Spring Game Vibes and Offense Starts at 1:00 Michigan didn't televise the spring game so now you have to listen to this one! Shout out to men's gymnastics on winning a national championship. Blue team won 17-0, yay. Did Michigan have enough offensive players to reasonably fill out two offenses? Both QBs threw deep balls, most of them weren't particularly close. Bryce had a few Freshman moments as well and everything over 10-15 yards was very flat. There aren't very many receivers but Donaven McCulley wasn't even on the same team as Underwood and was benched after the first quarter (along with most starters). Marlin Klein and Hogan Hansen didn't play. The spring game is delayed on broadcast for a week because of the portal deadline. Haynes and Marshal are it at running back, Micah Ka'apana was slippery like Chris Evans but Michigan hasn't thrown to a running back since 2016. Bryson Kuzdzal looked pretty good! The receivers aren't adjusting to the ball much, Semaj also didn't do much. The 2nd string fullback (Jalen Hoffman) has gotten more targets in a spring game than Max Bredeson has in his whole career and is the highest stock rise of the spring game. Maybe they can stack two wide receivers on top of each other like Vincent Adultman. When Michigan had three tight ends on the field they ran the ball pretty well. According to Sherrone, the three offensive linemen who are locked in are El-Hadi, Crippen, and Sprague. Babalola is big but made freshman mistakes (which is fine). 2. Spring Game Defense Starts at 50:17 Michigan looks like they'll be very tough once again and has a lot of depth. Defensive end is loaded with Big Ten starters. Rayshaun Benny is established where we want him to be at this point in his development. There's going to be a drop-off from Graham and Grant but it'll be fine. It felt like the lines were two good units going against each other. We like the way Deyvid Palepale is shaped, he might be Brian Mone. We didn't learn much about the linebackers but Cole Sullivan was in the backfield a lot. The defensive backs played really well without Jyaire Hill. Shamari Earls is wearing #2 and is looking like #2. All of these defensive backs seem plausible, McBurrows hitting the portal makes more sense now. The secondary might not have any real stars but they won't have any holes, even without Rod Moore. Safeties don't have a real rock like we're used to. 3. Hot Takes and Michigan Hockey Roster Starts at 1:14:49 Takes hotter than the one guy across the aisle at the Spring Game who is already mad at Bryce Underwood. The hockey roster is in a state of flux, we're all awaiting what will happen with the CHL kids. Michigan gets four defensemen back and brings in some transfers and CHL players. Ben Robertson comes in from Cornell after averaging 21 minutes per game. The defense has nine players on roster currently which is probably too many. They could use a goalie! Right now they have 10 forwards on a team that usually carries 14. They have a roster spot for McKenna (the Bryce Underwood of hockey), can they get him? The Big Ten might be top-to-bottom the best quality hockey in the country that isn't the NHL. 4. Potpourri Starts at 1:52:20 Danny Wolf is officially out and headed for the NBA, Aday Mara commits. They're waiting on Lendeborg but they'll still be a good team without him. One more summer of polishing Will Tschetter could make him a really good 4. In football, Luke Bauer comes in as a punter from Missouri - he's an average punter. They get CJ Hester at running back from UMass to replace Ben Hall. He's a little bowling ball. The concession lines at the Spring Game were long! Michigan Stadium isn't catering to the average fan who wants to bring their kids. There are now kids who have attended the Spring Game and didn't have a good time and now they probably won't want to go next year. In this thought-provoking episode of History Rage, host Paul Bavill is joined by the remarkable Hallie Rubenhold, historian and author of "The Five" and her latest work, "Story of a Murder." Together, they embark on a passionate exploration of the need to rethink how we understand and teach history, particularly challenging the long-standing dominance of "great man history."Rethinking Historical Narratives:Hallie passionately argues for the abandonment of the "great man" model of history, advocating for a more inclusive approach that recognizes the experiences of ordinary people and their roles in shaping the past. She emphasizes the importance of social history, which provides a richer, more egalitarian perspective on historical events, moving beyond the narratives of kings and politicians. The Crippen Murder Reexamined:Listeners are introduced to Hallie's new book, "Story of a Murder," which delves into the infamous Crippen case of 1910, offering a unique historian's perspective on true crime and its