Fran Duffy, the Philadelphia Eagles' production Manager, on-air talent and host of the Journey To The Draft podcast, joined The Scoop this week to talk about the NFL Draft, as well as current Eagles and former Temple stars Haason Reddick and Shaun Bradley. Wednesday was full of action for the Jets.The team cleared around $14 million in salary cap space following a pair of newsworthy events. The Jets released Muhammad Wilkerson, clearing around $11 million. Matt Forte retired, which opened up around $3 million in space. There are no surprises. The departures of Wilkerson and Forte were widely expected. The big news in the NFL from Tuesday was the stunning trade of Alex Smith to Washington, a trade which has implications across the league. For starters, we can scratch Smith off the list of options for the Jets and other quarterback needy teams. Perhaps more significantly, we can now erase the pencil and write in ink that Kirk Cousins will be an option. There will be no last minute reconciliation between the player and his team. Cousins will be leaving our nation's capital. The Jets were officially eliminated from postseason contention on Sunday, but there are still two games left in the 2017 season. The team had a surprisingly busy Monday just a day after the elimination.The Jets made a roster move, waiving wide receiver Jeremy Kerley. Kerley's second stint in green and white lasted less than a year and included only 22 receptions. After missing four games with a suspension, the Jets decided they did not need him against the Saints as they chose to keep the receiver inactive. Now they have decided they do not need him going forward.Todd Bowles also made a pair of announcements leading to questions about the availability of two big name defensive linemen for the rest of the season. Leonard Williams is in the concussion protocol.
