If you like what you hear, and/or would like to give us feedback on how we're doing, follow us at: https://beacons.ai/senornerdpodcast    / senornerdpodcast   @senornerdpod on Twitter Everything Everywhere All at Once is a 2022 American absurdist science-fiction comedy-drama film written and directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, who produced it with Anthony and Joe Russo and Jonathan Wang; the film incorporates elements from a number of genres and film mediums, including surreal comedy, science fiction, fantasy, martial arts films, immigrant narrative, and animation. Michelle Yeoh stars as Evelyn Quan Wang, a Chinese-American immigrant who, while audited by the IRS, discovers that she must connect with parallel universe versions of herself to prevent a powerful being from destroying the multiverse. The film also stars Stephanie Hsu, Ke Huy Quan, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jenny Slate, Harry Shum Jr., and James Hong in supporting roles. Kwan and Scheinert began work on the project in 2010. Production was announced in 2018, and principal photography ran from January to March 2020. The filmmakers initially sought Jackie Chan for the lead role before the script was revised to feature a female protagonist as part of a wife-husband duo. The works of Hong Kong film director Wong Kar-wai, as well as the children's book Sylvester and the Magic Pebble and the video game Everything, served as inspiration for several scenes. The soundtrack features compositions by Son Lux, including collaborations with Mitski, David Byrne, André 3000, John Hampson, and Randy Newman. The film explores philosophical themes such as existentialism, nihilism, surrealism, and absurdism, as well as themes such as neurodivergence, depr2ession, generational trauma, and Asian American identity. Everything Everywhere All at Once premiered at South by Southwest on March 11, 2022, and began a limited theatrical release in the United States on March 25, 2022, before a wide release by A24 on April 8. The film grossed over $141 million worldwide, becoming A24's highest-grossing film. It garnered widespread critical acclaim, gained a large cult following, and was a success at the 95th Academy Awards, winning a leading seven awards out of eleven nominations: Best Picture, Best Actress for Yeoh, Best Supporting Actor for Quan, Best Supporting Actress for Curtis, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay for Kwan and Scheinert, and Best Film Editing. It also won two Golden Globe Awards, five Critics' Choice Awards (including Best Picture), a BAFTA Award, a record four SAG Awards (including Best Ensemble), a record seven Independent Spirit Awards (including Best Feature), and swept the four major guild awards (DGA, PGA, SAG, and WGA). With 266 awards out of 405 nominations, Everything Everywhere All at Once is currently estimated to be the most awarded film of all time.

In this episode of Son of a Beach, host Kadie Gurley talks the latest in pop culture news. Actress Selena Gomez and model Hailey Bieber are back at it again. In January 2023, Hailey posted a video with her fellow supermodel pals Kendall Jenner and Justine Skye. The clip featured trending audio, which the trio mouthed, “I'm not saying she deserved it, but God's timing is always right.” Of course Selenators, fans of Gomez, started digging and started to think the video was about her based on body shaming comments made about Gomez in the prior weeks. Streaming live for the first time on Netflix's YouTube channel, the SAG Awards took place on Sunday and some of the biggest stars in television and film were in attendance. “Everything Everywhere All at Once” won big earning Best Ensemble, and big wins were in store for Michelle Yeoh, who is the first Asian woman to win in that category, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Ke Huy Quan, who became the first Asian actor to win the Supporting Actor category. Golden Globe and Emmy Award winning actress Zendaya has made a name for herself not only in fashion, but for her versatile acting skills in film and television shows, specifically in her star role as Rue in HBO hit show “Euphoria”. According to L.A. Times, Zendaya has negotiated a new deal with HBO that will make her one of the highest-paid television actors in Hollywood, and maybe the youngest to land such a deal. She is expected to bank in about $1 million dollars per episode this season. Singer The Weeknd recently released a remix to his hit “Die for You” on Feb. 24 and collaborated with superstar Ariana Grande for the new rendition of the chart-topping single. The remix ranked No. 6 on Billboard Top 100 chart and is expected to rank in the top 10 within the next week. Guest host Renzo touches base on the latest music in his segment "Soundwaves". On this episode the Founder of Cathartic Realism Films Claire Chubbuck stops by to share her amazing story of how to turn Tragedy into Purpose. Claire shares some of the unique projects she's working on and her views on the Metaverse. Don't miss this special episode.  