documentation.Hallie reveals how the details surrounding this murder not only tell a thrilling story but also reflect the societal dynamics of the early 20th century, right on the brink of modernity.Engaging with History:Hallie discusses the disconnect between academic history and public understanding, advocating for a more human-centered approach that connects individuals to the past. She highlights the significance of women's experiences in history, arguing that the suffrage movement is just one slice of a much larger pie that includes economic and social empowerment. This episode is a compelling call to action for historians, educators, and history enthusiasts alike, urging us all to break free from outdated narratives and embrace a more holistic understanding of our shared past. Men's Basketball Transfer Portal Starts at 1:00 Yaxel Lendeborg sounds Belgian but isn't, this starts out as a World War I podcast. Cadeau is a former five star who started for UNC, he has a Xavier Simpson assist rate but is not the most productive shooter. He also has an elevated turnover rate. Why this move feels like a wash coming from Tre Donaldson. Morez Johnson Jr. fits in well with Cadaeu, also he can thunder dunk the ball into the center of the universe. Illinois' offense would take a slight hit when Johnson is on the floor, but they get a +10 rebound rate with him. His best basket is a dunk. Unfortunately, the day Yaxel Lendeborg committed to Michigan he gave an interview where he said he wants an NBA contract and Michigan is the backup plan. Theoretically he's Danny Wolf but mean. Michigan needs a backup center but is otherwise in good shape. All signs point towards Nimari Burnett coming back. Brian is mad that Duke went 20 minutes without a turnover. We discuss Michigan's projected seed with the Yaxel situation and without the Yaxel situation. 2. Hot Takes and The State of College Athletics Starts at 42:40 Takes hotter than the best night club in Yaxel Lendeborg, Belgium. The state of things seem a bit perilous. Tre Donaldson hit the transfer portal with a broken heart emoji, what happened? It sucks that you don't really get to know players for multiple years up until their graduation. Part of the joy of college sports is watching players step up that you didn't expect to step up. The Big Ten needs an angry coach now that Fran is gone and Mick Cronin will step up. They should give schools incentives for keeping/graduating their players. The 1-4 seeds are all getting better and fans might get frustrated that more upsets don't happen. People want the chaos. Even Michael Jordan played three years in college, imagine if all the best players did that. This doesn't effect football quite as much. Fans and coaches all want roster continuity. Dusty May seems relatively well-positioned to maintain a lot of players. 3. Spring Football Bits Starts at 1:19:47 Spring Football is still happening. Updates on the offensive line, Evan Link has turned a corner after the Ohio State game. Crippen will be just fine at center. Andrew Babaloa won't be ready because he's a freshman and that's okay. Donaven McCulley is the real deal at wide receiver and everyone else is competing for the remaining spots. The running backs are good. The defensive line is not replacing Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant but it has depth. Are the redshirt freshman defensive ends turning the corner? It's being said that they are. Safety updates, with and without Rod Moore. They'll probably look for a punter in the portal. 4. Michigan Hockey Updates Starts at 1:55:27 Who hit the portal and what impact does that have? Michigan needs to get high-end defensive players. Does Gavin McKenna come to Michigan? He could be the number one overall pick. Why is Cameron Korpi in the portal? Is Michigan trying to get a CHL goalie? Or other CHL players? The CHL isn't happy about NIL. MUSIC: "Consideration"—Rihanna ft. SZA "I'm Allowed"—Buffalo Tom "When I Get There"—Grady Strange “Across 110th Street”—JJ Johnson and his Orchestra
Craig has an eye patch, Sam is ill. Things Discussed: Season Grade: A. Exceeded expectations, put up a banner, Sweet 16 after getting hosed by the committee. Dusty May is good at this: Michigan is really good in the last five minutes. They found guys they can use in ways other schools wouldn't have thought about. Knows how to put a roster together, which is critical in an age when you have to remake your roster every year. Why you have to rebuild your roster every year: The portal system isn't good for anyone. It's unfair to blame Dusty May (Tom Izzo!) for recruiting over Tre Donaldson because that's the game right now: they needed shot creation and went and got it in the portal. But this sucks for fans who lose the excitement of players getting better, sucks for schools that have to be constantly recruiting their own guys and everyone