In 2022, Portland residents voted to overhaul the city’s form of government. That includes using ranked choice voting to expand the number of seats on city council from five to 12. Another major change is the creation of four geographic districts in the city. Voters within each district will now elect three candidates to represent them on the new council. Thirty registered candidates are competing in District 4, which includes all of Portland west of the Willamette River, including Downtown, the Pearl District, Multnomah and Hillsdale neighborhoods. It also contains the inner southeast neighborhoods of Sellwood-Moreland, Eastmoreland, Reed and Ardenwald. On Oct. 24, “Think Out Loud” convened a D4 candidates forum at John’s Marketplace in Multnomah Village. We invited the 13 candidates with the largest number of individual donors who contributed to their campaigns. They include: Eli Arnold, Olivia Clark, Lisa Freeman, Mitch Green, Chris Henry, Ben Hufford, Chad Lykins, Tony Morse, Stanley Penkin, Moses Ross, Sarah Silkie, Bob Weinstein and Eric Zimmerman.

John 17:1–26 | In John 17, we see Jesus praying. Through his prayer, we get to see his heart displayed. Christ is intending for his ministry to bring God glory, he is desiring that his people keep his Word, and he requests that God make us all one. This week we learn about the unity that comes with being in Christ.
Exodus 28:1–4 | The high priest was a big deal throughout Old Testament history. He was the one who had access to God in the Holy of Holies. He was the mediator between the holy God and His covenant people. This week, we unpack the roles of the high priest and the garments he wore to reflect the glory of God. And we see the life-changing connection that Jesus came as a new, greater High Priest, so that we will forever be reconciled to the heart of our loving Heavenly Father.
Exodus 19:1–25 | After the Israelites' departure from Egypt, we find them camped out in the wilderness, looking up at Mount Sinai, and waiting for God to speak. The Lord calls to Moses from the mountain, and Moses must deliver a message to the people: to obey the covenant they will receive from the Lord. Exodus 19 tells the middle of the story between God's deliverance of Israel and Israel's dwelling with God.
Exodus 11:1-12:51 | Who do you really believe is in control of your life? In this passage God will show his authority over life and death through the passover. As we examine each Passover element, we cant help but see Jesus, which leads us to greater worship!
On April 30th, 2022, the boxing community was treated to one of the most historically significant events in it's history. So many times, we hear in the boxing and combat sports world the term "give back". Its a figure of speech that is used time and time again, but in rare instances, you have someone who truly steps up to the figurative plate and leads by example. This past weekend the boxing world and some of it's most successful practitioners were given the respect respect and admiration they so richly deserve, as New Rochelle's own Rob Garris presented "FIGHTERS HELPING FIGHTERS" charity event. It was a spectacular afternoon of family, friends, memories and memorabilia in the main ballroom of the Radisson Hotel, and the boxing community showed up in full force to celebrate some of the greatest boxing champions of all time. The setting was the main ballroom of the Radisson Hotel in New Rochelle, NY, and with over 20 former World Boxing Champions in attendance, the boxing community's focal point was Westchester, NY, as Philanthropist and Boxing Legend Rob Garris brought a renown list of fighters out to be celebrated and appreciated for their contributions to the sport of professional boxing. Luminaries included former Unified World Light Heavyweight and IBF World Heavyweight champion Michael Spinks, IBF and WBA former World Heavyweight Champion Tim Witherspoon, former NABF Welterweight Champion Larry Barnes, former 3-division WBC, IBF, and WBA World Champion Iran Barkley, former WBC Light Heavyweight Champion Montell Griffin, former world-ranked Light Heavyweight contender, ESPN Classic Analyst and top trainer "Iceman" Scully, former Heavyweight contender Mitch Green, Michael Nunn, and many more. The stars were indeed out in full force in New Rochelle on this day. Hubbard Wrestling Weekly© Combat sports had an opportunity to speak with some of the guests of this event live at the Radisson Hotel in New Rochelle, NY their view on their boxing legacies, how they are doing now, and a personal outlook on this wonderful event Rob Garris put together: Event Interviews: Former World Heavyweight Champion Michael Spinks: http://hubbardwrestlingweekly.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/HubbardWW-Michael-Spinks.mp3 Former 2-time World Heavyweight Champion Tim Witherspoon: http://hubbardwrestlingweekly.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/HubbardWW-Tim-Witherspoon.mp3 Former World-Ranked Boxer and ESPN Analyst John Scully: http://hubbardwrestlingweekly.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/HubbardWW-Iceman-Skully.mp3 Former 3-Division World Champion Iran Barkley: http://hubbardwrestlingweekly.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/HubbardWW-Iran-Barkley.mp3 Former NABF Welterweight Champion Larry Barnes: http://hubbardwrestlingweekly.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/HubbardWW-Larry-Barnes.mp3 Former Light Heavyweight Champion of the World Montell Griffin: http://hubbardwrestlingweekly.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/HubbardWW-Montell-Griffin.mp3 Former Golden Gloves fighter Richard Adamson, Jr.: http://hubbardwrestlingweekly.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/HubbardWW-RichardJr-.mp3 Retrospective/Recap Interview: HubbardWrestlingWeekly© Executive Vice-President Cindy Bailey-Hubbard: http://hubbardwrestlingweekly.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/HubbardWW-Mom.mp3 ((This article and all interviews are the exclusive and original property of Hubbard Wrestling Weekly© Combat sports media))

