This week, what we're throwing down on the Table is an in-depth discussion with Brenden Deeg from NationalFootballPost.com about the upcoming Philadelphia Eagles 2022 offseason. We dove into the quarterback position, the need for better wide receivers, and how to replenish a defense with a lack of talent and depth. It was a great discussion! But first, we took a look at the top-10 Phillies farm system prospects and gave our thoughts, even though we're not sure we'll see baseball this year. (approx. 8:00)Then we discussed this Philadelphia 76ers team, Joel Embiid's patience as the Ben Simmons sage continues to loom over the organization, and what trade options may be on the table. (approx. 15:55)From there, we talked about this embarrassing Flyers season, and whether or not the organization should trade Claude Giroux at this point to allow him to chase a Stanley Cup. (approx. 27:00)We also dove into the start of this Eagles offseason after Howie Roseman's press conference where he indicated that Jalen Hurts is his starting quarterback in 2022. We also touched on the upcoming draft and holes on this team that need plugging in the future. (approx. 31:35)Who do we like for the Super Bowl at this point in the NFL postseason? We gave our answers. (approx. 44:35)What we threw down on the Table was a great discussion with Brenden Deeg from National Football Post about the start of the Eagles offseason. What acquisitions should we expect from a wide receiver standpoint? What should be the first priority addressed on defense? How should we be looking at this Eagles front office after a developmental year and team went to the postseason? All of this and much more this week on the Table! It's not hyperbole to suggest where in the middle of one of the most unique NFL seasons in recent memory. Were in the middle of a global health crisis which has limited or excluded fans, we've already seen an NFL Head Coach in Bill O'Brien get fired, we've had a rash of season-ending or significant injuries and we've only played a fifth of the season to this point. Therefore, the question is what is on the horizon what we need to keep an eye on for the rest of the season. “Nobody who ever gave his best regretted it.” –George S. Halas I don't watch a lot of sports on Television. Admittedly, it gives me less to talk about at the gym with the other guys but there's always our ailments (that's talk for people over 50). Even so, I do love sports movies. Perhaps I love them because I get the backstory on the team, the players, and how they all made it through the trials together to win. That's why I love this week's guest, Mike Lombardi, as we talk about his book, Gridiron Genius...I get the backstory on what makes a championship team (and Mike knows about championships). We talk about the value of hard work, how to bring the team together, and what separates the good from the great. I know you'll get as much from Mike's experience as I did so ENJOY! More on Mike... MICHAEL LOMBARDI former General Manager and three-time Super Bowl-winning executive was most recently on the coaching staff for Bill Belichick in the New England Patriots' front office, after thirty years working for the San Francisco 49ers, the Oakland Raiders, and the Cleveland Browns. He has a top-ten sports podcast, GM Street, is on the Bill Simmons's podcast network. Belichick once said of Lombardi: Mike’s one of the smartest people I know,” “He’s one of the smartest people I’ve ever worked with and was a huge asset to me for the two years that he was here. He studies football, and he knows it very well. I would say on probably all teams.” Lombardi’s body of knowledge 35 years in the making. A former defensive lineman at Hofstra University, he has more than three decades of experience in professional football, as a coach, executive, and media analyst. His coaching and front office career have included jobs with the San Francisco 49ers, Oakland Raiders, Cleveland Browns (where he was the general manager and director of player personnel) and New England Patriots. His television experience, CBS Sports, Showtime and the NFL Network. Also, he has written extensively for numerous print and digital media platforms, including NFL.com, Sports Illustrated, and the National Football Post, the latter of which he founded and served as editor-in-chief for three years. Also, we got the down-low on the enemy from Scott Tunstall of Inside the Iggles. Richard Gardner, the Bodog Sportsbook Manager joined us to discuss the current odds for the Panthers. Warning! We have returned with Episode 68 of Cat Crave Radio! The news from our Carolina Panthers was slow this week. Okay, it was nonexistent! Let’s just say that no news is good news. With the middle of July comes a renewed interest for so many in fantasy football. We welcomed Joe Dexter of Fantasy CPR to the show to discuss the Panthers and a few of their players. Where do they rank? What can be expected of them in 2009? Matt Bowen of National Football Post also joined us again this week. As a former player, Matt is an invaluable guest. His insights are second to none. He gives us some feedback on our Panthers and even tells us what it was like to face a John Fox team during his playing days. It’s an interesting conversation. Sometimes, we have to throw something in that will get some feedback. We did that this week when we went out and got another clip from the man that Panthers fans seem to love to hate.