else's, and sucks for the players who have to transfer all the time. NCAA needs a holistic reboot based on contracts, and rewarding schools—perhaps with greater NIL cap space—for retaining and graduating their players. Are fans losing interest? They say they are, but it hasn't shown in the metrics yet. Maybe that's what has to happen? Craig: They need a collective bargaining agreement, and there's nobody to bargain with, and that's more than a year or two away. Michigan 2025-26: They have guards, need at least one more center and probably want to add another bench shooter (says Brian) or a starting four (Seth) because Johnson has a high foul rate. Depends which center they get and if he and Johnson can be on the court at the same time. Have Goodman to play some four, Grady to be that guy off the bench possibly. Nimari: Played very well down the stretch, was creating a bit as well. Big Ten Coaching Carousel: Think we won, think it's weird that everybody ended up in not the spot they were going. This time nobody made a bad hire: Nedved is a good fit for Minnesota, DeVries makes sense for Indiana, we like Buzz Williams (kind of a Harbaugh). Want to play at Penn next year to say hi to Fran and the Palestra. During the break: Craig grades all the NCAA Tournament officials. Football: Wide receivers got larger, McCulley sounds like he's going to be WR1 and nobody else is close. Still looking at a 6'5" guy in the portal. Need contested ballers and TEs this year to take pressure off Bryce Underwood. OL may be dodgy; they moved Link to LT and El-Hadi to LG. Like all the assistant coaches they added, hoping for a big 5th year from Crippen. Babalola? He might be a next-year guy because he's pretty raw. Defense: I need to make the Groves thing clear: I'm excited about Falcons on the roster but it's mostly a bit, and I don't want people to think my excitement over these guys is just that. Mangham is getting mention as a starting safety. Rod Moore's injury is holding him out in spring, which makes me nervous, but that could just be a precautionary thing. Quietest spring ever? The reporters are focusing on recruiting.
Historian Hallie Rubenhold's non-fiction book The Five found the stories of the victims of Jack the Ripper underneath a whole pile of misogyny and myth-making. She's about to do the same for the women at the centre of the Crippen murder, with her book Story of a Murder: The Wives, the Mistress and Dr Crippen. Hallie chats to Hannah about the wrongs done to Belle Elmore, by both her husband and history, and why most true crime sucks. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
In 1910, music hall performer Belle Elmore went missing. Her husband Dr Hawley Harvey Crippen claimed Belle had gone to America to visit a dying relative. But before long, Crippen's stories began to unravel and the doctor went on the run, triggering an international manhunt. Hallie Rubenhold re-examines Crippen's crimes in her new book Story of a Murder, and she spoke to Ellie Cawthorne about what this infamous case can reveal about medicine, the music hall and women's lives at the time. Hallie Rubenhold helped readers to see the Ripper murders from an entirely new perspective with The Five, which assiduously assembled the lives of his victims. With The Story of a Murder, she does the same again with the case of Dr Crippen, shining new light on a case most know for a couple of lurid details. What happened to Crippen's first wife, what was the nature of his marriage to his victim Belle Elmore, and how involved was his mistress, Ethel La Neve? Join us for more fascinating insight into a true crime classic.

This episode links together one of the most important inventions in all of maritime technology with one of the most notorious murders in history. In 1910 Dr Hawly Crippen killed his wife Cora in their London home and buried her dismembered body under the floor of his basement. As the net closed in, Crippen ran and he sought his escape by sea, aboard the ss Montrose, a fairly run of the mill steamship, but crucially one that was equipped with the Italian engineer Guglielmo Marconi's new and world-changing invention, wireless telegraphy. To put the necessary ingredients of this fabulous story in order, Dr Sam Willis travelled to the archives of the Lloyd's Register Foundation to meet their head archivist, Max Wilson. Hosted on Acast. (Under a Shining Moon) *** Poltergeists have been reported as having unique personalities. Some are violent, others are eerily playful. But in Vietnam, they are dealing with one that likes to start fires. (Pyromaniac Poltergeist) *** In 1885 a madman stalked the streets of Austin, Texas, slaughtering women where they slept. You might think he was inspired by London's Jack the Ripper – but this was three years before anyone ever knew about Jack. (The Servant Girl Murders) *** Are ghosts and shadow