Cohosts Will Beaman, Natalie Smith and Maxximilian Seijo are joined by Mitch Green (@drmitchpdx) to discuss the problems with “inflation” as a catch-all term for price changes. A heterodox economist by training who studied with the late Fred Lee, Mitch takes a disaggregated view of prices that opens up price-setting as a publicly allocated administrative power with no necessary relationship to profits or sound finance. A sermon from Mitch Green on October 3, 2021.
Is God good? With all of the evil and suffering that happens in the world, and all the problems that we have in our own lives, it's easy to see why people would doubt the goodness of God. Today, Mitch Green and Luke Calvert recap Pastor Scott's sermon from week one of "Living in the Overflow."

Mitch Green joins host Steve Grumbine to talk about his work with Democratic Socialists of America in Portland, OR, and the role Modern Monetary Theory can play in DSA. As an eco-socialist, Mitch’s focus is on the climate crisis, and as an economist, he uses MMT to answer the ubiquitous question concerning solutions: “how will you pay for it?” Even when people are not open to accepting MMT, he finds it effective to simply ask them the price of continuing to live like this. The standard posture is to simply “tax the rich” but given the political climate, that probably won’t fly. So, what should we do? The clock is ticking. If we consider the costs of catastrophe, even standard cost-benefit analysis will tell us we must act and take what he refers to as a moon-shot approach, opening up the spigot of federal money creation. None of this is to say we shouldn’t tax the rich. But we need not rely on their money to implement the necessary policies. We can apply the levers of the state. People can be taught that the laws of economics are not immutable; they are social phenomena -- of human creation. Mitch sees the Green New Deal as something bigger and bolder than any list of traditional policy objectives. It is a bold statement that says we want to change every aspect of our society. It takes the threat of ecological collapse and uses it as a way to galvanize many interests into one organized body of action. The GND is an opportunity to change how, where, and for whom we produce things, irrespective of financial price tag. We’ll do it in such a way that protects and respects the people who are immediately affected by the transition. When Steve asks him about the challenges we face, Mitch talks about the need to get money out of politics. (Fans of this podcast may remember Scott Ferguson insisting that we only need to get private money out of politics and, in fact, should have an injection of public money into the process!) The truth is that most Americans don’t “do” democracy very well. We must have a theory of democracy that understands power. If we’re naïve about power in politics we’ll be frustrated by the inability to change. Mitch expresses optimism for the future. His experience working with DSA has shown that people have a proclivity for community and stewardship. Organizing with a rights-based framework is inspiring and powerful. We see that conservatives are animated by the fear of losing their rights, and while this is mainly concerned with their right to own guns, everyone wants the right to a dignified life. It is up to us to seize control of the narrative and tie it to the right to a job, a clean environment, health care and housing. This is where our power stems from. The discussion goes into the difference between micro and macroeconomics. They talk about Steve’s view of the job guarantee as a democracy enhancer. And they go into greater detail about the possibilities arising from the Green New Deal. Mitch Green is a Research Scholar at the Global Institute for Sustainable Prosperity. He has taught courses in political economy, economic statistics and applied microeconomics at Franklin & Marshall College and currently moonlights as an adjunct economics instructor at Portland Community College. https://www.salon.com/2019/09/02/this-economist-debunked-all-the-right-wing-talking-points-about-the-green-new-deal/

Garrett & I are joined by three heterodox economics professors to give a more Marxist view of economics from the usual neoclassical dross that gets proffered elsewhere.
