In this episode I talk to Anthony Mooz who is the CEO and founder of Ageless AI, a company that uses AI to diagnose patients in neurology and orthopedics so neurologists and care teams can assist those with Parkinson's disease as well as other diseases. Anthony shares about his journey as how he was a hacker before he even got into building this AI technology to solve problems for those with Parkinson's disease and how he has used those skills to build what he has built today. Anthony's company Ageless AI is one of the companies that the Harvard Wyss Institute is going to work with for biomedical and technological advances. Also Ageless AI will implement AI to be able to track and treat diseases quicker and more efficiently. We talk about how AI will be used in the future of healthcare, automobile industry, and daily life uses and how that will change the way we interact with each other and live our daily lives. There might not even be a need for driver licenses in the future because cars will be autonomous and self-driving which we already see happening with Tesla's self-driving feature. Also we talk about the state of AI in other countries like China and how it is being used to detect and warn citizens from breaking the law such as jay-walking. As more and more AI is going to be incorporated into our daily lives, we will see more and more automation and changes coming to the point where a lot of jobs will be obsolete and we will see an increasing number of robots and automation in our lives. We also go into talks about the difference between specific and general AI and how there will be types of AI that will affect the way we do things like agriculture, healthcare, automobile industry, and so many others. Luis Mestanza has been an active producer since the early 2000s. He has signed vinyl and digital releases for numerous techno record labels, including Pornographic Recordings, Soul Access, Naked Lunch, Speaker Attack, and Solid Groove Records. A solid portfolio built up over the years. Surprisingly, on a personal level, Mestanza is refreshingly modest. He is quick to acknowledge the debt of gratitude owed to other artists, and is never boastful about his achievements, preferring to let the music speak for itself. How does it feel to be a problem? It’s a question sociologist W.E.B DuBois asked over a century ago in The Souls of Black Folks, and which my guest this week also addresses, regarding both blackness and his identity as a Muslim in post 9-11 America. On this episode, I chat with writer/director Qasim Basir about his award-winning films Mooz-lum and Destined. We discuss the beauty (and the horror) of faith, the power of personal choices in the face of systemic injustice, and the importance of unapologetically black art in dangerous times.

Art Historian Peter Mooz discusses his new book “Religion in American Painting.” Although artists after the Renaissance gravitated to more secular themes, Dr. Mooz explains that American painters have been painting religion from the time of the first documented American painting in 1663 to today. Dr. Mooz explores the ways 19th-century artists like Thomas Cole, who founded the Hudson River School of painting, pursued religious themes of transcendentalism, and explains the religious symbols in the abstract-expressionist work of Mark Rothko.