people the same thing? Author Jacob Shelton doesn't think so – and gives us an in-depth essay behind his reasoning. (Ghosts And Shadows) *** In September, 1935, the Labor Day Hurricane obliterated the Florida Keys, killing hundreds. Even today, more than 83 years later, skeletal remains still continue to occasionally be found… as do some of their ghosts. (Ghosts Of The Labor Day Hurricane) *** Nathaniel Bar-Jonah was accused of murdering a child. Soon, his neighbors remembered the strange meat he'd given them years before. (Child Killer and Cannibal) *** Was the notorious Dr Crippen, convicted and executed in 1910 for the murder of his wife Cora, actually innocent? (Dr. Crippen and the Chamber of Murder and Horror) *** Two women decide to move into a flat together – but quickly find out they might have a paranormal third roommate they didn't know about. (The Other Flatmate) *** In the wild frontier of the 1790s, Americans had much to be worried about. Drought, famine, being injured with no one there to get help for you, poisonous snakes, hungry wolves, even being scalped by bloodthirsty natives of the land. But nothing was so scary as… the Harpe brothers. You see, the Harpe brothers didn't choose their victims – they simply killed anyone who got in their way, including women and children. This episode covers:In this episode, we discuss the importance of biochemical individuality, tips for addressing health issues like migraines, the benefits of chiropractic adjustments, and so much more.Dr. Jeff Crippen's mission is to live life to the fullest and help others do the same. He is a Chiropractor, nutritionist and coach who enjoys helping others unlock their true potential. His passion stems from his own personal struggles. At age six, he began suffering from migraines. For the next seven years, his headaches continued to worsen despite the best medical care he and his family could find. At his lowest point, Jeff had a debilitating headache that lasted — without so much as a day of relief — for over two years. At age 13, he found the powerful combination of chiropractic and individualized nutritional care. By combining these two powerful forces, he was able to unlock his own ability to heal. For the last decade, Jeff has helped clients both through chiropractic care and nutrition at his wellness clinic in Saint Jo, Texas as well as through individualized mindset coaching with the Advanced Coaching and Leadership Center. He finds a holistic approach — optimizing spirit, mind, and body — the most efficient and effective way to create a lifetime of timeless you-th.Links mentioned during this episode:Timeless Youth Book: www.timelessyouthbook.comDr. Crippen's IG: https://www.instagram.com/jeffcrippen/Lyons' Share Instagram: www.instagram.com/thelyonsshareJoin Megan's Newsletter: www.thelyonsshare.org/newsletter

(A Thanksgiving Ghost Story) *** On November 19, 1924, Hollywood movie producer Thomas Ince died after celebrating his 42nd birthday aboard a yacht belonging to infamous newspaper publisher William Randolph Hearst, but to this day, the exact circumstances of his death remain a mystery. Could this be why his ghost still wanders the movie studio that he founded? *** On the night of November 20, 1901, a young North Carolina woman named Nell Cropsey vanished from her family's home in Elizabeth City. After a frantic search that lasted more than a month, Nell's body was discovered floating in a nearby river. She had been brutally murdered – but by who? *** On November 23, 1910, American-born homeopathic physician and salesman Hawley Harvey Crippen (usually known simply as Dr. Crippen in crime annals) was hanged at Pentonville Prison in London for the murder of his wife, Cora. But was he really a murderer? *** While the holidays are usually a time of cheer and happiness, the people of Chicago learned of a Christmas-related tragedy on November 22, 1912 when the famed "Christmas Tree Ship" went down in a storm on Lake Michigan. The tragedy changed the face of the holidays for the people of Chicago in a very unexpected way. ***Plus the original short horror story “Black Friday” by horror master, Jason R. He has a threat in Nick Marsh who's really emerging in the back half of the season. Other targets are just dudes. OL has some big issues on the right side, look cobbled together. Alarming how well they were able to run the ball consistently against Iowa. Michigan needs to keep Chiles in the pocket. 2. MSU Preview: Defense starts at 19:01 They're weak at defensive tackle but cover it up with their burly LBs playing downhill. Other than play-action pass, what can we do Alex? Probably need to get creative. Consider beefing up if they have Hinton back and can run out multiple OTs, but Evan Link as 7th OL? You don't have the dudes who are going to win those matchups as much anymore. They do give up a big long run per week so many we'll have a Mullings beastquake again. Or maybe just once we'll get an Edwards vs Cal Haladay throw. 