Who is Claire Chubbuck? Claire Chubbuck is an emerging female director that creates mission driven content that creates catharsis for those working on it - she calls it “Cathartic Realism”. Cathartic Realism is a genre where artists tell the story of their personal traumas to find healing through catharsis. A take on the “true story” trope, this genre allows artists to depict their truths - the way it felt to them, but with an ending where you win for the purpose of cathartic release. The only way we can let it go is to feel it. She works with actors to use the traumatic events in their lives to make art. Born in Los Angeles, California, Claire Chubbuck is the daughter of internationally celebrated acting coach, Ivana Chubbuck, and award-winning director/producer, the late Lyndon Chubbuck.  After going to Scripps College in 2007 for Economics, she graduated from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts with honors (recipient of the Founders Award) and a BFA in Filmmaking in 2012. Straight out of the gate she worked at AMC Networks as a Programming and Scheduling executive. While working there, Claire began creating short form content for SundanceTV's International channels that was broadcast worldwide.  In 2013, Claire worked as a producer on “Pussy Riot: The Movement”, the first comprehensive film that tells the full story - from arrest through release from prison and beyond - of the remarkable women who defied a strongman, survived Russian prisons and rallied the world behind them. The documentary also examines the perversion of the Russian Constitution by ex-KGB officer and President Vladimir Putin. In 2014, Claire moved to Participant Media, whose films include Good Night, and Good Luck, Syriana, An Inconvenient Truth, Food, Inc., Waiting for ‘Superman', The Help, Contagion and Lincoln. There she worked to launch a linear television network, Pivot.  In 2015, Claire found her fiancé dead of tragic circumstances and, in one second, everything changed. Since then, she has been trying to help other people find an explanation for their traumas - enough to move forward without shame - with a unique community of artists that want to create. She found this community when she began teaching at Ivana Chubbuck Studios. As a teacher, she has found great pleasure in being part of inspiring others, many to great success. After spending time teaching, Claire reemerged with a new directorial debut in 2019 with ‘how I lost my virginity', a short film detailing her best friend's real-life experience of kidnapping and rape - intended to provide catharsis while looking at the systematic problem that allow for the victims of sexual assault to far outweigh the perpetrators.  In 2020, “how I lost my virginity” won over 17 awards and was shown at several high-profile film festivals including Beverly Hills Film Festival, Chain Film Festival, Santa Monica International Film Festival, SF Indie Fest, Flickers' Rhode Island International Film Festival, Marina del Rey Film Festival, among others. Claire personally won “Best Direction” at the Best Shorts Competition in addition “Best First Time Director” at Canadian Cinematography Awards, New York Cinematography Awards (NYCA), and Top Shorts Awards. The first theatrical showing of the short was at Marina del Rey Film Festival, where the short won the Audience Award for “Best Short”.  