The Justice League verses the Secret Society, who will win? The group that works together the best. Gorilla Grodd has gathered The Shade, Giganta, Killer Frost, Sinestro, and Clayface. Grodd has been working his mental control abilities on the League for months, messing with their emotions and making them feel stressed around each other. Watching the cracks form, he takes his Society and attacks when they're vulnerable, proving they can be beaten. He is not content to let them walk away privately. He wants to end them publicly. So, he sets a trap and captures all of them except Green Lantern. John, in tracking them back to the cave, tries to step in to free his team, and puts up a good fight, but is ultimately captured. At a Gotham Knights football game half-time show, the Society crashes the party. They are going to publicly execute the League. But Martian Manhunter has been impersonating Clayface. He frees the team and they finally begin to work together and cover for each other. They defeat the Society and agree to apologize to each other and move on together...or so it seems. The League is back on Earth, but they encounter some things they could not expect! Talking Gorillas, mind control, and a hidden city in Africa are just some of the surprises. Gorilla City is protected by a force field that makes it look like a mountain. The city is populated with evolved Gorillas with advanced technology. One of their own, Grodd, has made a play for power but was thwarted, and so he escapes to the U.S. With the help of scientist Dr. Sasha Corwin, he is using mind control to build the Gorilla City shield in Central City. The Flash and Green Lantern are drawn in to the situation, but a "run before you know the details" Flash gets caught unaware, and falls under mind controll. Fortunately, Solovar, a good Gorilla from Gorilla City, has come to stop Grodd and the three of them team up in the pursuit. Grodd gets the jump on them though, and is able to turn on his force field causing Central City to disappear! Batman and the rest of the league find Gorilla city and try to find out what is going on but are captured. Grodd fires nuclear missiles at the city and turns off their shield. Green Lantern and the rest of the League stop the missiles just in time. Flash uses his super speed to rewire Grodd's mind control helmet to fry his brain. The League is thanked and Grodd is put in a zoo, but for how long? The Waverider is flying Zambesi, New Zealand and Salvation, North Dakota trying to stop Mallus or Mailas from taking over the world. “Guest Staring John Noble” – The Legends must stop Grodd from killing Obama in his college years, but that is just one of the crazy things going on this ep. Nate & Wally join Amaya in Zambesi. They convince her older self to pass on the totem and her daughter Esi to take it up. Damien joins the Legends to stop Mallus from forming and killing Nora in the process. They have to get John Noble to read Mallus' lines in the process. But things go south. Damien double crosses them, releases Grodd on the village and let's Nora escape. “The Good, The Bad, and The Cuddly” – Rip sacrifices himself to buy the Legends some time against a fully formed Mallus. They head to Salvation, North Dakota where Jonah Hex is sheriff. Zari sends for help and Ava, Jax, Helen the Amazonian, and Kuasa Vixen come to help. The Legends must use the Totems to form a defender, but the first attempt fails. Ray and Damien go back in time and save Nora by sacrificing Damien to be Mallus' host. The Legends and friends must fight an army of Romans, Vikings, and Pirates. While they are being held at bay, the Legends form Bebo who defeats Mallus with wrestling moves and the day is saved. People love this ep, people hate this ep, and people are in the middle. We as podcasters were right there with them. Overall, we really loved season 3 and had forgotten how good it was, because we were hung up on the finale. But we appreciate the season more now. We loved going through it with all of you. Now, Alex is building Mainstem Media, a company dedicated to creating podcasts and documentaries to facilitate productive disagreement. Alex is a former teacher and alum of Teach for America. The Waverider uses all its' power as Gideon flies us to Vietnam in 1967 and a different earth. In these two eps, we learn more about Mick's backstory, check in on a villain we love, and actively help in the crossover event. "Welcome To The Jungle" - The Legends head to Vietnam in 1967 chasing an anachronism that turns out to be Gorilla Grodd. Sara is still out for the count, so