3. Illinois After Review starts at 34:30 Brian is NOT as mad at Kirk Campbell as he was before going over the film. There were a lot of good ideas in there that his quarterback just couldn't execute. Offensive line seems to be coming together—Gentry was actually *Good*. Priebe is rounding into a 2nd team all-B10 kind of player. Crippen eh but not terrible. Persi might just be what he is. Tuttle was BAD. The overturned interception was to a guy covering grass—it's not even *at* a receiver. Defensively, yeah, don't put them in a terrible situation. Barham had a great game, they covered a lot of the weird stuff that Bielema dumped on them, but were constantly starting drives at midfield or in Michigan territory. Dammit Wink things have largely disappeared save for 2-minute drills, where they're rushing high and playing soft man. 4. Hoops vs Oakland, and Toledo Preview starts at 59:56 Exhibition showed what we wanted to see, which was not many bad shots against a tricky zone defense. The ball didn't stick: when you can see all of these former PGs together they can all get a little creative. It's not going to be no-turnover but they get very good shots, including free throws. Things Discussed: Dusty May's recruiting: A+. Grady should be Wisconsin-level hateable. Oscar Goodman has the most beautiful line in a shooter's scouting report: good not great athlete. These guys will be around 3-4 years Craig: Grady has some Roddy Gayle, can shoot a midrange. Have pole position in the recruitment of impact Trey McKenney, fighting UNLV and BYU for a center who does everything they want. Oakland Exhibition takes: The ball does not stick on this team. Three guys are point guards, and then Danny Wolf also sees the court. It got a little sloppy as they got to know each other. Roddy Gayle's defense stood out. Sam Walters stood out, role this year is going to be a JAS. Question: do they wear out their centers? If you want to play fast you're going to wear out your bigs, which is fine if you're going to play Wolf at the five for 15 minutes, but now you need a four. Think that will be matchup-based whether they roll with Walters or Tschetter or Jones in those situations. If someone gets in foul trouble they can weather it. Weird to see a guard foul out (Cason) and not be worried. Means they can play more aggressively. Defense was impressive. They did play drop, but being able to flat hedge is important, and having huge guards is going to feel very different. So many arms! Another takeaway: Wolf's rebounding is very underrated. Toledo preview: they're a five-out team with a 6-7 center so we'll get to see a different configuration against a different challenge than Kempe's big guards. Babalola: Good to see Sherrone Moore's recruiting is what we hoped it would be. Way more athletic than most guys we've had, reminds me of when the early internet sent around a video clip of Jake Long dunking. Illinois review: Offensive line was better, Gentry had a couple of pressures given up (PFF missed one) but he moved people and it's hard to understand why he wasn't playing over Link. Crippen it's more clear why they were trying Giudice because Crip tends to get bulled back. Wasn't terrible. Tuttle was—some of his mistakes weren't on him but he fumbled, had two HORRIBLE interceptions, can tell he hasn't practiced much this year. They found a major: split zone. Then they went away from it. When they play-action they get the reaction they want, but can't complete the pass. Game over. Who's QB: doesn't matter. Illinois had a good gameplan, but defense was good. Game was lost on offense, which is 94% the quarterback, so it's hard for us to break this down. Everybody can see this. Special teams is the other issue: Doman's punts are giving up 30 yards on the exchange. Everybody knew Illinois was going to fake near the 50 except this team. Defense: Got a better Wink. Starting to build blitzes around his players, and they're more effective. Michigan State: Michigan has better players, MSU has better coaching. They got Chiles to not turn the ball over against Iowa and suddenly they look good. Fancystat numbers are based on horrible interceptions; down to down they're a decent offense. Marsh is a dangerous WR, wish we had a healthy Will Johnson. MSU's OL is not good, especially on the right side.
During this week's "Seven from 77," Jon recaps his Illinois film study, sets the table for Saturday's rivalry game, and reacts to another crazy weekend of college football. The trial began on 18 October 1910 and concluded on 22 October with the jury finding Crippen guilty of murder after just twenty-seven minutes of deliberations, having heard a case that relied heavily on forensic evidence including partial human remains discovered at his ...