During the quarantine of 2021, Claire made an experimental film called (Corona) Viral Monologues, which had it's theatrical premiere at the Chinese Theater as part of the Silicon Beach Film Festival, where we were awarded the Audience Award for Best Narrative Short. This hour long special won “Best Artistic Film” at the Atlanta Award-Qualifying Film Festival 2022, “Best Narrative” at the Washington Film Festival, was a semi-finalist for “Best Ensemble” and “Best Experimental Film” at the Los Angeles Film Awards, and was an official selection for the Global Indie Film Awards. Claire also won Vegas Movie Award's Prestige Award for “Best Female Filmmaker” for this film. Claire currently has 2 short films in post-production, 2 short films in pre-production, and a feature film in development. On episode 139 of The AwardsWatch Podcast, AwardsWatch Executive Editor Ryan McQuade is joined by Editor in Chief Erik Anderson, TV Editor Tyler Doster, and AwardsWatch contributors Sophia Ciminello to discuss what they have been recently watching their Top 5 Pixar Movies, as well as some listener questions and a brand new game. First up is an update within the 2022 AwardsWatch Summer Movie Draft. While it is early in the game, Ryan's team has a wide margin ahead of Erik's team, who still have plenty of time to catch up. Winner of this competition will be announced at the end of August. Since it has been a couple of episodes since everyone talked about movies, Ryan, Erik, Tyler and Sophia each give out some thoughts on some recent releases, including Jurassic World Dominion, Cha Cha Real Smooth, Lightyear, and so much more. Speaking of Lightyear, it was a good transition for everyone to talk about their Top 5 Pixar Movies. Pixar is a staple not just within the world of animation but for each of our hosts, thus as they talk about their favorite films from the studio, they not only talk about their moments of joy in seeing these films, but they also talk about the moments that moved them to their core. It is a beautiful conversation you aren't going to want to miss. For this week's listener questions, the crew talked about the Oscar chances for Dakota Johnson and her latest film, Cha Cha Real Smooth, as well as the Oscar prospects for international smash hit, RRR. They also answer a question about what films, actors, or directors that they think of when they think of each other. This lead to some pretty interesting choices for each host. Finally, the gang play a brand new game called Part of the Ensemble. The game goes as so; Ryan reads a list of actor's names from nominated casts for Best Ensemble in a Film at the SAG Awards. He starts with someone lesser known in the cast, one at a time, till one of the other hosts buzzes in with their guess. It is a lot of fun and something they plan on doing again, next time on the television side. You can listen to The AwardsWatch Podcast wherever you stream podcasts, from iTunes, Soundcloud, Stitcher, Spotify and more. This podcast runs 2h09m. This is a little bit on the long side but we are really proud of this one. Without further ado, let's get into it.

‘Sabrina' fans, ‘Mad Men' fans, and fans of a great convo, prepare yourselves because in this week's episode we are joined by Kiernan Shipka. To say Kiernan Shipka started acting early would be an understatement. She made her acting debut as a baby on ‘ER' before going on to win the role of the sassy Sally Draper at just eight years old in the iconic show about the 1960s world of advertising, ‘Mad Men'. (If you missed it the first time around, it's on Netflix now!). Kiernan starred opposite her on-sceen parents January Jones and John Hamm and the likes of Elisabeth Moss and Christina Hendricks for all seven seasons of the show, and even picked up a SAG award for Best Ensemble in a Drama series, TWICE! Kiernan went on to be the darker version of Sabrina in ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina' on Netflix for four seasons, which I was OBSESSED WITH… anyone else? And now at 22 years old, Kiernan is starring opposite former Reign guest Diane Kruger (check out her episode, it's number 35 and dripping in tea!) and Donald Sutherland in ‘Swimming with Sharks' which is available now on the ROKU channel. The show follows Kiernan's character, Lou, who starts an internship at Fountain Pictures in Hollywood, and whilst she may seem a little naive and awestruck by the studio's notorious CEO, Joyce - played by Diane (who has the sassiest power bitch wardrobe known to mankind) - landing the internship was no happy accident. The drama is intense, and it even sees Kiernan's first foray into intimate scenes on screen - powerfully led by the female characters (and it's about time too!) - which not only sees her kissing Diane, but also had a strong impact on Kiernan as she tells us in this every episode! Kiernan also talks about dealing with ‘nos' for the first time after eight years on ‘Mad Men', and she opens up about finding herself and her defining her idenity away from work after ‘Sabrina' finished last year. Plus she reflects on her journey with mental health and what therapy has helped her to process. I love what Kiernan has to say