the team has to step up to solve the issue without her. Rory encounters his dad and tries to help him change for the better. We learn that Mick's dad's experiences in Vietnam led to abuse of Mick and his mom. The team must fight Grodd and protect President Johnson. Jax & Stein continue their road to try and break up Firestorm. "Crisis On Earth-X Part 4" - There are many times when our team does not play a part in the crossover, or the part is small. This year was different. We played a vital role. It was so vital that we lost Doctor Stein and Firestorm in the process. The team of heroes from our universe must give their all to stop the Nazis and the Evil versions of our team. There is much danger and peril, as well as a reunion with old friends in the form of doppelgangers. In the end, the Nazis are defeated. We mourn Stein's loss and celebrate Barry & Iris and Oliver & Felicity's marriages. The Waverider is docked at STAR Labs in Central City. Red Death has speed hacked a satellite, and with the amplification of Gorilla Grodd's power, is creating her own global enforcers with the intent on wiping out crime. She sets a trap for Flash and his Rogues with Mark held as bait. Flash hasn't gained his speed back yet, and so feeling outgunned, the Rogues abandon him. But after a talk with Joe, he goes to confront Grodd to gain his help by using the Speed Force spark to re-energize his own speed. Barry, the Rogues, and a sudden drop in by the real Batwoman, they manage to take down Red Death. Joe is taking Jenna to the country to raise her. Cecile will get to be a hero during the week and have dedicated family time on the weekends. Chuck and Allegra are moving forward with their relationship. Khione's icy kiss brings Mark back from the brink of death and she is able to tell that Iris is pregnant. Behind the "Mask of the Red Death" (p2) is a very angry woman. The out-of-time Ryan Wilder decides to punish Central City by donning out justice in her own way. With her Rogues, she takes over the police station. Then she broadcasts sentinels around the world using the powers of Grodd, who she has convinced to help her. Barry and his new team go to rescue Mark, but it turns out to be a trap and Red Death takes away the rest of his speed. Now, the only way for them to stop her reign of terror is to talk to Grodd and change his mind. Luckily, they may get a little surprise help from Gotham to finally wrap up this fight. "I'm old, so what does this mean? It means that I grew up on St. Elsewhere and Picket Fences and LA Law. I grew up in a time where it was commonplace, like literally every week, for a one-hour drama to tackle the issues of the day. Somewhere along the line we got away from that -- like, the whole industry got away from that. And now you've got like Blackish and Carmichael Show, but as far as network dramas are concerned? Really not tackling current events, current issues. So we went into season 5 with the desire to. It's the fifth season; we've hopefully earned the freedom to, in 23 episodes of television, you can have 22 episodes of candy and one episode of vegetables. We sort of felt that gun violence felt like the right topic, because of its topicality but also because of the level of gun violence that's on Arrow. We could have done an episode on abortion, but that's not really where the show lives, so gun violence sort of felt like the right thing to tackle." Part of what John Diggle brings to the team is his relationship with ARGUS through his wife Lyla. We're waiting to see how that plays itself out. Diggle was freed last week, and Oliver said to him 'You can go home and hug your wife and son.' So that's a real viable part of Diggle that we have always seen on camera, but it would be nice to see more because he's married to the leader of the Suicide Squad. What does that play out? How does that look? What are those conversations like? We have all the elements of it... I think we have the makings of it. ARGUS is a real viable part of our whole universe, of Legends, Flash, and Arrow. (Date: 16 Feb 2017) The CW has now released a new batch of photos from "Attack on Gorilla City," including the first two images of Solovar. As you can see, Solovar — who is being voiced by Keith David (The Thing, Community) — is being depicted as a giant, white gorilla. That's a noticeable departure from his comic book counterpart, who looks like a regular gorilla but wears a fancy red cape. Created by writer John Broome and artist Carmine Infantino, Solovar made his first appearance in The Flash #106 alongside Gorilla Grodd and Pied Piper.