Arion, Rebecca and Olly investigate the story of Dr. Hawley Crippen, convicted of murdering his wife, music hall performer Cora Crippen, on 22nd October, 1910. Cora's corpse had been discovered in their Holloway cellar - but homoeopath Crippen had fled to America with his lover Ethel Lenev dressed as a boy. However, the Captain of the SS Montrose became suspicious of their behaviour, and wirelessly telegraphed Scotland Yard to arrest the pair upon arrival in Canada. In this episode, the Retrospectors explore how it was Lenev's love for Cora's jewellery that initially raised suspicion; consider how technology enabled the media to closely cover the case, turning it into a sensational story as it unfolded in real-time; and question the description of the couple piously parroted in the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography… Further Reading: • ‘Editorial: the Dr Crippen murder trial' (The Guardian, 1910): https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/oct/24/editorial-the-dr-crippen-trial-archive-1910 • ‘The Execution of Dr Crippen' (History Today, 2010): https://www.historytoday.com/archive/execution-dr-crippen • ‘The Dark & Disturbing Case of Dr. Crippen' (Brief Case, 2021): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQb1rFZjDxc This episode first premiered in 2023, for members of

Hawley Harvey Crippen, an American homeopathic doctor, became infamous for his role in one of the most sensational murder cases of the early 20th century. Born in Michigan in 1862, Crippen moved to London, where he lived with his wife, Cora, a music hall performer. Their relationship was troubled, and in 1910, after Cora mysteriously disappeared, Crippen claimed she had returned to America. Suspicion arose when police discovered a dismembered body in the cellar of their home, leading Crippen to flee with his secretary and lover, Ethel LeNeve. Crippen's capture marked a historic moment in criminal investigations, as it was the first case in which radio technology was used to apprehend a fugitive. When Crippen and Ethel attempted to escape by ship to Canada, the ship's captain recognized them and used the newly developed wireless telegraph to alert authorities. Scotland Yard inspector Walter Dew intercepted the pair in Canada, making Crippen's arrest one of the most dramatic and well-publicized manhunts of the era. This case showcased the power of new technology in law enforcement, forever changing how criminals could be tracked and caught in an increasingly interconnected world.

Featured Musicians: Lanternfly The Video: [After THE JUMP: The things to be said.] --------------------- 1. USC: Offense starts at the top They have TALENT at wide receiver, and the guy who developed four of the NFL's starting quarterbacks has a next guy who seems to be able to play air raid. LSU went man on them and got beat by the receivers making plays. Can Michigan's defense, designed to stop CJ Stroud, do the trick? Will depend on Wink confusing Moss and Moss not confusing Wink's linebackers. 2. USC: Defense starts at 20:44 A lot of transfers for a new defense. Finally somebody else is running Amoeba and their linebackers are grading out poorly in charting because that job is hard. Haven't faced an Orji offense yet but neither have we run an Orji offense. They have talent in the secondary but front seven are mostly guys. Interesting 6'6" linebacker at WLB who's there to be a DE or a safety or an end or a tight end eraser. SDE was Don Brown's top anchor target once upon a time. 3. Gimmicky Top Five: Halftime Events Sponsored by Our Advertisers starts at 37:09 Reid McCarthy of Ann Arbor Elder Law felt called out when we mentioned him in the same breath as the Purdue auto dealership that tried to cheat a student kicker out of his 2-year lease, so he came on the show for a segment on our ideas (some of them good!) for sponsored halftime entertainment. 4. Arkansas State After Review starts at 56:17 It doesn't seem Orji and Crippen are a panacea, but if you're struggling at quarterback when you're running simple things you might as well put in the guy who can run. Crippen wasn't meaningfully better than Giudice; Mullings is meaningfully better than Donovan Edwards. But consider: Edwards can turn every play into a TD. Defensively Wink backed off. I crunched RPS numbers and found that new coordinators from the NFL think they have to playcall their way to victory—things are a lot smoother when you just play your defense. About the Featured Musician: Lanternfly THE BAND: Longtime MGoBlog reader Keith Salowich formed this intellectual pop punk outfit right before the world went and had its global pandemic. They reformed with a new lineup in spring of 2023 and put out their first single "No Vacancy" last February, with their first EP "Until There's Nothing Left Alive" following in June. Oddly for a pop punk outfit the drummer has real chops, while both Keith and Angie Salowich are gifted lyricists. The Offensive Vibes Starts at 1:00 We've beaten the college football game, now it's just side quests. Let's try to be chill about it now? New conferences: not going to get married to them because they're just going to blow this up too. "Big Ten Championship Game" is unlikely to be a game that solves anything. What is this Michigan team's route to a championship? 