred into his old gorilla nemesis, Grodd. The feisty ape has been trying to escape his mental prison and convince the Flash that he has changed. Barry doesn't buy it. With a little help from the backup team at STAR Labs, he discovers that the only way he's going to escape is by teaming up with Grodd. Nash does a very poor job of revealing his personal truths to Allegra. And Iris is still trapped in the Mirror Dimension with a very nervous Eva McCulloch. But this mysterious woman is hiding more than Iris could imagine. Jay and Josh may merge into a very bizarre hybrid on this week's episode of Scarlet Velocity: A Flash Podcast!

While looking for his parent’s graves, Flash finds Pied Piper in the middle of a jewelry store robbery and sees that he now has sonic abilities. Kamilla and Chester are helping out on the comms because Ralph is pursuing Sue, Iris is working on a case, and Caitlin is at A.R.G.U.S. checking up on Bloodwork. After Pied Piper gets away, Barry is left wondering what else happened following the Crisis. While working to update Gideon, Barry is visited by Chester who tries to help improve the portable AI device. However Chester makes a mistake, and when Barry attempts to use Gideon, he is transported into Grodd's mind who is still in a coma at ARGUS. Grodd states that there is a gatekeeper that's keeping both him and Barry from exiting the Grodd’s mindscape. Flash investigates and discovers that the Gatekeeper is a mental copy of Solovar. As Mirror-Iris continues to look for information on Carver, Eva and Iris attempt to use the same device Eva had finished the night of the Particle Accelerator explosion to escape the mirror universe, but her her arms are burned when she tried to get through. Meanwhile, Allegra learns that she has a doppleganger that used to work for Nash. After some persuasion from Caitlin, Chester works to help get Barry out of Grodd’s Mindscape as Flash and Grodd work together to beat Solovar. Once they escape the Mindscape and successfully separate, Caitlin arranges for Grodd to be released on probation. Back in the Mirror Dimension, as Iris leaves to get bandages, Eva contacts Mirror-Iris who is actually working for her and briefly got the same injuries, which Eva heals. As Nash is going to confront Allegra, he sees another vision involving Sherloque Wells who says "He is coming."

In the Mirror Dimension, Iris meets Eva, who has been stranded there ever since the Particle Accelerator explosion knocked her into the mirror in her office. After all this time, she has not been able to find a way out. Iris suggests that they try the same strategy they used when Sam Scudder trapped someone in the Mirror Dimension, however this plan fails and the mirror shatters. Meanwhile, Mirror Iris asks for access to the Mirror Gun to help research Black Hole. While in the basement, she has a run-in with Nash who is still seeing a vision of Harry. Dibny finally runs into Sue Dearbon who is being targeted by gangster John Loring. During a brief raid on Loring's hideout, Ralph reluctantly reveals to Sue that he is Elongated Man. While attempting to steal Loring’s ledger from the bank where it’s being held, Sue double-crosses Ralph and leaves the vault only for her to run into Loring and a squad of his goons. Ralph escapes and uses his elasticity to shield Sue from the bullets fired by Loring and his men. Ultraviolet shows up and beats up Loring and his gang before targeting Ralph and Sue. Getting the diamond she needs, Sue sneaks away while Ultraviolet fights Ralph. When Ralph states that they have been played, Ultraviolet gets away. Loring and his men stand up and are handcuffed by The Flash and arrested by the police with Joe telling the bank manager that Elongated Man was working with them. Iris discovers that Eva can manipulate the mirror as she puts the mirror back together. In her hideout, Sue analyzes the diamond that has the icon of Black Hole on it.

Sersi is the only fifth level adept, the highest possible, among the Eternals in the discipline of matter rearrangement. New posters for Avengers: Endgame confirm the death of Princess Shuri and (possibly) tease the Mirror Dimension, a parallel dimension. In Doctor Strange, it allows the user to practice their magical abilities and fight their enemies without the public's knowledge. Skilled sorcerers are able to fold matter and distort space.