about not waiting for a moment to define your happiness and ensuring you have ‘a person to come home to within yourself,' (what an epic quote about self love that is!) so I hope you find some inspiration for your own self love journey in this episode. If it's your first time here, WELCOME TO THE QUEENDOM BABES, and I hope you continue to listen and find the power to Reign in your own lives. Bonnie Root Is a dear friend of mine who is a seasoned actress and performer and proudly owns the fact she has both survived and even thrived for 25 years working in the film and television industry. Her credits are numerous. We met on NBC's TRINITY eons ago. Little did I know about her childhood and how she thrived despite a childhood of extreme physical, mental, and sexual abuse. Bonnie very thoughtfully, candidly, and emotionally shares this story with me in hopes to come out of the darkness and shine a very much needed bright spotlight on Child Abuse for April's Child Abuse Prevention Month. She is dedicating this episode of BootStrapBitch to ForgottenChildren.org. Should her story move you, please consider making a donation... Currently, you can see Bonnie in the noir thriller feature CRUEL HEARTS opposite Melora Hardin and Eddie Jemison, on Amazon Prime. Her latest project, which she produced and stars in, is an absurdist horror thriller called THE MOVIE. The film is a commentary on Hollywood's treatment of female actors, and it has been scooping up best film, best writing, and best actress awards at film festivals worldwide. It is set for a Los Angeles Premiere at The Golden State Film Fest in late February and will be released widely in 2022. Bonnie is also an award-winning filmmaker, screenwriter, vocalist, and songwriter. She has a full-length album of original songs being released in 2022, a collaboration with award-winning producer and multi-instrumentalist, Mike Hightower. Bonnie wrote, directed, and produced the short film, SISSY which won Best Film at the Downtown L.A. film fest, Best Film at London Bootleg fest, Excellence in filmmaking from Indie Fest, and Special Jury prize for Best Ensemble at Amsterdam International. A full-length feature version of Sissy is in development with Bonnie set to direct. In 2022, she will also produce and star in a feature film called WHEN WE WERE YOUNG AND BEAUTIFUL, written and to be directed by Lila McLaughlin. The film will explore the life of a woman living with PTSD from a sexual assault as a child and the moment she comes face to face with the man she believes was her attacker all those years ago. Bonnie loves animals, is vegan and is a survivor and advocate for all survivors who are out there bravely living their truth and in pursuit of healing.

I know of no one savvier about getting it done and moving forward than actor, director, inventor, innovator, mentor, treasured friend, and Golden Globe Nominee for Happy Days, Anson Williams. Anson's wisdom has been invaluable to me, and he shared loads of it with us. And, fantastic stories––how he created opportunities as a kid, and then with Garry Marshall, Ron Howard, Steven Speilberg, QVC, the IPs he's developing now, and his lifesaving, Alert Drops, created with his 2nd cousin Henry Heimlich.
Anson shared about the people who've shaped and inspired him, and a couple of examples of how he's paid it forward––something he's done all of his life and continues to do to this day, including wisdom for me––for us––shared here. Like, how to get off the couch and out of pandemic quicksand, the value of perceived failure, the three most important words (and why they are), and give what you want to get… these were just a few of the life tool gems Anson shared. Anson leads by example, just yesterday he was awarded Best Director for Viral Vingenttes by the Crown Point International Film Festival. The film also won Best Narrative Feature and Best Ensemble. Along with Donny Most, Anson's long-time best friend since Happy Days, Anson won The Best Acting Duo Award from the International Short Film Festival for Harvest Time, which he also directed. Anson never lets grass grow, he's always got all the burners cooking. Thanks to his not so gentle nudges, this show and I, continue to shift. I always hear Anson in my head nudging me forward. Today, thanks to the power of his example of mentorship, I tried something new, broke my routine, to shake things up and move forward. Oh, I still complained, but progress, not perfection. I couldn't love and adore this man, more. I'm inspired anew and trust you will be, too.