2021 Georgia: supreme defense, offense is a ridiculous tight ends. [The rest of the writeup and the player after THE JUMP] 2. Quarterback & the Offensive Design? Starts at 21:57 Michigan doesn't go in the portal because there wasn't anybody left worth getting last January when JJ was still here and Michigan was still going to a natty. Means they would have gone. Orji separated himself, Tuttle gets hurt too much so they're looking at Davis Warren as the second quarterback. What's the offense? Seth: Let's look at Cam Newton-era Auburn, with BASH/inverted veer and lots of pin & pull and motion to create matchups with all of our weird guys: the QB is a RB, the RB is a WR, the other RB is a FB, the FB is a TE, the TE is a WR, one WR is an RB. News: there's going to be a Washington UFR from Brian. 3. Running Back, Receiver & Tight End Starts at 53:20 Donovan Edwards was pressing last year and it cut 300 yards off his totals. When he's in a groove (Purdue 2022) he's a touchdown waiting to happen. When he's not in a groove he gets LBs going insane and becomes also a touchdown waiting to happen. Mullings is That Dude: Every time he's involved in a play something interesting happens. It's a big deal for Jordan Marshall if he's RB3 because that's passing some big dudes. They say he's the Edwards backup and Ben Hall, who we love, is the Mullings backup. What does that mean? Not much because Marshall is Hart. Receiver: Tyler Morris should be a good, knows how to get open and catches it. Semaj Morgan is going to be fun, but ideally they had a Braylon type deep guy. Amorion Walker should redshirt finally. Colston Loveland is the key: they can move him around because he's a mismatch on everyone, has every QB in line at his door. Bredeson is the best FB Brian's ever charted, how many snaps for him? Marlin Klein hype: do you believe? We believe he'll be a fast TE but not a Barner blocker. 4. Hot Takes, Offensive Line and Style Starts at 1:55:30 This is the most comfortable anybody's ever been after graduating all five OL. Myles Hinton was basically a freshman last year because Stanford coaching is that bad (attn: Babalola). Josh Priebe is a tough sonsabitch. Crippen is probably the center but Raheem Anderson is your next OL if someone inside gets hurt. Gio El-Hadi should ascend and be pretty good—usually you don't get to wait until he's this far along to start him. Right tackle is giving us bad vibes; if Gentry was going to get the job he would have seized it right? Persi makes more sense—Hayes took awhile to grow from a TE as well. Link competing now is good for Link, not for the other two. MUSIC: "Bring Em Out"—T.I. “Piece of Me"—Lady Wray “Get Up And Go”—The Go-Go's “Across 110th Street”—JJ Johnson and his Orchestra THE USUAL LINKS: Helpful iTunes subscribe link General podcast feed link What's with the theme music?
Things Discussed: Seth: FBS needs to take the season off to celebrate the recent champions and digest all of these changes. They're not surrender cobras anymore; that's just relaxing. VICTORS: bigger project than we thought, 95% written now. Yes you can still order one (I'm making 10,000, about 8,400 sold). QB: Wish we'd seen more of Orji last year; saying he's the ideal leader, how consistent can he be with the throws. Don't count out Davis Warren. RB: Jordan Marshall news is good for Jordan Marshall; they don't need him yet so if he's breaking into the lineup we've got a Corum on our hands. Need to see more 2RB with Mullings blocking because he got the Block of the Week three times in 25 attempts, including the one where he lit up Dallas Turner in the Rose. WR: Semaj is WR2 we think. TE: Loveland is going to split out wide a lot (watch the Rose again). OL: Best you can be after replacting five (six!) starters. Do they have eight starters or four? Think Crippen/Anderson is a Barnhart/Trente situation. RT? Might not like what they have from Gentry and Persi, might just be a good sign that Evan Link is coming on. El-Hadi, Crippen, Hinton are Old Wisconsin replacements. DL: Benny should be at his takeoff year, haven't talked about him because he was injured. Hearing the right things on Pierce: he can be not moved. Etta can penetrate, but neither can do both. Etta's position is like hearing Mike Morris is moving to DT: he can do it, but he'll be undersized, and it means they don't like any of their options past that. Kirby Smart is complaining about his 4th DT too. Cornerback: Jyaire Hill probably rounds into a star over the course of the season, coaches are impatient for it to happen now. Aamir Hall is a find; Ricky Johnson is a loose cannon needs a year. Safety: Need four, have four. Mangham will come along, is your new Sabb. Q-Jo will start earlier in the season but expect Walker to come along and rotate with Johnson. Berry: Different player from Sainristil, think having him means you go man more often and let Wink blitz more.

IN THIS EPISODE: Are ghosts and shadow people the same thing?
